Hero Remembered

This is a time for both celebration and sorrow for all Pokemon around the world. As was discussed in an earlier article, the Time Gear crisis is officially over and the world saved from a bleak and horrific future, but it has only been recently discovered the cost of such victory. An anonymous source informs us that it is the nature of the Time Gears themselves, the mystical objects that this crisis revolved around, that caused the delay of this knowledge.

As reported in the earlier article, our world was threatened when the five Time Gears were threatened. Time itself was thrown out of balance, causing mass destabilization and shifting of the continents that led to the mass outbreak of mystery dungeons the more sensitive Pokémon being driven wild, and, in some places, time itself stopped.

"All the colour just drained out of everything," said our source whose home was in one such effected area. "Everything was gray, motionless, like everything was frozen but without the ice."

And the reason for this terror and uncertainty? The thief Grovyle. He sparked the worst turmoil in living memory when he set out to steal the Time Gears, wreaking devastation where ever he went. His motives are still unknown, but one anonymous source tells us that this was a product of a deeply troubled mind. Any attempts at uncovering Grovyle's past has led nowhere. It is possible that anyone who knew Grovyle before the crisis is too ashamed to admit to having known this villain.

Just when it seemed that this thief when succeed in his dastardly quest, one explorer stepped up and vowed to stop Grovyle. This explorer, this hero, was none other then the great Dusknoir, saviour of countless Pokémon and sole member of numerous successful expeditions into dangerous territory.

"Zzzt. We had all heard the stories about Dusknoir," an officer of Treasure Town told reporters, the town where Dusknoir staged his search. "We had no reason to suspect he was anything but an upstanding Pokemon, more than qualified for this task. Zzzt. We had no way to suspect what would happen. Zzzt."

The officer was of course referring to tragic events that would occur later on. With Dusknoir leading the hunt with support from Wigglytuff's Guild, famous for its rigorous training and talented apprentices, Grovyle was quickly apprehended. But this was a short lived victory, for it was learned that the damage had already been done. Time had been irrevocably damaged, and even returning the Time Gears to their rightful places could not undo the damage that was quickly spreading to encompass all areas of the Pokémon world.

It was in this darkest hour that Wigglytuff's Guild revealed a startling resource that would pull the world back from the brink. For concealed among there recruits was, amazingly, a seer. We were able to track down a source who claims to have seen this seer in action.

"That's Sol! Her team is team Wanderers and they're the best! They saved my brother when Sol had a vision of a bad Pokemon, and team Wanderers rushed in to stop him!"

The success of Wigglytuff's Guild has never been a secret, but now perhaps we have uncovered how the Guild manages to stay on top. With a seer in their ranks it would be difficult to have an exploration fail.

This seer, Sol the Riolu of Team Wanderers, was able to learn that that only way to put an end to the Time Gear crisis and save the world was to bring the Time Gears to the fabled Hidden Land. With Sol's visions as a guide, Dusknoir was able to gain entrance to these lands and put the Time Gears in their proper places, averting disaster and quite literally saving us all. We managed to track down one witness who says that he was there when the way to the Hidden Land was revealed.

"Chaw-haw-haw. We had to go through Brine Cave. Real nasty place that was, full of tough Pokémon that'd destroy any lesser Pokémon. My team, Team Skull, helped clear out the real baddies and gave them a clear shot to the Hidden Land. Really, they wouldn't have made it without us."

Dusknoir made this perilous journey, surely fighting hordes of hostile Pokémon single handily while the mystic seer told him what needed to be done. It is unknown what exactly happened there in the Hidden Land, but its effects where felt everywhere. The ripples caused by returning the Time Gears twisted time itself so that, for a while, everyone who stepped foot in the Hidden Land was stripped from time. Both Dusknoir and the seer were forgotten, even by those who knew them personally.

"Golly, I used to love Dusknoir," one fan told us. "It's mighty odd to have someone I believed in stripped away. It made me doubt my decision to become an explorer. I reckon we all lose our heros one way or another, though, but I sure wished it happened some other way. It's still hard to believe Dusknoir did all those things Sol said he did."

Yes, it is hard to believe that one person, even the great and mighty Dusknoir, managed to save all of us. And that the time of his greatest achievement was also the time of his death. Only one Pokémon returned to us from the Hidden Land, even after our the ripples faded, time was restored and our memories returned. Sol the seer made her way back, but Dusknoir is nowhere to be seen. It would appear our hero would sacrifice anything to keep us safe, and that includes his life.

We spoke with the lieutenant of Wigglytuff's Guild, who gave us this statement about Sol's return.

"Of course she came back to the guild! Why wouldn't she have? We're the best guild around and she's hard at work right now to finish her apprenticeship. She's not the first star this guild has helped shine. Sol is definitely still an apprentice here."

And with that we say goodbye to the greatest explorer or this generation, perhaps the greatest there has ever been. We alive today owe everything to the great Dusknoir, a hero without peer.

Hey, everyone! I know this one is short, not even really a chapter, but I wanted to get something up before I go back to school in a couple of days. Because of that the next post will be a while, but it will be a full chapter.
