White Christmas

.i do not own yu-gi-oh!.

"Hopefully, it snows for Christmas this year," Yūgi hummed softly as she placed a plate with a sandwich and several handfuls of chips in front of her husband. She'd gotten home early from work; just in time to make her husband lunch. He kissed her wrist as she continued talking, his attention split between her, the food and his laptop. "The kids never got to see snow at all living in Cairo. I think it would be great for them to get to experience it now; especially on Christmas."

"I've been keeping up with the weather over the last few weeks," her husband answered after swallowing the chips he'd stuffed in his mouth. "They're not expecting snow at all next week, least of all on Christmas day. But then again, you know how Domino is. The weather is finicky at best. You never know what's going to happen; it could snow, it may not. The twins and Hikari will enjoy their Christmas with or without it, though."

Yūgi sighed, "I know, Yami. But I think it would be special for them to see snow for the first time, and on Christmas of all days for it to happen. The twins just turned eighteen a few days ago, Hikari will be sixteen in a few weeks and none of them have ever seen snow other than in pictures. We moved away to Cairo when the twins were only six months old. And Hikari was born there. Yuki, Hiyori and Hikari have ever only been to Domino during the summer when we'd come to visit everyone. Grandpa, Mom, Dad, Atem, Mana, Junior and Hiba would all come to Cairo during the Christmas season."

Yami chuckled, finally looking away from his computer to look up at his amethyst eyed wife. He took her hand in his own, pulling her into his lap to sit as his chin came to rest upon the crown of her head. His thumb stroked the delicate skin of her left hand, grazing over the wedding and engagement ring set that had found a home on her ring finger for the last twenty years. He still remembered the day they'd married like it was yesterday. "I know you have your heart set on having the kids see snow for the first time on Christmas, but there's no guarantee that it'll actually snow. But, it's not like it may not happen next year or even the year after that."

"But by then they will have seen it and it'll take away from the experience," Yūgi protested, pouting adorably at her husband who chuckled in return. "It's not funny, Yami. I'm serious here. It's bound to snow before the end of winter, and that will be the first time the kids see snow. It won't be anywhere near as special then as it would be if it were to happen on Christmas day."

"I know you're serious, honey," Yami said gently. "It's obvious that you're very serious about this. But, we can't control the weather. So, if it doesn't snow on Christmas, there's really not much that we can do to keep the twins from seeing it, other than moving back to Cairo for about a year or so then coming back right before Christmas. But, I don't think Mom and Dad or Atem and the others for that matter, would be too happy with us if we moved countries on them again. Especially since we've already found someone to head the Egyptian division of Sennen Corp., dear."

Yūgi blew a defeated breath, shaking her head lightly as she fiddled with the end of her sweater. He did have a point, they couldn't exactly control the weather, no matter how much she wanted to. And if their children were to see snow before or even after Christmas, there was absolutely nothing that she could do about it. And she was positive their children wouldn't care, either. They'd just be excited about seeing snow for the first time. "I suppose you're right. It'll be special for them to see snow no matter when it comes. I'm just still holding out hope that it comes on Christmas and not before or after."

Yami couldn't help chuckling as he glanced back at his computer when he heard it start to ring. It was a video call from his brother, probably about something related to the company. With a sigh, he released his wife from his hold. "I've got to take this. Might be something important that Atem needs to talk to me about. And it's time to go get the twins and Hikari, anyway."

Yūgi nodded, standing from his lap. "I'm going to go grocery shopping for dinner after I pick them up then we'll head home. Text me if you have a specific request. And... you may want to go ahead and answer that call, you know how your brother gets when you don't pick up right away."

Yami rolled his eyes as he pressed the answer button. "Don't remind me… what is it, Atem? Is there a problem? You don't video call unless there's a major problem."

"Hi Atem," Yūgi called out as she left the home office.

"Hey Yūgi," Atem greeted before immediately launching into why he'd called.

