I'm making a Dead Rising and Resident Evil crossover fanfic. It seems appropriate considering the two were both made by Capcom.
This fanfic takes place after Resident Evil 1, around the time of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3,
Let me know what you think.
Who is this Hel, you ask?
You'll find out.
Chapter 1: The Nightmare Begins
Frank West received an interesting scoop.
Apparently, there was a series of gruesome murders going on in the Arklay Mountains. Murders that would make one sick to their stomach if they ever witnessed the crime scenes.
It looked as if someone was hungry...for human flesh.
There had also been reports of gruesome animal attacks.
Was it a rabies outbreak?
Anyways, the city of Raccoon City was on edge. They were well aware as to what was going on outside their city.
They were understandably a bit hesitant to go hiking in that area. Especially with their children. Seemed not even children were safe from the cannibals.
He decided he would go there to see what he could find.
Anything which would improve his career.
It reminded him of the time he had gone to Willamette.
There were zombies everywhere. And one old lady had foolishly let zombies in the mall where they were hiding. It never seemed to occur to her that her dog had become a zombie.
The culprit had been a man upset about the loss of his hometown, mainly because of a government experiment gone horribly wrong. His name had been Carlito Keyes.
He had a sister, Isabela Keyes.
But the city had been nuked, so the zombies were all gone.
His boss had simply laughed off his story, even though it was lucky that he had made it out alive. He had spent seventy-two hours in the mall, though it wasn't nearly enough time for him to run out of food and water.
The asshole.
Granted, the scoop did sound dangerous...but he had already defended himself from psychopaths.
He figured he could defend himself.
However, when he got to the site of the grisly murders, he found nothing.
Nothing except for a smoldering crater.
He sighed.
Looks like he was going to have to find another scoop.
It was worth a try.
But on the way back, he encountered a strange girl...a girl who was wounded.
Disturbingly, she was wearing human skin over her face.
But even so, Frank West couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
He could tell she was a troubled soul.
He decided to take her to the hospital.
Ed Deluca was disturbed, but he allowed her on.
She needed to go to the hospital.
The information they uncovered was disturbing.
Seemed someone had used her as a guinea pig for years.
Who could have possibly done that?
Thankfully, they had managed to remove the viruses from her system...though she still had superhuman characteristics.
Frank West was glad that he had done
Unbeknownst to him, someone had already investigated the murders, and had discovered who was responsible.
It was Umbrella. Apparently they thought it was a smart idea to make a virus that would turn people into zombies.
Because of them, several people and police officers were now dead.
The people that had investigated the mansion were the STARS team.
But they had stopped discussing the Mansion Incident in public some time ago.
That was because nobody believed them, even though only one member of the STARS Bravo had returned from the mission. If they kept talking to it, they might end up in the Raccoon Asylum.
They had discovered their own leader had been instructed to send his own team to their deaths. He had been killed by the Tyrant lurking in the mansion's basement.
The mansion had self destructed, taking Umbrella's research notes with it.
Unfortunately for them, it seemed police chief Brian Irons thought their stories were nothing but baloney.
Though something told Jill Valentine he might know more about the mansion that he let on.
Unfortunately, Umbrella found out about Frank West's discovery.
"Sir, we have troubling information. Someone found out about Lisa Trevor." explained a junior researcher.
"She survived the destruction of the mansion? Don't worry. Nobody will believe him if he finds out about our experiments. After all, nobody believed STARS." spoke a senior researcher.
Though they had Brian Irons to thank for that.
"But sir, that person who discovered Lisa Trevor was Frank West!" exclaimed the scientist.
"Frank West? You mean the news reporter?" asked the senior researcher.
"Yes!" exclaimed the junior researcher. That was the man.
"We'll have to send one of our BOWS after him." remarked the senior.
"He's covered wars. An ordinary bioweapon's not going to do the job." noted the junior researcher.
