The aftermath of Jack's actions had been tremendous, and for many, difficult to believe. After Jack was swiftly caught and arrested by Chip Chocolate and Flippy Doggenbottom, the Toontown Rangers were called to Funny Farms to help with the cleanup. It had proven difficult enough to explain to the hypnotized Toons what had happened, but it was just the beginning. The next two days were spent urgently searching out the remainder of the missing Toons who had been locked away somewhere. Thanks to vague recollections from Quentin, as well as the concerted efforts of all, the other seventy of the disappeared were found. Quentin had been correct in his assumption that they were down in the tunnels below the California. Much to Chip's frustration as they had passed by them on their initial visit through. Most had lost large amounts of weights due to the torturous treatment from Jack who had starved them in an attempt to break them mentally and force them to join him. When they were rescued, many wept. Some didn't know what to do and started running in circles or other strange actions. "I still get paid for all of them, right?" Chip had joked, drawing a side-eye from Flippy who realized that he was probably going to have to pay the monkey still. After the search had been completed the realization that the "other" Funny Farms had not been visited since Chip and Quentin had left with Mike. The trio had went, bringing along any residents of the town who had been hypnotized or kidnapped by Jack through the long, blood-soaked tunnels.

Nobody really knew what to expect when they finally reached the time-stuck town. Would the spell be broken, or would they still be in an endless loop of the same day. Jack had refused to cooperate or to give them any information, instead choosing to be a martyr and requesting that he be given death in order to reach eternal salvation. Something nobody would grant. They had tried for hours to get him to at least let them know how to stop the time-looping, but once again he refused and just cackled madly. Trying to explain to the rescued Funny Farms Toons that the town that they had been in was fake, and their real home had been placed in an inescapable wormhole that forced them to re-live the same day, and that they had been transported fifty years into the future, unsurprisingly, didn't take well. Most just wanted to go home and find their families, including The Apple who had been begging to see her younger sister from the second she was found. "Alright, we're almost there. Just a warning to everybody, there is a chance that your loved ones will not even realize you were gone for very long. Try to be understanding. After all, they have been living the same day for eight years." Flippy had warned them. As soon as they entered the door into the alternate California, the dam broke and Toons began rushing to where they belonged. Only three Toons stayed behind. Flippy, Chip, and The Apple. Quentin had taken his crew and immediately began filming on his movie. He had been inspired by the grit and pain on their faces and felt that it would add much to the experience.

"So, you guys talked to my sister? How is she doin'? I hope she's alright. If'n everything y'all said is true than I hope she's alright." The red deer rubbed the side of her head anxiously.

"No worries. She is doing okay. Actually, she didn't even realize you were gone very long. She might still not. I just want you to be prepared, because tomorrow you might wake up and have to re-live today again. Well, I mean within the town. Not the whole Jack thing. Well I hope not, I'm not going through that again." Chip tried to speak in a joking manner to cheer up the deer.

Flippy patted The Apple on the back and smiled. "Don't worry. Everything is going to be fine. Why don't we all go see her together." The trio exited the hotel and made the short walk down the street to Danny's. Although it was still daylight, it didn't appear that the small diner was open yet. "Hmm, what time is it right now? It doesn't seem like time is synced up with the outside world."

Pulling out his whisper device, Chip scratched his head. "I guess it is only five-fifty eight." They open in two minutes. Almost immediately after saying that, a familiar yellow horse came strolling out of the kitchen and into the lobby. Peering through the window, Chip waved his arms trying to catch her attention. "Right on time." The young waitress sprinted over to the door, unlocking it and tearing the door open.

"The Apple! What're you doin' here! I thought you were going to be gone on yer trip fer another couple a days?" The Banana smiled and waved everyone inside. "Wait, and Chip? Ain't you a sight fer sore eyes. Two days in a row, must really've liked the food! Come on, come take a seat, I'll get y'all some coffee."

"Wait, wait, wait." Chip was flabbergasted at The Banana's seemingly inane comment. "You said two days in a row. As in, I was here yesterday and now I am here on a day following yesterday."

