Hey guys, I'm Alexey Joy, your host from FilmedIt Studios. To make up from the last chapter that was EXTREMELY short. Here is an extra long one that I will aim to get up to 3,000 words on it. So as I write this BOLD writer's commentary I am thinking of an Idea for this chapter. I guess you could say that I am,

Figuring It Out.

Chapter 5:

Freedom… In a way

Blu and Jewel have now been in the artificial jungle for about 2 weeks. They both love getting to know each other and just spend time with each other. Though they have had their moments where they felt it was too much too soon.

Blu knows Jewel has wanted to go back outside and he really wanted to help with that, so early in the morning he got up out of the hollow under Jewels and snuck to the door and knocked with his beak. Much to his surprise Tulio actually answered, despite how early it was.

Tulio reached his arm down to Blu "What is it Blu?" Tulio asked as he stood back up with Blu on his arm. Blu used his talon to point to a pen and paper. Tulio was curious about why but went along with it.

He placed Blu next to it and Blu began writing. 'Hello, Jewel really wants to go back into the wild and I do understand that you are keeping us here to keep us safe. I have an idea.' Tulio had seen birds write before but not to this level of accuracy, so he was mind blown.

'My idea is if you made a hatch from the Aviary to the outside world that had a lock that only birds would be able to unlock and fit through.' Blu proposed that idea to Tulio, and he actually thought it wasn't a bad idea.

"That is actually a pretty good idea, but if we make that you and Jewel will have to stay in a smaller aviary for a week while it gets built." Tulio explained, Blu understood since he has had experience with having to stay in a cage for extended amounts of time while the book store back in Minnesota had renovations.

'Thank you. But, don't tell Jewel. I want it to be a surprise for her.' Tulio agreed then he proceeded to put Blu back into the Artificial Jungle.

Blu walked back to his hollow and just laid there in silence. He didn't want to wake Jewel up since the last time he did that Jewel punched him since he got a fright. She wasn't used to being woken up before 7am.

An hour past and Jewel had now gotten up to go get a drink from the small stream that runs through the aviary. She was glad she at least had some freedom in the aviary, she was still able to fly around, though she couldn't go far.

Blu heard Jewel flap her wings but he didn't follow since he was tired from waking up earlier then he usually does. So he just continued to relax in his hollow. It surprised him that he was adapting so well to sleeping in a hollow, it helped that it was still inside a building.

One Jewel had finished getting something to drink, she flew to the hollow Blus hollow and greeted him good morning with an enthusiastic voice.

Blu was confused as to where this enthusiasm was coming from since there was little to nothing to do in here, well for Jewel anyway. But then Blu thought 'wait, what if she overheard my surprise, wait never mind. She can't read… yet.' so Blu relaxed at that thought.

"So Blu, since you can't fly, I thought it would be a good idea to teach you." Jewel said with even more enthusiasm since she was great at flying and because of this, she thought she would be great at teaching Blu.

Blus relaxed state turned into a scared state. He shot up and started pacing. 'Flying? Me? If she were to teach me to fly that would mean I would have to fall… A Lot!' Blu kept thinking of all the bad scenarios that could happen as she taught him to fly.

Jewel watched him pace, she knew that last time he had to try to fly, he stopped and had a mental breakdown. But that was 30,000ft above the ocean, this was only going to be 2 metres above ground.

"Blu?" She interrupted Blus pacing by placing a wing on his shoulder, getting his attention again.

"WHAT? I- uhh, yeah, s- sure. Sounds great." Blu said while shaking, then turned to the wall. "Can't wait." Blu quietly and sarcastically said.

"Blu, I have full confidence that you can learn to fly. You just needed a good teacher, and Rafael wasn't a good teacher." Jewel explained to Blu, she knew Blu could do it, he just needed a slight push.

"Y-yeah… Plus how he tried to get us to fly wasn't aerodynamically possible." Blu told Jewel as he turned back around. "Maybe I should give it a try." Blu said, he really did want to fly, he just wasn't confident he could, and he still isn't but he is willing to try for Jewel.

"That's the spirit, now, lets go." Jewel said as she jumped to the door with excitement.

"Wait, right now?" Blu asked, he didn't expect it to be today.

"Yeah, now come on, you're not going to learn by standing there." She said as she flew off to the branch next to her hollow that was above Blus.

Blu followed, he climbed the stepping stairs that were drilled into the tree up to Jewel.

"Alright so, when flying you want to-" Jewel cut herself off when he saw Blu checking his body if all of his feathers were in the right position.

"Well first you're going to not want to do that. If you spend too much time focusing on if your feathers and wings are in the right position you're not going to be focused enough to actually fly. So, you're going to want to just spread your wings while keeping your feathers connected, same with tail feathers, and just jump." Jewel explained to Blu, Blu hearing that last part, just slowly turned his head towards her.

