Disclaimer: This is a retelling of the events of the video game, SpongeBob SquarePants - Creature From the Krusty Krab. Basically, quite a bit of the original plot and dialogue is modified to make this tale feel more cohesive and less disjointed. After all, things just seemed to be mostly slapped together when it came to the narrative in the game; many of which seemed to never reach their full potential. Additionally: There's an added beginning part of the story here, as well as an all-new, definitive ending to make sure that everything flows more cohesively (so yes, this retelling will just have that new ending and no others, unlike the game). You should already know this if you played the game… but the chapters in it just end rather anticlimactically. And so, I wanted this to have a more effective overarching narrative than the original story. Oh yes, there might be something more to this than giant Plankton...

Obviously... I don't want events to be lazy and anticlimactic here, instead, I want good conclusions; especially when it comes to the ending, which for the game, was dependent on which character you used to beat Hypnotic Highway. I consider SpongeBob's ending to be the "canon" ending for the game, but even then, it doesn't really make itself out to be that good or logical. Man, that whole game was an acid trip that didn't make too much sense. I get that it took place in supposed dreams starring the three playable characters, but it doesn't change the fact that the game was BIZARRE. Anyway, the new narrative structure in this fan retelling should prove to be rather enjoyable with the added beginning and never-before known ending. Things will still be weird as hell though, since this IS Creature From the Krusty Krab. And yes, this version of the story will be more mature too. There's a T rating plastered on this for a reason. Not overly mature, but this isn't exactly something that a kid should read... just saying. Depictions of moderate violence are imminent here, you'll see most of that very violence later on when Plankton starts destroying Bikini Bottom in his dream. But, with all of that said: I present to you guys... SpongeBob SquarePants - Creature From the Krusty Krab: A Novel Retelling.

Chapter 1: A Sleepy Premonition

It was just a normal day for Bikini Bottom, the denizens of this town lived out their lives. However, for some: This would be their weirdest experience ever. One day, a mysterious figure in a hood came to town and met up with a few fish that we certainly know. The figure went to visit SpongeBob first, who was sitting on a chair in his pineapple.

SpongeBob: "Ah, Gary... isn't this such a great day?"

Gary: "Meow."

SpongeBob: "Whatever? Gary, things are all nice and happy. Hey, let's go outside, boy. We might be able to have some-"

Suddenly, SpongeBob heard a knock at the front door. It was funny, he wasn't expecting anyone to come to his house today. This left him confused, but curious at the same time.

SpongeBob: "Huh... wonder who that could be... I'll be back, Gary!"

Gary: "Meow?"

Gary witnessed SpongeBob open the door and that mysterious figure greeted the yellow sponge. For some reason, as soon as Gary saw this figure appear, he had a feeling that something was off here. The snail wanted to call out to his owner with a meow, but he needed to see what was going on. So, Gary watched this exchange unfold.

SpongeBob: "Hello? Who are you?"

?: "That doesn't really matter, I just wanted to give you this Krabby Patty. You love Krabby Patties, right?"

SpongeBob: "Yeah! How did you know?"

?: "*chuckle* It was just a hunch... Well, here you go."

SpongeBob: "Thanks!"

?: "I'll be on my way now, goodbye."

SpongeBob: "Bye, mister!"

SpongeBob happily waved to the figure before closing the door behind him. He walked back to the chair he was sitting in before. Gary then found an opportunity to grab SpongeBob's attention.

Gary: "Meow!"

SpongeBob: "Gare-Bear? What is it?"

Gary: "Meow, meow."

SpongeBob: "What do you mean, that was strange? What's so strange about being given a Krabby Patty for free? Besides, the guy sounded like he really knew that I loved Krabby Patties."

Gary: "Meeoow."

SpongeBob: "Pff. There's nothing to worry about here, this IS just a Krabby Patty. What harm could it do to eat it?"

Gary: "..."

SpongeBob: "Well, time to eat this."

SpongeBob ate the Krabby Patty, feeling satisfied with the taste. Seeing that nothing really happened, Gary went back to what he was doing before. Meanwhile, the mysterious figure paid a visit to Squidward's house. Instead of meeting the squid though, he decided to leave the next Krabby Patty in a bag for Squidward as he knocked on the door and hid. Squidward opened the door and noticed the bag.

