Kim shifted Inya from one hip to the other as she wove her way through the crowds of the airport, "You know Grandma," Kim said as she glanced over her shoulder at the older woman who was lugging a large suitcase with her, "I was kind of nervous when I heard that you were in town and wanted to meet, but now, I think that I'll actually miss you."
Grandma smiled, "Yes, I'm glad that I finally got to know you, and my son," she added darkly, shaking her head, her sweet boy wasn't as sweet and innocent as she had thought, but at least she had finally got a chance to meet her now ex-daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren.
Tommy nodded his head, swinging Ellie up onto his shoulder as he scooped up her doll, that as usual, had come with to say goodbye to grandma before she boarded her plane back to Florida.
"I wish you could stay," Jaslee said, tugging on her grandmother's shirt, "My school is going to the Zoo soon and it would be so much fun if you could go with us."
Grandma Harmon laughed, ruffling her oldest granddaughter's hair, "Yes, I'm sure that it would be fun, maybe we can make arrangements to go to the zoo during my next visit."
"Really, oh boy," Jaslee exclaimed, dancing happily back to stand next to her mother.
Tommy made sure that all three of the girls were with their mother before turning to his wife's ex-mother-in-law, "Remember, what Kim and I told you is top secret, if it becomes known that our girls have powers then they will never have a normal life."
"Don't worry," she said, "I am not my son, I understand why some things need to be kept a secret."
Tommy nodded satisfied with her answer, "Well I guess that we will see you later."
…
Tommy pinched the bridge of his nose to try to stave off a headache that was threatening to form. Headaches were starting to be a common occurrence he noted. It was from the stress of protecting the girls and Kim. Nothing bad had happened since they had got Kim back from Germany. Maybe he should relax, then again, Silverback had been able to snatch Kim from a parking lot in Angel Grove when he hadn't been around for just a few minutes.
He really shouldn't be working at the school, he figured, he should be working at the gym with Kim. Then again, he doubted that anyone who knew who they were would do something with Zordon a shout away. Then again what if some jerk who didn't know who he and Zordon were decided to stir up trouble? What if Kimberly finally decided that she did blame him for what happened? What if he loosened up a little bit, and someone got hurt?
Tommy threw his hands in the air as he climbed out of his jeep, he needed to stop overthinking things, he had a class he needed to teach, and he needed to do it well if he wanted to become a full-time teacher.
"Are you okay Dr. O?" a young strong voice asked causing him to jump, slamming the door to his jeep shut, how long had he been standing there just staring out into nothing. He whirled around to find himself staring at Connor McKnight.
His former teammate and student was smirking at him, "Sorry Dr. O," he said with a large grin that told Tommy that he wasn't sorry at all for startling him.
"What are you doing here Connor?" Tommy demanded, trying to pull himself together. If Connor thought something was wrong with him every single power ranger would know about it by the time he got home from work.
"I'm here on business," Connor said, "I need volunteers to help with my Soccer Camp. Ms. Randall's said that I could talk to the PE classes today and find out if anyone would be interested."
Tommy nodded, Jaslee would probably enjoy the soccer camp, but what if she fell and skinned her knee, what if she decided that she didn't like soccer, no it would be best not to bring it up at all.
Connor watched his former teacher and teammate, he seemed distracted, and there were bags under his eyes that hadn't been near as pronounced as they had been the last time he had saw him at the wedding in Angel Grove, and his hair was a little more disheveled than usual. There had been rumors going around the usual Power Ranger Grapevines that Dr. O was slowly falling apart since getting back together with Kimberly. Then again, according to some of the more seasoned Rangers, those that knew both Kimberly and Dr. O claimed that he was consumed by guilt.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Connor asked, tilting his head to one side, "Because you look like Zeltrax could just blow you over at the moment."
Tommy pressed his hands on his eyes and pressed down before wiping them away, did he really look that bad? He shook his head, Connor was probably exaggerating, "I'm fine, I just had to get up early to take Mrs. Harmon to the airport this morning."
Tommy laughed in what he hoped was a lighthearted manner before walking towards the school. Connor moved to intercept him, "The last time I saw you this tired was when you ended up fighting nightmares all night."
"So Ellie had a nightmare last night," Tommy lied, trying to brush past Connor, when had he regained his super-speed anyway, "Don't worry, I'm used to functioning on little to no sleep, fighting monsters as a hobby really messes with your sleep schedule."
Connor frowned, refusing to move, Power Rangers were horrible liars, it was a common fact among them, either that or they just knew each other so well that they can't fool each other, but at that moment he knew that something besides Ellie's nightmare was the cause of his former teacher's ragged appearance.
