Chapter 5: Becoming Jedi

Plo Koon's POV:

Master Yoda had just called a council meeting to discuss what do with the teenagers that I had rescued from Alderaan. I entered the council chambers, and found the other Jedi masters already in their seats. Offering a slight bow of acknowledgment, I walked over to my chair and sat down. "Decide today, we must," Yoda began," on the fate of the district inhabitants." "Considering their force sensitivity, they could be trained as Jedi." Master Ki-Adi-Mundi suggested. "I sense a lot of fear in them." Mace Windu stated. "Fear in them there is, much fear." Yoda said gravely. Stass Allie spoke up," it is hardly fair masters, to judge them by their fear. They were placed in a barbaric arena to fight to the death, that would take its toll on anyone. I've come across something similar in the of survivors of the Geonosian arena, it's to be expected."

"If we don't train them, then what are we going to do with them?" Obi-Wan Kenobi asked," it cannot be allowed for them to fall into the clutches of the Separatists." "If this council sanctions their training, how do we know that they won't run to the enemy, like Cato did?" Windu demanded. "If they haven't already done so, I see no reason why they would now." Shaak Ti commented. "Vote, we will." Yoda said," in favor if you are, raise your hand, you will." Every council member raised their hand, with the exception of Masters Windu, Saesee Tinn, and Oppo Ranciss. Yoda nodded his head, as if he had expected this outcome," almost unanimous this decision is, trained they will be."

"And which Jedi will they be assigned to?" Asked Oppo Ranciss. "Know I do not," Yoda said," volunteers have we?" " I will train Rue," Kenobi offered. "I think you two would work well together," I commented." Yoda nodded his head in approval," agree with this match, I do." Mace Windu leaned foward in his chair, saying that he would train Katniss; and Yoda, after much consideration, announced that he had chosen Arinya. I wasn't the slightest bit surprised, everyone knew that he had been extremely fascinated by her.

I, as was every other Jedi Master in the room, was taken aback when Shaak Ti asked to train Thresh. "Why should you be allowed to train another apprentice," Oppo Ranciss snapped," you've already failed the other two." The room fell silent, Shaak Ti looked very hurt by Oppo's flippant remark. It was Mace Windu who broke the silence, he sighed," Master Ti, you're a very wise Jedi master, however I do not believe that teaching is your area of expertise." I stood up," Masters," I said calmly," if teaching is not Shaak's expertise, then why have we tasked her to oversee the clones' training on Kamino? It is my belief that she is an excellent trainer; do the clones not preform their duty well? If she was as bad of a teacher as Ranciss and Windu would like to believe, then it was extremely illogical for us to put her in charge of the clones." "A point Plo Koon has, hmm?" Yoda sounded almost giddy," train Thresh Shaak Ti shall."

"I believe that that leaves Clove," Ki-Adi-Mundi said," not very many Jedi will be willing to train her, she is too arrogant and unpredictable." "That assessment is on point Master Mundi," Windu said," we might be a little short on volunteers for this one, she is very uncooperative." "I will train her," I said." "Hmm, if anyone is to break her of her stubbornness, Master Plo Koon it is." Yoda said.

Clove's POV:

Well of course, we have been summoned to the Jedi council chambers, again. I wish they'd just leave us alone. Us meaning me, I could care less about the others. A Jedi by the name of Luminara Unduli, escorted us to the council. She'd been assigned to watch over us. For some odd reason, when we entered the room, all of the Jedi masters were studying me specifically. I simply glowered at them; however my intimidation tactics must be a little rusty, for they continued to look at me. Finally the bald headed Jedi named Windu, spoke up," we have a proposition. All of you are formally invited to join the Jedi order." The other tributes, minus me, exchanged glances, before deciding to except the offer. I remained silent. The shriveled, green troll freak turned his gaze toward me," a decision, Clove, have you made?" He said in his idiotic pattern of speech. "Now why exactly should I join your stupid cult?!" I snarled.

Master Unduli looked at me sternly, as did all of the other Jedi present. " I will not be forced to join a group of criminals." Yoda looked slightly surprised at my accusation," criminals, we are not. To join, your decision that is." I huffed, of course, all criminals said that. Having had enough of improper grammar, I stormed out of the room, rather angrily.

Plo Koon's POV:

I followed Clove to the temple docking bay. She was a whirlwind of fury. "Control your emotions young one. Anger clouds your judgment." Turning around to face me, she said," why are you so interested in me?" I sighed," after that display of emotion, the council is less than pleased. They believe you are being swayed by the dark side." "SO WHAT?! Who cares?!" "Quite a bit of people, actually. The council has the authority to hold you, if they believe that you're a threat to the Republic." "They wouldn't dare," Clove snarled. "I suggest you don't try to find Cato. He will lead you only to destruction." "Oh," she said sarcastically," and what would you have me do?" "Join the Jedi." I told her. Placing her hands on her hips, she said," I thought the the council was less than pleased with me." "They are." " And are you not included in the 'they' "I am not. As of right now, I am the only one willing to train you." "Well isn't that just gratifying." "Clove," I said sincerely," joining the Jedi could be a good thing for you. I know you're used to being valued for your talent, not for being yourself. I care about what happens to you, I do not want you going down a dark path." Clove looked at me, startled. We stood in silence for several minutes before she looked at me and said softly," fine, I will become a Jedi."
