AN: Before I get into this story, I have a legit question for all of you. You see several people have been asking about Burst mode and if the Data Defenders are going to reach that stage. However the problem is Palmon and Lalamon can both access Rosemon as part of their mega forms. Being I do want to be partially true to Tri, I do want to give Palmon her own Mega Form like in canon. So I had an idea, being I despise Lotusmon, BanchoLillimon. Now who might that be you ask? Well, she's from the same group as Bancholeomon and is a mega Digimon that can only digivolve from Lilymon. Basically, she's a Lilymon with black/ punk flower themed outfit, with the weapon of choice being a thorn based yo-yo. So what would you all think of Palmon getting Bancholillimon as a mega form while Lalamon keeps Rosemon for Burst Mode? Be honest and tell me in the reviews.

"How the hell did you all talk me into going into a boss scouting mission at this late at night?" Taiki demanded, trying his best to suppress his yawn. It had been a strange few weeks since Argomon's attack, as Digimon appearances had dropped down to almost nothing. Originally, Taiki thought it was the Defenders doing that good of a job, but it soon became obvious that wasn't the case. He confirmed with Meramon that Digimon had just stopped appearing, almost like they were ordered too. So instead, the only Digimon causing trouble were a few stray thugs here and there.
"Because this time, someone said a trio of Digimon were helping the boss, and it might be our least favorite programmer." Asuna pointed out, trying not to fall asleep herself.
"Too tired, need sleep." Silica groaned, as Agil carried her.
"Couldn't we have waited a few hours like when the sun is up?" Klein groaned as Falcomon slept on his head.
"This was a horrible idea Asuna." Kirito agreed half asleep and riding face first on top of Huckmon. The rookie in question was struggling to support the player.
"We need to get an edge on them, so yes, this is our best bet of stopping the boss now." Asuna insisted.
"SMILEY BOMB!" An explosion was heard on the other side of the canyon wall.
"Oh dear god no, tell me his brothers aren't there too." Tai begged, waking up from the force.
The others followed, seeing three bizarre Digimon. All three were basically silver balls with arms and legs, although that's where the similarities stopped. The first was very basic, and the small of them all. The second was overly, and somewhat hilariously overlarge with bandages arranged like a cross on its stomach, or rather the lower part of the sphere. The third had a sliver and metallic helmet on, while its right arm was replaced by a single barrel cannon. The trio began to fire an assortment of blasts all over the area.
"The Mamemon brothers, of course." Taiki groaned.
Asuna took a look at her digivice, seeing the trio.

"Of course it had to be these party animals." Taiki groaned angered. The trio was blasting everything in sight, evidently not caring what was hit.
"You know them?" Agil asked confused.
"Remember that world tour bit I told you about that led to Myotismon's resurrection?" Taiki asked slightly angered. "I ended up fighting these three in Paris, France, and they got drunk at Versailles Palace."
"You've been to Paris?" Asuna asked impressed.
"Yeah, long story, right now get them." Taiki groaned annoyed, turning to four of their partners.
"Like you even got to ask." Agumon said smugly, crossing his arms.
Big Smiley Bomb!" BigMamemon fired an explosive round at the defenders, causing them to scatter.
"Hey, did one of those kids look familiar?" Mamemon asked confused.
"Who cares, let's just destroy them." MetalMamemon smirked victoriously. He pointed his energy cannon. "Magnetic Beam!" A concentrated energy beam shot out of the cannon, forcing the team to disperse.
"Second verse, same as the first, guys Digivolve!" Taiki ordered.
"You got it." Agumon tried to glow again. However, a rumbling shook the area. A wall separated Taiki, Asuna, Lisbeth, Kirito, and their respective partners from the Mamemon brothers and the other Defenders.
"Well, that happened." Mamemon said with a shrug.
"Yeah, yeah it did." Agil pointed out confused.
"So, want to fight?" BigMamemon offered.
The remaining Defenders looked at one another. "Yeah alright." Silica shrugged.
"Goody." The trio shouted happily.
"Well, shall we?" Gaomon suggested.
"Agreed." Lunamon said, giving the others a nod.

