-October 23 Sugou's lab-

"This is total bull," Sugou raged infuriatingly. Someone by the name of Himekawa had appeared before him claiming to be from some Government Administration, having heard of the attack in August, and cut his funding. No that wasn't the official reason, it couldn't be. Sugou noticed something off about this bitch, something familiar. As he pondered this, a male teen in one of the tubes shook his left hand, as the lower half of a broken sword emerged from it.

"No matter, I still have the upper hand in all of this," Sugou sneered victoriously, looking at the feed from the hidden camera he placed in Asuna's room. As he lustfully watched on, the nine tubes of humans, one of which held TK, all began to glow red at the eyes.

-October 30 2:47PM, Floor 22 Forest Area -

Asuna and Kirito, recently in game married, smiled as they took a look out of their log cabin. After completing a job based on the popular story The Wizard of Oz, draining their collective savings, the two purchased a decent sized one bedroom log cabin in the woods. It was situated in the forest far away from the local settlement of Coral and out of safe zones, but far enough away from monster spawn points they didn't have to worry about random attacks at night.

Speaking of attacks, Argomon and PoH had vanished off the face of the map. All Digimon attacks as of late had been just random thugs trying to prove who was better. Because of this Taiki and the others had unanimously agreed to give Asuna and Kirito time off for their honeymoon. The duo fondly remembered that Taiki insisted on being the minster to their wedding.

Although one unofficial partnership of the Data Defenders had ended. Kudamon had vanished after the anniversary party, having switched to his champion form Reppamon, and ran off, worrying Argo most of all. The team as a whole said that Argo and Kudamon were members of the team, with or without a digivice.

"ASUNA, KAZUTO!" Asuna groaned in annoyance as Huckmon bellowed from the forest.

"I swear that partner of yours," Asuna began with a scowl, only to become shocked in an instant. "What the hell?" Asuna and Kirito leapt over the railing to see Huckmon and Renamon run over at high speeds. In Renamon's arms was a small girl, no older than 10 years old, she was presently unconscious and showed no signs of waking.

"Where did you find her?" Kirito instantly questioned.

"The forest, deep, over by the mountains," Huckmon answered panicking a bit. "I smelled her and then she just collapsed in front of me,"

"So the little twerp got frightened and ran to get you two, only to get to me first," Renamon explained, gently handing the girl over to Asuna. "Both of us felt something off about this girl,"

"I can see why, she doesn't have a player icon," Kirito admitted confused. Because of their player accounts, Kirito and Asuna could see things the Digimon couldn't.

"Is she one of those quest givers?" Huckmon offered as Asuna walked inside, tucking the girl into one of two beds.

"If that were the case neither of you could have interacted with her like you did," Asuna explained. "I saw this a few times during the first few Digimon attacks,"

"Right, if that were the case I would have set off an alarm," Renamon reminded.

"She has to be a player and logged in with her parent or guardian, that's the only explanation," Kirito summarized.

"Let's hope she wasn't orphaned," Huckmon said, getting everyone to agree with him unanimously.

Later that night, Asuna woke up from the bed she shared with Kirito at the moment. Huckmon was asleep at the foot of their bed while Renamon propped up against the wall per her preference. Slowly Asuna got out of bed and pulled back the cover, nuzzling up against the girl. "Please, wake up soon,"

The next morning, Asuna slowly woke up to see the girl look up at her with wide chocolate brown eyes. "Everyone, wake up," She ordered startled.

Groggily, Kirito rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, Huckmon stretched shaking his head to wake up, Renamon got up and stretched her arms out. The trio practically jumped out of their skins seeing the girl was awake.

"You woke up, good, do you remember what you were doing out in the forest?" Asuna asked worried. The girl was silent for a moment, then shook her head no. "Alright, how about where your parents?" Again the girl shook her head no. "Anything, how about your name?" Asuna offered.

"My name, my name is Yui," The girl said quietly, then her volume increased remembering her name.

"Alright, my name's Kirito and this is Asuna, Renamon and Huckmon," Kirito introduced. Something about her didn't sit right with Huckmon.

"Awuna, Keyto," Yui tried to pronounce.

"What are we chop liver?" Huckmon asked Renamon.

"Apparently," Renamon retorted.

"Kir-ee-to," Kirito pronounced, hoping it could help Yui.

"Keyto," Yui tried to duplicate.

"That's ok," Kirito said with a light chuckle, patting Yui on the head. "How about you just call me whatever's easiest?"

