Hi guys so this is the FINAL chapter. I hope you have enjoyed reading and reviewing. Hopefully I will be doing another Sea patrol story soon. Thanks for reading once again. X
"Me?" Archer sounded surprised.
"Yes. You are the nearest I can get to Mike without having him there. I think you will do very well." Maxine smiled.
"I haven't said yes yet!" Archer chuckled.
"I think you should."
"Alright. What's going to happen to my ship whilst I'm out?"
"They'll come back to land. They'll be in quarantine for a bit but they'll get back to home soon."
"Why can't Hammersley do that?"
"They've been out before the lockdown was placed. They'll need to be out there for a while yet. I think you'll be able to help them."
"I'll try Maxine. I'll transfer my things across later."
"Good luck Archer." Maxine ended the call.

Archer put the phone down. Interesting. Hammersley was definitely going to be a challenge but he was sure he could do it. Then the phone rang again. He exclaimed under his breath but soon picked it up.
"Archer." He responded.
"It's Mike." Mike's voice rang.
"Oh I thought it was going to be you. You've got some explaining to do!"
"What about?"
"You didn't tell me you had a brain tumor."
"Oh that. Okay, I'm sorry it's just everything has got in the way." Mike tried to speak for himself.
"It's alright. I just wish you had told me that's all." Archer calmed.
"I know. I heard something about you though as well."
Archer's eyes widened. What could Mike have found out now?!
"You're going to be the new CO of the Hammersley?" Mike asked.
"Maxine did ask. Kind of forced to take it."
"Hey! Don't talk about Hammersley like that!"
"Joking." Archer chuckled.
"I think you'll get along just fine." Mike told Archer.
"Thanks Mike. Do we know why Jim did the things he did yet?" Archer asked.
"Apparently with the country in lockdown it was easy to take over. He thought along with some other marines that martial law would be the best bet. If he took out the strongest navy ships then he would have control over the navy. A very strong opinion." Mike smirked.
"Oh. That's a new one." Archer sounded surprised.
"Good luck Archer. Look after them." Mike told his friend.
"Don't you trust me." Archer asked.
"Of course I do but just good luck." Mike told him again.
"Thanks Mike. Good luck to you too." Archer put the phone down.
Archer looked around his quarters. He hadn't got much but it was going to be hard moving from here to Hammersley. A knock then came at the door of his quarters.
"Yes."
"The bridge wants to see you sir. They've just heard the news." The officer said.
"Alright." Archer got up from his seat.
Archer made his way to the bridge for the final time before leaving.

"So Captain Archer is going to take over?" Bomber asked.
Kate had made her way back to the bridge after having a call from Maxine. It had been two hours since Mike left but it felt like it had only been a few minutes!
"Yes and we're to welcome him with open arms." Kate told the bridge crew.
"How long for?" Spider asked.
"For a while by the sounds of it." Kate finally told the crew. She thought Mike might have told them before he went but obviously not.
"Right. What's captain Archer like X?" Charge asked.
"He's nice enough. I'm sure we'll get along."
"Thanks for the confidence X." Archer said behind everyone.
Everyone stood to attention when he said this. Out of being either scared or being upset that Mike was gone. He greeted them all from a distance and then sat down.
"I know this is going to be different for all of you but myself and Mike have agreed that we will talk to each other each week so you can all stay in touch." Archer told them all.
"I think that's a good idea sir." Kate backed him.
"Thank you X. Now Commander White said we were free for a few weeks until something pops up so who's for scuba diving?" Archer looked around.
The whole crew looked at each other suddenly. They then all burst into laughter and got back to work. Yes they were going to be free, but they still needed to get there. Kate sat next to Archer as they pulled away.
"I think this is going to be fun X. don't you?" Archer whispered.
"Yes sir. I think it will be." Kate smiled.
They then turned their attention back to the water and the vast ocean in front of them. The Hammersley might be under new management but it still shared the same duty. To keep everyone safe from harm.

Maxine was finishing packing up for the day. She could finally go home after a lot of phone calls all day long. Marshall and Mike stood at the door of her office waiting for her. They had all agreed to go to the pub. Even if Mike was still on duty!
"Come on Maxine we'll be late!" Marshall shouted.
"Coming!" Maxine shouted back.
Maxine sighed and rolled her eyes. Mike and Marshall couldn't wait two minutes! She tutted once again as that thought came to her mind. She finally packed up and then went to join the two men apparently that have been waiting years!
"Alright. Ready!" Maxine breathed out.
The other two just chuckled as they all went to the pub. Mike missed the Hammersley but it was nice to not have to worry too much.
"I wonder how Archer is getting on." Marshall brought it up.
"I was wondering that myself." Mike said quietly.
"I checked in on him earlier. He seems to be fitting in just fine." Maxine spoke up for the captain.
"The Hammersley crew won't be too hard on him. Will they Mike?" Marshall asked.
"No they won't. He'll be fine. Apart from if they go scuba diving." Mike joked.
The other two didn't really get the joke but laughed along anyway. They then all walked together to the pub where they could forget everything that had happened. Where they could rest knowing Hammersley was in safe hands for now.