Yūgi didn't hear anything as she walked out of the home office, closing the door behind her. She had to go and pick her children up from school before heading to the grocery store. She quickly dawned her pea coat, scarf and gloves before pulling on her boots at the door. Her car keys were grabbed from the key rack before opening the door and stepping out into the chilly air of the mid-December day. She'd quickly crossed the driveway to her SUV; pressing the unlock button on the key fob before getting in and starting the vehicle. There was a quick text shot to her children, letting them know that she was on her way before she backed out of the driveway and took off towards their school.

As she drove, her phone began to ring. Pressing the button on the touch screen that was in her car, she answered over the blue tooth connection. "Hi Grandpa, how are you feeling?"

"Hi Yūgi, I'm feeling much better, thank you," her grandfather answered with a laugh. "I called to see what you were up to, today."

"Just going to pick the twins and Hikari up from school right now before going grocery shopping," Yūgi answered as she drove down the road towards Domino High School. "I have to pick up a few things for dinner tonight. Why, what's wrong Grandpa?"

"Does something have to be wrong for me to want to see my Granddaughter, Grandson-in-law and great grandchildren?" The elderly man said with a soft chuckle. Yūgi could hear rustling in the background. "I had planned to stop by a little later to see you all. You know I can't get enough of the twins and Hikari. I've missed out on most of their lives. There were only so many times I could make it to Cairo to see you all each year, you know. And you all only came during the summer to visit. Between running the game shop and my health, travel wasn't really an option for me."

Yūgi couldn't help the smile that crossed her features, "I know. If you would like, I can come get you after I've finished grocery shopping and you can have dinner with us tonight. I don't mind cooking for one more. Besides, it's been so long since Yami's seen you. He's missed you; you know?"

"Fantastic, I'll get myself ready to go then, see you in about an hour or two," he asked.

Yūgi figured he'd probably risen a brow when he asked. "Two hours at most. And pack a weekend bag. We'll put you up in the guest room for the weekend."

"Sounds great my dear," her grandfather said. "I'll see you soon."

The phone disconnected a second later and Yūgi quickly made her way to the high school.

Eighteen-year-old twins Yuki and Hiyori strapped their school bags over their shoulders, closing their lockers simultaneously before turning on their heels and making their way to the main entrance of the school. Their little sister waited for them at the end of the hallway, waving enthusiastically as they approached. Their mother had text Yuki to let them know that she was close by and would be there to pick them up within ten minutes. That had been seven minutes ago.

"So, do you think that we'll see snow for the first time on Christmas," Hikari asked her brother and sister as they made their way to the doors that led outside the school. They were officially on Winter recess and wouldn't have to return to school for the next three weeks which meant nothing but fun times ahead for the Sennen siblings. Especially since their parents would be taking all of the following week off from work due to Christmas. "I've seen pictures of it, and it's very pretty. But I want to see it in person! And I heard Mom talking to Dad about wanting the first time we saw snow to be on Christmas last night. She said it would be special."

"I think it would be cool to see snow for the first time any time, honestly," Yuki answered with a shrug. "I mean, it won't be any different if we saw it on Christmas or if we saw it tomorrow. We'd still see it. But, I guess snow on Christmas would be kinda special in a weird way. It'd be even more special if we were still little kids and not teenagers."

Hiyori shrugged; her brother did have a point there. If they were still small children, it would have been even more exciting for them. And while she was excited to see snow for the first time, she doubted she was as excited as she could possibly be if she had been younger. "I see your point there, but I still think it would be cool to see it for the first time. And I think Mom's more excited than anyone to see it."

Yuki chuckled as they exited the school just as their mother pulled to a stop in front of it. "You got that right. She's constantly checking her weather app to make sure that it's not going to snow. Dad says you never know with Domino though. This place is unpredictable as far as the weather goes."

"I think that would be a fun change though, considering in Cairo it was hot year around," Hiyori said as she reached for the back-passenger door. "I don't remember ever really having to wear a coat during December. It was always shorts and capris and a short-sleeved tee-shirt."

