"Jedi school?"

Rey Palpatine asked her grandfather with a cocked brow, her skepticism seeping through her words.

General Palpatine smiled softly to his young granddaughter as he replied

"Yes, you are force sensitive and so you must go learn"

"But can't you teach me?"

She looked at her grandfather, eyes full of hope.

He quickly dismissed the idea, he had once been force sensitive, but after the abrupt death of his son and daughter-in-law, his mind grew dark and cold, only his granddaughter had pulled him from the darkness and thanks to the help of Qui-Gon Jin, he managed to remain on the light and had severed himself from the force, ensuring that his mind were to never sway again.

"You will go to the Skywalker academy, I will visit you often"

He smiled sadly at her as he noticed the wisps of tears form on her eyes.

She hugged her grandfather tightly, she didn't want to part from him. After the death of her parents when she was only a child, her grandfather was the only constant in her life, he took on the role as both parents and grandparent and she loved him so for it.

Reluctantly she pulled away from her grandfather and turned to her room as she stated solemnly

"I'll get my bag ready"

Ben Solo was the rising star at the Skywalker academy, living up to his parentage.

He was currently meditating with other force sensitive jedi-to-be when he felt a sway within the force, almost like a pull.

He peeked his eyes open and noted his grandfather Anakin speaking and embracing another man, one that he recognised to be General Palpatine.

He remembered his mother speaking to him about Palpatine, of how he had helped his grandfather during a time where peace was amiss in the galaxy, his eyes gazed to the figure of a young girl that had her hands clasped to Palpatines robes, and for some strange reason Ben couldn't pull his gaze from her as the sound of the force vibrated within his core.

Anakin turned to his students, a smile wide on his face as he introduced his guests.

"My fellow kin, please give a warm welcome to General Palpatine, and his granddaughter Rey"

Rey

Her name seeped in Ben's mind as he watched her, she looked cautious and clearly didn't look like someone that wanted to be here.

Anakin motioned for Ben to stand by him, he complied and blushed slightly as he felt her gaze on him as he went to his grandfathers side.

"This is my grandson Ben Solo"

He wore a proud smile as he gestured for Ben to say hello

Ben groaned internally as he stood forward and bowed his head

"Hello General Palpatine"

Palpatine smiled warmly towards Ben and turned to show Rey, stating simply

"Rey is force sensitive, and I think it would be best if she had your guidance"

Anakin smiled towards Rey and gave Palpatine a nod in understanding

Ben couldn't help but feel the emotions surging in Reys mind, she really didn't want to be here.

Rey looked at Ben, a scowl adorning her face as she felt the pull of the force.

She never wanted to be force sensitive, so why is this guy reminding her of the thing that she currently despises?

Anakin motioned to the others to keep meditating, while he, Ben, Palpatine and a very reluctant Rey left for a private discussion.

Anakin had led them to a rather dull looking library, Rey noted the array of books that were in ancient text that she couldn't comprehend, but there was one book that seemed to catch her eye. She frowned as she felt the force hum in agreement as she glanced to Ben who was now holding the book, she wouldn't comply and join him, instead she stuck to Palpatines side and taking on her grandfathers persona, she spoke up, in a rather commanding tone

"I will not be staying here, I would rather sever my ties with the force"

Palpatine frowned at her statement, while Ben was shocked by the sudden outburst and couldn't quite explain why his heart tightened from the thought of her severing herself from the force.

Anakin smiled, a wise smile, a smile that caused Rey to gulp in apprehension.

"I'm afraid you won't be able to sever the bond"

He beckoned for her to sit near him as he continued, she complied and reluctantly pulled herself from Palpatines side.

"The force is everywhere, and Rey it is strong with you"

His smile grew fond as he glanced over to Ben, a knowing grin on his face as he glanced back to Rey

"You will do amazing things, things that I am sure your grandfather will be thrilled about"

Palpatine nodded his agreement, he had never had a jedi in the family, he had thought that perhaps Reys mother was sensitive to the force, but she died before he had the chance to find out.

Rey glanced between the two elders and then lowered her gaze to Ben, the pull was there again and this time she felt curious about it and so she slowly nodded her head in agreement.

"Fine, I'll stay"

Rey had been training at the Skywalker academy for a few days now, she had been avoiding and straight up ignoring Ben Solos presence as the pull within her mind whenever he was near, grew stronger, she feared what it might mean and had decided that she needed to ask someone about it.

She had been looking through the library, glancing through the ancient text with her translator in hand, so if she felt a pull to a certain text then she would be ready.

She realised that the book that she had felt the force hum to, was no longer here.

Perhaps Solo has it?

She mused to herself, she had turned to leave when she ran into Luke Skywalker.

"Rey, how are you?"

He asked politely, she hadn't seen him much since joining the academy, but she knew who he was and of his accomplishments as a Jedi.

"I am fine, thank you Master Luke"

She nodded her head and turned to leave when he stopped her, an act which surprised her.

"The force is strong with you"

He stated but the disbelief was very evident in his tone.

Rey couldn't find words to reply and so remained staring at the Jedi, she realised that he may be the best person to ask

"Why do I feel the force pull at me whenever there is someone near?"

She asked simply, the demeanor of a generals granddaughter was evident as she adjusted her posture and focused her gaze on the Jedi master.

Luke quirked his head as he asked

"What do you mean? Who is it with?"

"Ben. Whenever he is near, the force pulls at me.."

she frowned at the thought

Luke smiled brightly and nodded

"That's fine, its because you are Dyads in the force"

"I'm sorry, what?"

Reys brows furrowed as she watched Luke, waiting an answer.

Ben suddenly entered the room and the pull was there again, it felt more ferocious now and she blushed profusely as Ben looked at her.

"I.. I have to..-go.."

She turned on her heel and ran.

Luke chucked as he watched her leave.

"Uncle, can I ask you a question?"

The voice of Ben perked in Lukes ears and he turned to face the young jedi apprentice.

"What's a dyad? and Why has the force built a connection between Rey and myself?"

Ben's face was full of sorrow as he couldn't quite understand the way of the force when it came to this sudden connection with Rey and what it meant for them to be Dyads. The book that he had been reading didn't give much away, or atleast the bits that he could translate didn't.

Luke smiled, placing a hand on his nephews shoulder

"It means that the force is stronger when you are together, if you worked as a team, you would be able to do amazing things"

He kept the fact that a pull in the force also meant that they were destined for one another to himself, he wouldn't scare the young couple away from their destiny just yet.

Ben nodded, slowly understanding that it was something out of his control and so he would need to face Rey and hopefully build a friendship, if she is willing.