The three champions and humans stared down the three Ultimates. "Get them." The two sides charged.
Meanwhile inside the barricade, Taiki and the others had found themselves in the line of sight of the next boss. Looking at it, they had one thought.
"Well, we're boned." It was a gigantic statue like figure, with chunks missing throughout its body. Red rune lines covered the boss's body just as well. Above its head was the name tag Undead Golem, and it had six health bars.
"Well, want to run away screaming?" Taiki offered politely.
"After you." Asuna agreed as the Golem raised its fist. The team of four humans pulled out their teleportation crystals, only for an anti-crystal trap to appear.
"Oh come on!" Lisbeth groaned annoyed.
The Golem's fist soon reached the other players, but they quickly scattered.
"Uh guys, I get this boss is tough, but I think it's time for some extra fire power!" Lisbeth pointed out.
"With pleasure." Lalamon said determined, getting a nod out of the other Digimon.

The four Ultimate Digimon stood tall next to their respective partners, each ready to fight.
"Quick shot, TRIDENT REVOLVER!" RizeGreymon moved first, firing a trio of bullets. The beast took them straight to the chest, evidently no HP was lost.
"What, that never happens." Taiki pointed out confused.
"Scatter!" Taomon pointed out, as Undead Golem took pulled its fist back. The creature slammed it into the ground, causing the eight to move. In doing so, Lisbeth noticed something, a large spike embedded at the base of its neck.
"I think I found its weak spot." She said, raising an arm. "Thousand Spell!" A barrage of sealing Talismans fired off, nailing the spike. As the attack connected, the spike receded into its body, then reappeared on the top of the Golem's shoulder.
"Well, now this is a strategy I can get behind." Kirito pointed out. He drew both swords, intent on destroying the boss. The team charged, intent on destroying this boss, and to get back to their friends.
Meanwhile, Lekismon gracefully leapt over the rolling form of BigMamemon with Silica on her back. Just as she landed, something odd happened, the ground beneath her foot vanished. This caused the rabbit Digimon to stumble back a bit.
"What in blazes?" She questioned confused. Just then, BigMamemon slammed into the girls, pushing them away.
"Nasty little bugger, aren't you?" Agil commented, swinging his hammer at Mamemon. The smallest one was dodging the attacks without a problem. As he was, Gaogamon ran up from the upper levels of the canyon, intent on pouncing on the guy. Just as he was approaching the edge, the entire cliff and walkway vanished.
"Coming Down!" Gaogamon bellowed horrified. Mamemon used this as a distraction, and jumped back.
"Smiley Bomb!" The attack caused Gaogamon to be slammed into Agil.
"So I'm not the only one this has happened to?" Klein asked confused. He had almost fallen into a gigantic pit nearby.
"Now ending you humans is going to be too much fun." MetalMamemon sneered.
"No, we aren't going down that easily." Silica shouted determined. Agil and Klein nodded in agreement.
"I promised some friends of mine we'd get out of SAO in one piece, and I intend on keeping that promise." Klein said, drawing his blade.
"I've got a loving wife, waiting for me," Agil said, swinging his hammer. "I'm waking up and seeing her again, you glorified marbles aren't taking that away from me!" It was here, all three of their digivices lit up with power. Silica's turned a smooth opal, Agil's turned a deep blue sapphire, while Klein's turned a magnificent amethyst.
"Oh hell yes." Klein said with a wicked grin, confusing the Mamemon bros.

Crescemon was a more humanoid Digimon compared to Lekismon, clad in silver armor with blue highlights, and a series of quills going off her back. Hanging off the top of her horn like ears were pink ribbons. In her right hand was a crescent moon themed pickax like weapon and a third quarter moon themed shield mounted on her left arm.
MachGaogamon was a gigantic humanoid werewolf variation of the past form in a white and black bodysuit with matching headgear. He had silver armored hand and gauntlets and a wrestling belt going across its chest. On his back were a pair of silver thrusters.
Crowmon was a black and purple three legged bird of prey with white chest feathers decorated with gold bells. On his wings and head were gold armor.
