Harry Potter and the King of the Amazons
Chapter 36
-Harry-
Sitting in his booth at the Three Broomsticks, Harry let out a relaxed sigh as he sipped at his drink. Things were looking good for him right now as Dumbledore was gone, they were making plans for getting rid of Voldemort, and with the Yule Ball and second task rapidly approaching, this stupid tournament was nearing its conclusion. "My King." His guard for the day turned towards the opening door, "Chieftain Ragnok has arrived."
"Good, have him brought over." Harry ordered, gesturing to Rosmerta to come and bring another round for him and his imminent guest. The frothy mugs were soon set down as his colleague took a seat, his expression showing the news wasn't the best. "How bad?" Harry sighed, and just when he was having a good day too.
"Not necessarily bad but the news is in no way good. We've only had two bounties collected on the near fifty cult members and the groups seem to be going to ground." Ragnok scowled as he handed over a file on the bounty hunters who cashed the reward as well as who was turned over.
"So they've either developed a before now unseen survival instinct." Harry began with a frown.
"Or they're planning something big." Ragonk finished with a nod as they drained their beers.
"I was going to say Voldemort was planning something big and keeping his new attack dogs in line but close enough." Harry tossed some coins to Rosmerta, "Come on, we can discuss new strategies at the castle." Guards in tow, the two of them began the trek through the snows back to his castle, the locals all waving at him as he passed.
"The locals seem taken with you." Ragnok observed as they got into a carriage to shorten their trip, "Surprisingly so given you just killed Dumbledore in combat."
"Dumbledore was a fool who never bothered to try and improve the lives of others." Harry scoffed at the thought of the dead man, "He acted like he was trying to in an attempt to curry favor but never put any real effort into it. My forces have been keeping the residents safe since I arrived and with the influx of gold I saw to, the town ahs been prospering since. I did more for them in three and a half years than Dumbledore did in close to a hundred."
"I feel I should be surprised but I'm sadly not." Ragnok shook his head, "The man had the three of the four most powerful positions in the country available and still failed to accomplish anything significant with them.
Before Harry could comment, his guard snapped up "My King, the compass." The Amazonian warrior pointed to the compass that was designed to track the Horcruxes, something all his elite warriors were aware of given their duty to join on the hunts for them as needed. As the carriage was rounding a curve in the almost circular path winding up the hill to the castle, he saw the small arrow continuing to point at the ancient stone building.
"Ragnok, I want ward breakers here now." Harry went from exasperated king to commander in an instant, "My amazons are already here for security, but I don't know what magical protections or curses around this one, let alone what the damn thing is."
"Right." Ragnok nodded, already working on sending out a message to have his curse breaker teams head to the castle immediately "We'll say we found a cursed item down in the Chamber of Secret tunnels if anyone asks, keep people from knowing what's actually going on."
"Good thinking." He nodded to the Goblin as their carriage pulled to a stop and was sent right back down to collect the imminent arrivals. "One more." Harry couldn't contain his savage grin, "Only one more left after this."
-Fudge-
Nervously, Fudge paced about his office where Dolores and Lucius set, various drinks and papers scattered about. "No, that one won't work either." Lucius grit out at yet another of Dolores' plans to deal with Potter, this one being send the remaining Dementors to kiss him, "He already showed he can Kill Dementors and I have no doubt he will happily come for your head and the head of anyone in his way if he tries. We need to be subtle. You do know what that word means don't you?"
"How dare you?!" Dolores puffed up angrily at the jab, looking rather frog like if Fudge was going to be honest with himself.
"Quite easily." Lucius snorted dryly, "I have more difficult verbal spars with my house elves."
"Alright enough!" Fudge snapped, pinching the bridge of his nose, "We've been trying to think of a plan for three days now. We're stressed, we're tired, and I'm fairly sure we've emptied at least half of my liquor cabinet. At this point I'm starting to think our only idea is hiring some foreign hit wizard to challenge him to a duel and kill him that way."
"That might not be a bad idea." Lucius mulled over his frustrated sarcastic proposal, "I'm aware of a few potential candidates for such a duel who I'm sure will be most agreeable to the idea. I'll arrange things so we can take care of it. I can assume you both can arrange for certain potions to give our 'champion' an edge or two?"
"I'll see to it." Dolores got up at that, Cornelius' two closest advisors walking out and leaving him alone in his messy office full of empty liquor bottles and paper plans to get rid of one Harry Potter.
"And I…I have to clean up everything." Fudge's forehead slammed hard onto his desk, "Sweet Merlin why did I ever take this job?"
-Harry-
"The compass says it should be here." Ragnok frowned as his retinue reached a stretch of wall on the seventh floor. They had managed to find that the Horcrux was on this floor and the compass showed it should be behind the wall they were at. That was all well and good except for the fact that the wall had no doors and the other side was the open air of the grounds.
"Mopsy!" Harry called out for the School's chief House elf who appeared with a crack.
"Master King Harry Potter Sir be calling for Mopsy?" The little creature asked, head tilted as they bounced about eagerly.
"Do you know of any hidden rooms here?" Harry gestured to the wall.
"That be the comes and goes room!" Mopsy seemed even happier given they apparently know the information "Yous just need to walk back and forth three times in front of the wall and think about what you want, and the room appears to provide!"
"Good job Mopsy, thank you." Harry nodded, "That's all for now." When the tiny creature vanished again he looked at those with him, "Nobody knows a building better than the house elves who maintain it."
"So it would seem." Ragnok nodded while a curse breaker did the pacing, a door appearing instantainously, "Now let's see what we have heeeeeeere." The goblin's voice trailed off as they entered the largest building Harry had ever seen in the castle, even when compared to the chamber of Secrets. Everywhere the eye could see were mountains of items.
"…Mopsy." Harry called again, pinching the bridge of his nose as the always eager elf returned.
"Master King Harry Potter Sir be calling for Mopsy again? Oh happy day!" the tiny elf danced about.
"I want you to get all the House Elves who aren't needed for tasks like cooking or crucial maintenance as well as any extra members of my kingdom you find in the school and send them up here." Harry ordered as he gestured to the mountains and mountains of items "I need this stuff sorted, organized, and catalogued and so we'll need all the man, women, and elf power we can find."
"Mopsy can do that!" with a loud crack, which caused a few nearby junk mountains to collapse, the elf vanished.
"Become a curse breaker mom said." One of Ragnok's employees grumbled as everyone began sifting through the rubble to at the very least find a path to the Horcrux they came for, "It pays well and you'll have a respectable job she said. I'm stuck as janitor at a bloody school!"
"Then you should have studied more." Charles shot back with a laugh.
"Shut it ya bloody Ravenclaw."