Additionally, he had apparently fought many zombies in the past. Though these zombies were slightly different from the ones that Umbrella had created. They were LESS durable than humans. The bite was as lethal as ever though.
The senior researcher was at a loss as to what to do.
But as it turned out, someone else had an idea.
"I have a solution to your problem."
The person who said that was Wilford Acetone.
He was dressed in a white lab coat...and like some other villains had a goatee and a beard. He had red hair. And green eyes.
Inside the test tube was a Tyrant.
However, this Tyrant was different from the rest.
Instead of being male, this one was female.
She was wearing a strapless black dress (similar to the trench coats some Tyrants were known to wear), and had long white hair. Hair as white as her skin. And she was shoeless. She also had sharp fangs in her mouth.
She also had sharp claws, though she could retract them if she wished to wield a weapon.
"We're using a female model this time?" asked one of the scientists.
"The male Tyrants were getting kind of stale." explained Wilford.
The scientists shrugged.
As it turned out, the Tyrant had glowing orange eyes, similar to Wesker.
"I call her Hel." explained Wilford.
The scientists thought that was as good of a name as any.
Wilford drained the suspension tank she was in, and she immediately awoke.
She then shattered the container.
"Do us a favor and kill Frank West for us, will you? He's sticking his nose where it doesn't belong." noted Wilford. The sooner he was silenced, the better.
"Frank West...must die." spoke the Tyrant in a chilling voice.
"Very good, my darling. But first, we should target the newspaper company he works for. That way our experiments will never reach the headlines. We'll kill off the man in charge."
"You think she can pull that off?" asked a junior researcher.
From what he had heard, the CEO made sure he was guarded at all times.
"I assure you, there's no risk. She's bulletproof, fireproof, and has the strength of a hundred men. Or women if you prefer." explained Wilford.
"And I'll be giving her weapons, just in case."
Sure enough, she was supplied with a minigun and a flamethrower.
She was also given a pair of shades...much like Wesker.
"Destroy...CEO...Denver Times..." spoke Hel.
Sure enough, she prepared to do just that.
The CEO of Denver Times had no idea what he was about to face.
Meanwhile...
"How did your scoop go?" asked Rebecca Chang.
"Not very well. I didn't find any sign of the cannibals." noted Frank West.
It was as if they never existed.
But there was that girl she found.
The two of them were currently in Raccoon City.
For some strange reason, they kept seeing an Umbrella logo everywhere.
On the lighter side of things, the citizens seemed happy that the cannibals were gone.
Now they could visit the Arklay Mountains again.
Though some of them wondered if the murders were just a sign of what was to come.
Unbeknownst to West, Jill Valentine was nearby.
She had swapped her STARS outfit for a tube top and miniskirt, because she felt that Umbrella was watching the members of the now disbanded group and wanted to throw them off her trail.
Perhaps she would believe him if she told him about what she saw.
But she would have to be careful not to get spotted by Umbrella.
She heard a rumor of reptilian beings in the sewers, which she assumed were Hunters. And she did not want them clawing her face.
Especially because Chris liked her face.
Meanwhile...
The following night at Denver Times HQ, James Johnson (Frank's boss) was having a phone call with Frank West.
He was in his office in his chair.
"A mutant girl? I swear, people are full of crap these days. They talk about zombies, giant spiders, and now mutants..." noted James.
He sounded exactly like the former STARS Alpha team, if you asked him.
James Johnson dressed in white and had a black tie. He had short brown hair and black eyes. And he was Caucasian.
"It's the truth." spoke Frank.
"And I'm the prince of Egypt." snarked his boss.
West sighed.
Why did he work for him, anyway?
"I swear, if things like that exist, I'm a fairy princess." remarked James.
Suddenly, he heard loud footsteps.
"Huh? Whose there?" asked the man.
Someone busted down the door to his office.
It was none other than Hel.
"Death...James..." spoke the Tyrant.
James screamed.
"Mr. Johnson?" asked Frank.