"So cool." Silica said in awe, looking at her digivice.

"Oh, it feels so good to be this close to my true form again, but this is going to be even better, Lunatic Dance!" Moving gracefully, Crescemon moved with dance like moves and slashed BigMamemon with her weapon.
"Winning Knuckle!" With thrusters going full force, MachGaogamon delivered a powerful punch to Mamemon.
"Fire Jewels." Several feathers launched from Crowmon's body, igniting in flames, then struck MetalMamemon.
"No fair, no fair!" Mamemon bellowed enraged. "You're not supposed to be stronger than us!"
"Hold on, does the name Argomon mean anything to you?" Silica asked honestly.
The Mamemon brothers looked at one another confused before answering. "No."
"Well then, all together?" Crescemon asked rhetorically, hooking her ax to her shield, giving it a crossbow like form.
"Oh yeah!" The duo agreed.
"DARK ARCHERY!" A black energy arrow fired out from Crescemon's crossbow, ending MetalMamemon.
"Howling CANON!" MachGaogamon released an energy infused roar, destroying BigMamemon.
"Savage Emperor!" The claws on Crowmon's wings spun at high speeds as his third leg fired a concentrated energy blast, finishing Mamemon off.
"AWESOME!" Silica cheered happily. Just then, the barrier came down, revealing Taiki and the others, safe and happy. In Asuna's hands was a large stone temple themed hammer.
"Look what I won delivering the killing blow, Temple Guardian." Asuna said with a smile, handing over the weapon to Agil.
"Now that is legit." He said with a smile.
"So, anything interesting happen?" Taiki asked confused, turning to the newly digivolved additions. "You know, besides the obvious."
"Part of the land started to disappear when we were fighting the Mamemon brothers." Klein admitted.
"That's troubling," Kirito said, putting his fingers to his chin.
"I have a great idea, let's all think about it after we all go to bed." Taiki said with a yawn. Silica agreed, by falling asleep.
Everyone dispersed, with Agumon looking concerned at his partner's condition. "I almost forgot, today's the day right?"
"Yeah," Taiki answered quietly. His Player menu clock flipped over, revealed it was August 1st, the seven year anniversary the original team first went to the Digital World. This day hurt him more than any other since launch date. He missed everyone, his family, friends, the outside world, and now Tai was trapped in this game for who knows how long. All because he didn't want to face reality.
"Let's just go home buddy." Taiki said, his tone filled with sorrow. What Taiki was unaware of was both Asuna and Lisbeth noted how crestfallen he became. As the duo left, Lisbeth turned to Asuna.
"It's the anniversary," She explained.
"No wonder he's hurting," Asuna said with a sad sigh. "I know a lot of other players hate it when certain dates show up."
"We should hold a party to celebrate, maybe cheer him up?" Lisbeth suggested.
"Maybe, but like he said, let's get some sleep first." Asuna yawned, stretching.
-Odaiba Campsite 8:12 AM-
"Still cannot believe you volunteered to help set this whole thing up." Kari admitted, still astonished.
"Is that so hard to believe?" Matt asked rhetorically. He, Kari, Ken, and their respective partners were setting up for the anniversary party, which Matt essentially took over for.
"Yes, yes it is." Cody said walking up with his grandfather and Armadillomon not far behind.
"How many times do I have to say I'm making up for it until you believe me?" Matt asked annoyed.
"That depends, did you bring your guitar and plan an apology song?" Cody asked dryly.
"No," Matt admitted honestly.
It was here, Ken's phone rang, revealing Izzy was calling. "Hey Izzy what's up?"
"We have a problem, Athena managed to update the clone detection program to work with my Digimon analyzer on Digimon we've all seen before," Izzy began horrified. "And one is not too far away from where you all are."
"Which Digimon is coming?" Ken asked confused. Izzy answered and Ken screamed horrified. "KIMERAMON!"
The Digimon in question flew over the trees, making its appearance known. Kimeramon was a Digimon created by Ken during his last days as the Digimon Emperor. It was an amalgamation of mainly champion level Digimon and a few Ultimates. It had the body of Greymon, the head of Kabuterimon, the legs of Garurumon, the tail of Monochromon, the wings of Angemon and Airdramon, and the hairs of MetalGreymon. The creature had four arms. The lower two were both Devimon's and the upper two were Kuwagamon and SkullGreymon's.
