Hey, so I know it's a bit weird having me say like 7 years ago when I could just do time skips, but I'm doing it this way simply so you care about the characters. I could do these as flashbacks, but I personally dislike them since I feel like it's a loophole with how stories are written. So these first couple of chapters are really just here to set the stage and show character motives. I know it could be annoying but stick with me please.

SHERRY was peering out the windmill at the streets of the island. As per the usual, screams could be heard and children were freezing on the streets. Sherry looked at herself in a mirror, without any of her makeup on. Her skin was blue towards the edge of her face. The skin itself was dry and a bit peelable. She was shocked she hadn't died yet due to the ice box. Sherry shuttered at the thought of it. Whenever she did anything wrong, which was all the time for her mother, she would be put into the ice box. Depending on how bad her mother thought she did, she would go in from anywhere around 2 minutes to five days. Sherry had only gone in for longer than 15 minutes seven times. It was basically killing her slowly, as was the Isle to most children.
Even though Sherry was only eleven, she did seem beyond her years. She knew that the Isle killed the kids slowly and painfully. Unless your parent was a villain, you wouldn't make it past six. And then there were the spoiled kids of the Isle. Sure, their spoiled was different from Auradon spoiled, but they still had it. Different people had different opinions, but Sherry knew who the spoiled were; Mal, Evie, and Jay. Carlos wasn't as spoiled as the others since his mother was a walking hellbeast. But those three had it the best on the Isle since their parents need them. Most villains didn't care if their children died or not, but those three got a pass.
Sherry shattered the mirror into a hundred pieces, wondering if any of them would make a nice dagger. There was a knock at her door.
"Come in." While at first, Sherry had always been nervous about showing her real face, she didn't care around her three allies. Yowan only cared about them for some list he has, Hector has the same problem but with the different end of spectrum, and Mary was too sweet and shy to say anything.
The door creaked open to reveal Maru standing there. Her eyes were brimmed in worry. Sherry was glad Hector picked the poor girl up before the Isle ruined her completely. Mary looked at Sherry's hands and then to the broken mirror.
"Are you okay?" Mary asked, barely above a whisper.
"Yeah, I just got mad about this shit life." Sherry responded. The youngest girl nodded her head and then sat down on Sherry's bed, pulling out a deck of cards.
Mary's ability to perform card magic was caught not long after she joined their little group. Of course they were impressed, but Sherry knew Mary could not perform much for long. Even simply changing what the card said would cause Mary's nose to start bleeding.
Mary pulled out a card and concentrated on the card. The image changed from the King of Diamonds to a female face, void of any imperfections. Mary then placed the card on Sherry's forehead and Sherry felt a slight tingle on her body. Mary picked up a piece to the now ruined mirror and flipped it so Sherry could see.
Gone were the blue marks that had just adorned her skin. Gone was the dryness her facial skin once had. Sherry's face looked picture perfect and she loved it. No words were needed to be exchanged as Sherry hugged Mary, who at first, didn't know what to do. Mary eventually just awkwardly placed her hands around the blonde.
Sherry should go talk Yowan though. They tended to have daily talks and it seemed lately, there has been something on his mind.
"I'm gonna go find Yowan." Mary nodded at left for her room. Sherry walked around the tower to the main part of the windmill. Yowan was there, staring down on the Isle, lost in thought.
"What's up Sherry?" He asked, never turning away from the window.
"You tell me. There's something on your mind and you're not talking." Yowan sighed and moved to be facing Sherry, but still looked at the Isle.
"Don't you hate it here?" Who didn't? However, no one got to live away so it was pointless to think about.
"Yeah, but it's not like we have anywhere better to go." Yowan finally turned to her. His black eyes had an idea behind him that he has been thinking about for a long time.
"Who says we have to go anywhere? Who says we can't fix this shithole ourselves?" It was a great question but that would require either the parents gone or to agree.
"What chance do we have against the villains? And besides, how are we supposed to know what a functioning government is?" Yowan paused for a second. Sherry was wondering if he didn't think that far.
"Because I've been outside the Isle." Yowan stated this like everyone has.
"What?" Sherry asked in disbelief.
"When I was a baby, I ended up getting switched with another baby from a different dimension. So I grew up there until I was seven. I don't really know how I got back here." Yowan explained. It was confusing, but it made sense. Yowan stood up and left, probably giving Sherry sometime to think.
His plan was to fix the Isle. The only way to do this is to kill the parents, but there is no way they could do it alone. They would need help and lots of it. But the more Sherry thought of it, the more she realized that killing the villains wouldn't fully fix the Isle. The buildings here are falling apart and they would need medicine and farms and animals. There was no way King Adam would give them the necessary materials to live, as he has proven. They would need magic to fully fix this place. And then there was the question on whether or not some adults deserve to die. Not all of them are evil, case in point Smee, and not all of them committed crimes, the Huns. How would they be able to sort the good from the bad? Auradon would know who is here and who is not. It would also have plenty of magic they could use. So how would they get off the Isle.
Sherry's head began to hurt as she thought about it. This needed a lot of things to line up or it would fail. She needed to go explain this to Yowan, maybe he has an idea that could fix it. But at that moment, Sherry heard a scream from the bottom of the windmill. Both her and Yowan raced down the stairs, with Yowan holding his sword just in case. At the bottom, they saw Mary holding up a burned Hector as he moans in pain. The burn traveled from his chest up to his face, passing very important organs. Sherry prayed to whatever god cared that the burn was superficial and Hector would be fine.
"Get him upstairs, we need to clean his wound!" Sherry shouted as Yowan picked Hector up. Sherry knew they should never have let him go home.
The line about Yowan may or may not be explored. I just thought it would be cool to have someone be from a different dimension. I already have an idea for his adoptive family so let me know if you would be interested in seeing Yowan's backstory.
