Chapter 16: The Assassin

"Asashi..." Y/N's voice spoke as she sat on a branch up in one of the trees. She decided to sit back and relax, thinking about the upcoming training event. The wind blew the leaves on the tree and around her, softly. It was so peaceful in the garden that it made her want to nap a little. The sounds of rushing water nearby and birds chirping through the air, filled her ears.

What private area was he referring to? Where did he plan on taking her? In the forest? That'd be the only thing she could think of... She contemplated on the matter and decided to question her future sensei. Asashi was meditating nearby on the floor where the opened doors revealed the garden and he hummed in response curiously. His eyes were closed and his mouth was in a frown, whilst sitting cross-legged. "What time are we going? Where are we going? Why is the Time Corpse warning us about what to do and what not to do, when she only brought me here by your order...?" she asked and looked down at him curiously, ruining the nice quiet atmosphere.

"In an open field outside of the city, tomorrow at dawn and I made a deal with her in order for you to get brought here... I asked if she'd bring a worthy warrior here but in return, she may alter the future regarding you, however she sees fit. Seeing that she's the Time Corpse, she knows what needs changed. She too, believes this new threat needs taken down. She informed me of what the future brought and was more than happy that I summoned her to my presence, so she could undergo my request. She claimed she predicted I'd ask for her assistance, thus she obliged... Anymore questions...?" Rather annoyed by all the questions, a brow was twitching and he kept his eyes shut. He was trying to concentrate on his meditation, it was clear he didn't like getting interrupted when he's trying to do something.

"Just one thing, it's not a question though..." Y/N chirped and smirked, feeling a joke or a bad pun creeping up in her mind; she was in a bit of a playful mood. Since Rei was gone and she was pretty much safe so far, she thought it wouldn't hurt to try and lift everyone's mood. Right now, she felt like making bad puns, it was basically like an itch that she needed scratched. "It's a children's card game from Yu-Gi-Oh! Asashi summoned the Great Time Corpse as a magic card, in face down mode!" Her arms rose up into the air and her fists balled, she grinnined widely at her own words.

Soon, she went into a fit of her own giggles and leaned over with her hand on her stomach. Asashi just cracked open an eye confusedly but only expressed annoyance seeing that he had no idea...what she meant by that. Only the viewers of this story, would... (:P How many times have I broken the fourth wall?)

"I dare not ask what this, Yu-Gi-Oh is..." Sesshomaru said and came around the corner, out of the house. Obsidian giggled despite not knowing what she meant by that and was sitting up on the balcony peering over the railing at them all. "Aside from that... We must leave soon..." he added, looked down at Asashi with his emotionless features and walked out of the house towards Y/N.

"So soon?! I wanted to see more of the city!" Y/N whined and puffed out her lips to give the dog demon the puppy eyes (lol), which, in turn...didn't even faze the lordship.

"It's too dangerous... Rei Nago is already aware of your presence, we must leave..." he answered and saw Jaken snoozing away against the two large rocks not too far from them, around the waterfall. "Go get Rin..." he demanded Y/N and all she did in return was grumble. So, he peered back up at her and they both ended up having a staring contest for...a whole minute; she was still trying to use the puppy-eye look.

"Fiiiine..." she rolled her eyes in defeat and slid off the branch, only to grunt in pain when she felt a large cramp hit her like a truck. Quickly she leaned over, held her stomach and knitted her brows. "I seriously need pain killers...!" her muttered voice sounded out as she passed Sesshi up. Little did she know, that his golden eyes followed her and looked down at her butt.

He could smell the scent so strongly now but, luckily she took a bath...lest her smell worsens. As she walked past him, Obi and Asashi, all heads lingered on her retreating, slouched over frame.

She left those three outside and walked upstairs to the bedroom Rin was given to nap in. She turned a corner, found the door, opened it up and saw her all curled up on the futon cutely. Rin was sucking on her thumb, curled up in a ball under the blanket that seemed to have been wrapped around her and that nearly made Y/N fall to her knees. FOR PETE'S SAKE, I SWEAR YOU DO THIS TO ME ON PURPOSE! she cried out in her head, had a cute bubbly background behind her and resisted the urge to cuddle her like a teddy bear. SHE'S SO FRIGGIN' ADORABLE! she exclaimed.

Just when she was about to go over and wake her up, a loud crash from the window echoed through the air. It startled Rin awake and made Y/N reach into her pocket to pull out the small cube, planning on taking out her guns.

"Y/N?! What happened?!" Rin squeaked in fear and ran behind her, clenching her tiny fist on her pant-leg and peeking around it with devastated eyes. Y/N was too preoccupied trying to see who it was that barged in like that. Turned out, it was an assassin, or some rogue who broke through the window. "Who's that?! why did he break in and why?!" she was so frightened and she hid behind Y/N more in a quivering manner.

"Half breed, I'm come to get you... Dead, or alive..." It was a male's voice who had spoke and the assassin slowly stood up with his eyes pinned on her. They were even glowing, indicating that he was a demon.

