Hello, I am back with a better chapter than last time. My last chapter was… shit. Absolute shit. I was lost, distracted, and just wanted to get that chapter done. Anyway, onto a BETTER chapter.
Figuring It Out
Chapter 8:
Kicking It Off
The feeling of flight was the best thing that had ever happened to them, for others, they think of it as more of a faster way to travel. Jack was a mix of both, he loves to do tricks when he has spare time, but when he isn't, he spends most of his flying just as a better way to get to places.
After meeting his old "friend" if that's what he would call Jewel, and meeting her boyfriend Blu, he felt as if he had found hope, hope for his species, hope for his friend group that was basically empty for him ever since the fire, other than his girlfriend Amelda Antina.
Amelda has the personality of someone sweet and innocent at first glance, smooth bright blue feathers that slowly fade to a darker shade of blue towards the bottom of her tail and wing feathers, always has a flower on her head, and bright blue eyes, but darker than Jewels.
Jack flew back to his hollow as fast as he could, excited to reveal the news about more Spix Macaws being alive. From where he was at that moment he could see his hollow, it was next to a waterfall, having a great view of the waterfall and the city below, very peaceful location. He called out for his girlfriend as he approached the hollow entrance, preparing to land.
He flapped his wings to slow down and landed on the hollow entrance, "Amelda!" His voice echoed through the very large hollow, with about 5 mini hollows on the inside of the large hollow, each being able to fit at least fully grown macaws. He and Amelda had been working on making the hollow as big as possible for over 8 years now, they are still expanding, planning to have one final mini hollow inside.
Amelda popped her head out of the new mini hollow they were working on. They planned this final hollow to fit 4 full sized macaws, like a master bedroom in a tree hollow. "Hey babe." Amelda answered as she flapped her wings, descending to floor level in front of Jack.
Jack rolled his eyes "Amelda, you know how much I hate that nickname." he said referring to the name teenage couples oftenly call each other. Amelda teasingly approached him.
Amelda looked at him "What nickname babe?" She jokingly asked approaching him. Jack backed up and looked slightly annoyed..
"That nickname, the 'babe' one. It just makes me cringe!" Jack whined out, cringing at the nickname. Amelda knew that he didn't like it, and that's why she called him that.
Amelda chuckled at his reaction "You know I'm just teasing you. so, did you bring back food like I asked you to?" Amelda asked, as she looked behind him for any fruit. But to her disappointment, there wasn't any.
Jack looked down a little disappointed that he failed to do the one thing he was told to, but then looked back up at her again, eager to tell her the news. "No, I didn't, but I did find something better." Jack said eagerly.
Amelda knew he would get side tracked and yet she still allowed him to get the food. "I knew you would do this," she sighed.
She looked back up to him, "So, what's the 'better thing' you found." she used her wings to show a quote on quote when she said "better thing".
"Another Spix Macaw couple!" Jack excitedly shouted. Amelda gasped at hearing that. She couldn't believe that after all this time of it being just them, there was now more.
Amelda looked really excited at that moment "Well who is it?" Amelda asked, looking at Jack with an eager expression.
Jack tucked his wings to his sides and looked at her "It was Jewel and-" Jack was cut off by Amelda
"Roberto?" Amelda said, thinking she finished his sentence. Jack shook his head and opened his beak to say the real answer.
"Surprisingly not, she was with someone who was never even part of the tribe, his name is Blu, as in the mouldy cheese." Jack explained. Amelda was shocked to hear that Jewel wasnt with Roberto since back in the tribe they were really close to each other. "I told them that I would come get you so that they could meet you." Jack explained.
"Well then" Amelda pushed Jack outside the hollow onto the little platform they spent an entire month trying to make, "let's go." Amelda said, pulling the leaf hatch they made to block the wind from getting in when they were out or sleeping.
Jack took off and Amelda followed close behind.
Back with Blu and Jewel
Blu and Jewel sat next to the stream, Jewel leaned on the side of Blu, as Blu rested his head on her head. They were interrupted by the sound of Jack's voice "I'm back!" Jack called from behind them, causing them to turn around in a slight fright.
"Meet, Amelda." Jack said, moving to the side revealing his girlfriend Amelda.
"Hi!" Jewel greeted her, "I'm Jewel" Jewel introduced herself to Amelda.
"Yes I know very well on who you are, we were in the same tribe." Amelda explained, stepping a little closer to Blu and Jewel since there was a pretty big distance between the two couples. "I'm Amelda Antina." Amelda introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you, this is my boyf-" She stopped herself there, still having doubts if she really was, she looked at Blu and he nodded. "This is my Boyfriend, Blu." She finally got to say it.
"Hi" Amelda greeted. "I'm surprised that me and Jack aren't the only survivors from the fire." Amelda explained, bopping her head around occasionally when she said a word.
"Actually, I was never a part of the Jewels tribe." Blu stated, shocking Amelda a bit, but not so much Jack. Amelda thought all Spix macaws were part of the tribe. But apparently not.
With all this talk about Jack's past life, his talons started to burn, as if there was a fire under them, he lifted one talon up and it had lit a small fire. He stomped it out as best he could, eventually he put it out. But for the others, he was stomping nothing, just dirt. Amelda knew what was happening and decided it was a good idea to head back. So she took Jack to the exit and bid her farewell to Blu and Jewel.
Blu saw them leave and then turned to Jewel, "well they seem nice." Blu said smiling at Jewel. Jewel smiled back, happy that Blu was fine with them.
"They do, don't they." Jewel replied with a warm smile. Jewel was happy there were more Spix Macaws now, but not as happy as she was to officially be Blu's girlfriend
With Jack and Amelda
When Jack and Amelda got back to their hollow, Jack told Amelda that he was going to go for another fly. She was totally fine with that and let him go. So Jack flapped his wings and flew away.
But he seemed as if he was guilty of something, as if he was keeping something from everyone else. So he found a nice branch to land on with a view of the entire jungle. He landed and just stared out at the jungle. He stayed there for a while in silence. Until he broke that silence.
"I can't let them know..." Jack whispered to himself before flying off to head back to his hollow.
What dark secret has he been hiding for all these years. Something that could ruin his reputation and change others for the worse. Some things are better left a secret. Even Amelda doesn't know his secret, she's still
Figuring It Out
What is Jack hiding, well that shall all be explained in the prequel that I will be writing.
