F.T.C.

The pain was excruciating. It was a pain I had never felt before, and a pain I would never wish on anyone. My chest felt like it had both caved in and exploded all at the same time. I was struggling to breathe, and even though I knew I had some broken ribs, possibly a punctured lung, I knew that wasn't the reason.

She was gone.

My everything, my reason for living, my reason for breathing, she was gone. Ripped away from me by that bloodsucking psychopath. I tried to scream out in rage, but only managed to choke on the blood that had seeped into my airway.

"Jake, please, I need you to calm down. You have to rest if you want to heal." I heard a soft voice through my fog. But I didn't want to heal, I just wanted to die. But no, I couldn't, I had to find her, had to get to her, I had to go!

I struggled to sit up, I needed to go find her, but that only resulted in pain shooting through my body, and voices yelling at me to lay down.

"But….Bella…" I tried to say.

"Jacob, you have to heal. Then we can go find Bella. The guys are already out there looking for her. We'll find her." I heard Sam say.

I shook my head hard, I couldn't just wait to be healed, I had to find her, now!

"Jacob Black, calm down and be still." He said in his 'alpha' voice. I tried to tell him where he could go, but it just came out as a choked gurgle. The bastard chuckled.

"Sorry man, but it's for your own good. You can't look for her with two broken limbs and ribs. Give it a couple days and you'll be fine. Until then, the rest of the pack won't stop looking."

I turned back to where my leg was being wrapped, still unable to believe the sight before me.

Rachel.

Only, not the same Rachel. Not my sister, the one I had looked up to when I was little, fought with as I got older, and became a sister to my Bella. She had changed into something I could have never conceived of in my darkest nightmares.

She had become one of them.

She had yet to tell us everything, since she had shown up about the time everything went to hell at Bella's. All we knew, was that she wasn't human anymore.

She finally met my eyes, and gave me a tight smile.

Leah came in about that time with some little blue pills and a glass of water.

"Take them, or I will shove them down your throat myself." She said, grinning a hideously fake smile.

"Emmett...Rosa..." I tried speaking, but the inside of my throat was absolutely demolished.

"They had to leave," she said looking up at Rachel. "but they're out there looking for her." She looked at me seriously. "We will find her Jake."

I nodded my head and my vision started to blur, I knew the pills were kicking in already. I chanted Bella's name in my head until I finally passed out. I wanted her to hear, I wanted her to know that we were coming.

I would be coming. I would find her. And I would kill him.

LPOV

After we finally got Black knocked out, Sam, Billy, and I followed Rachel out onto the front porch.

"What's new Rach?" I asked sarcastically, earning a sharp jab from Sam, and a look from Billy. She just smirked.

"Leave it to you to make jokes about it." Rachel answered.

"Sweetheart, what happened?" Billy sounded so broken, and I felt horrible for him. First his son turns into this huge wolf, then his 'adoptive' daughter is stalked, then kidnapped by a leech, and now his other daughter has actually become a leech.

Sort of.

"Well, it was months ago. It was late, and I was leaving Riley's apartment. He was really wanting me to just stay over for the night, but I had class early. He was walking me out to the car, and it happened so fast. One minute I was just standing there talking to him, and the next, I hear him scream out, right before I felt the sharp pain hit me. We never saw anything, it was too fast, whatever or whoever it was. I kept hearing his screams, and maybe mine too, I honestly couldn't tell, but at some point everything went black."

"I don't understand." Sam interrupted. "You don't smell like a vampire. Don't get me wrong, you make me extremely uncomfortable, but it's not that I want to attack you. In fact, it's like you have no smell."

"That's the thing. I'm not a vampire. What I am goes against all laws of nature-"

"Yeah," I snorted, "pretty sure all of this goes against the laws of nature." I said, gesturing to all of us.

"True." She smirked. "I guess I mean to say that what I became goes against the laws of nature, as we know them."

"Ok, so what exactly are you." Sam asked point blank. She took a deep breath.

"I'm a hybrid.'

"A hybrid?" He asked, his tone laced with doubt. She just rolled her eyes.

"That's what I said, genius."

"So you didn't completely change then, you're still part human?" I said hopefully.

"Umm, not in the traditional sense, no. When I say hybrid, I mean part vamp, and-"

"Part wolf." Billy finished for her.

"Something like that, yeah." She smiled at her father.

We all sat there silently while we let this sink in. Finally Sam broke the silence.

"Do you drink blood?"

"Nope."

"Do you phase?"

"Yes, but not into a wolf."

Sam rubbed his hands over his face frustratingly. I didn't blame him, none of this made any sense.

"A hawk." Billy stated simply. Our heads swiveled to look at him, and Rachel grinned.

"Yes! How did you-"

"Your mother. She wasn't Quileute and her tribe's legends were of the great birds of protection; Hawks."

'No shit? Let me see!" I blurted without thinking, earning a swift kick from Sam.