"Well, damn." Matt gulped horrified.
"Sir, are you certain this was a good idea?" Sugou's female assistant asked from the monitor room. "Subject Legion was the most unstable of all our clones."
"If you want to be at the top, occasionally you have to take risks." Sugou stated annoyed. "But should my new scans be correct, Kimeramon is 56% likely to switch to Corruption mode."
"HEAT VIPER!" The beast fired a green energy flame at the team. Everyone scattered as the Digimon began to glow.

"Hello beautiful." Sugou said lustful, licking his lips seeing Angewomon. He knew what to do with Asuna should SAO be cleared. This caused the assistant to shudder in disgust.
"Celestial Arrow!" Angewomon's gauntlet shifted becoming a bow and arrow.
"Metal Blaster!" A freezing ray fired itself from Metal Garurumon's mouth. Both attacks nailed Kimeramon dead in the chest, pushing it away.
"Toxic Whirlwind!" Kimeramon flapped all of its wings, releasing a purple dust infused cyclone at the ground. The attack ripped the ground and trees apart, corroding the vegetation. Ankylomon loaded the human's on to his back and ran off to protect them.
"I know Kimeramon couldn't do that last time." Ken shouted frightened.
"The fact you didn't know that actually scares me a bit." Matt admitted.
"Dark Thunderbolt!" Kimeramon's horn lit up with violet lightning and shot it out at Stingmon, who just barely dodged.
"It looks like our cloner added some upgrades to the original." Kari pointed out.
"Black Surge!" Kimeramon released a black energy dome from its body. The energy blast slammed into both Angewomon and MetalGarurumon. The two airborne Digimon were pushed away with incredible force.
"It's a lot more powerful than the original." Angewomon pointed out, groaning as she rose from the ground. Just then, Kimeramon began to thrash violently, as it seemed to pixelate.
"Sir, the instability rate is rising at an alarming pace, it may not hold." Sugouh's assistant pointed out. "It may not hold its form."
"Then let's up the power." He said prideful. Just as he was about to, something slashed the beast with incredible force. Everyone looked up to see a pink armored female Digimon with gold armored ribbons and a shield attached to her arm.
"That's Crusadermon, one of the royal knights." Stingmon said astonished.
"Didn't expect to see one of them here." Ankylomon pointed out confused.
"What the hell is that thing, and where did it come from?" Sugou demanded infuriated.
"A mega level from what our scans show." His assistant admitted horrified.
"Laser Lattice!" Crusadermon fired a pink energy blast from her palm destroying Kimeramon in a single shot.
"Well, that happened?" Matt admitted confused.
"Y-yeah?" Kari admitted with an equal tone.
"I doubt that's the end of this," Cody's Grandfather pointed out. As if to prove him right, several hundred Digimon flew in from various portals. They were crossed between pterodactyls and jets. On the land were armored dragon like Digimon with tank treads for their lower bodies.
"Those are Pteramon and Tankdramon, nasty contenders." Stingmon explained concerned.
"Sir?" The assistant asked confused.
"That, that freak, she destroyed my greatest creation so easily," Sugou raged, furiously slamming his fingers into the control panels. "Let's see how well quantity works over quality.
"We'll need an army to fight these guys." MetalGarurumon pointed out, ready to fire.
"Coming right up!" Crusadermon said, diving straight down to the ground. She slammed her armored fist into it, creating a massive fissure. From it, the familiar silver armored bodies of Knightmon rose from the ground. Several hundred matched the Tankdramon in numbers.
"Well, that works." Kari pointed out.
"Davis is going to be so jealous he missed this." Ken said with a smirk.
"I've sent him a text, he's on the way." Cody pointed out. Chikara sat down, slurping one of his yogurt bottles.
"This is going to be so good." The old kendo master said with a smile.
