"…what do you think you're doing, father?"

Prince Asgore was quietly sitting alongside Toriel, looking over in the direction of King Maecoal. His eyes were blazing with a smoldering fire, the two of them lock-jawed, almost utterly unblinking as they remained in King Maecoal's tent. The monsters had been running rampshod over Ireland for a solid week now, and without any kind of organized resistance or mages around to stop them, they were simply beating the living snot out of any human city they found, razing them to the ground, and putting many of their citizens to the sword or the torch if they offered up even the tiniest resistance.

Asgore and Toriel had, of course, violently objected to all of this, as had Sir Grillby, and they were, thus, currently stuck in the tent, with magical bonds tying them together. But even that wasn't as bad as what had happened with Gerald.

The magic-enhancing, rather-ugly-bodied monster was viewed very poorly indeed for throwing in his lot with the humans. And they'd thus demand he help them with their efforts against the human settlements. Dublin was long gone, but Waterford, Cork and Limerick had been attacked as well, and they'd furiously insisted that Gerald help them to increase and empower their magical skills. Gerald had just flat out refused.

That hadn't worked out well.

SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! Loud, wet strikes rang through the air as Melusine stood in front of him, glowering down at him, hitting him with her armored, gloved hand again and again. She wouldn't even punch him, she was striking him with the top of her gauntlet again and again, as if he was an "uppity" wife and she was a furiously misogynistic husband. She glowered at the alien-looking monster, who gazed back at her with unflinching eyes, seeing past her helm she wore.

"You're GOING to help us here at Kilkenny, or this time we start taking your limbs off." She demanded angrily. "We're going to send a message to these humans to get off the island. Ireland will be for monsters at last. You need to side with your kind now. No more running to the humans."

Despite the fact that she was saying this though…her tone came off as bitter. She'd been away from her daughter Undyne and her husband for months now, and she was very much concerned that something had happened with him and her child back at home.

"Why are you going along with this? What do you think your husband would think?" Gerald inquired. "Or your daughter? Imagine telling her "Oh, sorry dear, daddy's going to have to be killed because only monsters can live in Ireland now."

Melusine shook Gerald back and forth, her eyes blazing now, her tone no longer bitter, but now desperate, her voice faintly scratchy, the blood oozing from Gerald's many wounds, pus festering in some of the clawed and sliced-open chunks left on his back and cheeks. "I don't have a choice, Gerald!" She hissed at him. "If I don't finish this campaign, I can't go back home!" She snapped. "I don't intend to stay here in Ireland anyway, I'm leaving for the Mediterranean with him and Undyne as soon as I can! But I have my orders, and the sooner I complete them, the better! Just do what we ask!"

"I'm not…saying….anything. I'm not DOING anything for you." Gerald muttered as he glanced to the side, away from her.

"You're hiding something." She realized. "What are you hiding?!" She inquired, shaking him about.

What indeed. Sakamoto had gone off to track down the others, but had had Gaster secretly following the monsters when they'd split up, and Gaster was lying in wait for his chance. He'd been whipping up a special solution to try and poison the monster's food, to drug them so he could sneak in and free Asgore and Toriel and Grillby and other prisoners, but it was difficult…he'd be instantly recognized for what he was, and despite the fact that his mother Arial was there along with Garamond and Courier, and though he was sure they'd try and vouch for him, to speak up for mercy on his behalf, he knew King Maecoal would probably beat the living tar out of him for being a "human f—ker".

Gerald, however, had seen him. Gerald knew what he was up to and he'd been helping Gaster in secret. Gaster would swing by his cage he was kept in and Gerald would tell him about when the sentries went on break, what they'd be serving for food on certain days, and at last, Gaster was ready to put his plan into action. But Gerald wouldn't say a word about what the skeleton monster had planned. No matter how much he was in agony.

"I'm not saying anything." Gerald told Melusine coldly.

"…I didn't want to do this." Melusine murmured as she whistled sharply, and Selkie and Jocasta made their way over. Jocasta and Selkie and Melusine spoke among each other, Selkie quietly nodding as she got out a scroll from a bag she had slung around her shoulder, Jocasta taking out some cold iron spikes, knocking them into the ground around Gerald with her cloven feet, gazing quietly at him. "…this is a very cruel spell."

