Hi guys. So we're nearing the end of the story. Probably three chapters left. I hope you guys have liked this story.
Kate stood up straight. Even though she had been in this situation a few times, she would have never expected it from someone like Jim. the rest of the crew were holding themselves back from trying to help but with Jim in control they couldn't really do anything without being injured themselves! Spider was the most scared with Buffer trying to keep him calm.
"So this is what you want is it?" Kate finally broke the silence.
"Well part of it anyway." Jim smiled creepily.
"Why us? Why the Hammersley?"
"Don't you get it?! It's not just about you!" Jim scratched his head with the gun.
Kate nearly jumped when he did this. Whatever Jim wanted he was going to do anything he wanted to get it and the crew couldn't do anything to stop him.

Maxine was getting more and more worried. She hadn't heard anything from Kate and it had nearly been an hour. She watched the phone just waiting for it to ring with Kate or Mike on the other side. Marshall could see how much worry she was in.
"They should have said something by now." Maxine told herself.
"I know. They might just be getting everything done, you know with Jim." Marshall tried to think of something to say.
"What if their in more trouble? Couldn't we send someone out there?" Maxine pleaded.
"There might be something." Marshall suddenly thought of coming into the office and picking up the phone.
"What? What is it?"
Marshall didn't say anything and just punched a number into the phone with the receiver in his hand. Maxine hated not knowing anything but let Marshall do this as it might just save the Hammersley. Marshall waved Maxine out of the office as he took the call. Maxine hated waiting outside when something was being discussed but did what she was told anyway.
"Something wrong ma'am?" One of the workers outside asked her.
"No nothing's wrong. Just a few teething problems." Maxine smiled it off trying not to let anything slip past her lips.
She watched Marshall's lips move as the conversation continued. She bit her fingers until they were red raw. The rest of the officers in the HQ didn't speak to her sensing her nervous energy. Then Marshall ended the call and welcomed her back in.
"Well, what did they say?" Maxine asked hopefully.
"They're on their way. Can't say anymore I'm afraid until they're here." Marshall nodded.
"Okay but it will work?"
"I'm pretty sure it will."
Maxine nodded. Even 'pretty sure' would do for her right now. She still had no idea what Marshall was up to but knew it was something she could be hopeful in.

Bomber and Swaine looked at each other. It can't be! Bomber was the first to turn with Swaine not so far behind. Lying there, Mike was awake and staring at them with the usual glimmer in his eyes.
"Sir!" Bomber breathed a sigh of relief.
Swaine got to work making sure Mike was okay and let Bomber talk to the CO. Bomber watched Swaine with a sense of urgency but also kept her attention on her CO as well.
"You're awake then." Bomber chuckled.
"Just about. Thank you." Mike said weakly.
"How do you know?"
"I heard the whole conversation." Mike said looking at Swaine also.
Swaine just tutted and shook his head. Bomber smiled and carried on the conversation.
"Why aren't we moving?" Mike soon noticed.
"I don't know. The X must have decided to stop for a bit." Bomber shrugged.
"Kate wouldn't do that." Mike shook his head, even though this did give him some pain.
"Stop moving!" Swaine gave an order.
"Sorry!" Mike rolled his eyes.
"Leave him alone, Swaine!" Bomber stuck up for Mike.
Swaine widened his eyes at this from Bomber but did what she said. Mike chewed over that the Hammersley wasn't moving around. Bomber could tell her CO was worried.
"We'll be moving again soon." Bomber tried to reassure him.
"I wouldn't be so sure." Swaine muttered.
Just as Swaine finished his sentence, the phone in the sick bay began to ring. Mike and Bomber raised an eyebrow at this wondering who on earth this could be!
"Swaine here." Swaine answered the phone.
"Swaine, it's Commander White here." Maxine's voice came down the phone.
"Who is it?" Mike asked sitting up.
"It's Commander White." Swaine said.
Mike gestured for Swaine to give him the phone. Swaine went to say something against it but got a glare from Mike instead so handed the phone over.
"Maxine?" Mike sighed.
"Mike finally." Maxine chuckled from the other side.
"Yeah took a while didn't it. Anyway what's wrong?" Mike asked sensing some tenseness in Maxine's voice.
"The Hammersley seems to have been taken over." Maxine tried to calm herself and also try to keep Mike calm at the same time.
"What?!" Mike exclaimed.
Swaine and Bomber looked astonished when Mike said this. They gathered around the phone to find out more. Mike rubbed his forehead with his hand trying to wrap his head around what he was being told.
"It seems as though a marine has taken over the bridge." Maxine continued.
"Jim? No, that can't be right." Mike shook his head.
"It seems as though it is and I think the bridge is in danger."
"Have they said anything?"
"No we can't get through to them but help is on the way."
"Thank goodness for that. What can we do?"
"Just stay where you are for now and the team will come and get you when it is safe."
"But Ma'am…"
"That's an order Mike." Maxine said in a stern tone.
"Alright. Just make sure they get here." Mike gave in.
"They will." Maxine ended the call.
Mike gave the phone back to Swaine and sighed loudly. Bomber looked at Swaine for some sort of comfort.
"What did she say?" Swaine asked.
"The bridge has been taken over." Mike answered looking at his two other shipmates.
"That can't be right!" Bomber exclaimed nearly as loud as Mike did.
"It seems so. We have to wait here until we're rescued." Mike shrugged.
"We can't just wait here!" Bomber urged.
"It's the safest place to be. Maybe we should stay." Swaine admitted.
"But what about the other ships? Are they alright?" Bomber asked.
"They don't know. They think so." Mike nodded.
It took a while for this all to sink in for Bomber. She couldn't believe this had happened! She looked at Mike. Mike looked down at the ground as she did this. Now all they had to do was wait and hope they're rescued soon.