-Aincrad Floor 1, Town of Beginnings same time-
The daycare matron Sasha finally woke up ready to start the day. After Digimon had started showing up, a lot of the baby and in-training Digimon found themselves lost and scared. Being the kind person she was, Sasha gladly opened the church to them too. Sasha began to chuckle a bit, as Taiki from the defenders once called her church Neo Primary Village, after a place in the digital world that did the same. One Digimon, a small fireball like Digimon called DemiMeramon specifically took interest in her and would frequently hang around her.
"Morning Sasha!" DemiMeramon said happily, flying around the matron as she adjusted her glasses.
"Morning DemiMeramon." Sasha said chuckling at her companion's antics.
"Miss Sasha!" One girl, Amber brought up running over horrified. "You'll never believe what happened this morning!"
"Those corrupt army members final gave back those taxes?" She asked rhetorically.
"No, a brand new dungeon showed up in town, it's a weird looking mountain." Amber said horrified. "But a big nasty black dragon is blocking the entrance."
This got Sasha worried, she heard about Devidramon from Yuiler and the threat it possessed. Plus that meant Kibaou wouldn't be too far behind, a thought that frightened her even more so. DemiMeramon also seemed to be frightened by the idea too. However he also had a look of concern on his face too.
-Hyrok Five minutes later-
Alright, alright, I'm coming." Taiki groaned, half annoyed and half asleep. He opened the door and much to his surprise, it was Heathcliff. "Well, you are honestly the last person I would think would hire me."
"Not the reason for my visit, Argomon has made his next move in the Town of Beginnings, you have to see this." The head of the KoB said, actually frighten.
"Be right down." Taiki said, shaking off the rest of the sleep out of his eyes.
Taiki and Agumon teleported down with Heathcliff right behind the two. The other defenders had already arrived before Taiki had, and were looking at the massive structure looming in the distance.
"Ok, so what's," Taiki began confused, only to become enraged and confused. "Oh, hell no Spiral Mountain?"
"Spiral, what now?" Klein asked confused, looking at the structure. It was a massive amalgamation of dead earth, a ruined city, oceans, and plant life, spiraled as the name suggested, situated off the side of Aincrad.
"The lair of the Dark Masters, some of the worst Digimon we ever fought, and made up of various parts of the digital world." Agumon explained grimly.
"Which would explain last night," Gaomon summarized, realizing this must have been why the landscape vanished during the fight with the Mamemon bros.
"Well that's just menacing." Asuna admitted disturbed.
"Let's go, this might be our best chance of destroying Argomon once and for all." Heathcliff said firmly. Everyone nodded and ran off. Upon their approach, the humans and Digimon were greeted to a massive swarm of players, one of which Kirito noted was Argo the rat.
"Argo, you're ok." The girl looked over and smiled at her allies, only to get nervous at the sight of Gaomon.
"Oh right, you're afraid of dogs, right?" Agil noted with a smirk.
"N-no, no I'm not." Argo lied nervously.
"Sure you aren't." Kudamon pointed out, getting everyone to notice the small Digimon wrapped around the girl's neck.
"So you picked up a friend too huh?" Asuna asked with a smile.
"The name is Kudamon, a pleasure to make your acquaintance." The small Digimon said, giving a polite bow.
"So, why the crowd?" Silica asked confused.
"Devidramon won't let anyone near the main building," Argo explained, getting excited. "The intel I could get off this dungeon is going to be awesome."
"Of course that's what you're excited for," Asuna said with a smile, glad to see Argo was in good health.
"So what happened to you?" Taiki asked confused.
"Argomon grabbed me after the Digimon showed up, and I met my new friend here," Argo explained scratching Kudamon's chin. "We got out with my lock picking skill." She then got a serious look on her face. "And before you all ask, no, we have no idea where his lair is,"
"Lair?" Agil asked confused.
"He's evil, I'm calling it a lair." Argo said flatly.
"Good point," Then Taiki got a concerned look on his face. "He knows,"
"What, what does," Kirito began confused, then got a series look on his face. "He knows today's your anniversary."
"Of what?" Argo asked confused.
"When me and six others first entered the Digital World," Taiki said firmly. "Argomon must want me in this dungeon."