"Yes, but its effective. Now…" Selkie clapped her hands, the Icelandic merperson looking at Jocasta. "Are they in?"

"They're in, the spell's all ready."

Selkie held her hand up, and it faintly glowed, the spikes surrounding Gerald glistening and glowing as well as, a few moments later, a strange, odd light bathed over Gerald…and then he collapsed, flopping onto the ground.

"This particular spell is emitting a unique magical field. It'd designed specifically to target magic users who's skills are status enhancements." Jocasta murmured. "We're all very…very tired, Gerald. We want this campaign over with. Just tell us what we want to know."

"I don't know anything and I won't…help…" Gerald couldn't finish his sentence, it felt as though his eyeballs and his insides wanted to explode out of his body. He doubled over, screaming, hollering, Gaster watching from afar, hidden behind bushes, looking disgusted and mortified.

"You know something and you're not telling us…I can read you like an open book, tell us what we want to know, or agree to help us against the humans. You've got to stop throwing in your lot with them. This is your last chance." Melusine insisted.

"The more you struggle, the worse it'll be. You're a fish on a hook, and thrashing about won't free you." Selkie remarked coldly. "So you can either relax and comply, or remain on that hook."

"There's…nothing I have to…tell you that…you don't already…know…" Gerald managed to get out, practically going into pain spasms on the ground. He smacked his fists onto the ground, panting heavily, blood and sweat and pus dribbling down. "I…refuse to help…at the point of…pain…"

"You must have a VERY juicy secret indeed if you're keeping quiet this long…I always thought your species were weaklings." Selkie admitted, Jocasta biting her lip, Melusine grateful that they couldn't see her full face, because she wanted to puke. "You're clearly made of sterner stuff. But everyone has their limits. Even people like you. The question is…what will it take before you break?"

"…I…I want…I want to go…home…" Gerald managed to get out, Selkie's eyes glittering, Jocasta and Melusine looking surprised.

"Oh, we can think about letting you return to your family back in-"

"NO! No, not THERE!" Gerald screamed out, gripping his head, writhing on the ground, his voice high and screechy. "Not there! With my PEOPLE! With…MONSTERS!"

"Wh…what?" Selkie stared in confusion. Jocasta gaped. Melusine quietly looked at him, blinking slowly. "What do you mean? You turned your back on them to side with the humans and to teach them how to better use magic, everyone knows that about you and your family-"

"I KNOOOOW!" Gerald screeched. "I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW! But monsters are still my people! I tried to deny it! I tried to forget it! I HATE how you treat me! At least the humans respect my abilities, and I thought that was enough! That young mage loves me, he treats me as a mentor and a friend and his better, Leopold's always been a wonderful young man, but even with all of that, even though your kind spit on me and scowl at me and kick dust on me in the street you're still my kind and I want to be with you every f—king day, and it hurts that I can't and I hate myself for that, and for my weakness! My weakness of wanting to be with people who despise me, and my weakness for BEING with people who barely stand me! I can't help it! I want to be with monsters! I want to be with my PEOPLE!"

"I KNEW there was something you were hiding from me." Melusine murmured. "…I just had no idea it was something like this…" The merwoman warrior muttered as she shook her head sadly.

"Well now you know!" Gerald sobbed out, covering his eyes, unable to stop the tears streaming down his cheeks. "Now you know! I hope it's goddamn useful!"

Jocasta couldn't take it any more. She tugged the nearest iron spike out, ignoring the pain shooting through her as she ripped it up and launched it away. Gerald's pain finally ceased, Selkie giving her a dirty look as Jocasta got out a small healing potion, forcing it into Gerald's mouth as Selkie shook her head and walked off, Melusine walking off as well, shaking her head some more as Jocasta finished giving Gerald the drink. He moaned and cringed, the pain slowly fading, his wounds slightly healing as Jocasta rose up, and shambled off, leaving his tied-up frame behind.

Gaster dug his skeletal fingers into the bush's tree limbs, his eyes glistening darkly. He felt an urge to make them suffer for what he'd just seen, but he had to restrain himself if he wanted to free Gerald and the other prisoners. So he waited, waiting for night to fall and for him to put his plan into action, but then…then he heard Jocasta speak to Melusine.

"…when…when should we tell him ABOUT his family? His grandson and daughter are the only one who're left after that uprising in the town." Jocasta confessed quietly.

