Author's Note from Mat49324: Well, folks, it's time for my 10th oneshot of Totally Spies! on my page. I'll also be having assistance from my writing partner, The Blue Time Ranger yet again. Last year, you may remember I had a great idea for a Christmas-related oneshot where the spies went to Hawaii for Christmas only to find out that their flight home was grounded due to snowfall. Nothing like that will happen this time. So, for now, here's The Blue Time Ranger if he's got something he'd like to say.
Author's Note from The Blue Time Ranger: All right, we have another Christmas special! Here's hoping we can end your trip through this insane-o-maniac year with some good ol' Christmas cheer! ROLL IT!
Title: A Christmas to Remember
Summary: Christmas is coming up, and Nick, Mat, and Blaine want to wow their girlfriends for Christmas.
Rating: K+
Story Created: 12/19/20
11:57 A.M. – Malibu University
It was another usual December day at Malibu University. All the spies had finished their term at Mali-U and were relaxing in the penthouse dorm. Mat was a little dejected because his flight to Hawaii was grounded due to the snowfall and mixed conditions.
Currently, Britney, Mat, and Alex were in the penthouse trying to keep warm.
"Geez, I'm still not used to this cold!" Mat chastised.
"I hear ya," Alex told Mat.
Alex definitely remembered when Mat told her that "only in Hawaii is a temperature under 70 considered 'cold' weather."
"Hopefully Sam and Clover are okay since they got called in for a shift at the café," Britney remarked.
They heard the automatic sliding doors open and saw Nick and Blaine just coming in from volleyball practice.
"Dude, I had no idea you can play like that!" Blaine exclaimed at Nick.
"All I can say is that Mali-U might've found a future star," Nick replied. "Who knows... maybe a dynamic duo?"
"Definitely sounds like an interesting idea," Blaine replied.
Upon seeing Nick back, Alex came to her boyfriend for Christmas greetings and joy.
"You even put the hat on," Nick laughed when he saw Alex wearing a Santa hat.
"It seemed appropriate," Alex giggled as she moved to kiss her boyfriend.
"Hey, guys," Mat spoke up. "You see Sam or Clover anywhere?"
"I think Clover was wrapping up," Nick answered. "Sam has another two hours to go."
"What's up?" Blaine asked Mat.
Mat motioned to the boys to come away to speak to them privately.
"Dude, what's with the secrecy?" Nick wondered.
"Well, you remember last year when we went to Hawaii for Christmas, eh?" Mat asked Nick.
"Yeah, we barely made it back in time for the girls' moms," Nick answered.
"I heard bits and pieces about that," Blaine replied. "That must've been pretty stressful."
"Dude, tell me about it," Mat told Blaine.
"What're you thinking we do this year?" Nick wondered.
"Well, we could do a karaoke and do a triple dedication to the girls," Mat suggested. "Well, quadruple if you count Britney."
"Oh, wow," Blaine remarked.
"Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions if either of you have any," Mat replied.
"Honestly, that sounds like a good idea to me," Nick responded.
"Yeah, I'm with Nick on that one," Blaine answered.
The boys were able to come to a complete decision just in time when Clover came in with Sam.
"Hey, boys," Sam greeted when Mat, Nick, and Blaine came into view.
"Hey, babe," Mat replied as she came for a Christmas hug and kiss.
Clover and Blaine did the same since this was their first Christmas together.
"Man, it's a wonderful Christmas-time, isn't it?" Alex laughed.
"It's nice to know that winter around here isn't actually too bad compared to some of the nonsense I had to endure back in Japan," Nick stated.
"Wow, was it really that bad?" Blaine asked.
"Let me put it this way, Blaine," Nick answered. "One winter, we got clipped by a winter storm, and my friend Haruka literally had to dig her way out of her house to get the snowblower."
"Massive OOF on that one," Alex quipped. "That does not sound like fun."
"Especially when I'm the one who gets stuck with the shovel," Nick groaned. "Haruka kinda roped me into helping her out with getting rid of all that snow, and let me tell you, my back was killing me by the time we were finally done. At least the hot chocolate was worth it in the end..."
