Epilogue – Three years later

Richard Grayson stood on the steps of Jump City Police Department in his suit and tie with a worn out trench coat given to him by Constantine to make him "look like a true detective." The world looked normal around him, the sounds of people going about their daily life.

The world had recovered. It was something he had not thought possible when in the first few months but the re-established Justice League and Iris had worked hard to restore both universes back to a semblance of normal. For most people, the world was just stories of a godlike entity and the strange feeling that everything had ended. Boulder and a few other cities were the only places that true work had to be done.

Richard glanced down at the glittering badge on his belt. He had resigned from the Teen Titans and left it in the capable hands of Beast Boy and joined the police department. After everything that happened, he was done with the hero business. Of course, he got the job thanks to support from the JLA and after the restoration of Jump City from Midnight Shadow's attack, they did not care that Richard Grayson used to be Robin. They actually were more impressed that he had somehow restored a city.

The new Teen Titans, or at least the "Better" Teen Titans as Garfield had started to call them were thriving under their new leadership. Cyborg had finally given in and accepted a position with the Justice League and had gone off to work with them.

Richard was not the only one that got out of the business. After a lot of soul searching, Starfire had announced that she and her sister were looking into starting a girl band and be pop stars instead of super heroes. Starfire was excited about singing and being around people while Blackfire had said something about looking forward to fucking groupies. The ex-boy wonder had decided to let that go.

His thoughts strayed to Raven. She was worse off then everyone else. No matter how much he had gone to bat for her, she had been relegated to a special made prison hidden off the coast of the United States. From what Batman had been able to tell him, it had been a special prison made just for her and was staffed by guards from Atlantis and other safeguards. The Green Lantern Corp had shown up demanding she be remanded to their custody to be put in the Singularity stockade but both the Justice League and John Stewart had put an end to that. The corp was not ready to do battle especially with a godlike entity possibly in the mix.

For her part, Raven had stayed calm, quiet, and compliant as she was scanned, jabbed, examined, and interrogated about her role, her powers, and what was left of it. All signs pointed to the fact that she had expended it all to recreate reality, which was a sentence that terrified a lot of the world governments.

Richard had been able to have lunch with her and Raven had seemed to be in good spirits even though he could see the pain and anguish in her eyes. They had strapped her with tech he had not seen before to make sure every ounce of power was drained and they had full control of her form.

Dick had protested loudly about the way she was being treated but Raven had stopped him telling him that she knew this fate was coming and it was better than the others that was shown to her. She had said something about it was not her happy ending but everyone elses.

That was the final straw for him. He resigned from the Titans, ended his contract with the Super Hero Registration Office and became a regular joe.

The sun was high and bright. The world was safe but what he had been through had made him hollow. Detective Grayson doubted he would ever fully recover from what had happened but at least his friends were alive and he could still help people.

He had their phone numbers in his new phone and was promised he could have lunch with Raven once a year. For everything that happened, he was happy that he had them.

The world had not ended and he was ready to move on to the next phase of his life. Everyone could sleep soundly tonight.

-end-

A/N: That's it! Two years of long, hard work slaving over this piece as it is one of my favorite that I have ever read. I know that it has not been that popular here on the web but that's okay. It was written for me and not for anyone else. If you made it this far, I really appreciate you taking the time to follow the characters and my ideas on this journey.

Of course, nothing truly ends and I have been working on the sequel in my head for quite a number of months. Hence that was the big push to get this done as it would be stupid to start a sequel when nobody had a clue on how it ended.

So, yep, that's it. Thanks for your time, kudos, comments, and just being there to read this. None of it lives without you reading it. No matter what your opinion is on the piece, I appreciate you taking the time to read it!