"…I…I don't know." Melsuine cringed. "I didn't think they'd stone so many people for…" She trailed off. "…I'm beginning to think my own husband might be dead. I haven't talked to him in so long and I've not gotten any word…"

"I thought monsters were supposed to be better than humans." Jocasta muttered as she put a hand on Melusine's shoulder. "…but the longer this war goes on, the more I realize how wrong that is. And I hate that I'm not strong enough to tell that to the king's face.'

"…do you think maybe if…" Melusine now had a dark look on her face. "…if the prince, if…if Asgore was in charge…"

"Yes. I think it'd be better." Jocasta murmured as Gaster's own eyes widened.

"…let's…talk more privately." Melsuine suggested as she and Jocasta headed off, Gaster looking from them to Gerald.

Oh…Gerald…

Meanwhile, Sakamoto was following after Mr. Bloke, who was currently hovering nonchalantly through the dark recesses of the cavern, heading down towards the dragon city. "Mr. Bloke, I hear guards coming!" Sakamoto whispered nervously.

Mr. Bloke grinned. "Slip to the side…and watch." He told the young dragon, who nervously raced off to the side to crouch behind a stalagmite, Mr. Bloke, in turn, hovering high in the air, clinging to the ceiling and waiting. Sure enough, two dragon guards who were in their more humanoid forms so as to avoid bumping their heads on the ceiling were walking down the hall.

"You don't know what you're missing, really."

"I'm not interested in sex with a human."

"Oh c'mon, it's a great learning experience, really! It opens your eyes." The first guard remarked. "I mean, you have to be much more careful you don't break them or the bed you're on but if you get it right, it feels REAL nice and tight."

"Would you have sex with a bull?" The second guard grumbled. "Or a goat?"

"You didn't have a problem with that mer-person when we visited King Maecoal's camp a few days back to let him know how things were going with the mages!" The first guard protested angrily, neither of them aware that Mr. Bloke was slowly hovering on down towards them, and sneaking up on them.

"That's different, they're an actual monster, humans…ICK." The dragon guard grunted as the first guard "harrumphed"…just before Mr. Bloke seemed to pass right on INTO him, sinking into him as if the dragon was inhaling a kind of smoke into his very body! He stiffened a bit, his eyes faintly flashing a strange color before he spoke up in the same voice and tone as he'd been using before.

"Suit yourself." He remarked…raising his fist up.

THAKKA-THWAAAMH! He struck the second guard hard on the back of the head, knocking him out. He flopped onto the ground of the cavern, as the possessed dragon turned to give Sakamoto, who'd emerged from behind the stalagmite, a distinctly large grin.

"As you can see…" He twirled around as Sakamoto gaped in amazement. "I can completely control the actions of people I posses. It's really a fascinating process. I have access to all their memories, their thoughts, their feelings, and they haven't a clue. It's like…say…putting them into a deep slumber. Once I leave him, he'll be vaguely aware of where he is but he'll have no clue what's been happening." Mr. Bloke told the young dragon. "Let's get moving, my dear boy. We've got to help our friends and there's little time to waste."

"Right, right." Sakamoto remarked as he sauntered after Mr. Bloke. "So…this is a result of you being a ghost monster? Could you possess anyone?"

"With ease. If someone has an incredibly strong will, it becomes much harder but…it is manageable." Mr. Bloke admitted. "Now…according to this guard, the mages are being kept at the "Sapphire Well". If we destroy that well, we'll be able to put an end to the dragon's greatest source of power, and then I can go handle that irritating blue dragon with the freezing magic."

"I just hope they're alright." Sakamoto murmured nervously.

Indeed, how were the mages all doing? Tobias, Cu Chulainn, Hadiya, Erimentha, Leopold, Seiichi and Elisud were all working at the Sapphire Well, currently being inspected today by Akshauhini. The green dragon was, at the moment, looking over pictures of himself that Eri had drawn for him, nodding a bit before he picked up his own papyrus, and began trying to draw her. Eri cringed. He'd been trying to draw her but…he just wasn't nearly as good as she was. It might have been cute if it wasn't so sad how bad he was at this.