"And no school, too!" Clover responded. "Snow days were always magical times when we were kids, not having to deal with school..."
"Well, spill it, Nick," Alex giggled. "Got any more interesting winter stories to tell?"
"Oh, I could go on," Nick replied. "How about this one time I had to walk to school in a blizzard?"
"Seriously?!" Mat gasped.
"No joke, bro," Nick stated. "I can count my lucky stars that my family only lived a few blocks away from my school at the time, so it wasn't as bad as it probably could have been."
"Epic luck on that one," Blaine quipped.
"Or how about this one time we actually got to leave school early due to a barrage of snow, and then I got roped into what's probably the most epic snowball fight that Japan's ever seen?" Nick stated.
"Ooh, that sounded like fun!" Alex laughed.
"Snowballs were flying all over the place," Nick proclaimed. "And once again, Haruka gets in on getting a rise out of me by stuffing my hoodie full of snow just in time for me to get beaned in the face!"
"She took the traitor route, huh?" Mat teased.
"I got her back, though," Nick replied. "Buried her under a pile of snowballs later."
"Revengeance is truly a harsh mistress," Clover proclaimed dramatically, to which everyone started laughing.
Later that day, while most of the group was heading to The Groove to get some last-minute shopping done (because of course), Nick was in his dorm room wrapping his present to Alex when he heard a knock on the door.
Before Nick could ask who it was, the door swung open to reveal...
"Well, well, I was hoping I'd find you here."
It was Nick's childhood friend Haruka Reisei, a girl about his age with waist-length brown hair, dark blue eyes, and dressed in an adorable and immensely fluffy Christmas outfit.
"Holy crapbaskets, Haruka?!" Nick shouted, dashing over to hug his old friend. "When did you get here?!"
"I've been in the neighborhood for about a day now," Haruka answered. "My family decided to take a bit of a vacation, and they all knew I wanted to see you again, since it's been, what, five or so years? So, I'm staying here in Beverly Hills until January 4th!"
Haruka caught a glance of what Nick had been working on before her arrival. "So, wrapping a present for your girlfriend, huh?" Haruka quipped.
"...am I really that obvious?" Nick replied.
"Well, to someone who's known you for most of our combined lives, sorta," Haruka laughed. "...you really love her, don't you?"
"Yeah, I do," Nick responded. "I really hope she likes it."
"Knowing you, I'm sure she will," Haruka stated. "Honestly, I'm happy you found someone again. I was so worried after what happened with Nozomi..."
"How long are you going to harp on that?" Nick groaned. "It wasn't even a big deal in the end. You're the one who kept freaking out!"
"Gotta do my duties as your friend, right?" Haruka laughed as she went to help Nick finish wrapping his present.
"You bet," Nick told Haruka. "How's everyone else back there?"
"Well, Nozomi's actually trying out for her college volleyball team," Haruka answered. "Surprising exactly nobody..."
"I hear ya on that one," Nick quipped.
"And if I remember correctly, May actually reconnected with her old circle of friends," Haruka continued.
"Wait, you mean the Jellyfish Pirates?!" Nick gasped. "Holy crap, I haven't heard from them in a long time..."
"Guess they wanted to keep the legacy going," Haruka laughed.
"Oh, hey, I think I hear the others coming in," Nick stated, having finished wrapping his gift thanks to Haruka's assistance. "Let's get out there."
"Sounds like a plan," Haruka quipped as she followed Nick out into the penthouse so he could introduce her to them.
"Glad to see you again, Haruka," Clover remarked.
"Yeah, ditto," Britney replied.
Sam, Alex, and Mat came to hug her, too, and even introduce Haruka to Blaine.
"Anyway, Mat," Sam told her steady boyfriend. "I have my present ready to go for you when the big day comes."
"I do, too, Nick," Alex called out to Nick.
That certainly made Nick happy to say the least.
After everyone was settled in, Nick and Blaine went back to Mat.
"The karaoke sounds like a good idea like I said earlier, bro," Nick told Mat.
"Totally," Blaine added.
"But what song should we go with?" Nick wondered.