She, her sister and her brother hopped into the SUV, closing the doors behind them before strapping on their seat belts. Once they had done so, their mother put the SUV in drive and drove off again.

"What were you kids talking about," Yūgi asked as she glanced at her daughter in the rear view mirror.

"Just the weather," Hiyori answered. "I was comparing here to Cairo. I never had to wear a coat in December."

"It feels weird to do so," Hikari admitted with a laugh.

Yūgi laughed as she made a left, headed towards the grocery store. She still had to go shopping for that night's dinner, not to mention get some food for the weekend since her grandfather would be staying over. "Well, I'm glad that you at least didn't forget your coat this morning. Your father isn't exactly the best at remembering his coat himself, so I was concerned that the three of you would forget yours as well with him driving you to school instead of me."

"Hiyori actually had to remind dad to take his coat this morning," Yuki snickered. "He almost walked out the door without it if it hadn't been for her."

Yūgi shook her head, "That man. Thank you for reminding him, Hiyori. He's going to freeze his butt off one of these days if he doesn't get it together and start remembering to take his coat."

"He'll get there, Mom," Hiyori laughed. "That's why he has us. So… where we goin'? What are we doing this weekend?"

"Grandpa is coming to visit this weekend," Yūgi answered as she pulled into a parking space at the local grocery store. "We are going grocery shopping because we need food right now. Why do you ask?"

"Because Hiba wanted me to go with her to this show case concert thing tomorrow night," Hiyori answered as she, her brother and her mother stepped out of the SUV. "It's a bunch of local bands performing at that teen club downtown and she wanted to check them out together. Can I go?"

"I don't see why not," Yūgi answered as she pressed the lock button on the key fob as they headed for the entrance of the grocery store. "You'll have to talk to your Dad about it, though. You know how he is when it comes to you two, especially. You're his little girls and apparently you both look a little too much like me and he thinks everyone in the male populace is going to stop at nothing to get to you. He can be quite melodramatic sometimes, I'm sorry."

All three teens burst into a fit of laughter. It was no secret that Yami Sennen was the epitome of an overbearing parent. Hiyori had been asked to a formal dance when they'd still lived in Cairo by one of her classmates and made the mistake of telling her father about it. The man had done a full background check on the boy and his family, stating that he wanted to make sure his daughter wasn't going out with someone that could turn out to a stalker or worse. He'd scared the poor boy so bad when he'd come to the house to pick Hiyori up, it took literally all of Yūgi's effort to get him out of the room so that the two teens could escape her husband. Both Yūgi and Hiyori had apologized to the boy for Yami's behaviour, Hiyori explaining that her father was just overbearing. Needless to say, Hiyori hadn't been asked out since.

"Dad definitely is a drama king," Hiyori said shaking her head at the memory. "You'll have to be there with me to reason with your husband when he starts to flip his top about letting me go to that concert."

Yūgi laughed, glancing at her daughter over her shoulder. "Don't worry, Hiyori, I've got your back."

"Thanks Mom," Hiyori said smiling as they walked through the automatic doors of the grocery store.

Christmas Eve

"Hiyori, Yuki, Hikari," Yūgi called from the bottom of the steps. "Are you three ready to go yet? We're going to be late if you don't get your butts down here now."

"Here, Yūgi," Yami said, holding wife's coat opened for her to slip into. "I'll go load the crates into the truck. You four come out when the kids come down."

"Thank you," Yūgi said, kissing his cheek as she pulled her gloves from her coat pocket.

Yami simply nodded, passing by his wife to gather the crates of food she'd prepared. They were going to go out and feed the homeless, as well as donate blankets and tents for them to keep warm. They had gone out and bought over twenty thousand dollars' worth of heavy-duty blankets and tents for donating the weekend before after discussing it. After that, they would be taking gifts to the local orphanage. That had been Hiyori's idea.

"C'mon kids, your dad's already putting everything into the car," Yūgi called again. "We need to get a move on."

"Coming Mom," she heard Hiyori say before three pairs of feet came bounding down the stairs.