"No, no, no…" He grunted, tossing his attempt at getting Eri away in a crumbled pile to the corner to join several others. "…DAMN it. I just don't have the know-how for the eyes, it's the damn eyes that keep tripping me up." He muttered. "It's too…exaggerated when I draw it. Damn it."

Cu Chulainn grunted. "Well, nobody's good at everything. For example…I'm not known for my patience." He muttered as Akshauhini chuckled.

"And here everyone I knew said you had no sense of humor." He laughed. "Oh, how wrong they were! You're hilarious when you want to be. Such a lovely, dry wit!" He remarked just as a guard knocked on the door outside to the Sapphire Well and he approached it. "Oh, it's you." Akshauhini grunted as he let the guard in, sighing as he walked back on over to where he'd been before. "I trust the sweep of the caverns went alright?"

"Oh, not a problem at all, sir. In fact, we found someone who'd like to speak to you." The guard said, gesturing over to the doorway just as Sakamoto walked in, Seiichi's eyes going wide.

"Sakamoto!" He cried out as Akshauhini gaped in surprise, turning on the guard.

"Why the heck is he not tied up or restrained or…look, I KNOW he's Phalanx's son and all but you shouldn't be going too easy on-"

THA-THWAM! A good, strong, hard punch knocked him flying into the wall, and he collapsed in the heap of thrown-away drawings he'd made as the guard grinned…and then flopped to the ground, moaning as Sakamoto knocked HIM out, and Mr. Bloke rose up from the guard's unconscious frame, Tobias beaming happily.

"I KNEW you'd come for us!" He said with a big grin as Mr. Bloke nodded happily back at the young man.

"I'd hug you, my liege but…well, frankly, you'd pass right through me. Now if you'll all kindly exit through the door…I'll bring this entire place down. Once that happens, you'd all best start running as far away from where I am, because no doubt those dragons will be on me in an instant." Mr. Bloke said as Sakamoto hugged Seiichi, and then…their lips met.

"…is this the moment?" Elisud quietly asked as Sakamoto and Seiichi continued their deep lip lock, breathing in each other's breaths. For Seiichi, it was as if, after months of being ice cold, he was warm again. For Sakamoto, a beautiful, tingling buzz was spreading through his body as his lips held to Seiichi's. Neither one wanted to break the kiss but, at last, feeling Leopold and Cu Chulainn shaking their shoulders, they split apart.

"Sorry. Sorry." Seiichi apologized. "Just…been a very awful, long nightmare and this is the first breath of fresh air we've gotten, you know?"

"You can kiss all you want LATER." Cu Chulainn snapped. "I want to take off some dragon heads and free some prisoners while we're at it. Its time for their little city to come crumbling down!" He proclaimed as they barreled out the door, Akshauhini groaning as he rose up, seeing Mr. Bloke holding his hands up as magical energy began to coalesce around him…blue magical energy that was wrapping around all the pulleys and the ropes and switches and levers in the Sapphire Well.

"Oh no." The green dragon gasped.

"Oh YES!" Mr. Bloke proclaimed. "I don't much care for how you treated my liege. Taste defeat!" He roared out as he swung his hands down.

The entire Sapphire Well shuddered and quaked and then ripped apart from the inside, chunks flying everywhere, the magic of the well grinding to an ignominious halt as Akshauhini raced out the door as fast as he could to get away, pieces of the well falling all around him. A furious, loud, angry roar rang out as a familiar blue dragon soared at the Sapphire Well, snarling darkly, the ruins of the dragon's great machine lying all about as Mr. Bloke smirked up at Terico as the serpentine dragon snarled.

"Have you ANY idea what you've done?!" He demanded.

"Your enslavement of these poor humans is ending. I suggest you and your kin take a tactical retreat." Mr. Bloke said as a distinctly loud, furious roaring began to ring through the air. The waterway system of the city was destroyed, the flood gates were breaking open, the city was beginning to be flooded and the lights were flickering on and off as Terico's eyes blazed.

"I'm going to dissolve you!" Terico snarled as he focused on Mr. Bloke…and then blinked stupidly. "I…I can't freeze you!"

"I'm a ghost." Mr. Bloke said to him. "I have no blood to freeze. No BODY to freeze. You're rather in a pickle." He remarked as he swept his arms about, and launched wreckage from the Sapphire Well at Terico, who barely dodged and spun away whilst the green dragon Akshauhini took off on his wings, soaring off for the front entrance to the cave.

