Chapter 18: The basics.

Slowly through the woods outside of the city, both Y/N, Asashi, Sesshomaru and Jaken tagged along. They found themselves in a clearing where a field of flowers waved from the soft wind that blew. Rin and Obsidian remained at his home since Asashi changed his mind and demanded that they stay behind. Y/N was holding her stomach and was groaning from morning cramps that were saying hello, it was dawn.

The sun was barely over the horizon, she appeared groggy and her slouched over position proved that she was tired. "Ooooh, my stomach... I hate morning cramps," Y/N groaned in pain and stood there with them in the field until she plopped on to her knees. Face first she fell over and her hand not once moved from her lower regions. Why, cramps... WHY so early in the morning?! I won't be able to eat straight! she mentally whined and cried comical tears in her head.

"Get up, L/N," Asashi demanded and watched her wobble up on to her feet. His strict, orange eyes lingered on her frame and heard her groan agonizingly. "Hand lord Sesshomaru your weapons... I want you to concentrate on how the wind blows in this field... The wind blowing can indicate the weather in the environment, but it can also help one understand the kinetic maneuverability throughout the air," he explained in his quiet, deep voice and closed his eyes.

"My lord, what does he mean by maneuverability throughout the air?" Jaken questioned as he stood next to his lordship and appeared wide-eyed at the full-blooded Ketix. All he got was silence though, that made him grumble since he wanted to know what he meant by that.

Sesshomaru looked over to view her and saw her walking over to him with her small cube in hand. She handed it to him, in which he took, and wandered back over in place. She tried her best to ignore the pain and chose to wait there until he told her to begin. "Now, I will demonstrate to you, an example of what manipulating kinetic energy is like...in a slow manner; this way you will be able to comprehend how it's done..." he said, clenched his fists and kept his eyes closed.

With his one hand, he jerked it open towards the ground and stiffened his fingers. Y/N watched with anticipation and a mouth agape, her eyes were sparkling with interest. Sesshomaru stepped away a bit further to get a full view of how it worked, he too, was intrigued with this kinetic energy power; so had Jaken, only he decided to hide behind the lordship... Suddenly, from all around him, the ground began to quake and the wind whipped at his frame a little harsher. Soon ruble such as pebbles, dirt and old flowers that were already dead on the field, began to lift into the air.

What neither she or Sesshomaru expected, was to see his feet kind of distort a little. They wavered and soon began to vibrate so fast that they looked as though they weren't moving at all. Slowly with one foot stepping forward, he instantly vanished.

The sound barrier broke; in a large sphere the flowers got torn and flew into the air whilst an explosion sounded off. He dashed past them so quickly that it was blinding and from his speed, countless other flowers got torn up and a lengthy coned trail was left behind.

Sesshomaru's eyes were comically wide in shock, to know Asashi could move that fast to the point of breaking the sound barrier...was astonishing. Y/N's mouth hung open and her eyes were wide, one of them twitched all the while. Jaken looked as pale as a ghost, he wasn't able to even keep up with that man's speed! As all three watched Gota gradually turn to face them, his narrowed, strict orange eyes viewed them from the distance.

"Once you master this technique, no one can outrun you..." he began, sauntered their way and his strict features appeared unfazed by their flabbergasted faces. "Now, stand here where I'm at and meditate for a while... Get the feel of the wind, we'll start from the basics..." he added.

"Well... Does that mean Mr. green bean here can't stay around us? He's noisy, distracting and..." she trailed off, averted her alien eyes and scratched her cheek with her finger. "Stuff...?" she finished. All she could hear were grumbling not too far from her, she knew she hit a nerve.

"Jaken... Do not speak while she concentrates... Fly into the air and keep watch," Sesshomaru peered down at Jaken with his emotionless golden eyes and saw him frantically gasp. Sesshi was needed to help her train, but it turns out that right now he wasn't. Asashi might have referred to when she gets past the basics.

"Y-Yes my lord! Right away!" Jaken rose his voice and took to the sky, hovering up there to stay on the lookout.

Y/N sighed out of relief and nodded a thank you to Sesshi, only to receive his expressionless features. After she walked over to that spot Asashi demanded her to sit at, she sat down cross-legged and shut her eyes. The soft wind gently brushing against her skin and through her hair, felt relaxing. Just hearing the surrounding trees in the distance and the leaves rustle throughout the air, it almost made her fall asleep... Until a pair of hands clapped loudly in front of her face.

She nearly squeaked and fell against her back if she hadn't caught herself in time. Asashi stood before her with a serious look on his face, his hands were clasped together indicating that he was the one who did it.