The yellow deer raised an eyebrow and snickered. "Yeah, unless I'm mistaken y'all for someone else. You came in with that black cat and you guys left with Mike. Said y'all were goin' somewhere." Suddenly skeptical, The Banana leaned forward and tilted her head. "Hey, where is Mike anyway. Weren't y'all goin' somewhere?"

"Wait, sis." The Apple took her sister in a bear hug, pinning her close. "Can't believe I can actually see you again. Never thought I would. What a fool I was."

"Alright. Alright." The Banana pushed herself away. "Someone tell me what's goin' on here!" Crossing her arms in frustration, Chip and Flippy looked at each other, trying to decide who would be the one to find the words that could even make sense to someone in her position. Eventually it was decided that Chip would do it as he had a somewhat closer relationship. The next fifteen minutes were spent explaining everything that he knew. From his first step into Funny Farms, everything Mike had told them (leaving out his death), and everything leading up to the rescue of all the Toons. Once the monkey had finished explaining, Chip gave the fawns a moment to regroup themselves. Even though the Apple had been told what had happened, hearing it and seeing her younger sister's reaction was enough to cause her immense pain. "I don't understand..."

Flippy stood up and rubbed the back of his head. "I understand that you have just taken in a lot, I don't blame you for being confused. I could hardly believe it myself, but it is true. We can go and show you the alternate town if that would help?"

The Banana looked to her sister who nodded silently, unable to speak. "No. No, that'll be fine. It's just. I don't understand how someone could do something like that. Both figuratively and literally. Why would someone wanna do that to us? I mean, eight years? I don't feel a day older at all. Plus, you're basically saying y'all are from the future. I don't understand."

"I know, hon. Just, let's just forget about it. We're all together now. I think we should get Mike and give him a bug hug of appreciation for everything he did for us all. I think if he explains things to the town, everyone will understand. He was always real good at explainin' things." The Apple smiled and hugged her sister again.

Flippy and Chip looked at each other silently, gaining the attention of the pair of sisters. "Why don't you two take a seat. There's something else I need to tell you." The brown monkey once again decided that it would be best for him to be the one to break the news. He wanted to keep his promise to Mike. Nobody was supposed to know. However, it didn't seem fair to deny the town closure on his death. After all, he was a hero and deserved a better send-off than being dumped in a shallow ditch in the desert. Chip painfully detailed the final hours of Mike's life, including his sacrifice to help save Funny Farms and stop Jack and his current resting spot. By the end, both deer were bawling. It was the straw that broke the camel's back after such a whirlwind of emotions. "I'm very sorry for your loss. He was a great Toon." Chip didn't know how to proceed, he had never been a great deliverer of bad news.

"Mike really loved this town, and he cared deeply about you two." Flippy stepped in, ever the excellent speaker. "He could have easily gave up, abandoned everybody and went off to live a better life. He could have given up and ended things sooner, but he stayed to protect you all. Even in his final moments, he was more worried about you all than his own terrible fate. Do not be sad that he is gone, be happy that we were lucky enough to have such a monument of Tooniness. Now, I think that the rest of the town should be alerted so that a proper burial and celebration of his life and actions can be done. Funny Farms is finally free... That is what he fought for. He should be able to relish in that, at least one last time..."

Several days had passed since Toons returned to Funny Farms, and Toontown. Families were reunited and the growing mystery and intrigue of Funny Farms only seemed to attract more attention to the small town on the outskirts of nowhere. Visitors from Toontown and Valentoonia had flocked to the magical destination to get a look at the dual cities, to travel back in time, and to try and gain a bit of the magic. A three-day celebration had kicked off to honor Mike's life. A large parade had gone through the entire town, starting at his office. His closest friends had gone with Chip to retrieve the corpse and bring it back to Funny Farms. Everybody had a chance to give a proper goodbye, including many of the Toons from Toontown and Valentoonia who had become victim to Jack. Even Quentin had showed up and shed a few tears, although if you asked him he just had sand in his eyes. At the burial, The Apple and The Banana had both given rousing speeches, thanking the Toon who had been like a father for them, leaving not a single dry eye. Chip, Flippy, and Quentin were all given honorary keys to the city for their work in saving the town, and some had even asked Chip to run for mayor. After the festivities had ended, the duo of Chip and Flippy had met with Quentin one last time at Danny's which had become a hotspot for tourists, much to the delight of Danny who had been struggling financially prior to the events. "So, this sure beats the pumpkin juice you told me about, I'm guessing." Quentin joked as Chip engorged himself on his third glass of lemonade.