Meanwhile, the dragons were currently in a huge fight with the humans as the lights in the cavern were failing and the flood waters were rising higher. Barrages of magic were sailing through the air, people being cooked, their skin boiling, the flesh torn from their bones…but then…then out HE came. Cu Chulainn was roaring with long-overdue fury, his body emblazoned with orange light, his eyes a glitter like red gemstones as his hands grabbed hold of a dragon's tail.

Before the dragon could even cry out, he was swept into his compatriots, and the humans who'd been under assault at one of the many domed buildings nearest to the arena were cheering and hollering. Cu Chulainn was using the dragon like a gigantic hammer, he was squashing any dragon in his path as he snarled and hissed and roared. "Follow me! Follow me to freedom!" he roared. "We're leaving here and they aren't stopping us, and any who'd try? THEIR BLOOD SHALL BE MY WAR PAINT!"

A cry of furious, righteous anger and joy filled the air as humans were swarming into the streets to follow him, whilst Elisud was right behind, hands held up, focusing intensely, creating a big, large green dome of protection with his magic. He was determined to keep them safe, because various dragons were swooping about in midair, firing magic and fire down on the crowds of humans to try and kill them.

The magic spell on them broken, the mages were hard at work. Leopold swept his hand forward as an entire building and the draconic inhabitants within who'd been tossing magic spells at him and the humans behind him went flying through the air, his eyes cold and dark, his white hair flowing as he raced along the street. Erimentha, meanwhile, was scribbling furiously upon the ground with dragon blood, now forming large horses that she and Hadiya mounted as they pointed at the exit. "Come! This way, this way!" They cried out, barreling towards the exit.

Sakamoto, Seiichi and Tobias, however, had instead made…for the nests where the baby dragons laid. It was a good thing too, because Phalanx was there with Akshauhini, Majalun, Schiltron and Shenjiying. They glowered furiously at Seiichi and Tobias, Phalanx's face softening as he saw Sakamoto.

"…son…" He began to say.

"Your treatment of the humans is disgusting." Sakamoto snarled. "It's over, father. You chose the wrong side."

"Each of you will die a slow and painful death for what you've done!" Schiltron snarled. "We are your gods. You have angered your gods, and now eternal damnation awaits you!" She leapt at them, mouth agape…but then her jaw slammed shut not of her own accord as Phalanx pinned her down to the ground.

"Don't you dare even TRY that on my son!" He roared.

"Do you want your children out of this cave or not? Because the flood waters are rising…" Tobias demanded as the dragons glared over at him, save for Akshauhini, who'd already lifted up one of the clay nests, and now another, then another. Tobias realized…he'd never seen the dragon in his more "large and natural" form but now…

Now he saw why. Akshauhini was now in his full resplendence and it WAS impressive. Emerald scales, slender and svelte even in his bigger form but with a beautiful halo-esque series of horns atop his head. It was as a grassy plain itself had been formed into a dragon with the many shades of green upon his frame, and over that was a set of natural "bone" style armor upon his chest and stomach, arms and legs.

"We have a duty to the little ones." He said. "We NEED to get them out. Now."

"…he's right." Majalun sighed as Shenjiying grunted a bit, and they began picking up clay nests, Sakamoto and Seiichi and Tobias joining them before Tobias realized…

"Wait. Where's Mr. Bloke?" He asked aloud, but before they could turn back to look in the direction of the Sapphire Well and see if he was coming back…a different, horrible noise rang out and they turned their heads. It hadn't occurred to them until now…

The arena. Nobody had been paying attention to the arena, and the…things…there were now free. People and dragons alike were now barreling for the exit, gasping in horror as things best left under a rock where no eye could gaze upon it were now sweeping through the drowned roads, getting closer and closer. They were faster than most humans and dragons, for many were faintly amphibian, experienced in the water, and screams were being cut off as tentacled THINGS dragged unfortunates down into the rising tide!

"GO!" Phalanx yelled out as he rose up and swelled his chest, barreling towards the nearest abominations that were closing in on Cu Chulainn and Elisud's group just as Erimentha and Hadiya were climbing the steps to the front entrance, Leopold hovering himself through midair with his blue magic. "Go, go, go! I'll hold them back!"