"Just Jump?" Blu asked Jewel. Feeling as if that was wrong.

"Yeah. Jewel answered.

"But, I have this book back at minnesota that says that birds would need to-"

"Hey! Who's the one who can fly, and who's the one who can't." Jewel interrupted him. Blu couldn't argue with that.

Blu jumps, spreading his wings and tail feathers. He flew straight down into a bed of dirt. He hit the ground with an "oomph" but got back up and tried again, and again, and again.

On the 56th try he hurt everywhere on his face, but refused to give up in front of Jewel. But this time he glided for about 5 seconds, he still hit the ground but he was making progress. He felt so proud of himself.

So he continued to jump, with each jump, he made a bit of progress, and he did this for the whole day.

At the end of the day, his face was hurting alot. Not so much that he would need medical attention. But he ignored him since he had now mastered gliding. Now he just needed to master flying.

But after all that he was exhausted and decided to go to sleep early. Jewel went to sleep early as well.

8 hours later.

The next day, they woke up in a smaller aviary where you could see the bars. Blu had an idea as to why they were here. Tulio walked in and winked at Blu and showed him the paperwork for the new entrance to outside for the artificial jungle. Blu was so excited to show Jewel when they got back to the artificial jungle.

But then Jewel woke up. She saw the bars and started to panic. Blu went up to her to make up a reason as to why they were there. "Jewel it's ok, a tree fell into the Artificial Jungle and they need to repair it. It's only going to last a week." Blu hoped she would buy that lie. To which she did.

She calmed down, then perched on a nearby perch.

In the jungle

Nico and Pedro have enjoyed being free from the plane, but they had spent an entire week looking for Blu and Jewel but then eventually gave up and assumed that Blu didn't escape and Jewel was now far from Rio with another bird. But it didn't mean they missed them. They had honestly really enjoyed helping Blu get Jewels heart. Even if they failed at the time. They decided to fly to Rafael's hollow

"Ey Rafi!" Pedro called out, Rafael heard them, got out of his hollow just to be dragged back in by his 18 kids.

"Let me go! Do you want me to call your mother?" Rafael threatened to do if they didn't do as he said. They all let go of him.

"Aye caramba, you see, this is why you don't have kids. Ola Amigos!" Rafael greeted his friends.

"Hey, how are you" Nico asked as he landed on a small branch close to the ground.

"I'm doing fine, besides all of my injuries from my offspring, I'm great. Have you found Blu or Jewel yet?" Rafael asked, he still had hope that Blu and Jewel were somewhere to be found.

"Oh my god Rafi, Give up. They are gone!" Nico yelled, he had no hope that they could still be found.

"Aye Aye Aye, have faith in my amigos, they will show up." Rafael had confidence that they would be able to find them. But then he spotted a dark Blue macaw in the distance, so he flew towards it.

"Blu!" Rafael called out. But then the macaw turned around, it was just a hyacinth macaw. "Never mind." Rafael sadly said as he turned to fly back.

"See, they are gone." Pedro sadly said.

One week later

Blu and Jewel have finally been moved back into the Artificial jungle and Blu can still only glide but he had other things on his mind, like showing Jewel the new exit to the Jungle.

"Jewel, before you go back to your hollow, can I show you something?" Blu kindly asked Jewel

"Ok? But what is there to show me?" Jewel asked, since there was nothing noticeably new about the place.

Blu walked to the other side of the Aviary and stopped at a wall with two long leaves. "

"Alright, 3, 2, 1, Tada!" Blu then pulled the leaves down and revealed the exit to the jungle. "All you need to do is pull this and it will open a way out to the jungle. That way we can live here but have easy access to the outside world, that's the real reason why we were in the other cage." Blu explained to Jewel.

Jewel didn't know what to say, so she just hugged him and pulled him out with her to the perch on the outside wall.

"Well Blu, you want me to give you a ride?" Jewel kindly asked.

"No, no, you waited a long time to be free again and I did this for you. You go get your freedom. I'll just slow you down." Blu told Jewel. Jewel just hugged him and again and thanked him 5 times in a row, then flew off to go have fun flying.

"Alright Blu, time to go practice my flying in a safe environment, so back in you go." Blu talked to himself. He wanted to master flying before she got back so that they could fly together. Well he at least wanted to master the basics, not flips and all that.

But as he did that, Jewel was having the time of her life. Doing flips around trees, going through tight gaps and just having a lot of hun in general.

With Rafael

Rafael was trying to sneak out of his hollow without stepping on any of his many children to go and get food for his family. Once he had finally escaped, he flew off to a nearby Mango tree, he looked for the most ripe Mangoes to bring back, but then heard a familiar "Woo Whoo '' from a distance, he looked in the direction he heard it from and saw a Cerulean figure.