"I have a couple in mind," Mat replied. "We could go with This Gift by 98 Degrees, or perhaps Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney..."
"Those sound like total winners," Nick commented.
"My sentiments exactly," Mat replied.
"Totally romantic," Blaine stated.
"Which one should we go with though?" Mat asked. "I was thinking This Gift for the record."
Nick and Blaine looked at each other, and then they nodded at Mat's suggestion.
"Let's do that, then," Blaine proclaimed – obviously making sure that the girls didn't hear.
"I hope they love it," Mat replied. "Especially Sam since it IS a romantic song, after all."
"I'm sure they will," Blaine told him.
"Yeah, bro," Nick added. "I don't think we have anything to worry about."
"Okay, let's do it," Mat remarked.
Meanwhile, out in the den of the spies' penthouse, Sam, Clover, Alex, and Britney were having a nice chat with Haruka while catching up with one another. Sam had even informed Haruka of their Christmas last year where they all went to Hawaii (save for Blaine) and almost couldn't get home in time to be with their moms because their flight home was grounded due to snowfall.
"You guys must be pretty lucky to have someone like Jerry to get you out of snags like that," Haruka quipped. "Almost wish I'd had something like that during the 'great snowout'..."
"Yeah, that sounded like Nick with the shovel," Alex responded, to which everyone started laughing.
"I wonder what happened to the guys..." Britney stated.
"They'll be here," Sam assured, adjusting her top.
"I can't wait to give my present to Nick though," Alex replied.
"Yeah, the suspense is killing me with my present for Mat," Sam added.
A little later, the boys returned from hiding. Sam and Alex went to Mat and Nick respectively for hugs and kisses.
"Should we start with our gifts first?" Sam wondered and then looked at Alex, Clover, and Britney.
"Yeah, let's do that," Alex replied. "How about you go first, Sammy?"
"Okay," Sam merely replied.
She then approached Mat and got out her present.
"For you, hon," Sam told him. "Merry Christmas!"
"Oh wow, Sam," Mat quipped. "You shouldn't have..."
After Mat unwrapped his present, he oohed at it. It was not one, but TWO framed photos – one was Sam and Mat kissing on Waikiki Beach from last year's Christmas; the second was Sam and Mat on a prior mission and they were hugging each other. There was also a card included, too, which Mat read.
Merry Christmas my darling Mat! I'm yours forever!
Love,
Sam
"Wowee, Sam!" Mat exclaimed. "This is a great Christmas present!"
The two shared a hug and a kiss. Mat didn't forget Britney and handed her a gift card – as well as Sam.
"I had in mind that you, me, and Sam get a pizza together, too," Mat told Britney.
"Oh wow, thank you!" Britney exclaimed.
"My turn!" Alex proclaimed, reaching out to retrieve her gift and hand it off to Nick.
After going to town on the wrapping paper, Nick glanced at what was inside: a cute silver locket with a picture inside, that of Nick and Alex flashing a double peace sign at the site of their first date.
"You still remembered after all this time," Nick stated.
"How could I forget?" Alex replied. "That was a magical day for me, and I'm still shocked that I managed to find such an amazing boyfriend..."
"Hey, if anything, I'm the lucky one," Nick admitted as he slipped the locket around his neck and handed Alex his gift to her, which she tore open with almost the same enthusiasm he'd had (he liked to believe he was rubbing off on her).
Alex couldn't help but gasp in shock as she saw the jewel-encrusted wristband decorated with purple jewels.
"And you still remembered my favorite color," Alex gasped.
"It helped that it's my favorite color, too," Nick responded.
"Seriously, Nick, what did I do to deserve you?" Alex giggled as she leaped over to hug her boyfriend.
"Something pretty awesome, probably," Nick teased as he and Alex shared a kiss.
Clover came to Blaine with a really nice love charm with her name and Blaine's name engraved on the halves. Clover's name was on the left, and Blaine's was on the right.
"Thank you guys for the amazing gifts," Alex giggled.
"Well, we're not exactly done yet," Blaine admitted as Nick stepped out for a split second.
