When it came, it rained like Armageddon. Robin had known that Ngawa would be his last stand and he told himself multiple times that he was ready for it. If anything, this proved he was not. The first sign that the attack had started was when the skies darkened and the countless bug soldiers of millennium descended, lead by none other that Midnight Shadow. Richard Grayson had never seen so much fury in those pink eyes as the combined raw magical power, enhanced by the archon ring made contact with the troopers on the ground.

Yes, the metas who could fly had rushed up to meet them head on but had been thrown to the side. Robin had watched them get batted away as if they were insignificant. They were insignificant. It was Scarlet Witch to die first before the boy wonder's eyes as she was ripped apart at the subatomic level by Midnight Shadow, not able to get a scream out. The barriers thrown up by Constantine and Black Adam did not even last two blows before the bugs were through and all over them. The only reason Robin was not dead himself was only because he had been positioned by Batman at the temple to be the last line of defense. It seemed that the temple was where Sovereign would have to get to be able to stand at the crux of reality and tear it to shreds. They were to stop him at all costs and they were definitely paying the cost.

Even the supped up armor that Tony Stark had designed for him was taking a pounding. The energized birdarangs, the plasma cannon attached to his left arm, they all seemed useless. For every one bug killed, ten appeared in it's place. The defenders of Iris were failing and they were failing quickly.

Robin glanced behind him at the entrance of the temple where Beast Boy, Coulson, Cyborg and others were setting up the Big Quantum Cannon. How were they supposed to use that if they were being overrun and Sovereign himself had yet to arrive? Looking back towards the destruction and chaos, the overwhelming numbers, Robin could only feel hopeless. There was no winning this.

Speed. All Raven could think was speed. Her dark magic had wrapped itself around her and she was soaring through the air like a missile. They had forced the ARGUS jet they had commandeered to fly as fast as possible towards China and dumped it 3/4s the way over the Pacific when it failed. It was simple for her and Blackfire to simply step out and continue their journey through the air. Raven focused hard at the strip of line, the coast of China that was getting closer.

"Is there a plan?" Blackfire shouted over the roar of the wind, her own eyes and limbs glowing purple as she used her flying skill to keep up with the mystic Titan.

Raven remained silent just focusing on the coast line and the sense of her dearest friend Robin through the bond they had forged and forgotten so many years previously.

"Gotcha. Making this up as we go," Blackfire quipped to herself. Raven did not have anything to say. All she knew was that she had to get there, she had to somehow make up for all the horrible things she had done. All she had was herself, the reformed Tamaranian and the cloud of buzzing allies behind her. Only time would tell if it was going to be enough.

The temple grounds had fallen. Robin had used his last birdarang and ejected his second to last fusion clip for his plasma cannon. His suit was damaged and the computer systems were barely able to keep track of the movement around him. The temple itself had yet to be breached thanks to the very strong wards of Doctor Strange but the Millennium troopers were throwing themselves at the barricade. It was not going to last forever.

Robin jogged through the inner courtyard to where the older man sat, cross legged and eyes closed. The sweat on his brow showed how difficult it was for him to maintain the shield against the assault. Batman and Superman stood watching above, unable to respond until the field went down.

"How's it looking?" Batman asked as Robin walked up to him.

"Not good. We've lost contact with everyone outside the temple and we have yet to see him. Midnight Shadow is tearing us apart."

"She doesn't appear to be as strong as Midnight Empress," Superman commented, the bruises on the Kryptonian's face showing how serious the fight was. "if we could somehow keep her guards away from her, I might be able to stop her. That might draw out Sovereign."

Batman remained silent. He knew the same thing that Robin knew. There were not enough of them left to even cause much of a dent to give Superman the chance.

"I think our best bet Clark is to stand our ground here. He has to come to this point and we have the BGC ready to go."

"If anything," Wonder Woman said limping over holding her broken arm to her chest. "We have given everything we could. Our world will not fall for the lack of trying."

It was true. They had thrown everything and lost. This looked like the end of everything. Robin felt his mentor's hand on his shoulder.

"Go check on your team. They're going to need you." for the final standwas the unspoken words in his voice. Robin nodded and made his way to where they were holed up. Cyborg stood with the BGC, guarding it with his life while Beast Boy sat by his side. They were all that was left of his team as Starfire had fallen in the initial attack. Richard had not seen it but when he had asked the Flash about it, he could see the answer in his eyes. Her lifeless body was one of the ones scattered in the fields out front.

"Hey," Robin said pulling up a crate and gingerly sitting down. His body screamed at him for all the abuse it had gotten.

"Hey," Beast Boy responded looking directly into his eyes. There were so many unfinished things to say for all of them but this was it. This was the final moments before everything came to an end. Without even looking, Robin could hear the energy field above starting to fray.

"We got this, right?" Beast Boy said hopefully.

"We just gotta land the shot," Cyborg said laying a hand on his friend's shoulder. "We hit that fucker straight in the face with this BCG and it's over. We got back to the way things were."

Beast Boy seemed to rally at that even though Robin doubted the young man believed any words. All they had to go on was their own solidarity. They were the Teen Titans, even if their numbers had dwindled. They were going to do their best to save the world.

There was a snap and he heard Bruce yell out to them.

"The field is down! Get ready!"

The air grew loud as the glowing green bugs of Millennium descended in screams of triumph.

Raven held as close to the treetops as she could. She had to keep her profile low. That was all that her brain had told her. It had been something that Robin had always said when they were swoop in with the T-Jet on missions to stay below the radar. She did not think they had radar but she know that it would limit the time they had to know she was coming.

Anger flowed through her as she saw the burning fires of destruction ahead. It was an anger she was most familiar with, the power that had come from Sovereign and she had used so often to destroy her enemies. Now she honed it and focused it on her first target. Even though she could not see her, she could sense her exact position. Was it that they both had worn the archon ring? There was no time to find out. All she needed to do was hit that spot and hit it hard.

As she broken in to the opening, her heart screamed in fury at all the bodies she saw strewn throughout the fields surrounding the Tibetan temple. In the glimmer of the swarm of Millennium troopers, she could make out the pink form she wanted. With a scream of rage, Raven shot straight at the woman who was once her lover, ready to stop her no matter what.