"You're not going alone," Lisbeth said firmly, grabbing Taiki by the arm. Taiki looked around, and it was evident the other Defenders, Argo, and Heathcliff were in unanimous agreement about this journey.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Taiki said with a smile and a few happy tears.
"But first we have to get through this crowd." Silica reminded.
"Well, I do believe we can solve that problem." Agumon said with a smile, as the other Digimon nodded in agreement.
"This is going to be so awesome." Huckmon said with a smile. The Digimon agreed unanimously.

Heathcliff joined Taiki on GeoGreymon while Argo slowly inched away from Gaogamon as she got onto Peckmon with Klein.
"Let's ride." BaoHuckmon smirked rushing off.
The crowd instantly dispersed, seeing the Digimon rush past them. One member of the crowd, dressed in a KoB uniform, followed behind them. Devidramon was perched on the upper part of the gate leading into Spiral Mountain. It saw the defenders coming in and gave a weak smirk. The beast flew up into the upper level of the Dungeon, allowing the team of 9 humans and 8 Digimon to enter.
Inside the main room, Argomon could only look on in victory.
"Why all the theatrics, that's the one point I don't understand," PoH admitted, lying against the window.
"It keeps the humans on their toes, and weakens them for the main event." Argomon explained nonchalantly.
"This is going to be awesome." Kibaou agreed getting eager to finish Kirito.
"Well, this is kind of a letdown." Klein said annoyed, as the Digimon reverted back to rookie forms. The dungeon's main room was large, and kind of empty. It lead off to five other rooms. One had a jester like symbol on top the door, one had a snake like symbol, one had a cannon, and the fourth had a marionette controller. The fifth door was locked and had a large devil like symbol on top. On the door itself were four keyholes.
"If I had to guess, each one's meant to be like the four dark masters and Apocalymon." Taiki suggested, not sure what else to say.
"So each must have a key with it." Kirito summarized.
"Alright, game plan, everyone pairs of two, Argo, you and our Digimon stay here." Taiki ordered.
"Wait, what, you need us." Renamo pointed out.
"I know, but I don't trust what's behind door number five," Taiki said, turning to the fox. "And we might need you guys at full strength."
"Plus we can replenish our HP a lot faster than you guys can," Lisbeth agreed.
"So who are we dealing with?" Agil asked concerned.
"The clown door's based off Piedmon, he could toss daggers and do really weird magic," Taiki explained pointing to the first door, then to the cannon door. "Machinedramon was armor plated and had two gigantic cannons on his back." Taiki's finger then redirected to the snake. "Metalseadramon was a fish who could breathe fire and shoot out a concentrated energy beam from his head." Finally he turned to the puppet door. "Puppetmon wielded a hammer and could turn people into string puppets."
The defenders and Heathcliff then split up. Asuna and Kirito went into the jester door, Klein and Agil went into the cannon door, Taiki and Heathcliff went into the snake door, and Lisbeth and Silica went into the control door.
"Here we go." Kirito gulped, seeing a large colorful clown like Digimon dance on a ball. It had a white opera mask on with the suites of the four playing cards with reverse color schemes. It was presently juggling an assortment of throwing knives. Above its jester hat was the tag: Enchanted Clown.
Klein slowly drew his sword as Agil raised his hammer seeing the boss. It was a metallic grey European dragon with a large old fashioned cannon on its back and a silver helmet on. The creature's tag called it Metallic Dragon.
Taiki and Heathcliff were greeted to a large pool of water surrounding them. Just then, a large sea serpent clad in gold armor rose from the water, startling the duo. The nametag referred to the beast as Armored Leviathan.
Silica and Lisbeth were frightened to see a large moss covered Pinocchio like puppet hand from the rafters of the room. It's right hand was replaced with a sledgehammer, and it's nametag called it: Mad Marionette.
"Let's do this thing." Taiki said with a nervous gulp.
And here we go, end of chapter 17. I am so sorry this chapter took so long to get done, but I have a legit excuse. It took me way too long to find the Digimon World Tour episode online with the Mamemon bros. I wanted to be as anime accurate as possible.
