Chapter 2: Wildest Dreams

October 29th 1997

"Why do I have to stay at Bobby's this weekend?" Lyanna frowned glancing over at her Mother, Vanessa, from the passengers side, "It's my thirteenth birthday and I have to spend it with a retired hunter and his dog." she huffed, folding her arms over her chest

Vanessa let out a little laugh, "We'll do something really fun when I get home okay? I'll make it up to you." she promised, "Plus I know Bobby let's you get away with murder whenever you're there, so don't act like you have it so bad." she added with a look

Lyanna continued to frown as they pulled up to Bobby Singer's house. Her Mom was going out of town for a few days, something to do with helping a group of hunters in New York. If Lyanna was older she's sure her Mom would have let her tag along, but as Vanessa always said, no hunting until you're sixteen. Three more years and she'd be considered helpful instead of a nuisance. When they pulled into the driveway there was a black Impala sitting near the back of the house, Lyanna had never seen it before but it looked in mint condition, she wondered if Bobby was selling it.

Lyanna followed Vanessa out of the car and up to the door, "Bobby?" Vanessa called as she entered the house, dragging Lyanna behind her "Your favourite pet is here." she laughed, as they wandered into the kitchen where Bobby was sitting at the table with a man who looked to be about Vanessa's age, dark hair, worn out features. He must be another hunter, Lyanna thought.

"Hey Vanessa." Bobby smiled, nodding to Lyanna's Mom, "This is John Winchester." he added, introducing the other man

"Oh, hello." Vanessa smiled, "I've heard a lot about you." she added

"And I've heard about you." John nodded, "The witch who helps hunters." he grinned

"Hey, not all of us curse castles and eat children." Vanessa joked, pushing Lyanna in front of her, "This is my daughter, Lyanna. She's gonna be staying with Bobby while I'm in New York for a few days." Vanessa smiled

Lyanna gave a slight nod to the older man "Hello." she said politely

John gave a sincere smile, "Well at least my boys will have someone to hang around with." he said, then he glanced at Vanessa "I have a hunting trip myself and I don't want the boys around for this one." he added

"Thanks for making me the designated babysitter for hunters, guys." Bobby frowned, "I swear if any of you three get into trouble I'm not babysitting anymore." he added, giving Lyanna a look

"Dean, Sam, get your butts in here." John called looking to the living room as two boys came walking in. One was shorter, looked to be about Lyanna's age with shaggy brown hair and a soft face with puppy dog hazel eyes, the other looked a bit older and had short brown hair with piercing green eyes and a very charming face, "These are my boys, Sam, he's fourteen, and Dean, he's eighteen." John added, introducing the boys

Vanessa smiled at the boys and placed her hands on Lyanna's shoulders, "This is Lyanna, and it's actually her thirteenth birthday this weekend." she said, "Maybe you guys could have a little party, I'm sure Bobby wouldn't mind?" she laughed, tossing Bobby a few twenties and throwing him a wink

"I'm actually a pretty good baker." Lyanna smiled glancing shyly at the boys, "I could teach you guys how…" she suggested, as the adults went into the other room

"Is your Mom a hunter too?" Sam asked as he helped Lyanna get stuff out of the fridge

Lyanna shook her head, "No.. she's actually..a witch." she replied

"Really?" Dean said, raising an eyebrow, "So does that make you one too?" he asked, leaning against the counter with his arms across his chest

"Yes. I'm not really that powerful yet, but I'm learning." Lyanna replied, feeling a bit judged by Dean's tone

Dean scoffed, "Great, so now we gotta be friends with the enemy." he frowned, "Dude this sucks." he said, "I get why you gotta stay Sammy, but I don't know why Dad thinks I gotta stick with the lollipop guild, you kids have fun making your cake, I'm going upstairs." he muttered leaving the kitchen quickly

Sam sighed as he watched Dean leave, "Don't mind him. It's not you he's mad at. It's our Dad."

After their parents had left Sam and Lyanna had continued to bake a chocolate cake and decorate it, Bobby ordered the kids pizza and told them they could have a sleepover in the living room and watch movies all night.