Yūgi took a moment to assess her children, making sure they'd dressed warmly before nodding her head. "You all look nice and warm. Yuki, can you go make sure that your father attached the trailer to the back of the truck. It has all of the blankets and things in it; that's the most important part."

"Sure Mom," Yuki said before heading to the door to do as he was asked.

"And the two of you, can you help me bring the last of the gifts for the kids at the orphanage out and put them in the trunk," Yūgi requested.

"Of course," Hiyori said as she and her sister each moved to grab several bags.

Together, the family loaded the rest of the gifts and food into the SUV before getting in. Yuki checked to make sure that the trailer was attached securely to the back of the family vehicle before they took off. The entire car ride was spent singing along to Christmas carols, the children talking about what they hoped was under the tree and Yami commenting on the possibility of snow early in the morning. Both he and Yūgi didn't miss the excited looks on the children's faces at the mention of snow. And silently, Yūgi prayed that the snow came to pass.

They spent hours handing out food, blankets and tents to those in need before heading over to the orphanage and dropping off the gifts with the administrators to pass out amongst the children that lived there the following morning before returning home with empty bellies and tired feet. Pizza was ordered and delivered, agreed on as the night's late dinner before the family of five gathered in the living room and turned on the twins' favourite Christmas movie; How the Grinch Stole Christmas after showers were had and pyjamas were donned. Once the movie was over, Yami glanced at the time on his phone.

"Well, kids, it's after midnight," Yami murmured thoughtfully as he stifled a yawn. "Would you like to uphold the Sennen tradition and open one gift tonight? Or do you want to wait until the morning?"

"I'm really tired, Dad," Hiyori said yawning. "I think I'd rather go to sleep and just open everything in the morning. Unless everyone else wants to, then I'll try to force myself to stay awake."

"Aww, sweet child, go to bed," Yūgi chuckled, tucking a strand of her daughter's hair behind her ear. "We'll wait to open the presents tomorrow. You three head up to bed, your father and I will clean up down here before we head to bed ourselves."

"Thanks Mom," Hiyori said, getting up from her seat.

Her brother and sister were quick to follow behind her, leaving their parents to watch them amble up the stairs tiredly. It'd been quite the day for the family of five. Between giving out food, blankets and tents to the homeless and donating gifts to the local orphanage, they'd had the quite the eventful day. It was no wonder all three of them were utterly exhausted.

"I think this Christmas adventure was a success," Yūgi hummed as she gathered the plates while her husband gathered the empty pizza boxes and soda cans. "I hope those children like the gifts that we bought for them. And everyone we gave tents, blankets and food to are keeping warm."

"I'm glad that we did it," Yami admitted. "We should make it an annual thing."

Yūgi nodded her agreement, "Yeah, I agree. Hiyori's idea to donate gifts to the orphanage was a nice touch as well. It feels good to give back to those less fortunate than we are. I also have not seen any indication of a snowstorm, though. Maybe we will get lucky and wake up to snow in the morning, though. You never know what could happen in Domino."

Yami chuckled as she dumped the dishes in the sink as he put the pizza boxes in the trash. Yūgi waved the dishes off, promising herself that she would do them in the morning when she woke up. Together, husband and wife made their way upstairs, peeking into each of the children's rooms, noting that they had all already passed out before retiring to their bedroom.

Nightly routines were quickly completed before both Yami and Yūgi crawled into bed together; the tri-colour haired woman snuggling up against her husband's chest.

"Goodnight, Yūgi," Yami whispered, his fingers strumming through her loose hair.

"Goodnight, Yami," Yūgi murmured before drifting off into sleep.

Yami chuckled, kissing his wife on the forehead before closing his eyes and slipping into a peaceful sleep as well.

.whitechristmas.

