Figuring It Out
Chapter 7:
Past Acquaintance
Blu and Jewel had spent their first night sleeping in the same hollow after that make out session. Blu was asleep, leaning against the wall with Jewel wrapped in his left wing. It was very quiet, all you could hear was the soothing sound of the stream and the soft breathing of Blu and Jewel sleeping. Jewel was slowly waking up, as her dream state was fading away, the feeling of Blu's soft, fluffy feathers faded in.
She opened her eyes a little and all she could see was the dark blue feathers of Blu. She smiled and pushed against him a little, feeling his warmth and heartbeat. This disturbed Blu's slumber as he slowly woke up to Jewels bright cerulean head feathers in the corner of his eye.
"Oh no, did we- we couldn't do- but did we?" Blu whispered to himself as he looked around the hollow for any sign of questionable liquid on the ground around Jewel.
"No Blu… We didn't" Jewel whispered as she pushed a little bit more onto him. Blu sighed in relief as he rested his head on top of Jewels. Jewel smiled, knowing Blu was relaxed.
"But what if we did?" Blu lifted his head back up and looked at Jewel. Jewel lifted her head to look at him with her reassuring eyes. Blu felt the heartbeat of her, it was slow, calm and at ease.
"Blu, trust me. If we did do it. I would know." Jewel reassured Blu as she looked into his eyes. Blu still had his worries but he was a little more relaxed. He rested his head on the wall of the hollow and relaxed a little.
"Hey, how about we go for a fly?" Jewel asked as she perked up onto her talons. But Blu was too tired to go since he was still adjusting to the new timezone.
"No thank you, you go ahead. I'll just sleep a little more." Blu yawned as he closed his eyes rolled to the side, and got ready to sleep a little more. Hoping to dream about a great future with Jewel.
"okay, I'll be back before you wake up." Jewel said as she flew out of Blu's hollow and towards the aviary exit.
She opened the bird door and walked out, closing it behind her. She then flapped her wings and flew off into the jungle.
Jewel flew around but didn't want to go too far just so Blu could find her when he decided to join her. As she was flying she was too focused on having fun while flying she flew into another bird causing them to fall to the ground. They weren't too far up but it was enough to hit the ground with a grunt.
The other bird slowly got up, slightly limping since Jewel landed on his talon. "Watch where you're goi-" the bird cut himself off when he looked at Jewel. Jewel looked back and then shared the same shocked expression. She was looking right at another spix macaw
"I- I thought me and Amelda were the last ones" The male Spix Macaw said. He had green eyes and the same coloured feathers as Blue but less ruffled and more smooth.
"I- I thought me and Blu were the last ones." Jewel said at the same time as the other Spix said it.
They both looked at each other for about 5 seconds with shocked expressions until the male decided to speak, "I- uhh. My name is Jack, Tyler Jack Wonderson, and you are?" He said as he held a talon out to help Jewel up.
Jewel didn't accept his gesture and got up herself "Jewel, my name is Jewel." She answered as she got back onto her talons
Jack's shocked expression grew a little wider and gasped a little, "Wait, wait, wait. Jewel, Eduardo's daughter?" The mention of her father brought back memories of her past life.
"Y- Yeah… Why?" She was surprised that he knew about her father.
Jack paced in a circle once and yelled "Now I remember!" excitement in his voice tone.
Jewel stepped back a bit "Remember what?" She looked at him.
"It's me, the Jack you and your group liked to make fun of so much." Jack explained as he looked at her. When Jewel heard that she remembered him.
"Oh, you're that Jack, by the way I'm sorry for how they treated you." Jewel apologises for her past friends behaviour.
"Pfft, it's fine. You only had the power to stop them and yet you did nothing." Jack explained in a mocking tone.
"Hey! I tried to stop them and I always tried to comfort you everytime they did something." Jewel explained.
"I know and thank you for doing that, but you still could have stopped them. But hey, that was in the past. Let's focus on something else." Jack said, trying to change to a more present day conversation.
"So, how have you been, what's been happening?" Jack asked his old "friend" if he would even call her that yet.
"Well, I got a-" Jewel cut herself off, she didn't know if Blux was officially her boyfriend or not.
"I got an unofficial boyfriend." Jewel tried to explain in the best way she could think of
"Can you explain more?" Jack asked, cocking his head to the right and straightening his posture.
"Well, we are still figuring it out." Jewel explained as he fiddled a bit with her feathers.
"Ahh I see, and what's his, or her name." Jack asked, trying not to sound homophobic.
"It's a he, and his name is Blu." Jewel happily answered.
"Blu? As in the mouldy cheese or is it Blue? as in the colour?" Jack asked, cocking his head each time he mentioned a different type of way to say Blu.
"I think he said cheese." Jewel answered, recalling when Blu introduced himself to her about a month ago.