"Ok, so you're a hybrid. Where exactly do you belong?" Sam asked, and while I don't think he meant it as heartless as it sounded, Rachel's face fell.

"Samuel Uley, have you lost your damn mind? She belongs here, this is her home!" Billy roared at him.

"I have to make sure she isn't a threat-"

"Yeah, she might peck your eyes out or something." I spat out at him. "She's just a bird! How much damage could she possibly do?"

"Excuse me? I'm sitting right here!" Rachel yelled out.

"She's also part leech, I have to consider-"

"Consider what? That I would sit here and have a civil conversation with you, biding my time before, what? Snapping your neck for no reason? I already told you, I don't drink blood!"

"Then what makes you a vampire?"

"Just because I don't doesn't mean I can't!" Everyone grew silent, and she took a breath to calm herself. "I crave it the way someone would crave a soda or a beer. I know it would taste good to me, but it's not worth a life. See, I don't have to have it. Oh, and also…." She rolled her sleeve up, revealing her arm. We just sat staring at her.

"Touch it idiots, it's not going to hurt you." She said, rolling her eyes. Sam and I both reached out. She was like stone. Rock hard skin, though not as pale, and she didn't seem very cold, though she definitely wasn't as warm as us.

"My heart doesn't beat, and of course, I don't bleed. But I can eat regular food." She shrugged her shoulders. "Some inside parts work, some don't I guess."

"Rachel," Billy said softly. "did you have to do this all on your own?" He asked sadly. She looked over at him and rested her hand on his with a small smile.

"Not for long. Since I was already clued in to other unnatural things that tend to gravitate towards our people, I isolated myself, until I ran into a Shaman. Well, I honestly think he was the one who found me, but he explained everything and helped me work on my phasing, and now everything is completely under control."

"Is there anything else we need to know?" Sam asked. Rachel turned to look at him, and her eyes went from happy and content, to sinister and deadly so quickly, I shivered involuntarily.

"Yeah. When I find the bastard that did this to me and Riley, I'm going to shred him into pieces. I will tear him apart slowly, inch by inch, and then I will burn each piece separately, letting him feel it the entire time. Then I'm going to lock his head in a box, after filling it with concrete, and drop him into the bottom of the Pacific, where he will do nothing but exist for all time. As long as their head is intact, they remain 'alive'. So he will remain that way until the end of time."

We all sat there, shocked into silence.

Sam just stared at her in both horror and awe. Billy stared at her for a minute, and then slowly backed his wheelchair up, and went inside. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.

"Leah, stop grinning."

"No way! That was fucking awesome! Can we also do that to the same nutjob that took Bella?"

"Oh definitely! And maybe you could add a little something to it too."

"You two are fucking psycho." Sam grumbled, standing up to leave.

"Whatever." Rachel said rolling her eyes. "Ok, I'm going to see if I can see them from the air. I wish I would have went to Bella's instead of here. I could have just followed them the whole time." She said angrily.

"Listen, you want to beat yourself up about Bella? Get in line. Otherwise shut up and start looking."

I followed her through the woods to where she would be able to phase. That was the only bad thing, it had to be away from prying eyes, and there had to be a big enough break in the trees for her to get up to the sky. She didn't need much, she said she only needed about a five foot opening.

"Alright Clearwater, you ready for this?"

She grinned proudly, and I couldn't help but smile back at me.

"Ready and waiting."

She just laughed as she started stripping. Gotta be honest, it was so nice to be looking at another girl for a change instead of another naked guy. I mean, the guys were in shape and everything, and Paul was amazing of course, I guess it just felt good to not be the only one with titties now. Well, not to mention, the girl looked damn good, her body was perfection, toned, not an ounce of fat on her, smooth and sculpted abs, perfect plump breasts that matched perfectly with her toned and perfectly shaped ass.

And then she was gone, and in her place stood the fiercest looking bird I had ever seen. And to be honest, it was terrifying. She stood over six feet tall, and was maybe three or four feet wide. I took a step back, and she cocked her head sharply to the side. It was so unexpected and goofy looking, I couldn't help but laugh. She did a small little wave with one of her wings, and then rocketed up toward the sky. The sudden wind from her wings knocked me to the ground, and I just watched in awe as she flew higher and higher.

I just prayed she would be able to find some sign of Bella.

FUCK. THIS. CHAPTER.

I have never struggled so much on one chapter, and I'm still not happy with it! I had a billion different scenarios that came to mind, and this was just some stray idea, that may have been a bad one. If this is garbage, please please please tell me. This is honestly the outcome of desperation. This isn't anywhere near what I wanted, but I needed to get something out because I don't want you to think I've given up, I'm just having serious issues the closer I get to the climax. If anyone wants to help, message me! Otherwise, give me your input, opinions, anything to guide me.

And if I'm going on about nothing and the chapter was awesome and jived perfectly with the rest of the story, and was a fun little twist of a surprise, then please ignore my self loathing and we'll all carry on.