"Yeah, just a bit." Chip quipped. "So guys, what is next for you?" He asked his newfound friends.

Flippy leaned forward and whispered, smiling. "Don't tell anybody because this is still not confirmed to anybody else, but... Mickey is retiring as mayor. Apparently he has some larger ambitions. Anyways, he said that I should run for mayor and I think I'm going to take that offer. With Mickey's endorsement, there is no way that I could lose. I've heard that Slappy Quackintosh might also run, but honestly I'm not worried about him. He's popular in The Brrrrgh, but... eh. Anyways, don't tell anybody. I don't want to draw any unnecessary criticism yet. Alright?"

"That's great, Flippy! This is turning out to be quite the eventful week. Both of could have been running for mayor. Unfortunately, I don't think the family wants to move out here, and frankly neither do I. Even though this food is delicious!" The monkey made sure to accentuate his last words as The Banana had walked by and given him a sarcastic look. "I honestly just want to get home. I think I'm going to retire from detective stuff."

"Wow, well what are you going to do then?" Quentin asked between a bite of pancakes, spittling food over the other pair of Toons. "I guess if you ever want to get into movies I could probably find a spot for you. We're almost wrapping up the last few scenes on this project, but I'm sure something will pop up again soon."

The blue dog laughed at the offer as he imagined Chip as an actor. "Sorry, Chip. Nothing against you, but I don't think you have the presence to be on the big screen."

"Hey, what does that mean? I would be an amazing actor? That's not what I want to do though, so I guess you'll get your wish. I've always really wanted to work on cars. I've heard that they're opening up a speedway outside of Toontown Central and will be in need of some grease monkeys?" Chip smiled as he daydreamed about it.

"You know, that doesn't mean you literally need to be a monkey to work there." Quentin added. "Eh, whatever. That seems... fun? Alright, well the offer is on the table. Anyways, you both are invited to the premier when my movie hits the big screen. It is going to be called "The Toon, The Cog, and the Unattractive."

Chip rubbed his forehead, trying not to laugh. "Um, that's quite a name. What is the Unattractive part about?"

"Well it is an unattractive situation for all involved. It is going to be gritty, dark, and make everybody who watches it question their own ideals. It will be my masterpiece. Well at least until my next movie."

"Couldn't you think of something better. Why not, The Toon, The Cog, and The Gritty?" Flippy refrained from breaking out into laughter at the entire name. "Or you know, just something completely different? What about Toon Grit?"

Quentin steamed at the suggestions questioning his brilliance. "Listen, if you want to direct your own movie, you can name it what you want. I will call it what I want to call it. You will all cry when you watch it!" The trio laughed and joked for a few hours before the sun started to set and the diner began to make its closing preparations.

Pulling out his whisper device, Chip groaned at the time. "Looks like its already almost six, guys. I think maybe we should start heading home. Michael, Berry, and Lana are probably worried about me. I have been gone for like two weeks now, I should probably get back there."

"Hey, they should be thankful that they got a break from you. Heck, they're probably partying it up right now." The black cat stood up and stretched, speaking through an elongated yawn. "I guess I should get back to the hotel. We have a bit of shooting and small things left to do." As he started heading to the door, he stopped and turned around. "Hey, maybe when I get back to Toontown we can all go get a drink or something." The coldhearted Quentin seemed to have melted, for the first time in his life he had Toons he would consider friends. Even if he couldn't say it out loud.

