Chapter 2

The house was abuzz with holiday sounds even though it was barely nine in the morning. The wireless radio was tuned to the WWN (Wizard's Wireless Network) and Christmas music played, creating a wonderful ambience and background to the happy chaos that was going on in the Burrow.

While it was still early, the house was already full of the sweet and spicy smells of pie and cookies as well as the savory smell of a turkey roasting in the oven. The kitchen had been magically enlarged for today's party to include extra space to work, storage space, cooking space, table space and even a small sitting space with a couch and chair by an extra kitchen fire. The kitchen was full of people wearing bright red and green Christmas aprons, having been put to work after breakfast by Mrs. Weasley. Ginny and Hermione were working on forming cookies, Fleur was making some sort of French dessert while Mrs. Weasley had Ron, Harry and the twins peeling potatoes the muggle way, sitting at the elongated table. Mrs. Weasley moved swiftly around the kitchen with her wand raised high, almost as if she were the conductor to some sort of food concert. She sang loudly along with her favorite wizard Christmas songs, hits like "Don't curse me this Christmas" and "I'll hex you for the Holidays", as they played on the radio.

"Can we pleese turn eet to 'nuzzer station?" Fleur asked as she waved her wand and created whips of cream on top of her dessert. "Even muggle music vould be better zan zis." Fleur was not a fan of the cheesy Christmas songs that the WWN was playing.

Mrs. Weasley froze in the middle of filling a pot with water and turned to glare at the white blonde young women. The rest of the room froze in their endeavors and turned to see how Mrs. Weasley would react.

There was silence for a moment as Mrs. Weasley glared at Fleur. "It is creating the Christmas mood," Mrs. Weasley finally responded, turning back to her pot in the sink that was now overflowing. She turned off the water and began to sing along to "Gnome for the Holidays". She carried the pot over to the stove just as Bill entered the kitchen and Fleur groaned quietly.

Bill had just come down the stairs and heard the interaction between his wife and his mother. He knew that his mom and wife did not see eye to eye on many things, especially when it came to music. So he had rushed in, hoping to break the tension.

"Good Morning all!" He said cheerfully walking past his brothers and Harry who had gone back to peeling potatoes.

"Good Morning Bill," they called.

He walked over to his mom. "Happy Christmas Mum!" he said interrupting her fiddling with the stove buttons to envelope her in a hug.

Mrs. Weasley smiled. "Merry Christmas Bill," she exclaimed happily. She returned his hug. "I trust you slept well?"

"I did. Very rested."

"Wonderful! Your farther is out collecting more wood for the fires. I'm sure he could use your help." Mrs. Weasley replied, turning the burner on under her pot and bustling off to find another pot to cook some green beans in.

"Well I was hoping that Fleur might be able to help me with something in the sitting room but I don't want to take her if she is busy helping you." Bill said, glancing over at his wife.

"Ha!" Ginny muttered under her breath from behind him. Bill turned to his sister, who was standing by the island counter with Hermione. He narrowed his eyes at her but she just shrugged and went back to rolling cookie dough.

"I am done vith zee dessert. I 'ave time to 'elp you Bill," Fleur said, untying the gaudy apron she had been wearing, and tossing it on to the counter next to her dessert.

"Is that okay mum?" Bill asked. He knew that he was a grown adult, and Molly's oldest, but he also knew to show respect to the runner of this house, and that was Mrs. Weasley.

Mrs. Weasley nodded and waved them off with a shoo motion of her hands as she opened the fridge and pulled out a giant bowl of green beans. "Who would like to clean these?" She said turning to the boys at the table.

"Oh goodie, green beans!" Fred exclaimed, his response laden with sarcasm. Mrs. Weasley shot him a piercing glare. "Heh heh… Sorry mum. I'll do them." He said standing up and walking over to his mother to grab the bowl.

As he past Fleur and Bill, who were exiting the kitchen hand in hand, he muttered, "I hate green beans."

Bill's face erupted in a smile at his brother's antics. He had missed being around all his family when he had been away in Egypt. He led Fleur out of the kitchen and into the hall.

"What did you need 'elp vith, Bill?" Fleur said as she continued moving into the living room. Bill pulled her back gently toward him where he stood at the bottom of the stairs. He smiled at her and slipped his arms around her waist. She giggled. "Zees does not look like I am 'elping you."

"Oh but you are. Look up." Bill said glancing up at the mistletoe.

Fleur looked up too. "What is zees? Mistletoe?"

"Why yes it is." Bill looked back down at her, grinning a little wickedly.

Fleur looked at him questioningly. "So eet is mistletoe- gui. Eet is used in 'ealing." She replied, not having remembered the tradition with mistletoe.

"Don't you remember Fleur that it is tradition for two people who meet under it to kiss?" Bill said with a laugh in his smile.

Fleur blushed. "Oh… yes…"

Bill's laugh spilled over and he let out a hearty chuckle. "Oh ma petite beauté." He reached up then and touched her check. He stared for a moment as he took in her indescribable beauty. "Shall we kiss? It will bring us good luck."

Fleur's bright blue eyes looked up into Bill's and she smiled. "Mais bien sûr mon amour."* Fleur replied reaching up and running her hands through Bill's hair. Bill growled just a little and leaned down, taking her lips possessively with his. Fleur's breath caught for a moment before she kissed him back.

* "But of course, my love."
