Guess what.. I'm back...hehe...
"They'd leave their problems for later, in another life, when they've enjoyed this one."
The sun refused to leave the clouds, as if it was attracted to them. Could it be that they were in love? But everybody preferred to keep them apart. Lucy found this thought rather sad. She liked to see two lovers coming liked to read romances where the protagonists repressed their feelings out of fear of the each other and ended up kissing like two jerks. Life had never been like that. That's why she liked those books.
The girl continued to walk down the street, her hands pressed against her heart. Today was the first day of school, anxiety seemed to overwhelm her. She was afraid of the looks, of the people staring at her. Her greatest fear was that the situation would get worse. Lucy was a bad luck charm. Then when she arrived, she was surprised that Revy jumped on her. The little blue-haired girl screaming, it was enough to impress her, but now everything seemed to be intensified. They hugged each other, like if that was the first time , forgetting the fear that was eating away at her belly.
- We're all here," whispered the discreet library mouse.
Lucy understood her words. All of them. Same school. Same class. All of them. A shadow hung over her mind. She wanted to know.
- They told you," she asked.
- Yes, they did. Just to us. With the details."
The young blu-haired girl had been thinking before answering. She understood that it was important to her friend. She intensified the silence and pressed her lips together. No, she didn't like that. Her teeth tightened on her closed lips. The pain was transmitted in her head but she kicked it out. No time for that.
The girls fixed on each other's eyes. They didn't dare to react anymore.
- I know it's going to be hard," Revy said. "But you'll have to hang in there. Life has asked for it, don't try to contradict it."
Her hand grabbed the blonde's one. She took her to the schoolyard.
The young people were divided into small groups, some laughing, others struggling in the flood of people in front of the billboards. Her group was sitting on a cement table. The wood would have rotted, so the school preferred a hard and resistant material. Let's put the environmental side aside for now. Heads turned towards her. Juvia screamed when she saw her while Grey smiled intensely. He grabbed his girlfriend's hand and quietly whispered in her ear. She immediately closed her mouth and her blushes got all over her cheeks. Gadjeel stood up, arms wide open. The blonde thought he wanted to take his "shrimp" in a hug, but he was heading towards her. The young man with many piercings wrapped her in his arms, he had always been very protective of her. The summer had not helped the situation.
- Hey," she mumbled.
- Hey."
A second silence followed. He held her close to him while she had put her arms under his shoulders and pulled on the fabric of his black shirt. Emotions were present but they weren't expressed.
- Listen," began the boy. "Don't ever do that again. I'll be crazy."
She nodded as she snorted, her tears threatened to run down.
During the month of June, her brain had decomposed psychologically. Lucy had experienced it very badly. So she had sent it all into a tailspin. She had travelled all a night to the exact opposite side of the country, to the home of an old friend of her dead mother's. No one was prepared for this except her father, who would have realized it first, without any problem. The landlady had forbidden him to join her daughter on the phone. Lucy was not happy. She needed space. Finally, Jude came anyway. After 3 weeks of separation. His daughter had seemed calmer to him. If you take into consideration the fact that she had been lying for months. In fact, he thought his daughter was happy, surrounded and loved. Sometimes the truth is not what you see. Her father had decided to stay there for the month of July as well. His friend, Aquarius, agreed, to his surprise. Big discussions between the friend, the parent and the child had followed every night, making sure she was getting better, that she was not asking for anything. A doctor had examined her quickly, prescribing medication for burnout.
Her friends were also confused. Overnight, their blonde had disappeared without a trace. Worry had eaten away at them during their tests. Then everyone finally received a message from Jude to reassure them. Levy had regularly checked in with her friend for all of them and assured the father that she would be able to manage his daughter during the last week of August.
That's where the young woman was at. Confused, ashamed of her "runaway". No one had felt any bitterness, understanding the situation that had haunted her since the death of her mother two years earlier.
The high school had covered up the affair, keeping it only in her private sphere. If other students asked for information, the teachers pretended a major convalescence after a bad illness. No one was duped. But the topic was not reported. Her principal had forced her to work intensely throughout the summer to guarantee her year.
