Is the poor mute cebu successful in communicating the imminent danger to the other passengers?
The mute cebu waved his arms wildly as the hippo came barreling towards the canoe. The other passengers sat in complete ignorance as the canoe began to wobble back and forth from Mute Cebu's thrashing. Sick Cebu looked up as the canoe rocked and took notice of Mute Cebu's waving arms and impatient grunting. He was just about to ask what the matter was when he broke out into a sneezing fit. Sick Cebu's sneezing drowned out the grunting of Mute Cebu, so neither Sad Cebu nor the boy noticed his warnings. Mute Cebu was getting desperate and knew that he had to do something or they would all be destroyed by the angry hippo. Mute Cebu made a split second decision and began paddling faster toward the hippo. The hippos eyes went wide as it noticed the canoe was moving towards it at a breakneck speed. Mute Cebu paddled with the strength of ten cebus as he sped towards the hippo. Just before the canoe smashed into the hippo, Mute Cebu plunged his oar into the shallow water. The speed he had built up allowed Mute Cebu to use his oar to vault himself and the canoe with its passengers over the hippo. The hippo watched in awe as the canoe sailed over its head. As they flew through the air, Mute Cebu realized the flaw in his plan: because the water was shallow, the canoe would shatter when it landed back in the river. Mute Cebu covered his eyes as the canoe sailed through the air. Meanwhile, Sick Cebu stopped sneezing long enough to see that they were no longer in the river. He looked over the side of the canoe and watched the water pass by far beneath the canoe. He looked up and saw Mute Cebu covering his eyes. Sick Cebu realized the danger and began screaming hysterically. This woke the boy who had been oblivious to the whole situation. He yawned and stretched as he woke from his nap. He then focused on the cebus in front of him. Sad Cebu was still crying. Sick Cebu was screaming, and Mute Cebu was covering his eyes in terror. The boy looked over the edge of the canoe just as it plunged back into the water. Water splashed up over the whole canoe and the passengers were completely doused. The canoe shattered upon impact with the bottom of the river. The waves settled down and the water calmed back down to the gentle flow the river had before. Three heads burst out of the water. The sick and sad cebus yelled at the mute cebu for unnecessarily vaulting the canoe. Their argument was interrupted when the three cebus realized that there was somebody missing.