Sakamoto looked horrified for a moment, but then he nodded, and they tore out through the main cavern with the clay nests in tow. Phalanx's furious roaring filled the air along with belches of flame and sharp crackles of magic as Cu Chulainn chuckled darkly, looking behind him. Phalanx was trying to claw and tear many of the things in front of him to shreds, his magic searing at their flesh, but he was becoming horribly overwhelmed, and it wasn't long before some tentacles shot forth from the increasing depths that were now up to his waist.

They ensnared his head as he screamed, feeling his eyeball being wrenched out. He swept his hands as magical energy barreled down at the horde, Elisud looking horrified, the last one out, hesitant, wanting to go down and help as he heard the sound of the white dragon being messily torn apart, alive, piecemeal, the water in the city now looking more RED than blue…

"God…God damn it." He whispered as he turned away, and raced after everyone else. He was too far away, he couldn't help. No matter how much he wanted to. And he had friends who needed his help…

Meanwhile, back at King Maecoal's camp, Gaster's plan had worked. Under the cover of night he'd slipped the necessary ingredients into their food and now everyone was conked out and unconscious…albeit for only a short time. Now Gaster was using his blue magic to tear open the prisoner's cages. Thank the Lord that King Maecoal, in his cruelty, thought not feeding the prisoners to "toughen them up a bit" and make their "tongues more loose" was a good idea!

"Go, go, go!" He insisted, waving them along as the humans all nodded at him or smiled or nervously gulped every once in a while before taking off into the night, Gaster reaching the final cage and ripping it to shreds as he began helping Gerald out, Gerald coughing madly, some kind of fluid drizzling out from his mouth as Gaster frowned.

Something was wrong with Gerald. He must have internal injuries that were far, far worse than what he'd been showing before or…perhaps he was sick with some disease. He had, after all, been alone. The other prisoners could at least huddle together for warmth in their cages. He didn't have that at all, nor any clothing or blankets to try and use to warm his body. He was so…cold.

"I don't look good, do I?" He quietly asked as Gaster and he trudged along, heading to King Maecoal's tent, Gaster pushing it open. Well, Asgore and Toriel and Grillby were unconscious but so was the king, all of them flopped over, their bowls of soup spilled on the floor. "…you need help moving them, no doubt. H-Here." Gerald concentrated, coughing and spluttering as he focused, Gaster aiming at Asgore, Toriel and Grillby. Their magical bonds were broken and he began to hover them out of the tent, following after the humans who'd escaped, making off for the nearest city. It would be a long trek, but Gaster would do what he could.

"You're hurt. How did this happen?" Gaster asked. "Did they torture you too much?"

"I believe my dear boy my body's simply breaking down." Gerald chuckled sadly. "I'm sick as a dog from being exposed to the elements for so long and I am no longer in my prime. You're…you're very kind to inquire about me."

"I know you don't like my love for Leopold but that doesn't mean I dislike you." Gaster insisted as Gerald looked right into his eyes.

"I've tried. I really have tried to think of how you two together isn't a big deal but…my mind keeps splitting itself in two when it tries. I just want you to know, even now, I'm still trying to…to stamp down on that knee-jerk reaction I feel." Gerald confessed before he began coughing madly again, more fluid oozing out of his mouth as Gaster kept hovering the unconscious three monsters behind him along. "Because Leopold's a good, wonderful young man, and you are too, and I should just let love be love. Love is one of the greatest things God's ever given us." He whispered. "The most wonderful, influential thing in the world. It'll be here long after I'm gone. Long after you're gone. Long after we are ALL gone. Love will endure. But I can't help how I feel, and I hate that. I hate myself in so many ways. Can you imagine that?" Gerald quietly asked as Gaster, solemnly, nodded.

"I can." He admitted. "I really can." He told the strange-bodied alien as Gerald hacked and spluttered. "Try and…and take it easy, I can…ERGH…I can manage them for an hour without your help." He muttered as he shook his skeletal head back and forth.

"Gaster, you're…going to have to face your own family, won't you?" Gerald asked. "…what will you do if King Maecoal makes them fight?"

"I'll…cross that bridge when I come to it." Gaster decided as the moon softly twinkled overhead, the stars beginning to poke out of the dark quilt of night above. "…IF I come to it."

"You will." Gerald murmured. "…you will."