"We've got one more surprise for all of you," Mat stated as Nick returned with their karaoke machine. "I discussed this with the boys, and we decided we wanted to sing something for all of you, just our way of showing how much we love you."
Nick pressed the buttons on the karaoke machine until it reached the song the boys had agreed to sing, then grabbed his microphone.
"Time for a little Christmas serenade," Nick proclaimed. "All right, guys, HIT IT!"
("This Gift" by 98 Degrees plays)
As the music began, Nick handed mics off to Blaine and Mat, and all three sang along to the lyrics. As expected, the girls grinned at this present to them.
Nick approached Alex during the first verse.
"The snow is falling. The city is white. Your eyes are shining like diamonds tonight," Nick sang. "And we're all alone, there's no one home, you're finally in my arms again."
At that time, Nick gave Alex a hug and Blaine and Mat jumped in to sing along.
"The night is silent and Christmas is here. I couldn't ask for more than having you near cause I love you, girl. I always will, and now I know the moment is right..."
Then came the chorus, which they still sang along to.
"Cause I've been waiting to give this gift tonight... I'm down on my knees. There's no better time. It's... something to last for as long as you live. Tonight, I'm gonna give you all my heart can gi-ive," The three boys sang.
When the lyrics got to "I'm down on my knees," Nick got on both knees and grabbed Alex's hand. She gasped and got emotional, thinking it was a proposal.
During the second verse, Mat approached Sam while the three were still singing.
"I thought I'd give you something shiny and new. I tried to find something worthy of you, but I realized when I looked inside, there's some things that money can't buy... oh no!" Mat sang. "I feel the magic whenever you're near. I feel it even more this time of the year cause I love you, girl. I always will... and now I know the moment is right!"
He then got on his knees when the chorus repeated. Sam was completely shocked at seeing this from Mat as he gave her a red rose; she smiled ear to ear and got emotional at that.
While in the third verse, Blaine approached Clover and repeated the process by getting on his knees in front of her.
"You know I'll always be true to you, and you know I'm the one you can turn to," Blaine sang. "Anytime... anyplace... or anywhere. You know that I'll always be there... oh baby..."
"OMG!" Clover exclaimed briefly as she got emotional, too.
As the chorus repeated twice for the final stanza, all three boys joined in again. Blaine stayed on his knees as Nick and Mat got back on their knees again in front of Alex and Sam respectively. Needless to say, the girls were moved inside as the song came to a close.
"We hope ya liked it," Mat quipped as the boys got to their feet.
Sam, Clover, and Alex could not think of what to say; all they did was nod as they all hugged their boyfriends tightly.
"That's an awesome way to say 'Merry Christmas' in my book," Sam finally stated.
"I totally won't forget this," Alex sighed.
"We ALL won't," Clover added.
Britney nodded, even though she and Haruka watched on the sidelines. With that, the girls exchanged a passionate Christmas kiss with their boyfriends.
"Those girls are incredibly lucky to have such awesome boyfriends," Britney quipped.
"I hear ya on that one," Haruka answered.
"Thank you," the three spies whispered to their boyfriends.
"We'll never forget this," Sam added.
"Totally," Clover emotionally replied.
Totally Spies: A Christmas to Remember
~The End~
Final Note from Mat49324: And with that, our Christmas oneshot has come to an end. We hope you liked it, and we hope you all have a great Christmas as we leave this hella awful year behind us where overreacting kept reaching all-time lows with COVID-19 and all. I will say that using this particular song brought back memories for me because one of my high school Christmas assemblies used This Gift by 98 Degrees. For now, we hope you liked this as we get ready. Anyway, I'll hand it off now to The Blue Time Ranger if he's got something he'd like to say.
Final Note from The Blue Time Ranger: Yeah, this year has been hell and back for many different reasons, not just COVID-19 (protip: don't talk politics around me, for that is a rabbit hole I do not want to jump down), so we figured we'd bring you a Christmas one-shot to celebrate the season!
Well, I have a kingdom to save (got Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for Christmas!), so I'm off! Until next time, have a fantastic holiday, don't listen to the screeching morons, and we'll see you next mission!