Yui was silent for a moment before she said something that shocked everyone in the room. "Daddy,"

"M-me?" Kirito stuttered shocked.

Then Yui turned to Asuna. "Awuna is, mommy," Asuna recoiled at that, causing Yui's lip to tremble.

With a reluctant sigh and a smile, Asuna agreed to it. "Alright, I'm mommy, that works,"

"Mommy!" Yui happily jumped into Asuna's arms.

"You must be starving, how about some breakfast?" Asuna offered with a light chuckle.

"Ok," Yui said with a smile.

"Extra spicy sandwiches!" Huckmon declared.

"With onions!" Kirito agreed, causing Asuna to sigh exasperatedly.

"You two with the spices," She groaned annoyed.

Kirito was sitting on the couch with Yui sitting on the adjacent seat, while he read the paper. In one hand was one of Asuna's extra spicy sandwiches. Noticing Yui's curious look, Kirito put on a playful smirk.

"Here you go Yui, I made this one special," Asuna said, bringing over a meal for the small girl. She put the plate on the coffee table, but Yui took on a curious look.

"I want the same one that Daddy has," Yui said opening up her arms.

"Oh I don't know Yui, these are super spicy," Kirito said with a mischievous smirk. Yui's face didn't back down. "Alright, if you think you're up for it, I won't stop you,"

He handed one of the sandwiches to Yui who took a large bite. The intense flavor put tears in her eyes. "I like it,"

"Wow, I guess you have a powerful pallet, we can do a whole meal of super spicy foods if you want," Kirito offered.

"Like curry, and pizza, and dumplings!" Huckmon agreed, drooling at the mouth.

"Yummy," Yui said with a smile.

"Cool it down you three, I'm not cooking anything nuclear," Asuna said firmly.

"You heard the lady," Huckmon said with a laugh.

"You heard the lady," Yui mimicked with the same tone.

Sometime later, Yui had fallen asleep in her chair, with Huckmon curled at her feet. Asuna watched on, albeit somewhat concerned.

"What's wrong?" Renamon asked concerned.

"Can we keep this up?" Asuna asked worried, getting Kirito's attention too. "We aren't her real parents,"

"I know but," Kirito began, only to hear Yui muttering in her sleep.

"Mommy, daddy," She said with a smile. Asuna gave a reluctant smile of her own, preventing her concern.

"But we will find her family," Renamon reminded. The trio awake nodded.

-Hyrock Same time-

"We haven't stopped looking Argo," Taiki assured her. Argo sat on the couch as she and Taiki spoke. The defenders had taken turns trying to find Kudamon, with minimal results. Considering his rookie for was so small, and 75 levels of Aincrad had been unlocked, nobody knew where to find him. So here was Argo, with Lisbeth and Lalamon, sitting on the couch drinking tea.

"I know, it's just all the time we spent as partners," Argo brought up. Just then, there was a knock at the door.

Taiki opened it, to see none other than Yulier at the door, looking horrified. "I need your help, it's Kibaou," Everyone's eyes widened at that. Yulier was placed into a chair and began her story.

"Yesterday we ran into Kibaou, evidently hiding from someone, ran into this dungeon on floor one," Taiki got tense at that. "Nobody's heard from Thinker since,"

"Hidden Dungeon," Taiki said getting everyone else's attention. "I've only heard about it, supposedly it only recently got unlocked but no one has bothered to get to the end,"

"Why?" Yuilier asked confused.

"Don't know," Taiki admitted concerned. "Everyone I've talked to was way too afraid to go in all the way," This confused everyone present. "It has a lot of weaker monsters in it, like the kind that should be on Floor 30, but considering when it was unlocked, nobody trusts it,"

"You think it's a false sense of security?" Lalamon asked concerned. Taiki nodded.

"And being Kibaou worked with Argomon for so long, you think he knows what's really down there?" Lisbeth summarized.

"Let's go," Taiki said firmly.

-Town of Beginnings, 1102-

When Lisbeth, Taiki, Yulier, Argo, Lalamon, and Agumon arrived at the teleport gate, they were surprised to see Kirito and Asuna, with a strange black haired girl. Said girl was riding Huckmon with a pink sweater, black skirt, and brown boots.

"Well hey newlyweds, you get that busy already?" Taiki said with a light chuckle.

Both Kirito and Asuna became blood red in the face at their friend's comment. "It's NOT LIKE THAT!"