Squidward: "Eh? What's this? ... A Krabby Patty? Well, I AM feeling kind of hungry at the moment... and I still like Krabby…"

Squidward remembered enjoying Krabby Patties from a while back, too much actually. However, he has learned to control his former addiction to Krabby Patties since then. He decided to take the bag inside and close the door behind him. After that, the mysterious figure came out from hiding and did the same for Patrick. Patrick was excited to find a Krabby Patty just showing up in front of his rock home.

Patrick: "Yippie! A free Krabby Patty! Om nom nom!"

Soon, the figure went to Mr. Krabs' home, as well as the Chum Bucket to continue the process.

Mr. Krabs: "Huh, what's in here? ... A Krabby Patty? Who put it here? … Oh well, it's free and I'll eat it!"

When Plankton noticed his share in front of the Chum Bucket (which was a small bit of a Krabby Patty), he felt rightfully skeptical at first.

Plankton: "What the...? What's a piece of a Krabby Patty doing here? And there's a note...? Something smells fishy, to say the least. … Uh... "Dear Sheldon J. Plankton, I'm someone who's been watching you for a while now. I know about your obsession with trying to get the Krabby Patty Secret Formula. However, this morsel is not to be used for extracting it. I simply want you to eat it for your enjoyment. Don't even think about trying to extract this morsel out, I'm always watching you. But, this morsel will help you take the formula soon after you eat it. You don't even need to lift a single finger!". Huh… … This whole thing sounds extremely bizarre, but if it's there to help me steal that formula, then I'm not complaining! Om nom nom!"

Plankton bit down on his morsel and enjoyed the taste, much like anyone else. A couple of minutes passed with nothing happening.

Plankton: "Heeey, what gives?! This note said that the morsel was supposed to help me steal the formula! So, why isn't it doing so?! Argh! ... ... Wh-what the...?"

Plankton felt odd all of a sudden, his vision began to blur before he fully realized what was happening to him. Plankton fell to the ground as he lost consciousness. SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs all began to feel tired after eating their Krabby Patties before they drifted to a very deep sleep. Gary noticed SpongeBob's unnatural time to fall asleep and tried to wake him back up, but to no avail. Karen, Plankton's computer wife, saw Plankton lying down on the ground just outside the Chum Bucket after a while of not seeing him return.

Karen: "*gasp* Plankton, what happened to you?!"

Plankton: "... … Krabby... Patties..."

Karen picked the sleeping plankton up with a robotic hand and carried him back inside the Chum Bucket. She softly rested him down on a table, and decided to extract some fluid from Plankton's body via a tiny syringe. Karen then started to perform some tests on the fluid to see what was in it. She knew for a fact her husband wouldn't just fall asleep in the middle of the day like that.

Karen: "Just what is this substance...? I have never seen anything like this before. Is it a drug of some sort?"

She kept testing the fluid with little to no success and sighed. All she knew at this point was that Plankton must have eaten part of a Krabby Patty that was drugged. She went back outside to investigate Plankton's sleep scene. It was then where she finally noticed the note that Plankton read. She looked over it and came to the conclusion that Plankton was foolish enough to believe what was said on it. She wondered why anyone would do this to Plankton. Sure, practically everyone else in Bikini Bottom hated him, but he was fine enough whenever he wasn't stealing the formula from Mr. Krabs. Just who would have a motive to do this to Plankton? Either way, it's not like Karen could do much now. All she could really do was wait for her husband to wake up. Little did she know that Plankton would be asleep for a long while.

Author's Notes: This has been the new beginning that kickstarts the narrative off. In the game, things kind of just immediately jump into the characters sleeping, at night, after eating Krabby Patties. And that's when it thrusts the player into SpongeBob's dream. Here though, I decided that the characters would fall asleep from eating Krabby Patties that have been drugged with an unknown substance. And, it's more than just SpongeBob, Patrick, and Plankton sleeping with dreams; enter Squidward and Mr. Krabs! They will both have their own unique dreams as well. As for what they'll be, well… you'll just have to find that out when this retelling gets to them. And these are just a couple of more notable differences compared to the original plotline. In case if you were wondering: Yes, there will be plenty of dialogue from the game in this retelling. This is so that the retelling stays at least somewhat faithful to the game. Anyway, our main five characters have been hit by the drug and fell asleep. This retelling's character dream order will be a bit different from the game, outside of the addition of both Squidward and Mr. Krabs' own dreams. Part of SpongeBob's dream is first, then part of Patrick's, part of Squidward's will be third, followed by part of Mr. Krabs, and Plankton's first part will be last before coming back to SpongeBob. That's how this version of the plotline will work for the most part. That is, until it goes beyond the giant Plankton part; things will be quite different after that.
