Chapter 19: Royal palace!

After they all ate at Obsidian's house and took separate bathes one at a time, everyone began shopping in the marketing district; the area that led up to his home. Sesshomaru looked around eyeing every piece of clothing there was, he was searching for a fresh kimono for Rin. Jaken tagged along with the child who gleefully explored one of the market stands that held up various clothing. She gawked at the many different colored kimonos and the green imp had his arms crossed, tapping his foot out of impatience. "Honestly, humans always take too long when it comes to making a simple decision..." he angrily spouted and grumbled.

Sesshi looked at a kimono and stared at it blankly, it was difficult to tell what he was thinking. "Lord Sesshomaru! I want this one!" Rin beamed happily and pointed at a gorgeous pink kimono with rose petals littered all over it. He walked over, took it off of its display and hung it over his arm carefully, so to not rip the high-quality material. It was made of fine silk, Y/N guessed it was really pricey... Next, it was Y/N's turn... While they remained in the women's area with the kimono displays, Sesshi thought it wise to go ahead and get hers. He peered over at her with his expecting eyes.

"Whoa now, I don't do kimonos! Noooo thank you!" Y/N put her hands up in defense and took a step back. Smiling with one corner of her lip twitching and a sweatdrop down the side of her head, she just got done wishing she didn't have to get one... It was yesterday in fact.

"You will wear one, L/N... Or, I'll choose one for you..." he stated with a bit of a strict voice and narrowed his eyes. She could feel a bit of anger radiating from him, so she decided to make a suggestion.

"If... If something happens, I won't be able to defend myself because of how tight it is and the lack of leg space it has. Couldn't I... Oh, I don't know...wear men's clothing? I mean really, how am I-" before she got to finish, a kimono hysterically got thrown at her face. She stood there with that kimono covering her expression and remained in the posture she was in. It didn't show who threw it until Sesshomaru was shown standing there with his hand outstretched.

"I will not have you delay us or make this difficult... The ball is soon, we don't have that much time..." he said in his low, almost angry voice and turned around to go to the men's area. Y/N STILL stood there and Obsidian who was behind her giggling faintly to himself, with his hand over his mouth.

Slowly she peeled off the kimono and exposed her annoyed features. Squinted e/c eyes, a brow twitching from anger, and a frown present... Wouldn't want to forget that lovely, throbbing irk mark either. "You're gonna pay for this..." The irk mark grew bigger and as it showed the back of her head now, Sesshomaru overheard her comment. He peered over his shoulder at her and as shocking as it may be, he gave a comeback...

"Yes, I will pay for it... It's cheap..." With a sly but faint smirk that only she got to see before he turned his head back around, he continued on his way and left a gawking, mouth dropped, Y/N behind.

Did he just-?! she mentally exclaimed with a gaping mouth and wide eyes evident. He did, didn't he?! I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER HEARD IM PULL OFF A JOKE BEFORE! she added and smiled, nearly giggling at the thought of him becoming a stand-up comedian. She knew he'd never do it, but it was hilarious to imagine. Apparently, her jokes were rubbing off on him.~ Quickly she tagged along, only to get slightly pulled back by her shoulder. She twirled around to see Obsidian standing there smirking, then saw him lower his hand afterword.

"Y/N, might I ask you something?" he questioned, stepped closer and kept that Sebastian smirk on. She swore that he was gonna get sued one day...

"What...?" With a risen brow and an irritated face, she plopped the kimono over her shoulder and put her hands on her hips.

"Would you possibly like to become my date, to the ball? I'm certain lord Sesshomaru holds no intimate feelings towards you, so it shouldn't harm anything.~" he asked, then stated at the end.

Y/N stood wide-eyed at the batman and her mouth was in a frown, she expected something from him when he pulled on her like that but...to ask her out? Is...he...asking me out on a date...? Or, is this just a-...wait. Hold on, he mentioned Sesshomaru doesn't have INTIMATE feelings towards me... So, does that mean he's referring to a date-date?! As in, get to know each other and kiss on the first day?! HELL NO, I'M NOT KISSING SOMEONE WHO FRIGGIN' SUCKS BLOOD FOR A LIVING! she mentally panicked, sweated profusely and gulped.

She lifted a shaky finger and was going to deny his request, but he gently grabbed her hand and lifted her head up by her chin. His lips were getting dangerously close but then, he stopped...just mere inches away.

"I would love to dine with you... If you'd let me,~" he stated in almost a seductive tone and was about to make his move when Sesshi came up from behind him. The lordship yanked him backward by his dark red hair and made the batman yelp out slightly.

Y/N kept her astonished expression except her mouth hung open in awe, after seeing the dog demon protect her from the batman. There was fury on his face, she had no idea why there was and she began to ponder on that. "Stop meddling with her and go find something proper to wear..." Through obvious anger and a free clenched fist to his side, he let go of the bat demon's lock of hair with his other.

"Of course, forgive me,~" Obi chirped and giggled, blushing faintly towards Y/N before giving her a split second smirk. He trotted off towards where Jaken and Asashi stood, soon exploring the men's clothing.

Y/N sighed in relief, releasing a breath she didn't think she had. "Thanks, Sesshomaru. Oh, by the way..." she said, narrowed her eyes and walked up to him. He watched her stand on her tiptoes and stare sternly into his yellow eyes. "Just call me Y/N... We're friends, so stop trying to hide it. I don't like formalities between friends," With that said, for just a moment his eyes widened by a small fraction and quickly returned to their furious feature. Next, he saw her smile real big, then...she hugged him.