He thought to himself 'Is that Jewel?' So he flew towards the figure, once he was close enough to identify the figure, he realised it was Jewel.

"Jewel!" Rafael called out, Jewel stopped to hover in the air until she noticed Rafael.

"Rafael? Is that you?" Jewel asked once she noticed the Toucan that was heading in her direction.

"Si! SI! It is me! Where have you been? Have you seen Blu?" Rafael asked since he really wanted to see if Blu was okay.

"Have I seen him? I've been living with him." Jewel happily answered his question.

"Oh, so you two finally became mates." Rafael confidently replied with.

"No, nothing like that… yet, we have been staying in a fake jungle, two seperate hollows but we finally got a way to leave it." jewel happily explained to her friend.

"Oh I see, wait, where is this fake jungle?" Rafael asked.

"Oh, just over there in that building." She gestured her head in the direction of the building.

"Thanks amigo." Rafael thanked him and flew towards the building while Jewel continued to have fun.

With Blu

"Alright so, I have mastered gliding and turning and I have started to get the hang of going up. Alrighty, three, two, on-"

"Hey Blu!" Rafael cut him off, giving Blu a fright that he fell from the branch that he was about to jump off. Hitting the ground harder then he did when he first started trying to fly.

"Ow! Who is i- Oh hey Rafael. Wait, how did you find out I was here?" Blu asked his friend since the entrance/exit to the aviary was only just made.

"Jewel told me." Rafael answered, resuring Blu as to why he was there.

"Oh yeah, that makes sense." Blu said as he got up off the ground.

"So how are you, where have you been? How is it going to you and Jewel?" Rafael asked as he got a little closer to Blu.

"Well, Number 1, I'm doing great, I'm finally able to glide, turn and land. But I can't fly up. I'm still figuring it out. Number 2, I have been here the entire time. Number 3, me and Jewel have been doing great together, we have been bonding a lot, getting to know each other, and just all in all. Having fun together." Blu explained while brushing himself off with his wings to get the dirt he just fell into off.

"That's great! Well I just popped over to make sure everything was okay, But I should be heading back to my family, I still need to bring food back to them. I'll tell Nico and Pedro that you're okay. See ya Amigo." Rafael said as he flew off to the exit so he could feed his family.

"Bye!" Blu said as he took off. "Alright, back to going up." Blu continued to try and fly up. He managed to get back up the branch by flying. "Oh my god. I did it. I flew up! YES!" Blu celebrated his new skill he has been wanting his whole life.

With Nico and Pedro.

Nico and Pedro were getting their club to open for the day, when they noticed Rafael.

"We are just going to answer the question before you ask it. No we haven't seen Blu or Jewel." Nico said, trying to avoid the conversation that happened last week.

"No, that's not what I was going to say. I found them! Rafael excitedly said.

"Hol Up! You did?" Pedro was surprised by this since they had lost all hope of finding them.

"Yeah, they were staying at the building near my hollow, the one with that weird man who comes to our hollow and starts squawking random sounds at random birds." Rafael explains Nico and Pedro.

Nico and Pedro decided to postpone the opening time for that day and flew to the building.

Back with Blu

Now that Blu had the handle of flying up, he had finally managed to do all three at once and was finally flying around the Aviary. "YES! I can't believe I'm flying! Woo Whoo!" Blu couldn't stop celebrating the fact he was flying. After so long of being grounded.

Nico and Pedro entered the building and saw him flying. "Ay! You finally learnt to fly!" Pedro yelled, getting the attention of Blu.

"Yep! 15 years without knowing and I finally learnt!" Blu said as he landed next to them. But slightly slipping as he landed but he was able to keep his balance.

"How have you been Bluebird?" Nico asked as he landed on Blus head.

"Great! I can finally fly, me and Jewel are getting along great and everything is just great. Though we are still figuring it out." Blu explained, he had never been happier in his life.

"Speaking of Jewel, where is she?" Pedro asked, tilting his head a little.

"She went out for a fly since she hasn't been able to do that for 14 years." Blu explained to the two of them.

Back with Jewel.

Jewel was now out of breath from flying so much so she decided to head back to Blu. As she was flying she couldn't help but feel extremely happy.

4 hours later.

Jewel arrived back at the aviary about 3 hours ago and Blu decided to hide the fact he could fly, so he could surprise her tomorrow.

It had been a big day for both of them and they were tired. So they had their dinner that was handed to them by Tulio, the usual Mango. Then they went to sleep. Well Jewel did. Blu felt as if something wasn't right. But he couldn't figure out what. It felt as if he was still.

Figuring it Out.

That was the biggest chapter I have ever written. I hope it all fit well together. My fingers hurt.

Anyway. This and the previous chapter were both uploaded on the same day because I forgot to upload it until just as I am writing this.