Yūgi woke the next morning, amethyst hues slowly adjusting to the natural light that filtered into she and her husband's bedroom through the curtains. Beside her, Yami turned over, his arm coming to rest across her abdomen, subconsciously pulling the woman closer to him. Yūgi laughed lightly, fingers dancing across his bare shoulder. At some point during the night, he had clearly gotten hot and taken off his pyjama shirt; something he seemed to be doing often. She could hear him grumble at her touch, somewhere between conscious and unconscious.

"C'mon Yami, time to wake up, dear," Yūgi coaxed gently as she snuck a glance at the alarm clock on her bedside table. "It's Christmas morning and I'm pretty sure the kids are already up by now, waiting for us to come down so that they can start opening gifts."

"It's too early," Yami groaned, trying to bury his face deeper in the pillow. The man was reluctant to wake up. "Thirty more minutes please."

"No sir, it's already after ten," Yūgi laughed, pinching his shoulder lightly. He yelped, jumping up at the touch. "Time to wake up. We have a big day ahead of us today. We must open gifts here, then we have to get ready to go to Grandpa's house for a bit. Not to mention stopping by to see Mom and Dad. Then, we have to head to Seto and Joey's house. Joey wants everyone over for dinner tonight, plus more gifts for everyone."

"Alright, alright, I'm up," Yami said before he yawned heavily, stretching his arms over his head. "Let's get the day started."

"That's my Yami," Yūgi giggled as she slipped from bed, pulling her house robe that hung from the bed post down and slipping it over her shoulders. She slipped on her slippers next, thankful for the warmth they provided. She and Yami made the bed quickly before the two were leaving their bedroom. "They're probably all sitting around the tree, waiting for us to come downstairs. Like they are every year."

Yami chuckled, nodding his head in agreement. Every year, the children were awake before they were and would patiently sit around the Christmas tree until he and Yūgi would come downstairs. And then the second they saw their parents, they rushed over; pushing them towards the tree so that they could get started with opening the gifts. Yami and Yūgi would sit back and watch as they tore through the boxes that sat beneath the tree, excitement painting their faces. And it hadn't changed no matter how old they got, not that either parent really minded.

When the couple stepped off the staircase, they were greeted by the sight of the twins and Hikari nestled on the couch together, watching a Christmas program that had been on. When they heard their parents come downstairs, they turned, grinning brightly.

"Morning Mom, morning Dad," Hiyori greeted. "We wondered when you guys were going to wake up. We've been up for the last two hours waiting for you."

"Told you they were already up," Yūgi chuckled, picking up the remote to mute the television. "Your father wanted thirty more minutes, but I managed to get him out of bed before that so you three didn't have to wait any longer to open your gifts."

"Dad always wants thirty more minutes," Yuki chuckled, sticking his tongue out at his father who had blown him a raspberry first.

"Alright you two, that's enough," Yūgi laughed as she made her way over to one of the lounge chairs that decorated their living room. "Let's get started, I know you all are dying to open your gifts."

"Yes," Hikari said, jumping up from the couch and making her way over to the tree.

Hiyori and Yuki followed, each pulling out one of their gifts before sitting in a circle, waiting for their parents to pull their cellphones out so that they could snap photos and take videos as they normally did.

"Whenever you're ready," Yūgi encouraged them, setting her phone camera to video so that she could record them opening their gifts.

"Hikari, you go first since you're the youngest," Hiyori offered to which her sister nodded.

The teen turned the box she held on it's side, ripping the paper away to reveal a brand-new MacBook Pro laptop; just what she'd been asking for since they'd moved to Domino earlier that year. She beamed at her parents, placing the box down carefully before going to hug them. "Thank you Mom and Dad! I love it."

"Now you have a new laptop to do your schoolwork," Yūgi laughed as she patted her daughter's back. "I don't' want to hear any fussing about you having to sit at the desk to do it now."

"What your mother said," Yami agreed with a laugh before the girl released them and went to join the twins again on the floor again. Yami nodded for Hiyori to open her gift next. "Go ahead Hiyori."