"Mommy, Daddy, what's he mean?" Yui asked confused.

"Mommy, daddy?" Lisbeth asked with a growing smile.

"We found Yui here in the forest yesterday, apparently she thinks Kazuto and Asuna are her parents," Huckmon answered.

The humans new to Yui looked at one another, before teasingly turning to Asuna and Kirito with a unified. "AWWW!"

"STOP IT!" Asuna bellowed embarrassed beyond belief.

"Not a chance," Taiki said with a smirk. It was here, Yui got off of Huckmon, ran over to Taiki, and pushed him a bit. Given the size difference between the two, Taiki barely felt a thing.

"Uncle, stop teasing Mommy and Daddy," She ordered with a pout. Taiki just laughed a little bit at that.

"Alright then Yui," Taiki happily pat his niece on the head a bit.

"Does this make me Aunt?" Lisbeth said cutely.

Yulier tried her hardest not to laugh at their antics, then adopted a reluctant expression. "Let's not forget about Thinker," Both Asuna and Kirito got frightened.

"What happened?" Huckmon asked worried.

"Kibaou was found in a hidden dungeon," Taiki answered.

"Let's go," Renamon said firmly.

"We can drop Yui off at Sasha's, she owes us a," Asuna offered.

"NO, I WANT TO GO TOO!" Yui bellowed frightened. She grabbed onto Asuna's waist, evidently having no intent of letting go of her mother.

"The girl has spoken," Taiki said astonished, unaware DemiMeramon was watching worried.

The trek into the mystery Dungeon was confusing. As Taiki explained, the monsters were needless to say weak. Being everyone was at least level 100, nobody had any problem defeating the frogs.

"NO!" Asuna bellowed infuriatingly as Kirito held up a frog intestine.

"Aw come on, think of what you could cook with this," Kirito offered.

"I SAID NO!" Asuna ripped the organ from her husband's hand and threw it down the catacomb.

"What could you make with those intestines?" Lisbeth asked Taiki, knowing he too had a maxed out cooking level.

"Don't know and don't want to know," Taiki admitted with a disgusted look on his face. "I'm in the same boat as Asuna,"

"Thank you Taiki," Asuna said grateful.

"Not you too man," Kirito said crestfallen. Taiki's own look was answer enough. "Huckmon back me up,"

"I have standards with my pallet man," Huckmon said annoyed.

"Damn it," Kirito furiously accessed his inventory, revealing an armful of intestines. "OK, then what am I supposed to do with all this?" Asuna turned blue in disgust with what Kirito had.

"Easy, Spitfire Blast!" Huckmon burned the frog intestines within Kirito's arms, forcing Kirito to drop them.

"I was going to do that," Agumon whined annoyed.

"Thank you Huckmon," Asuna and Renamon said in unison. Huckmon smiled.

-Real World, Undisclosed Location-

A woman accessed the SAO servers from her computer, with only the screen illuminating her face. "So Athena, where are you now?" The woman asked darkly. "Everything was going according to plan until you started budding in,"

The search showed Athena was in Beijing, China, but she knew better, Athena was somewhere in Japan. But where?

It was here, the woman's screen was quickly replaced by a Blue Screen of Death with one phrase on it: "Nice try Maki,"

"ATHENA!"

-Odaiba Beach-

Kari and Gatomon were presently situated on the sand, enjoying the sand and sun. Or at least, that was the idea. Kari had been trying her hardest to find a part time job to help pay for Tai's medical expenses but was frequently turned down to either age or inexperience. However, there was something off about their responses, almost like it was rehearsed.

"Don't give up Kari, I'm sure you'll find something," Gatomon said with a weak smile.

"Thanks Gatomon, but it's just," Kari began, only to feel something odd. It was here, a massive flash of energy narrowly missed the two, destroying two trees. Kari and Gatomon both looked up to see a knight like Digimon wearing brown and white cat themed armor.

"You, you're Leopardmon, one of the royal knights!" Gatomon bellowed horrified.

Kari then remembered what Crusadermon had said before, something about how Leopardmon. "You, but, but why,"

Leopardmon didn't say anything, only he raised his thin sword. "Extinction Wave!" A powerful arc slashed at the duo once more.

Kari tried to reach for her phone to contact help, only for it to fall out of her hands as Gatomon pushed her partner away. "NO!"

Kari's digivice fell out of her pocket, and into the sand. Quickly Kari dove for it, as her partner glowed.

GATOMON DIGIVOLVE TO ANGEWOMON!

