oooOOOOooo
Chloe was in shock.
Nino was Carapace. Nino was one of her classmates. Nino could die.
Chloe may not like Nino that much, but she hated the idea of him not being there. And if he died, he never would be there again.
This had been even worse than when she had heard that Chat Noir had been shot. When she found out Adrian had been shot. Because she had seen Nino bleeding out on the ground. She had seen him desperately trying to protect his Miraculous from Mayura. And that hurt.
Chloe was sitting in a waiting room chair in the hospital now. She was holding Nino's phone in her hands, wishing no one would call him, but knowing that the likelihood of that was slim.
Sure enough, Alya's contact info came up on the screen. Chloe didn't want to answer this. It should be Nino. But Nino was in surgery right now, and there was no way that he would be done in time to answer this. So, Chloe pressed the accept call button and put the call to her ear.
"Nino, where are you? It's been 15 minutes, you should be here by now," Alya voice came over the speaker.
"This isn't Nino," Chloe told her, wishing with all her heart that she didn't have to do this over the phone.
"Wait, Chloe, why do you have Nino's phone?" Alya asked, confusion evident in her voice.
"Nino- well, Mayura, sh-she got him, and h-he got hurt, and we don't know if he's okay," Chloe choked out.
There was a long pause, and Chloe was about to check if Alya was still there, when she asked, "How was he hurt? And how bad is it?"
Chloe took a deep breath before she answered. "H-he was shot. In the stomach. And it's bad, like they don't know if he'll survive, because there's internal damage and he lost a lot of blood."
Alya cursed under her breath. "Where are you now?" she demanded.
"Waiting room of Hotel-Dieu Hospital," Chloe told her.
"And is anyone else with you?"
"Viperion, or Luka," Chloe replied.
"I'm going to come down and meet you, okay, Chloe?" Alya announced, voice starting to shake.
"Okay, bye," Chloe whispered and hung up. She shakily put the phone on her lap and let out a sob. She could barely handle talking over the phone, so how was she supposed to handle talking to Alya face to face?
oooOOOOooo
Alya put her phone down. The day had just gotten better, so how had it gotten so much worse than before?
"Alya, what was that about?" Adrian asked her.
Alya looked at the 3 people staring at her, unable to voice her thoughts.
"Alya, what's wrong?" Marinette asked.
"Why did Chloe have Nino's phone?" Celine voiced, looking really freaked out.
"Mayura went after Nino," Alya whispered.
Everyone's eyes widened. "Is he okay?" Marinette asked.
Alya shook her head.
"Is he alive?" Celine asked.
"As far as I know, yes, but according to Chloe, it's not looking good for him," Alya choked out, tears starting to stream down her cheeks.
Celine clenched her fists and stared at her lap. Marinette was staring at Alya with wide eyes, seeming to be in shock. Adrian simply stared at the ceiling.
Alya then stood up. "I'm going to the waiting room at the hospital, see what's going on, talk with Chloe and Luka," she managed to say with minimal shaking in her voice. She then left, unable to bear the devastation on her friends faces.
Alya walked swiftly to the elevator, rode to the ground floor, and got out there. She went as fast as she could to the door of the ER waiting room and stopped there. She took a deep breath, grabbed the door handle, and opened the door. She spotted Chloe and Luka sitting next to each other, and it was evident that they had both been crying. Luka saw her as well and waved her over. Alya sat across from them.
"How is he?" Alya asked, impressed with herself that her voice was understandable.
"They told us that he has a 50% chance of making it through the surgery and a 30% chance of making it through the night," Luka said softly.
"So, he has a higher chance of dying than survival?" Alya whispered.
Chloe nodded, looking miserable. "They said that he would have had a higher chance if we had gotten him here sooner," she choked out. It was obvious to Alya that Chloe was surprisingly taking this very hard.
"I'm sure you did your best," Alya `reassured her. "It's not like you wanted Nino to die."
"It's just hard, knowing that one of your friends is fighting for their lives and you can't do anything to help," Luka said.
"It is fucking difficult," Alya replied. "But we have to trust Nino now."
"What about Adrian? Do you know how he is?" Chloe asked.
"He's awake and talking, but his mental state isn't good. He's really depressed because his father is a jackass," Alya told her.
"I hate this so much," Chloe whispered.
"Don't we all?" Luka sighed
oooOOOOooo
Celine was in shock.
How had two of the friends she had just made in the 3 days she had a school gotten shot? Actually, how had so many of her classmates become superheroes in the first place?
She had waited in the emergency room for Adrian for an hour. He had woken up. She had thought that the nightmare was over. And then Chloe had picked up Alya's call and told her that the day was so much worse.
Ring, ring, ring. Celine realized that her phone was ringing. She picked the device up and was about to decline the call when she realized that it was her mother.
"I need to take this," she announced and left the room. She shut the hospital bedroom door and answered it.
"Celine, where the hell are you?!" her mother's worried voice came through the speaker.
"I'm at Hotel-Dieu Hospital," Celine told her.
"Are you okay? Do we need to come get you? Are you staying the night? How come they didn't tell us you're hurt?" her mother fired off.
"I'm not the one that's hurt. Two of my friends got shot," Celine said.
"Two of your friends got shot."
"It's really bad," Celine said with a tremor in her voice.
"Did they survive?" Celine's mom asked with a soft voice.
"One of them will be fine, because he didn't suffer a lot of internal damage, but the other one? I don't even know his chance of survival," Celine whispered.
"Honey, what happened?"
"I don't even know the full story, but apparently all of my new friends are superheroes and that caught up with them."
"You mean Ladybug and Chat Noir?" the mother asked, shock evident in her voice.
"Chat Noir and Carapace are the ones that got shot," Celine told her.
"Which one is okay?"
"Chat Noir is fine. Carapace isn't."
"I'm going to come get you, sweetheart. It sounds like it's been a really bad day for you. Would you like me to get you something to eat?" Celine's mother asked.
"I don't think I could keep it down, but thanks for the offer," Celine replied. "Love you, Mama. Bye."
"See you in a bit, honey," her mother told her and hung up.
Celine then walked back into Adrian's room. She sat back into her chair.
"Who was that?" Marinette asked her.
"It was my mom. She wanted to know where I was. She's coming to pick me up. You might want to contact your parents, too," Celine suggested.
"That's probably a good idea. I'll go call them," Marinette said, got up, and left.
"Where am I going to go once I recover?" Adrian asked Celine.
"I'm sure my family can take you in," Celine replied.
"What about Nino's parents? Do they know?"
"As far as I know, they don't. But I have absolutely no way of contacting them."
"This just really sucks," Adrian muttered.
"Believe me, I know. I could lose one of the first friends my age I've ever made after knowing him for 3 days. It definitely sucks."
"Three days, huh? Definitely feels like a lot longer than that," Adrian mused. "I just hope I don't have to go through the pain of losing one of my best friends."
"After all the pain you just suffered with your father? I really hope you don't have to."
OooOOOOooo
Please read and review, I need feedback to be motivated. Also, I'm still debating whether or not Nino is going to survive or not, so if you have an opinion on that, please share!