She didn't need to be told twice, ripping away the paper from the gift she held, revealing a brand-new iPhone 11 Pro Max. She had been asking for one since September when they were released, and both her mother and father had kept telling her no. Little had she known, they were already planning to get not only herself, but her brother and sister one for Christmas.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you," Hiyori chirped as she danced around on the floor, clutching the phone to her chest. "I can't wait to play with my new phone!" She then turned to her brother, who was waiting patiently for her to calm down so that he could open his own gift. "Your turn, Yuki!"

"I thought you'd never calm down enough for me to open it," Yuki teased, earning an elbow to the side. "Ow, that actually hurt, Hiyori."

"Serves you right," Hiyori sniffed.

"That's enough you two," Yami chided gently. "Go ahead and open your gift, Yuki."

Yuki did, before practically throwing a fit the way his sister had when the gift revealed the new iPhone. The next hour was spent opening the rest of the gifts that remained under the tree for them before the family of five set to cleaning up the paper that littered the floor. After the living room had been cleaned up, the children took their gifts upstairs while Yūgi set to work on breakfast. She'd informed them that they would eat first before getting ready to head over to her Grandfather's home. From there, they would visit Yami's parents before ending the day at Seto and Joey's home with everyone.

There still had been no sign of snowfall and Yūgi was beginning to lose hope that the children would see it for the first time on Christmas. Yami noticed some of her giddiness had diminished once the kids had gone upstairs to put their things away. His hand found it's way to her shoulder, catching the amethyst eyed woman's attention.

"What's on your mind," Yami asked, irking a brow.

"Nothing really," Yūgi answered with a shrug. "Just a little disappointed that it hasn't snowed yet. And it probably won't snow at all today, so the twins and Hikari won't get to see it for the first time on Christmas. That's all. I'm okay, I promise."

"Well, the day is still young," Yami offered, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "It could snow at any time. Look at the clouds. Looks like a storm is coming soon. So, you could still get your wish." He pulled away again, offering a light smile. "Don't worry so much. Your children will start to worry if they see you looking dejected like that."

Yūgi rolled her eyes, smiling lightly before swatting her husband away. "Go set the table please, breakfast will be ready soon."

"Of course, dear," Yami chuckled, moving to grab the dishes to set the table.

The children returned just as breakfast was finished, each dressed for the day having taken showers the night before when they'd gotten home from their outing. Each took a seat at the table while their father helped their mother bring the food over to the table. They ate, the kids expressing their thanks once again to their parents for all the gifts they'd gotten. Yami joked that most of the gifts were all Yūgi's idea until she pointed out that he'd been the one to pick out most of the presents they'd gotten. After breakfast, the kids cleaned up the kitchen while their parents went to get dressed before locking up and leaving the house.

Their first stop was Yūgi's Grandfather's house. When they arrived, the elderly man was sitting on the porch, enjoying a cup of coffee. He smiled and waved when he saw the family vehicle pull to a stop and the family of five exited the SUV.

"Merry Christmas, Grandpa," Yūgi greeted as Yami grabbed the gifts they'd gotten the old man from the trunk of the car.

"Merry Christmas everyone," Sugoroku returned with a smile.

Hiyori was the first to hug her great-grandfather, pressing a kiss to his cheek before he released her to move on to his great-grandson then his other great-granddaughter. By the time Yūgi and Yami made it to him, he'd already sent the children inside before hugging his granddaughter and his grandson-in-law.

"I see you got them all those phones," Sugoroku laughed, taking the boxes from Yami before he turned to head into the house that doubled as a game shop. "I know they've all been asking for them for months."

"It was actually Yami's idea," Yūgi laughed as they followed him into her childhood home. She had so many fond memories of Holidays spent there. Some with Yami, a few with her parents but most with her grandfather. "The twins and Hikari had been asking for those phones since they'd come out and saw that we had them and they'd been doing good all year so, we figured we'd reward them."

"Reminds me of when you were a little girl and you wanted that one toy for months because all your friends had it," Sugoroku chuckled, placing the boxes down on the coffee table.

