Disclaimer: I don't own Rent-a-Girlfriend.

Greetings, oh mighty humans!

I am the pet lungfish of Kazuya Kinoshita!

What? You thought we fish were unintelligent, simpleton creatures who just swim around our tanks all day long without a care for the world outside our water? And who forget what we witness in just seven seconds?

You thought wrong! We fish are extremely intellectual beings!

I would have to be to be living with Kazuya! Otherwise there would be no brains in his apartment.

Don't get me wrong. Kazuya is a nice fellow. He has a big heart and is often putting his family and friends before himself.

But the truth of this young chap cannot be ignored.

The fact of the matter is, Kazuya is, to put it simply - a loser!

He always has been. Anyone can see that. His family all acknowledge they raised a loser - and they never hesitate to remind him, no matter how far down that kicks him.

Kazuya's luck has always been poor. And it's taken a turn for the worst since the two of us moved into his apartment at his college.

For the past several months, Kazuya's been suffering a severe case of girl trouble!

It all started when he brought a cute girl back to his apartment, excitedly bragging to me (since I was the only living creature around to hear) that she was his new girlfriend. I pretty much didn't care, yet I couldn't help noticing things that my simple-minded human could not. She seemed sweet and cheerful on the outside - but my fishy senses told me that on the inside, she was not who she presented herself to be.

Fast forward to a month later, Kazuya's new girlfriend abruptly broke up with him. I had never seen my human so hurt and humiliated. You don't know how much it got my gilly gander up to listen to him from my tank, moping in his apartment and whining he had no one. It was extremely irritating for me - not to mention a huge insult, since it wasn't true he had no one! He had me!

However, his wallowing in self-pity came to an end when he began bringing back another pretty girl to his apartment, claiming she was his new new girlfriend. It was the happiest I had seen him for a long time. He would often bring his family to meet her - and they simply adored her! Especially his grandmother!

Though I presented myself as uninterested in my human's new relationship, I did pick up some things about this lady he was bringing back to the apartment. She did not seem to be who she was presenting herself as either - but unlike the last girl, she did not try to hide it. Whenever Kazuya brought his friends and family around to see her, the two would present themselves as the perfect happy couple.

And yet as soon as they were alone in the apartment with only me around to hear, this girl would completely change her personality. She would switch from being affectionate to my human to yelling at him in an irritated manner. She would scream things about being unable to keep up lies and how a little charade of theirs going on would have to stop. I didn't know what they were talking about. Such sensitive matters did not involve me. All else I could notice is that Kazuya was often handing over her these strange paper notes which, for some reason, make you humans feel so happy to receive lots of.

As time went on, Kazuya and his new girlfriend would spend more and more time together. I could see clearly from my tank that he was always happy to be around her. I'm not sure what this pretty young lady saw in my human or why she would want to date a loser like him. But she was special. Kazuya could see that - and from inside my water, so could I!

That was why I was puzzled when my human suddenly started bringing other girls back to the apartment.

One time, Kazuya brought a short girl who was clinging onto his arm as they would enter our residence. She was delighted to be around him - and would get always attempt to get herself as close to him as possible. It did not make sense to me; my human was already in a relationship. Yet the way this particular girl acted towards him, she seemed to think it was her who was his girlfriend. Did she think she had a chance of winning his heart? Did she believe he was going to end up with her? I didn't know, but she seemed to assume so.

Another time, he brought back a girl who was as quiet as the other one was outspoken. Barely a word came out of her in the time she spent in this apartment. She was always trembling timidly, looking very shy to be around Kazuya. In fairness to my human, he treated her very kindly, assuring her that she didn't have to be nervous around him. He looked like he really wanted to take care of her, which was honestly very sweet of him - but did his actual girlfriend approve of that?!

I have no idea why Kazuya is hanging out with these other girls - for it is clear to me which one he is destined to be with for the rest of his life.

I've seen it from my tank whenever she's around. This pretty young lady makes out my human is nothing but a thorn in her side. And while there are hundreds who would agree that Kazuya is a real pain in the butt, she truly isn't what how she presents herself to him and only him.

She tries to make out that their relationship isn't how it appears to others. Always she is telling him that the two of them have to drop the act. It sounds as though she wants to pair of them to break up.

Yet I can tell that isn't what she wants at all.

Being the intelligent fish that no one knows I am, I can tell that deep down in her heart, the girl really has fallen for my human. She's trying to keep her feelings for him buried and is pretending they don't exist.

My fishy eyes see all. This young lady may be able to lie to others and even lie to herself - but she cannot lie to me. I can tell she feels for Kazuya the same way he feels for her. It's as crystal clear as the water I watch them from within.

My human and this girl both love each other.

C'mon, Kazuya, dude! Get married to her already so you can quit daydreaming about her all the time. With her around you permanently, you can focus on your next goal in life - which is to buy a female fish for me so I can get a girlfriend too!

The end.