The female angel took to the skies, and put her hands together. "Heaven's Charm," Angewomon fired a powerful energy attack at Leopardmon, only for him to deflect the attack.

"Black Aura Wave!" Swinging his sword again, Leopardmon fired a black energy wave and knocked Angewomon out of the skies. She landed onto the ground, hard, knocked out.

Leopardmon landed, aimed right at Kari. "So you were chosen to be a protector of the Digital World?"

"Um, yes," Kari offered confused.

"Pathetic," Leopardmon said annoyed, raising his blade again. "Why the sovereigns rely on you is beyond me,"

"Maybe I'm stronger than I look," Kari said firmly. It was here, Kari felt a strange, powerful fire build up within her. Unaware, Tai's crest of courage lit up on her Digivice's screen. Angewomon stood up with renewed vigor.

ANGEWOMON MEGA DIGIVOLVE TO OPHANIMON!

"What?" Leopardmon demanded, turning around.

"Sefirost Crystals!" A powerful barrage of frozen crystals slammed into Leopardmon, and into the ground. Kari looked up in shocked to see what Gatomon had become.

She was now an archangel like Digimon clade in bluish green and gold armor with five sets of golden wings on her back. In her hand was a long gold javelin like weapon.

"Like the new look?" Ophanimon asked with a smile.

"I love it," Kari said ecstatically. Leopardmon got back up, and charged at Ophanimon. The archangel blocked with her javelin, pushing the cat back.

"You, how did you assume the form of one of the great three angels?" Leopardmon demanded, confusion and anger in his tone.

"Humanity, simple as that," Ophanimon said with a smirk. "Eden's Javelin!" Ophanimon's weapon lit up with gold power, and tossed it at Leopardmon. The royal knight tried to dodge, only to take the blow to the shoulder.

Ophanimon walked over and pulled her weapon out of her opponent. She then pointed it at Leopardmon's throat. "Now spill, why did you attack us?"

"DRAGON THROWER!" From above, two dragon shaped energy attacks hit Ophanimon. It was a dragon like humanoid Digimon. This one was clad in white, blue and gold armor with blue wings on his back.

"Dynasmon, why are the Royal Knights attacking?" Ophanimon demanded.

"Another knight?" Kari demanded. The third one they had met in the past few months, but two of them chose to attack them.

"Because it is the will of our master," Dynasmon said, as his body began to glow brightly. "Breath of-"

"POSITRON LASER!" Imperialdramon Dragon mode quickly fired an energy beam into Dynasmon, pushing him into the water.

"And here I thought it would be a bad idea to join you at the arcade Davis," Ken said as he and his DNA digivolution partner ran up to Kari's aid.

"Extinction Wave!" Switching arms, Leopardmon attacked again, this time aimed at Imperialdramon. "It's only a matter of time before the rest of you children show up," Leopardmon vanished in a wave of energy. A similarly colored light lit up in the water, implying Dynasmon was gone too.

"That was odd," Ken said confused as Davis pulled out his phone.

"Hey Gatomon, hold still a minute, I want to send Yolie a picture of what you can do without her," Davis said with a smirk. As Ken comforted his girlfriend, nobody noticed Crusadermon watching from an adjacent rooftop.

"I told him so,"

-Hidden Dungeon-

"Huh?" Taiki asked confused.

"What, what's wrong?" Yulier asked confused.

"I could have sworn I just heard my sister," Taiki admitted confused.

"Again?" Asuna asked confused. "I hope it's not another Dark Ocean thing,"

"Dark Ocean?" Yulier asked confused.

"Trust me, you don't want to know," Lisbeth said horrified.

"GUYS!" Everyone turned to see Thinker in a safe zone.

"THINKER!" Ecstatic, Yulier ran forward. Noticing the strange reaction on Yulier, both teen girl SAO players turned to one another.

"I told you those two were dating," Lisbeth whispered to Asuna.

"Good call," Asuna admitted.

"YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE, KIBAOU TRICKED ME, HE'S ALREADY GONE!" Thinker called out. But it was too late, an anti-Crystal trap lit up, and from the shadows came a powerful looking Grim Reaper like monster. The tag called it Fatal Scythe.

"Holy hell," Taiki said horrified. Nobody could see the level or any of the stats, meaning this thing was far more powerful.

"Yui, go to that safe room and wait for us!" Kirito said horrified.

"But daddy," Yui said scared.