"Half breed?! You make it sound like I'm inuya-" before she got to finish, the assassin appeared before her and grabbed her throat, slamming her against the wall to the side. Rin shrieked, but ran out of the room when Y/N managed to mumble out, go get Sesshomaru. With one hand she gripped his wrist and the other she made the small cube open up to drop her guns, catching one of them before they both fell.

"Come peacefully, by force, or die... Either way, I was ordered to carry out a mission to bring your corpse to my contractor," he explained, leaned close to her face and planned on headbutting her to knock her out, only until she lifted her gun to his temple.

"Eat cow shit..." Through gritted teeth, she mumbled out agonizingly due to the tight grip he had. She saw him glance over at the pistol in her hand and stood there pondering on what weapon that was, only to chuckle in the end. Before he got to speak though, he felt danger from his senses and jumped back the moment she fired. Y/N choked when he let go, rubbed her throat a bit and kept the pistol aimed up at him.

She didn't plan on killing him and she certainly wasn't angry, more like surprised. Her eyes weren't even glowing red, usually when they did, it would indicate the intent to kill or anger.

"Feisty, I see," he commented, pulled out a katana that was against his back and got ready to attack. "However, it won't last long! You will submit, regardless!" He swung at her, saw her dodge out of the way and side swept the blade her way once more.

She ducked, spun and kicked at his feet to knock him down. Once she rose back up, she pointed her laser pistol point blank at the man and frowned.

"Oh look, I still didn't submit.~ Man, you trying to kill me instead of fight me properly or knock me out, makes you a real ASSassin,~" She joked, giggled at her own joke and saw him widen his eyes. He only grumbled and twirled against the floor on his back, kicking at her legs. She fell on her side and grunted from the impact, soon feeling weight hold her down. After she looked over, above her was the said male who was about to swing his knuckles her way. As fast as she could she pointed the gun at him by instinct, but sadly at the same time when she had, he swiped her gun out of her hand and held her wrist down. "Ow, damn it! Hasn't anyone ever told you how to treat a lady?!" she screamed out, was going to lift her knee up to jab him in the crotch, until Sesshomaru came in and ripped the man off of her by his shoulders.

When the man slammed against the wall close by, he instantly recovered from the sudden toss and opened his eyes. The second he saw the lordship standing there when he charged after Y/N again, he freaked out and gasped in shock. "Lord Sesshomaru!" the assassin exclaimed and swiftly knelt on one knee in respect.

He received a threatening growl and watched him walk over to Y/N. "If I had known you were with this feisty, mouthy female, then I would have refused the contract," he stated and shut his eyes.

"Don't worry, I was just a-sassin' ya.~" Y/N laughed again only harder this time and held on to Sesshomaru. He only looked down at her with a risen brow, questioning why she was making light of this situation and why she chose to start joking around of all times... The assassin slowly looked up and stared at her with his annoyed, red eyes, growling angrily all the while.

"Who ordered you and why?" Sesshi asked and viewed the assassin once more, narrowing his golden eyes furiously and stepping in front of Y/N rather...protectively? Of course, Y/N half expected that to happen, but there was something a little different this time. Something she couldn't put her finger on and she stood there pondering on what it was.

"That is classified, my lord. No matter who it is, I cannot tell anyone who I work for. It's the rule of an assassin..." the man answered. Without warning, Sesshomaru appeared before the assassin and used his long claws to slice off his head. Blood gushed out from his body, stained the surroundings in red and his head rolled back against the wall. Y/N widened her eyes at that, her mouth went agape and she gawked at the display.

"Um... Why...did you kill him...?" After she asked that, Sesshi just turned around and glared at her dangerously, with his hand lifting into the air.

"He was useless... Assassins who go by that rule, are stubborn. He would have never told us no matter what torture we would give him..." Sesshi answered, flicked his wrist and swatted the blood off of it.

"Ooooh...~ Well, thank you! I could've had him though!" She smiled but, frowned at the end of her sentence and sweatdropped; her alien e/c eyes stared into golden, narrowed ones. Just for a split second, she could've sworn she saw him smirk at her comment before he turned his back to her! That made her gasp in disbelief.

"I saw him smack your gun away and you had no other weapons on you... So no, you wouldn't have..." he stated, unbeknownst to the young woman though, he had an amused smirk that was barely visible! You would have to REALLY look at his face to see it.

"I was going to kick his crotch in!" Y/N shouted, ran after him when she saw him leave the room and waved a fist in the air. Rin was somewhere downstairs, she was told by Sesshi not to come up since it'd be too dangerous for her. "DON'T IGNORE ME!" she screamed out comically.

Obsidian could hear every word outside as they came down the stairs and laughed. Asashi kept growling lowly to himself from all the noise and her outburst woke Jaken up from his nap, which... He snorted awake with a few swats with his staff. Apparently he was having a good dream, fighting off dragons or whatever.

The green bean noticed that he wasn't asleep anymore and he grumbled angrily, clenching his grip tighter on his staff. Honestly, L/N is terribly disrespectful, rude, reckless-! he yelled out in his head and continued with his rant. It was already nearing night time, so Obsidian... As gross as it may seem...licked all the blood up. Good thing no one was upstairs to see it...