Despite having to be away from her friends, Lyanna was having a really good time with Sam who she clicked with right away, Dean however was still sulking about having to stay with the 'kids'

"Would you like a piece of cake, Dean?" Lyanna asked, walking into the living room with the cake platter and sitting down on the blankets her and Sam had laid down "It's double chocolate." she added with a grin

"C'mon Dean, you're stuck here you might as well try to have a good time." Sam shrugged, "We'll even let you pick the movie.." he bribed, tossing Dean the remote

Dean rolled his eyes, but took the remote and put Gremlins on the TV, "How old are you again?" he asked, looking at Lyanna

"Thirteen tomorrow." Lyanna replied, as she glanced at the clock "Actually, it's after midnight...so I guess I'm officially a teen." she smiled

Dean stood up and checked the stairs to see if Bobby's light was off, which it was, then he disappeared into the kitchen, returning a few minutes later with three beers from the fridge, handing one to Sam and to Lyanna

Lyanna frowned, "I can't drink this." she said, trying to push it back in Dean's hand

Dean smirked and shook his head "We had our first beers at thirteen." he shrugged, "Think of it as a new tradition, with new friends." he added, clinking his beer against hers, "Happy Birthday, Lya." he smiled, elbowing her and sitting between her and Sam as they watched the movie, ate cake and drank their beers. It was the first of many nights like these in Lyanna's teenage years.

Lyanna bolted up as her alarm went off on her phone. It was 6:45. She hadn't dreamt of the Winchesters in years, let alone dreamt about their first meeting, the memory made her smile as she climbed out of bed and made her way to the shower.

After a quick shower Lyanna headed downstairs to find something to eat, Bobby was already up making coffee, "How'd you sleep?" he asked, handing Lyanna a coffee just the way she liked it, black with two sugars

"Actually pretty well." Lyanna smiled, "Where're the boys?" she asked noticing the house was quiet

"They went to grab some breakfast. Dean told me to make sure you were ready by the time they got back." Bobby replied as he sat down across from Lyanna, "Hey, I don't have to tell you to be careful do I?" he asked, concern showing in the older man's eyes

"I'll be extra careful, Bobby." Lyanna nodded, "I've missed you." she added, squeezing his hand gently

Dean and Sam came into the kitchen a few minutes later and Dean handed Lyanna a bagel, "Eat this quickly then we gotta go." he said, before disappearing out of the room

Lyanna looked at Sam then at the bagel and started eating, "So is he gonna be snippy this whole trip?" she asked

Sam gave a little smile "Probably." he said, "You know how he is, mask all his feelings behind his gruffness." he laughed

Lyanna gave a small chuckle as she finished her coffee and bagel, "Alright I'm just gonna grab my bag and then we can go." she said, running up the stairs bumping straight into Dean, "Sorry!" she frowned

Dean steadied her, "Still clumsy I see." he commented

"Well if I wasn't being rushed I wouldn't be running." Lyanna countered narrowing her eyes as he followed her up to her room, "Dean, I can manage getting my bag." she sighed

"I'm aware of that." Dean laughed, "Look, I just wanted to say, let's not drag up the past. And let's just get through these next few months, ok?" he said, "The sooner you get your answers the sooner you can go." he added, leaving Lyanna alone in her room.

Lyanna sighed and shook her head, she was going to get whiplash with the way Dean was acting, one minute he was being perfectly normal the next it was as if he hated her. She trudged down the stairs hollered a goodbye to Bobby and slid into the backseat of the Impala where the boys were waiting.

Dean glanced at Lyanna in the rear view mirror as she settled into the backseat, "You still like classic rock right?" he asked

Lyanna blinked as she looked up, "Of course." she said like it was the most obvious thing in the world

Sam glanced at his brother then rolled his eyes "Why are you so annoying about your music?" he asked, "Other music can be good." he said

Dean scoffed and shook his head "Well that may be, but in this car it's classic rock or nothing." he replied, turning up the radio

"Hey," Lyanna started, "So I had a dream about you guys last night." she smiled

"Oh, we don't need to know about your kinky fantasies Lyanna." Dean smirked with a laugh

Lyanna frowned and smacked his shoulder "No you dumbass, it was the night we first met." she smiled

Sam glanced back at her, "Oh yeah, I remember that. You taught me how to make a cake." he smiled

Dean seemed lost in thought for a moment then he let a genuine smile break across his face, "Your first beer." he said, eyeing Lyanna in the mirror "The beginning of my corruption." he laughed, "Ah, you were so innocent back then." he reminisced

Lyanna gave a small smile, "We all were if you think about it." she said, then she grew quiet as she remembered more nights like that with Dean as she grew older and her heart broke a little at the memories.

Sam cleared his throat to break the tension that had fallen over the car, "Okay." he said, glancing at the paper on his lap, "So, Concrete, Washington… it seems like there's some giant bear like creature causing mayhem, let's start with that well talk to the local police and go from there.." he said

"Are we sure this is a case?" Dean asked skeptically

"Bobby said it was." Sam shrugged

"If it isn't can we do some sightseeing?" Lyanna piped up from the backseat, "I've never been to Washington." she added, checking over her bag for supplies. The boys bickered back and forth, while an AC/DC song blared out of the radio, and Lyanna realized just how much she'd missed this life with the Winchester brothers. She was actually kind of glad to be hunting again, and that was something she never thought she'd miss.