"YUI GO!" Asuna threw her pseudo daughter into the room as every Digivice lit up. Yulier and Thinker grabbed the girl, forcing her into the room. They tried to set her onto the large black bench in the safe room.

"NO!" Yui cried out.

AGUMON MATRIX DIGIVOLVE TO RIZEGREYMON

HUCKMON MATRIX DIGIVOLVE TO SAVIOR HUCKMON

RENAMON MATRIX DIGIVOLVE TO TAOMON

LALAMON MATRIX DIGIVOLVE TO LILAMON

"Surprised you didn't go WarGreymon for this," SaviorHuckmon said offhandedly.

"I just don't have it in me for some reason," RizeGreymon admitted. "NOW ALL TOGETHER!"

"RISING DESTROYER/ METEOR FLAME/ THOUSAND SPELL/ LILA SHOWER!" The four ultimate leveled Digimon fired their beam attacks at Fatal Scythe, only for the attacks to have no effect.

"Uh oh!" Everyone said worried. Fatal Scythe swung its weapon with blinding speed, effortlessly attacking the eight. The Digimon were reverted to their rookie forms, while the players lost all but 60 of their HP.

"NO!" Yui touched the black bench, revealing it was actually a console. The system lit up as a large holoscreen appeared.

"What, what do you mean something's accessing our files?" Sugou demanded infuriated. His systems were revealing files on the various Digimon they had cloned, but something was accessing them. Something off site.

Yui then began to glow so brightly, everyone noticed it.

"What is that girl of yours doing?" Taiki asked confused.

CRITICAL ARM!" Yui called out, as something pierced through Fatal Scythe, destroying it instantly.

"Wow," Kirito said astonished. It was a new Digimon, a green and yellow armored one with energy blades for hands. Asuna's digivice then lit up.

Fujinmon
Level: Mega
Type: Cyborg
Attribute: Vaccine
Attacks: Critical Arm, Malt Cyclone

"Yui?" Asuna asked astonished as Fujinmon landed before them. In a flash of light, Fujinmon was reverted back to none other than Yui.

"I remember," Yui said weakly, then passed out. The team of eight relocated to the safe room, where Yui quickly regained consciousness.

"How is it fair you get to be a mega right from the start," Huckmon grumbled, only for Lalamon to slam on top of him.

"What was that?" Asuna finally said after a moment of silence.

"I remember," Yui said, her eyes to the ground.

"You remember who you are?" Kirito said astonished.

"Not who, what," Yui corrected confusion everyone.

"What are you a Digimon like us?" Lalamon asked confused.

"No, I'm Yui-MHCP001, a mental health program," Yui's statement startled everybody.

"W-what?" Yulier asked.

"I was supposed to help everyone trapped within, offering mental health counselling, but the Cardinal System wouldn't let me leave my data kernel. For whatever reason, I was forced to sit by as players committed suicide, forbidden from doing as I was programed. Then I saw you, seeing you fight the foreign programs called Digimon, seeing your resolve, I had to know. I wanted to know how you kept going. So I decided to break free, in doing so my data and memory was corrupted. When I touched this Game Masters terminal, my programing was restored, and I somehow found stray Digimon data. But at a cost," Yui explained.

"What cost?" Asuna asked confused, tears building up.

"The Cardinal System now knows where am I, and has decided to delete me," Yui finally looked up, tear forming in her eyes. "Mommy, Daddy, I don't want to go!"

"To hell you are!" Kirito quickly rushed past and accessed the GM console as Asuna hugged her daughter tightly.

"No matter what, you are my daughter, and we are family," Asuna sobbed, her own tears coming out too.

"Almost!" Kirito began, as Yui faded away. "Got it!" He turned around to hold up a teardrop pendant. In it was a small ember. "This is Yui's heart, a backup drive for her,"

"Why, why does this have to happen?" Asuna demanded as she grabbed onto Kirito, who comforted his wife. Both Renamon and Huckmon did the same.

"At a guess, it's because Kayaba thought it would be a good idea to play god," Taiki said darkly.

"The first damned chance I get," Asuna said darkly, tears forming up. "I get to punch Kayaba in the damned face," Everyone unanimously agreed. DemiMeramon, still watching, gave a weak smile.

Wow, wow, this, wow this was hard to write, knowing I had to write Yui's death scene. So much so in fact, I had to rush through this a bit. Don't worry, this is temporary, as I have a plan. Doesn't make it feel any better, but yeah she'll be back.