"Definitely. Get home safe, alright?" Chip waved to his friend who promptly left the restaurant, leaving a dinging sound ringing though the air, leaving the pair remaining. Turning to Flippy, the brown simian smiled mischievously and winked at his friend. "So I guess now we can talk about my payment."

Sighing, Flippy wrapped his arm around his friend and threw his head back. "Well, to be fair, I helped find them. So I think that should take off part of it, right?"

"Ah, don't be such a cheapskate. I know you want to run for mayor, but it doesn't mean you can't help out a friend. Fine, how about I take half the payment, Quentin and you can split the other half. I guess he probably deserves something. Maybe it can help him get some of the money back when his movie bombs with such a dumb title." The two laughed loudly, clapping and slapping their thighs. "We'll figure it out. Anyways, I think my car disappeared so maybe we could ride back together?"

"Wait a minute, guys." The Banana wandered over and slapped a check down on the table. "Don't think yer gettin' any family discount. Just because y'all saved the town an' everything."

Flippy pulled out his jellybean bank and chuckled. "Of course, I wouldn't think about it." As he began to read over the paper, he looked up confused. "Wait, how much do I owe you?"

"Well, I was thinkin' maybe you could do somethin' else. Well you see, Mike mentioned Toontown and... I've been a bit curious to see it. Actually, The Apple really wanted to go to. Mike never ended up gettin' to go, so I thought it might be fun if we gotta chance to go and see what the big city is like. Neither of us know how ta drive and certainly not how ta get there. Y'all think you could give too sweet young things a ride there?"

The brown monkey turned to his partner and stroked his chin. "Hmm. I don't know, Flip. Do you think Toontown has room for two scoundrels like these?"

Catching on, Flippy mimicked his friend. "I'm not sure, Chip. Although they did give us a delicious lunch, and have put up with us for the last few hours. I guess we can give them a chance. After all, Lily might be able to find some use for them cleaning dishes or something."

The Banana smacked Flippy lightly. "Hey, I ain't no maid. I'm comin' on vacation! Now y'all takin' us or am I gonna have to break out the tears?"

"Alright, alright. Go ahead and get packed and meet back here in an hour. Just remember, Toontown is a long drive. You're going to want to bring snacks and use the bathroom." Chip acted as if he was giving in, knowing he would actually be quite appreciative of the company on the long trip home. The Banana lit up and hugged the monkey. "Thank ya, thank ya! Y'all won't regret this! I'll run right home and grab The Apple! Don't leave without us!" Without another word, the deer flew out of the restaurant, darting down the street shaking her fist. "Cute kid."

"You're like a year older than her." Flippy scoffed.

Shaking his head, Chip frowned. "It was a fun. Get it, kid? Like a baby deer?"

"I think you're thinking of goats. Baby deer are fawns." Quickly correcting the simian, Flippy grinned at his knowledge.

"Oh, just let me have this one. Eh, whatever. I guess we can start saying goodbye to Funny Farms though. What a ride this was. I can't say it wasn't memorable for sure. But, I didn't die and that's more than I thought would have happened at least a few times." The pair walked outside into the still warm evening. Gazing up at the sky, they admired the beautiful purple and orange colors that had replaced the bright blue as sunset began to take place. "Crazy that such a beautiful place was hiding such a dark secret. So, what happens to Jack now?"

Sliding his pointer finger across his throat, Flippy closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and held out his tongue. "Just kidding. He'll go on trial, likely be put in jail for a long time and have any potential power stripped from him. I'd advocate to banish him from Toontown but we saw what he can do when he goes elsewhere. We can't allow such a dangerous Toon to ever strike again. We already have the cogs to deal with. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about raising a family in this crazy world. I don't know if I could ever be a father, just too much to worry about. It is why I admire you so much, Chip. You're a real dad, puns and all."

"I'm a dad? You're the one who tucks his shirt into his shorts. I don't think my great-grandfather does that." The two continue their conversation as they made their way down the street, off into this distance laughing and smiling. They were finally free. Finally safe, and finally going home.
