It had been nearly two days since I had woke up, and I hadn't stopped running since. The feel of the pull was astounding, it felt so physical, so much more than mental or emotional. And anytime I made a wrong turn, it pulled me back quickly, as if there were reins attached to my head and heart. The rest of the pack stayed right with me, and although I was sure they were exhausted, once they knew I was on a clear trail, I never heard one complaint. And of course the two vamps had no problem keeping pace.

Rachel had been trying to keep ahead of us, staying high to find any sign of a remote house. We were pretty far out, away from civilization, causing me to wonder how he even found the place to begin with. We were a couple hours from the second sunset when I heard Rachel's hawk screech out a few miles ahead.

'I can see it! That's gotta be it! It's about ten miles ahead, but there's about twenty-some leeches out around the perimeter waiting to catch us.'

'Circle around and see if you can see if there is a break, or a more concentrated number in one spot.' I directed her, then turned my attention to the rest of the pack. 'Alright guys, Rachel said we're not too far, but they've got the place surrounded. She's gone on up to see if she see any strong or weak spots. She says there's about fifty. Seth, phase back to tell Emmett and Rosalie, then catch back up with us asap.'

'Jake, if there is a weak spot, you go through and we'll hit the other side. They don't know how many of us there are, if they see us all coming from one side, they'll all come there to attack. That will leave you free to get in and get her, but do it fast. You have to get to her before they have a chance to realize what we're doing. Who knows what desperation will lead them to do.'

I knew he was right. Sudden thoughts of her death, or them turning her shot through my mind, causing vicious growls to erupt throughout the pack.

'I swear Black, if you don't tear them to pieces, I'll tear you to pieces.' Leah ground out.

'Hell hath no fury.' Paul stated proudly.

We were getting close, I heard another screech from Rachel, and then I heard what sounded like talons being dragged against a rough surface.

'Jake, head west about half a mile, then north for another half, then east, there's a wide gap there. The thickest part is straight ahead, fifteen altogether, with another ten spread on both sides. They're expecting you.' She instructed me.

I couldn't move fast enough.

I took off to my left, and followed the directions Rachel had given me. I could hear the battle start up, and was watching through the pack's mind. The demons were all red eyed and stronger than we had anticipated, but we had an advantage they didn't. We were fueled by an intense rage and determination, as well as a deep desperation to get to the one we loved, and kill the ones that took her.

As I turned toward the direction of the house, I heard a gunshot ring out, and my heart froze. I hadn't heard any howls or screams, but why would vampires have a gun? I felt a strong mix of fear and determination, followed by the sound of glass shattering shortly after that. The smell of Bella's blood hit me hard and a howled loudly. I felt the relief and hope from her and smiled a little to myself. She knew I was here. But then I realized everything I was feeling from her was fading, and I could feel her weakness.

She was dying.

I roared out, breaking through the trees to see that leech sucking her dry. I slammed into him, knocking him far away from her, and stood over her body protectively. Her heartbeat was faint, but still there, and all I could do was hope she would be strong enough to heal herself.

He flew into the side of the house, crushing some of the bricks, and flipped over quickly, facing me with a feral growl. I roared out at him, but didn't move toward him. There was no way I was going to move from my spot over Bella. I was silently willing him to come to me so I could kill him. When he didn't move, I decided to feign distraction and looked down at Bella, and he took the bait.

He ran at me, but instead of getting a hit in on me, I raised my face to him at the last second, and clenched my jaws around his body, hearing and feeling the satisfying crunch of his body. The only thing that stopped me, was the 'click' of the hammer of a gun being pulled back.

"Put him down. Now." The smooth voice behind me demanded.

I slowly turned my head, and saw the blond male standing about fifty feet away, pointing the gun directly at my head. I wanted to scream at him that he was a coward, but it didn't matter now. It's not like my life or Bella's would be spared if I let the vamp between my teeth go, the other one was going to kill me regardless. He just wanted his precious 'son' to be spared.

Not. Going. To happen.

I crunched down hard on the body in my jaws, tasting the foul venom leaking from his body, satisfied from the painful screams coming from it, and the angry roar from the other, followed by the firing of his gun multiple times. I braced for the hits, but they never came. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw the reason.

A very large, very angry Emmett stood in front of me, his fists held out to the side. He slowly opened them, dropping the bullets he had caught onto the ground.

"A gun? Really?" Emmett growled out.

"Emmett, stand down. This is not your fight."

"Oh hell yes it is. She is my family, and you attacked her." His voice was quiet and deadly.

"She is food Emmett! This is what she was made for!"

I shook my head hard, tearing the leech apart even more, pieces of him flying apart, before spitting him out, broken, onto the ground.