"Well, can I meet him?" Jack asked, he wanted to meet him since he hasn't met anyone new in a while and thought this would be a good time to do so.
"Sure… We live just in that building." Jewel answered, pointing towards the building she had been flying around for the past 10 minutes.
"Well then, let's go." Jack said, swiping one wing towards the building, indicating that he wanted to go meet Blu.
Jewel agreed and he led the way to the entrance.
Back with Blu
About 5 minutes after Jewel left Blu had gotten out of his hollow and wanted to go and join her, but he decided to not since he didn't want to get lost trying to find her. Since she was probably far in the jungle by now since she was a fast flyer. So he stayed in the aviary and had a drink from a stream.
Then he relaxed next to the stream, waiting for Jewels to return.
"Blu!" He heard Jewel call out for him. He turned around and saw Jewel landing behind the spot he was relaxing.
"Hey Jewel. I decided to wait for you to come back since I didn't want to get lost." Blu explained his longer than expected absence.
"That's fine, by the way. I'd like you to meet someone." Jewel said, raising Blu's curiousness. Jewel stepped aside to reveal Jack.
"Great… competition..." Blu whispered to himself. "Jewel, who is this?" Blu turned his head towards Jewel.
"Blu, I'd like you to meet Jack." Jewel explained looking at Jack when she said his name.
"Hi, nice to meet you Blu. My name is Tyler Jack Wonderson." Jack held his wing out to shake his wing.
"Oh, you must have had an owner once since Birds don't usually have middle or last names." Blu asked as he accepted his wing to shake. Slightly warming up to him since he thought he had a similar past to him.
"I wasn't a pet, but my parents were so they gave me three names." Jack explained, letting go on Blu's wing.
"Do you two have a history together?" Blu asked looking back and forth at Jack and Jewel.
"Not the most pleasant history but a history nonetheless" Jack explained looking at Blu.
"Welp, I should be heading back to Amelda." Jack said as he stepped back a bit towards the entrance.
"Wait, there's another female?" Jewel asked.
"Oh, did you two think you were the last ones? Because we did too." Jack stated and asked. Blu's fears of Jack trying to woo Jewel were now gone with that information.
"Well can we meet her?" Jewel asked.
"Sure, I'll go get her, she's a bit protective about our hollow, last time strangers came in she got really mad." He explained.
"Okay." Jewel agreed to the terms, after that Jack left to go get Amelda.
"Well, he seems nice." Blu said, sitting down on the rock behind him. "Now, explain that unpleasant history you had with him." Blu asked.
"My friends were bullies to him and I sort of did nothing about it." Jewel explained.
"Ok. is that it?" Blu felt as if there was more to the story then what she was giving.
"Yeah, why?" She didn't have anything to hide, she was being completely honest in her head, well she thought she was at least, leaving out Roberto and her other friends.
"No reason…" Blu said trying to make Jewel drop the subject since he heard everything he needed to hear. Though that didnt get rid of all his insecurities, he had a feeling there was so much more she was hiding from him, but did not want to trigger her PTSD.
Jewel gave him a stern look, hoping to make him crack. "I'm not going to tell you." Blu said, trying to avoid an awkward conversation. But Jewel wasn't going to give up. So she intensified her look at Blu, with more success this time thankfully.
"Fine… I'm scared that even through all my attempts to be with you it's all going to go to waste because you will choose him over me." Jewel felt a bit hurt by this statement.
"Blu, I'm not going to leave you for him. I love you, and only you." Jewel said, putting a wing on him.
His feathers fluffed up, and a shocked expression appeared on his face "Th- that's the first time you have ever said that to me…" Blu said, turning to look at her.
"Y- yeah… I did…" Jewel's feathers fluffed up a bit as well, a bit embarrassed that she just admitted her feelings like that.
"So… was that you talking, or was it just the moment." Blu asked.
Jewel thought about it for a second "It was me talking" She said. Blu smiled at that and came closer to her, and Blu pressed the middle of his beak on her beak, turning his head down so that their beaks would slightly roll on each other, creating a shape reminiscent of a heart between them. They stopped that after about 5 seconds.
"What was that Blu?" Jewel chuckled out.
"Umm, I don't know… Felt right I guess." Blu said, not too sure if he did the right thing or not.
"It did, didn't it?" Jewel said. She liked the feeling of having Blu's beak touch hers. She wanted him to say 'I love you too' but knew that she couldn't force him into that moment. So she will just keep waiting while he keeps
Figuring It Out
FUCK! That chapter took longer than it should have. It's so short for how long it took to write, I got so stuck on how to introduce my OC in the most realistic way. Even though it wasn't that good of an introduction to the character. Anyway. The next chapter will be easier for me to write since I will be building my OCs character a bit.
Sorry if this chapter felt rushed, my goal is to update at least before my story leaves the front page of fanfiction so that people will see it more.
