The Hammersley had finally got to the vast ocean again. Maxine hadn't exactly told Mike where to stay but Mike knew it would have to be a long way from the shore so in the middle of the ocean was perfect! Mike had given the rest of the bridge crew the afternoon off so they could tell their families what was going on before Bomber had finished with tea.
Nothing like this had ever happened to him before. Sure, he had had long voyages before but never this long! He wondered how the rest of the crew would cope if they had an emergency on board which he wouldn't happen but you never know.
"Thinking?" Kate's voice came from behind him.
"I was." Mike smiled.
Kate took her seat back and sat down next to him.
"How's the crew doing?" Mike asked.
"Bored."
"Not surprised."
"There must be something we can do whilst we're out here."
"I bet there is."
"So why don't we do something?"
"Because Navcom won't let us."
"That's not true."
"Don't tell the rest of the crew I said that."
"We have to stay on the ship at all times?"
"Seems so."
Kate moaned. Staying on the ship all day?! I mean it wasn't exactly like she wasn't used to it but it got boring after a while.
"I'll get Nav to run a few missions." Mike smiled.
"Even though they're going to be fake?"
"Yep."
"Sounds great."
Kate and Mike smiled. They had to keep it together. The crew got their moral off of their commanding officers. If they didn't set a very good example, the crew would act the same way and they couldn't have that on a ship like the Hammersley.
"Talking to yourselves?" Swaine asked, coming up the stairs.
"Yes we thought we would." Mike answered him.
"I thought you were supposed to be in sick bay." Kate said to Swaine as he took his seat.
"Someone took my spot." Swaine moaned.
"2dads?" Kate asked.
"How'd you guess?"
"He normally annoys everyone." Kate answered.
"He's not that bad." Mike pleaded.
"You don't have to deal with all the pranks he plays." Swaine says rubbing his forehead.
"True." Mike agreed.
"I just needed some time away from him." Swaine said.
"Everyone does sometimes." Kate said, trying to comfort Swaine.
Swaine just nodded. It was obvious to Mike and Kate that 2dads was getting on everyone's nerves. That was great news! Months on the Hammersley in front of them and everyone was already annoyed!
"I'll tell him to stop." Kate finally said.
"Good luck with that one." Swaine smirked.
"Well commander Flynn could always do something." Kate said, looking into Mikes eyes.
"Don't drag me into this." Mike laughed.
"It's your ship." Kate said, punching him in the arm.
Mike couldn't disagree with this. He didn't exactly get why Kate punched him in the arm but this meant that he should stop trying to get out of it.
"Yes X." Mike agreed.
"Thanks." Swaine sighed.
"No problem." Mike smiled.
Before the group could say anything else, who should pop up but 2dads! They all turned round to see him entering the bridge again. They were all thinking the same thing.
"Wow it's quiet up here." 2dads laughed.
"Well it was." Swaine said under his breath.
"What's up Swaine?"
"You." Swaine nearly shouted.
2dads looked at Mike and Kate for some confirmation on this. Mike and Kate just turned away from the conversation and tried to look like they were busy doing something else.
"What exactly have I done Swaine?" 2dads sighed heavily.
"You're annoying everyone."
"No I'm not." 2dads looking at Mike and Kate again.
Mike caught his eye.
"Is that the time?" Mike said getting out of his chair and looking at his watch.
"Something wrong sir?" 2dads asked.
"Nothing. Just got something to do that's all." Mike said leaving the bridge.
And with that Mike had left which left Kate to deal with the two warring officers. She just loved that!
"Can you two make up please?" Kate asked quietly.
"I didn't know we'd fallen out." 2dads said, looking at Swaine.
"Well it's not that easy." Swaine said not looking at 2dads.
"Well maybe I should leave you to it." Kate said doing the same thing Mike did.
"Don't." Swaine mouthed.
"Sorry." Kate mouthed back.
Kate left the bridge to see if anyone else needed her. 2dads sat next to Swaine trying to figure out what he had done.
"So you have a problem with me then?" 2dads asked Swaine.
"Not exactly." Swaine answered.
"Then what?"
"You're getting on my nerves."
"Well why didn't you say something?"
"I didn't want to tell you."
"Well tell me next time."
"Will do." Swaine finally gave in.
Swaine and 2dads just laughed it off.
"DINNER!" Bomber shouted.
Swaine and 2dads couldn't get out of the bridge fast enough! Everyone got excited about dinner, it was the best part of the day when they had been on the voyage for ages.

Bomber was serving out all the dinner, trying to ignore Spider after what had happened earlier with the food. Also she hoped Nav hadn't told Mike or Kate about it otherwise she would have been put on scully duties and no one wanted to be put on that!
"There all done." Bomber said when she had finished serving.
"Bomber?" Spider finally said.
"What?" Bomber responded.
"I'm sorry about earlier." Spider finally apologised.
"Apology accepted."
"Good."
Bomber got her dinner and sat down on the same table as Nav, Mike and Kate. Spider tried to join them and succeeded which usually didn't happen when Nav was around.
"So what do we have Bomber?" Mike asked looking down at his plate confused by what he was looking at.
"Chips and some vegetables." Bomber answered.
"Nothing else?" Nav asked her.
"Yeah that's it."
"Didn't we have anything else to put with it?" Nav asked again.
"We did." Bomber said, staring at Spider.
"What?" Spider asked.
"Something going on between you two?" Kate smiled.
"No!" Spider and Bomber said together.
Kate, Mike and Nav stifled laughter.
"This is all I could find." Bomber finally answered Navs question.
"Right. Well, I'm sure it'll be lovely." Kate said looking down at her plate.
"Tuck in then." Bomber shouted to the rest of the crew.
No one tucked in. They all sat there waiting for someone else to start before they did. Mike finally gave in and tried some of the food. He nodded and the rest of the crew dived in.
"It's very nice Bomber." Mike said with his mouthful.
"Thank you sir."
"She didn't do it all." Spider said.
"I'm sure she didn't." Mike smiled.
The Hammersley crew tucked into their dinner even though it wasn't very interesting. True it was nice to have something to take their minds off of the lockdown and how long they would have to stay at sea.
