So, uh...This is sort of a rant fic XD I guess, it says a lot of things but doesn't really go anywhere XD

Also, I've seen the Counts name spelled a couple different ways, I personally like the "Alric" spelling the most, so I'm going with it XD

Each summer the students went back to their homes for about 3 months. They left the last weekend of May, and returned the last weekend of August. All except Oscar, who of course, already was home. Though, he did move sleeping locations. When the other students were at the school, he liked to sleep in the crypt, like the rest of the students. But when the students were gone, he would go back to his actual room.

His actual room was in the east wing of the castle, where a large wooden door cut the area off from the rest of the school. This area was Oscar and his uncles "house." The door was always locked unless Alric or Oscar was in it. The Count certainly couldn't allow a bunch of children wandering around his living quarters. Aside from being an invasion of privacy, it could also be dangerous, there were many artifacts from the Von Horrificus line. Many artifacts were weapons, and the last thing anyone needed was a nosey student (coughStokercough) getting impaled by a spear.

Alric also kept his room locked, he is a very private man. Oscars room was much more of a normal room than what the crypt was, minus the coffin, but that was a vampire normal. Alric nor his nephew were in these living quarters very much, thus it didn't look very lived in. The only reason it wasn't dusty was because Alric kept it clean. Lenny wasn't in charge of cleaning this area, because he was the custodian, not a house maid. His job was cleaning the school, not Alric's home.

Why am I telling you all of this? Cause lore, that's why! And my brain makes far too much of it. So shut up and enjoy XD

Summers were always so boring, both to Alric and Oscar. Oscar didn't have much to do; Sunshine was awake for only so long in the evening, and his other friends lived too far to visit. So, much of summer was spent watching movies, reading books, and exploring the area. Oscar cared very much about his uncle, but he couldn't exactly say that the man was fun to hang out with. Which made sense, neither of them were talkers, but both were listeners. With nether of them being big on talking, a lot of their family life consisted of awkward silences. So they tended to avoid each other.

Alric was also quite bored during summer. With all the students and teachers gone, all that was left was paper work…which got done faster because of the lack of trouble, and there was also less due to the lack of students. Even after getting everything he could possible do done, there was still plenty of night/summer left. So, much of his summer consisted of reading books. Though he was a fast reader and starting to run out of books from the family library. He hadn't bought a book since the early 19th century, and the last book he had received he promptly burned.

Kryptina had given him some awful book titled "50 Shades of Grey." He threw it into a fireplace the second he read far enough to figure out what kind of book it was. He could still hear her cackling….

Alric was currently walking around the library, coffee in hand. Surly he hadn't read all the books throughout the years. He was taken out of his search as he heard the door open, and short quick footsteps. He turned to see Oscar, holding a box. The almost 13 year old walked cautiously towards his uncle, a slight smile on his face.

"Uncle…could I have a pet?" the boy grinned sheepishly.

"….That depends on a few things, most importantly, what kind of pet?" Alric raised a brow.

He was fairly open to pets of all kinds, he quite liked animals. Though like with everything, he had rules. He could simply not allow a hippo or an elephant in the castle.

Oscar opened the box and held it up for his uncle to see. Inside was a very tiny white kitten, with orange, brown, and black patches. The poor thing barely had its eyes open.

"I found her in an alleyway, she was all by herself." Oscar explained sadly.

Alric looked at the kitten for a moment, giving it a slight pet under it's chin.

"Humm, I suppose as long as you are responsible, you may keep her."

The boy lit up happily.

"So, what's her name? I know you didn't bring her all the way up here without thinking about one." Alric gave a very subtle smile.

"Herbst." Oscar smiled proudly.

Oscar kept the kitten in a training cage in his room. Once Herbst was litterbox trained, she could walk around freely. Orthos seemed to take quite the shine to the kitten. Alric once walked into his office to find the wolf hound curled up with Herbst. Alric still isn't sure how he got the kitten out of the cage…

So….I'm not really sure what else to do with this chapter…I wrote all I wanted too. XD So, I hope you enjoyed it XD