"What happened to you?" Emmett asked the other one disgustedly. "You were the one who taught us that human life was precious, you taught us to not give in to our natural temptation."

"Oh Emmett, please stop being so over-dramatic. Obviously this is an extenuating circumstance. She's his singer after all. You remember what that was like." His lips curved up in an evil smile. Emmett tensed in front of me, but stayed silent as the blond continued.

"Now wouldn't it had been better if your singer had been able to survive, instead of being massacred by a feral vampire." Emmett growled at this. "How good would it have been to live off of her blood for decades?"

"You are a psychopath."

"No, I'm a genius. How many of our kind would die to experience their singer's blood for an entire lifetime? We are stuck in this perpetual life for eternity, we might as well enjoy it as much as we can. Besides, what's one human life when you look at the big picture?"

And without warning, Emmett lunged for the blond, taking him by surprise, and plunging them both into the dark woods behind them. I turned to see the macabre leftovers of the younger leech, trying his best to crawl toward where I was crouched over Bella. His body was twisted and broken, limbs tore off at different places, one eye hanging out of it's socket, his jaw unhinged on one side, flopping around at his movement, causing his tongue to hang loosely. He was moaning, attempting to talk, but unable to because of his broken mouth. I noticed one of his limp fingers snap back into itself and realized he was slowly healing.

'Fire! I need fire, now!' I growled out. I felt Leah phase back to human, and not a minute later, Rosalie came running up, pulling a lighter out of her pocket.

"That is one nasty motherfucker." She said with a snarl, upon seeing the state of the mangled vamp. She dropped it on him without hesitation, and with a garbled scream he was engulfed in flames, with the venom acting as an accelerant.

I snorted at the irony of their 'blood' reacting in such a way to fire.

"Oh God, Bella!" Rosalie said, rushing toward Bella. I growled involuntarily at the sudden movement, but slowly backed away from her body when Rosalie lifted her hands in surrender to me. "Please Jake, we need to get her some help."

I started pacing nervously beside her body. Her temperature was low, and her heartbeat seemed to be slowing. I felt panic hit me suddenly. We were so far out, how could we even find a hospital? And would we even make it in time?

Rosalie disappeared quickly into the house, and returned not a minute later.

"We need to get her inside. It looks like he has everything we need in there." She said quickly. I growled at the thought of her being back in that place.

"Jake, listen to me." Rosalie said firmly. "She doesn't have much longer, and there's no way we can get her anywhere in time. I don't even know where we are."

I phased back human, knowing she was right, but I also knew I wouldn't be leaving her side. I picked her up gently, cringing at how cool and light her body felt.

I followed Rosalie into the house and up the stairs. She pointed to one of the rooms.

"Take her in there, I'll see if I can round up some more fluids." She said before disappearing again.

I stepped into the room and had to choke down the bile that rose up in my throat.

It was the replica that I had heard about, that she had had the nightmares about. Everything that had been missing from her room was set up here like some sick stage for her.

As much as I hated to, I laid her down on her bed. I saw the IV stands that were already set up by the bed, and I could feel the heat of rage shoot through me. I knew those had been what was keeping her alive while he was feeding from her. What had been keeping her sedated and unconscious, and keeping me from getting to her sooner. I started shaking as all the fear I had felt, and she had expressed to me before, rewound itself through my mind.

"Easy Jake, she's safe now, remember? They're gone." Rosalie said softly, entering the room from behind me. I calmed myself and forced myself to stop shaking as she went about hooking her up to the various IV's. After a few minutes she stepped back.

"OK, that's about all we can do. Now we just have to hope and pray it's enough."

"How do you know how to do all this?"

"You don't live with a doctor for a hundred years and not take away a thing or two." She smirked. "Oh, and you need to keep her warm too. Body heat will help the healing process."

"What about blood, doesn't she need an infusion or something?"

"We'll wait and see if her body will start producing any itself. If not, then we'll see what our options are. It's not like we have extra blood lying around."

"Couldn't you use mine?"

"You can't just mix blood like that, it has to match."

"In normal humans, yeah, but we're not normal."

"Yeah, but she's closer to normal than you. Let's just see if her body heals itself. If not, we can look into another alternative."

I just nodded. I was desperate to try anything to get her better. I knew she was right though, we couldn't just start throwing random blood in her. I crawled up beside her and carefully wrapped my body around hers, silently begging her to wake up.

Not enough apologies in the world to make up for being MIA for 3 months. I just hope everyone didn't give up on me.

Any and all opinions and input are more than welcome.

Oh, and with Rachel and Jacob, when they are in their animal form, they can talk to each other, but only Jacob can hear Rachel, the rest of the pack doesn't have that mental connection with her since she's 'another species', but Jacob does since they share the same bloodline.

Is it getting too crazy?