Lucy released her grip on her friend. She wanted to see the other faces. So, understanding her request, they all approached. Erza tapped her on the shoulder. Juvia and Grey hugged her. Lucy apologized many times and they laughed. It was part of the ups and downs of life.
Suddenly, Erza whistled, imitating a snake. The blonde raised her eyebrow and followed her look.
Mirajane Strauss approached.
She represented the student council, being herself a graduate student. Since then, the young woman had been working in the school to help the principal create cohesion. Everyone liked her, but given what had happened, nothing good was coming.
- Lucy, welcome back."
Her white smile revealed itself.
- I would like you to come with me to the school office," she continued. "The principal wants to talk to you."
Lucy felt her legs become liquefied. Her cheeks seemed to be boiling and her bag weighed at least two tons. She was too much stressed. What if we refuse her year? What if the principal decides to fire her? Why did she wanted to leave? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. The tears wished to leave her eyes, she was ready to run in a breath of wind.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed hers. And her thoughts vanished. Mira stared at her with the protective stare of a mother ready to defend her baby. Lucy didn't have time to breathe as the woman pulled her into an hug. Her arms gently surrounded her. The teenager calmed down as the contact continued. A hand slowly brushed her hair. They stayed there for a minute. Her friends didn't dare to add to it for fear of psychologically suffocating her.
Mira stood back and looked at her, seeking her approval to set off. Lucy wiped her nose and shook her head. It was 8 AM. In 30 minutes, a bell would ring. She could then discreetly slip into her classroom. But first she had to see the principal.
Lucy walked in the shadow of her elder. They entered the rectangular school building. The school administration was on the left first floor, separated from the rest by a glass door. Her feet carried her to the last door, which was decorated with a metal sign "MR MAKAROFF". She knocked. A silence. Then an old voice invited her to enter.
The girl opened the door. The room was small and contained a lot of decoration, photos of all sorts. The man was sitting behind her desk, staring at her with folded arms. She didn't dare look at him, deflecting her eyes to the floor. With a trembling hand, she grabbed the guest chair and sat down.
Makarof Draer coughed.
- In view of the present situation," he began. "Above all, I hope that you feel better, your happiness is important to us, but also that you feel ready to accept all our available help."
The student nodded, biting her nails.
- But you will have to work hard to prove to me that you're ready."
- I promise," she stuttered.
Makarof crossed his hands and leaned over the table. He looked even smaller that way.
- Lucy...If you want to talk to someone outside, I'm here for you. Not as a principal, but as a friend of your parents."
She snorted and shook her head a second time. Class was about to start, she had to leave. So she took her bag that had fallen to the ground and got up. Reaching out a hand to her principal, it took the principal a second to think before he served her.
- Welcome back, Miss Heartfilia."
They smiled at each other with a equivalent sincerity and she left.
As she closed the door, she heard the doorbell ring. Shit. Where did she have class? Lucy frowned. She didn't want to be seen on the first day, but she didn't even know which classroom to go to.
Mira saw it. Her body looked as tight as a bow. She approached, immediately understanding what was wrong.
- Lucy, third French room," she said, putting a hand on her shoulder.
The student thanked her and started running. The French room was on the second floor, so she had to hurry.
When she arrived in front of her room, her friends welcomed her a second time with a smile. Erza had even saved a place for her on her left. She chuckled as she saw the ginger woman tapping firmly on her desk, eager to have a talk with her.
But someone pushed her from behind and she stumbled. She was more likely than her collision's companion. He had fallen on the floor. Lucy turned around, ready to help him. Her mouth opened wide, her eyes panicked.
Fuck.
No.
NO.
She felt her heart playing rollercoaster. But she didn't like that either.
Their eyes met and he too choked. He hadn't been warned.
- Ah, he murmured in incredulity.
Both of them swallowed. Almost simultaneously. The bullshit of their summers was in front of them. Natsu. Lucy. What she hadn't been able to make up for. No, her mind had not forgotten. And neither had he.
Oh Damn.
So...yes...another translation... But everybody reads in english on this site, me first. So there you go.
By the way, I'm going to continue this story that seemed complete. I want Erza to be able to speak in a whole chapter.
I'll post the second chapter in a few days in English.