"Don't become content, focus on how the wind moves...!" he lifted his voice a little sternly and walked away, standing off to the side with his arms crossed. She tried again, took a deep breath and closed her eyes once more.

Alright, Y/N. Don't relax, don't relax... she repeated in her head and focused her mind. She could tell which way the wind was blowing. It came from her right side that she believed was east, then a little bit northeast. She took in consideration of how fast it blew, she couldn't measure it's speed at all but she could only imagine how fast it would be. If the wind could catch or hit something before it falls to the ground, then she at least knew from there how fast it was.

With a slow exhale, she opened up her hands, placed the backs of them on her legs and leaned her head back to face the sky. Her mouth went agape slightly and her brows knitted, she was starting to understand what he meant by that. The speed of the wind, it's faster than falling objects and can sometimes even carry obstacles along with it if they're light enough. The wind blows in many directions too; if they all blow in countless directions then that means everything in their path will be tossed around or spun in place. Spun in place... In place...in place... From what I saw when Asashi gave me an example, the vibrations that were caused by the manipulated speeds of the wind or environment, whichever way he explained it, let him run blindingly fast! Friction, he built up friction too! I think... she said in her mind and decided to try and manipulate the kinetic energy.

Albeit a bit too soon, she thought she might as well give it a try. She knew she was just beginning, but it felt like she was getting the hang of which way the wind was blowing and its speed.

Y/N's hands were clenched, her brows remained knitted and her mouth was still agape. With her fingers flexing out in a stiff manner as he had done, she tried reaching out towards the wind and sure enough, she felt an odd force. Asashi widened his eyes at seeing this, he couldn't believe it...he could feel her pulling on the force! Her teeth gritted into view and her head lowered, pulling the said force all around her body.

Small tremors, not as big as Asashi's but it was there...and she could feel faint vibrations making a tingly sensation on her skin. She was sweating a little, her mind had never worked this hard before, but alas...she gave in. She let go and panted with a loud gasp as if she was holding her breath. Her eyes were wide and they viewed her trembling hands. "Whoa..." she mumbled in awe.

"Astounding..." Asashi began with widened eyes and caused her to view him. Even Sesshi looked over at him, raising a brow curiously and not understanding why he was so surprised. "L/N... You must be a natural... Only those who can recognize the force in the kinetic energy this early through training, are prodigies. This changes things..." he said, put a finger to his chin and lowered his attention to the ground in contemplation. "At this rate, it won't take you long at all to understand and manipulate the kinetic energy," he added, then looked over at her with a faint smirk. "Now, keep practicing that until you actually manage to grab a hold of the force and control it," he said.

"Seriously, that's all I gotta do? Sweet,~" she giggled to herself and stood up, brushing off her attire from the excess dirt and grass blades. From above, they could all hear Jaken hollering.

"My lord Sesshomaru, Obsidian has a message scroll for you!" Jaken yelled out, floated down and was accompanied by Obi who flapped his dark red wings. They both landed and the batman smirked at the lordship, all the while handing out the scroll.

"It appears you were invited to a special ball at the palace, my friend.~" he teased, just to earn a grumble from Sesshomaru and got the scroll yanked out of his grasp. Obi frowned and put his hands up in defense. "No need to be, unfriendly towards your old partner.~" he smirked and chuckled to himself. As if on cue, he got punted in the stomach by Sesshi's foot and went flying away into a tree in the distance.

Sesshomaru looked rather irritated, his eyes were closed and he lowered his leg. Once he opened the scroll, Y/N, Jaken and Asashi all got behind him to see.

It read, Dear lord Sesshomaru; I heard you were visiting my city and I would love all the royals and the utmost richest families to attend the royal ball that will be held at my palace around eleven o'clock. In memory of my dead husband, King Suji, our anniversary and the anniversary of the day when the city was first built. Your mother and siblings will participate as well, I do hope you come; you may bring any of your close friends if you wish. Sincerely, Queen Yuko Suji.~. He read its contents and closed the message after taking the invitation out of it. Obi already received his invitation, they are unaware of that though.

"So, a ball? What, is this ball purchasable? What's it's price?~ Is it really that fancy, that everyone wants to buy it?~" she joked, grinned and earned all eyes, excluding Obi's of course..upon her frame. They all sweatdropped at her bad pun and Obsidian just giggled at her words, after he recovered from the hit. "What? Not a good time?" she questioned with curious features and blinked up at Sesshi.

"We must prepare..." That was all she got from him, in other words...she just got ignored. He walked away after stuffing the invitation and scroll into his robes and made Y/N narrow her eyes.

"Hey, that pun was awesome, don't ignore it...!" she stated playfully and smirked, before tagging along behind him and having the others follow; they made their way back into the city and at Obi's house.