Unfortunately, the phone started beeping.
He did not know what happened to him.
The next day, he found out what happened.
His friend Rebecca had some urgent news to tell him while he was at home watching TV.
"Did you hear?" asked Rebecca. "Your employer died!"
As he was on the phone with him last night, Frank found that information to be disturbing.
Who could have done this to him?
Granted, he wasn't terribly fond of him, but he never wanted him dead.
The manner of his death was unsettling as well.
It seemed he had his heart ripped out.
But who would be strong enough to do that?
His security personnel were found dead as well.
It looked as if they had tried to fight off whoever had attacked his boss...and failed miserably.
Something was going on.
Jill had heard the news as well.
She suspected Umbrella was involved.
But why did they target him specifically?
Surely there had to be a reason.
Perhaps she should try telling Frank West the truth.
She decided to tell him just that.
Meanwhile...
Wilford smirked. The mission had been a success.
The CEO was now dead, which hampered Frank's ability to leak information about Umbrella's experiments.
But he didn't want any loose ends.
He wanted to kill Frank West.
Just in case, he would also instruct Hel to kill his pilot.
That would minimize his chances of escaping. Though if he tried to escape on a helicopter, maybe Hel could simply shoot it down with a rocket launcher. Ironically, one of those had been used to kill the Tyrant that had been in the Arklay Lab.
It would only be a matter of time before she found him. She was a pretty good tracker.
Hopefully Umbrella's secrets wouldn't leak out.
However, he wondered what would happen if the T-Virus were to infect a city.
Sure, it could create supersoldiers in the right conditions...but in normal conditions it created zombies.
The idea disturbed him.
Well, hopefully he could count on everyone else to make sure that never happened.
He was one of the few people immune to the T-Virus, but he still didn't want to be in a zombie infested city.
Now that he thought of it, he heard a rumor that William Birkin was planning to leave the company.
He wondered why he would do so.
Now that he thought of it, STARS was becoming a threat to Umbrella as well.
Perhaps he should deal with them once he was finished with Frank West.
Though given their combat training, they would probably be hard to deal with.
But as it turned out, his employees were way ahead of him.
They were designing a Tyrant to take care of them.
Wouldn't want anyone else to find out about the murders they had caused, now would they?
He applauded his employees for doing the overtime.
They were getting a raise.
This Tyrant was known as Nemesis.
It was more intelligent than its predecessors...much like the female Tyrant Wilford had helped create recently.
When it was complete, it would finish off what was left of STARS.
It would start off with the ones that were still in the city. To their knowledge, Chris Redfield had already left. His sister was still there though. Maybe she could be used as leverage against him? It worked well with Barry Burton.
So far, everything was going according to plan.
They decided to contact Brian Irons to let him know about the plan.
"So, STARS has found out too much, have they?" asked Brian Irons.
"One of them found out about the G Virus William was working on." explained Wilford.
"I look forward to their deaths." remarked the man. Maybe if he was lucky he would get to witness their deaths.
Understandably, Wilford was a bit disturbed by Brian's sadism.
"We'll be sending a Tyrant to deal with them." explained Wilford.
Brian would need to find replacements for them...
...but with all the money Umbrella had given them, that wouldn't be difficult.
Wilford hung up.
"So, my own men have decided to take a stance against Umbrella...a foolish notion. Don't they know who REALLY controls this city?" asked Brian.
The obese man let out a laugh.
This fanfic was inspired by Resident Evil: Apotheosis...unfortunately, the sequel to that fanfic is as dead as a zombie. I'll try to finish this fanfic for you guys' sakes.
I decided to let Lisa Trevor live in this fanfic, because I figured I would need a reason for Frank Weat to become enemies with Umbrella.
I went with a female Tyrant because I wanted to be creative.
In the next chapter, we'll start seeing zombies.
Zombies are why we're into Resident Evil, right?
Then again, they haven't appeared too much in recent games.