"I know what you're talking about," Yūgi laughed, recalling the memory. "Well, open up. We have an hour or so to spend here before we head over to Mom and Dad's."

.whitechristmas.

After spending time with her grandfather and opening the gifts he'd bought for them, Yami, Yūgi and the children headed to Yami's parent's home. Their visit lasted two hours, Aknamkanon and Izumi smothering their grandchildren and children with love before they left for Seto and Joey's house. When they arrived, they were greeted by a driveway full of cars, letting them know that everyone else had already made it there.

"Looks like we're the last to get here," Yami commented as he put the SUV in park and cut the ignition. He nodded to his brother's SUV that was parked in the large driveway. "Let's get inside before Joey has a heart attack and starts thinking we're not coming."

"I'm surprised she hasn't called one of us yet," Yūgi laughed as they exited the vehicle.

Yami went to grab the bags that held the gifts they'd gotten for everyone else before the family of five made their way to the front door. Yūgi knocked, taking a step back when she heard someone running for the door. A second later, it opened to reveal Seto and Joey's son, Masato.

"Aunt Yūgi, Uncle Yami, you guys made it," Masato said, grinning brightly as he stepped to the side to allow them in. "C'mon in, everyone's waiting in the great room."

"Thank you, Masato," Yūgi hummed as she stepped in first, followed by the children, then Yami.

Masato closed and locked the door after Yami stepped in, offering to take their coats before leading them to the great room where everyone else waited. Joey was the first to greet them when they walked in.

"Its about time you all made it here. I was getting concerned," Joey said, hugging her best friend before moving on to hug Yami then the kids. "What took you all so long?"

"We stopped to see Grandpa and Yami's parents first," Yūgi said, hugging everyone who had stood to hug her.

"Why didn't Grandpa come," Mana asked, irking a brow. "It's been so long since I last saw him."

"He's having trouble with his back again and didn't want to be a burden to us while we're all having fun," Yūgi answered, taking a seat beside her sister-in-law. "He does send his holiday greetings though."

"We'll have to make a trip out to see him soon," Atem promised. "But for now, I think it's time that we enjoy this party, don't you think?"

"I couldn't agree more," Yami hummed.

For the next few hours, everyone enjoyed each other's company, opening gifts and singing carols (some more off key than others) before the night drew to a close. As everyone was getting ready to pack up and leave for the evening, Hikari happened to glance out the window and see a white powdery substance falling from the sky. She blinked, turning to wave the twins over to look as well.

"Yuki, Hiyori, look," Hikari said, jabbing her finger against the window.

"Oh wow, is that…" Yuki started, trailing off as his twin sister picked up where he'd left off.

"Snow," Hiyori breathed, eyes wide.

Yūgi heard the surprise in their voices, her head turning to glance at them. "Kids, what are you doing?"

"Mom," Hikari said, waving her mother over, "Come look. It's snow. It's actually snowing!"

Yūgi walked over, glancing out the window to see what they'd been talking about. And the moment she did, she was met with the sight of a fresh layer of snow, making it's home on the ground around the house. Yami walked over, placing a hand on Yūgi's shoulder as he too stared at the snow that continued to fall in abundance.

"Can we go out and play in it, Mom," Hiyori asked, amethyst eyes wide with hope.

Yūgi couldn't help the smile that crossed her lips. "I don't see why not. You kids go have fun, your father and I will pack everything up."

"Yes," all three teens chimed in unison before running to grab their coats and boots before heading outside.

"They're mighty excited about the snow," Joey laughed. "Guess that's what happens when this is your first time ever seeing it."

"They'll get tired of it eventually, once they've seen it enough," Mahad chuckled.

"We all did," Ishizu snickered.

"Looks like you got your wish, Yūgi," Yami hummed, his arm wrapped around his wife's waist. Together the two watched as their almost adult children pranced around in the snow, throwing it at one another as they laughed. "The kids got to see snow for the first time on Christmas."

"Sure did, and they love it," Yūgi said before she turned to glance at him. "It was definitely a very merry Christmas."