He nearly stiffened at her unexpected action. Since they were in Japan and hugging is actually considered intimate, he began to question rather she was hinting towards something or not. After she let go, she trotted over to where the guys were and left Sesshomaru there alone.

The said lordship had faint and I mean FAINT, flushes dusting his cheeks. He didn't show how shocked he was, he kept his stoic facade present. Why did she hug me...? She certainly isn't from here, regardless of what timeline she came from... he said in his mind and his piercing yellow eyes lingered on her distant frame for a good two minutes. He snapped his eyes wide at realizing that he was checking her out, in turn...he shut them. Grumbling, keeping his eyes closed and walking over to them all.

It was time... Everyone was gathering at the entrance of the palace and Y/N was in line with her little group. It took Y/N forever to get dressed though. Her outfit wasn't complex but beautiful none the less. It was just hard to walk in, especially when she wore wooden clogs... (Pick your kimono! xD) She didn't want an overly dramatic hairstyle, she wanted something simple that didn't make her stand out as much.

She had small hints of makeup but nothing too ridiculous. Just on the lips and eye makeup. Sesshomaru took her and Rin to a hairdresser and had someone do their makeup for them.

The building was gorgeous! It was white with the feudal era vibe to it, gigantic and had bits of red around the rooves. Red banners hung over to the sides of the entrance, guards in samurai armor stood in place on either side too. Everyone who showed them their invitations, let them pass with a simple nod. The pathway to the front doors was made of cobblestone, reaching across water like a bridge.

Sesshomaru kept his original robes on, she guessed his attire was already regal as is. Jaken wore fancy red clothing, Asashi wore a black kimono with red flowers on it and had his feathered collar around him. Rin wore her outfit too, it was adorable on her and Y/N mentally squealed at her cuteness.

Once they got inside, Sesshi and Obsidian showed their invitations, then they all went in. Everything looked different! It was breathtaking inside! The floors shined from its polished state, dancers were in the middle giving off a welcoming performance, tables were set up with candles and had cushions so the guests could sit.

Red pillars were connected to the ceiling and the floor. Drapes of red and white hung from the ceiling and clear white, silky drapes veiled over the throne where the Queen sat. No one could see her, but it was clear that there were more than just her behind it. The throne was up on a platform, where a set of small steps led up to it. Guards were everywhere, intently watching each and every person who would walk in.

Instinctively, Y/N clung to Sesshomaru. Gripping lightly on his sleeve out of sheer nervousness, she watched everyone pass them by as her and the gang all sauntered over to a table. Sesshi felt her light grip and looked down at her, noticing her nervous features.

The lordship looked back up and just let her hold on, not minding her clinging to him like that. As soon as they sat down at the table, it wasn't long until a familiar voice to both her, Sesshi, Rin and Jaken chirped up.

"Sesshomaru?! It's been a while!" Kagome, who wore a beautiful blue kimono, raced up to their table while Inuyasha who was dressed in a black silk kimono and hakama pants, followed behind. All she got from him was silence and him shutting his eyes. "Stubborn as usual..." she rolled her eyes and folded her arms with a faint smile. "Who's this? Is she your girlfriend?!" she chirped excitedly and caused Sesshomaru's eyes to widen and nearly made him tumble over comically to the side if it wasn't for his pro skills of giving off a composed front.

Asashi lifted a brow at the two who approached and watched. Sesshi and Y/N sat side by side, Rin sat on his other side, while Obi and Asashi sat together across from them. "And who're they?" she added another question, glancing over at Obi and Asashi.

"No, sorry. I'm Y/N L/N, that's Obsidian and he's Asashi Gota Nice to meet you!" Y/N happily beamed with a big grin, knowing exactly who it was. Inuyasha stepped forward and stood by Kagome's side, eyeing the young woman with narrowed eyes.

"I'm KagomeHigurashi and this is Inuyasha. Glad to meet you all,~" she grinned and patted the tsundere dog demon next to her, who only averted his eyes away from them all. "I had a feeling Sesshomaru would be here, but for him to bring along comrades to? That's something else.~ So, where'd you come from Y/N? You don't look like you're from around here." With a friendly smile, Y/N nervously laughed and scratched the back of her head with closed eyes.

"Um, it's...a long story," Her saying that in reply, she looked over pleadingly at Sesshomaru, but got an emotionless stare from him in return. With a sigh she gave in, she knew where Kagome came from so she didn't see any harm in telling her. With a hand lifting to cover one side of her mouth, she whispered. "I'm from the future, I was brought here by some mythical being." Slowly she took out her phone from under her robes just barely and had it peeking from beneath. Instantly Kagome gasped, rushed down to her level and pushed the phone back in her robes.

"Don't show that! People will start thinking things...! I believe you, you don't have to tell me. I could tell just by the way you were talking...!" Kagome urgently whispered back and saw Y/N nod in understanding. Thus, she stood back up and smiled. "We should chat later or at some point. You guys have fun!" She exclaimed, waved goodbye and walked off, with Inuyasha protectively getting behind her so no one could possibly snatch her.

Y/N smiled at his behavior and giggled slightly, shaking her head. Her eyes glanced over at the dancers, then over to Sesshi who was...staring at her? Her face lit up ten shades of red, she had no idea just how long he's been staring and it unnerved her! "W-What...? Did I say something wrong?" she asked, just to earn silence in return. He just looked away and closed his eyes...faintly blushing, to where not even she would notice.
