A silver tabby padded through murky brown puddles.
"I hope we can stop soon." She said.
"We might have to," The brown tabby next to her replied, " Jewel's going to have her kits any day now." The silver molly paused.
"Why didn't you tell me then?" She snapped.
"I figured you knew." He replied.
"Just- tell me next time ok?" She said. He nodded, and continued to walk, a bit slower so he was next to a calico tom. A small black molly led the front of the group. She stopped.
"I think this looks like a good place." She stated.
"It's cold and wet, but at this point I'm afraid we have no choice." A silver tabby said.
"Are you sure we should stop here? The ceiling looks like it might cave in, if it starts to rain again." A grey molly said.
"Chase," the silver tabby commanded. The black she-cat stepped forward, "you've had the most sleep of all, you will be the one to keep guard tonight."
Chase scoffed under her breath, but no one heard. She nodded.
"Good. The rest of us should get some rest. We leave at dawn." All six cats began to make their nests. The grey she-cat and the calico nestled beside each other, trying to warm up. After every other cat had grown still, the grey molly turned to the calico.
"Jacob? Are you awake?" She asked.
"Yeah. I can't sleep." He said.
"How many moons have we traveled?"
"I don't know. A lot, though."
"I can't remember the last time I was warm."
"Neither can I. I think we should both try to sleep." The grey molly lowered her head. Jacob looked off into the distance.
