BACKSTORY: So the center of this oneshot is a new hunter who was recently hurt by a man (I'm gonna leave it up to you what that means, but I don't mean emotionally). This means she is very distrusting, and now they are visiting CHB.
Also, I know that Olivia seems like a bit of a villain here, but her views are understandable with the thing that happened to her.
"Our ranks are getting low." Lieutenant Thalia said. "We need to recruit."
Groans and cheers went through the hunters. Clearly this meant something that Olivia didn't understand.
"That never works out well, Milady." Alexandra spoke up.
"Less and less mortals are willing to give up men. Camp is our best shot. And I would like to see my family." Thalia said "I'm hoping you all can be on better behavior than last time. And if you do blow up a cabin, please make it number one. I hate that place."
"Who will be going?" Another hunter asked
"I'll be taking six hunters. Olivia, you should come, since you're new. Who else would like to come?" Several hands shot up around the room, and Thalia selected five of them. She then walked out of the room, and Olivia turned to a hunter next to her, Joan.
"What is camp?"
"Camp Half-Blood. It's where all of the Greek demigods stay. It's fun to visit, or at least I think so, but there are men and boys." Joan told her
"How can a place with males be fun?"
"Don't let Thalia hear you talking like that. She doesn't share the same views about them as the rest of us. Says that some have saved her life." Elizabella, another hunter, piped up.
"Why's she in the hunt then?" Olivia asked
"Not all hunters hate men, some just don't want to rely on them. She keeps to herself though, and I wasn't on the quest." Elizabella shrugged
"Quest?"
"The quest to free Artemis. A joint effort between camp and the hunters. That was when our old lieutenant, Zoƫ Nightshade, died, and Thalia took over." Joan told her. They spent a half an hour explaining things to her, and then they went off to bed.
"So this is camp?" Olivia asked, as they walked over the hill. Thalia was gazing fondly at the pine tree.
"Hey, Pinecone Face! Good to be home?" A voice, distinctly male, called out to her.
"Yes, actually. I'm quite fond of the tree, considering it housed me for five years." She said dryly. "Glad to be free though."
"You've got me to thank for that." He smiled cockily.
"And Annabeth and Clarisse."
He put his arm over his chest in mock hurt. "I got turned into a guinea pig for you!"
"What's this now?" Thalia looked up in surprise, laughing. The boy blushed.
"We may have had a layover at Circe's island... I thought Annabeth would have told you." She was laughing her head off at this point.
"Where... Is.. haha.. Jason? Hahahaha" Thalia managed to get out between laughs
"Right here!" Another boy, probably Jason, called. Why was Thalia talking to these boys? Now she was giving him a hug?
"What are you doing, Milady?" Olivia cried out, scandalized.
"Ummm... Hugging my brother?" She asked
"But he's a male!"
"I am aware. I had to change his diapers." Thalia said calmly "I'm going to go check up on some leads for possible recruits. Joan, can you lead everyone to the cabin?"
"Why is she fraternizing with these boys?" Olivia said, frustrated.
"That first boy, that was Percy Jackson. He is one of the few heroes that Lady Artemis respects. He held up the actual sky to save her and his best friend, Annabeth. Annabeth then later became his girlfriend and he literally fell into the deepest pits of hell for her. The second one is Thalia's younger brother, Jason." One of the senior hunters told her "You should be careful as to what you say. The demigod world is very different from the mortal one. Almost everyone here is a hero, and they all have scars, regardless of gender."
On the way to the cabin, they bumped into a pale boy with black hair. He gave them a withering glare.
"That's Nico Di Angelo, son of Hades. He hates the hunters." Joan told her. By this time, they had reached the cabin.
"Why? Does he think that women should belong to men, or that we shouldn't have a safe place? Does he want us for himself?" Olivia was livid now, and a loud snort belong to their leader was heard from the doorway.
"I would appreciate if you didn't talk about my friends like that. And for your information, Nico has a completely valid reason for his hate. Plus he doesn't swing our way." Thalia said. It was clear she was angry. "I would think that someone would have warned you about making assumptions."
"I did, milady" The girl from earlier said
"Yes, thank you, Valeria. You should heed her advice, Olivia." She told her "One demigod I know. Incredibly annoying, flirts with anything that can walk, but his mother died in a machine shop in front of him. He then died to defeat Gaia, but managed to come back and save a girl from an island. Another one grew up with an abusive stepfather until he was twelve, and was prophesied to die at 16. Yet he didn't become sour, instead he is kind and humble, and would risk his life for anyone here. A girl I know grew up in the 40's, and died to save many others, but them was brought back a couple years ago and continued to fight. One whose mother died in Afghanistan, and had his life tied to a piece of wood. A girl who became a spy for Kronos, but then died saving her family. A girl with an alcoholic starlet mother who, when she was ten, was told that her younger brother was dead. She then ran away and made it to camp, only to end up on the brink of death. Don't assume."
