Mako woke up early like usual. Korra on the other hand, didn't want to get out of bed like usual. At first Mako, like anyone would, assumed it was just Korra being Korra.
"Korra Sweetie, it's time to get up. Tenzin is expecting you over at air temple island today" he told her, gently shaking her again. This resulted in a groan from his girlfriend. "Makooo, I'm tired. Just five more minutes I swear." She said while pulling the blanket up over her head. Mako pulled the blanket off her head and leaned down to push her hair out of her face so he could give her a kiss but stopped when his hand touched her forehead. He pulled back his hand, recoiling on the heat. Consideing her temperature was higher than his, it must've been a pretty bad fever. "Hey, I'll call Tenzin and let him know you're not going today" he said while getting up. Suddenly Korra set up. " Mako, you can't do that. I'm just tired. I'll be ready in a few minutes" She said. Mako gently shoved her back down and shook his head before speaking. "If you didn't feel well, you could have told me. Just lay back down and try to rest while I call Tenzin. I'll be right back." She tried protesting "I'm fine. Just tired." But the truth was that she really didn't feel great and with a few coughs, decided to try to get some rest. Mako slightly smiled at this as he left the room.
"Hello, Tenzin?" He said when the phone was answered.
"Yes, Mako? Is everything alright? Is Korra okay?" Tenzin asked a bit confused.
"Korra's fine. But I think you can agree that it would be better for her to rest today. She's got a fever and I know she doesn't feel good, even if she denys it."
Tenzin thought for a moment.
"Yes, she has never been one to admit when she isn't okay. Please tell her that I hope she feels better and not to worry about today"
"Thank you sir. I will" Mako told him before hanging up and going to get a cool wet cloth.
Mako entered the bedroom to find Korra had went back to sleep. He carefully pressed the back of hand to her head before laying the cool rag on it. She was burning up. Korra slowly opened her tired eyes and looked up at Mako, sighing. "Tenzin said he hoped you feel better." He said while stroking her hair. Korra just moaned "You didn't have to call him. I'm fine. Really I'm okay. Just tired..." She quietly mumbled before closing her eyes again.
A couple hours later Mako decided she should try eating something and brought her some soup and a glass of water. He gently shook her awake. "Korra please eat, you haven't had anything all day and it 2 o'clock already and I have your medicine but you can't take it on an empty stomach." She gave a long sigh before nodding her head and agreeing to eating if Mako would feed her. After she ate she pulled Mako into bed with her. "Korra, you need rest." He said with a slight chuckle. "I will if you lay with me" she insisted. He gave in and she curled up next to him.

After laying in bed for a half hour, Korra fell back asleep. Mako decided to try and sleep as well after changing the cloth on her forehead.. When he awoke it was to Korra jumping from the bed and stumbling into the bathroom to heave into the toilet and Mako followed to make sure she was okay before leading her back to bed and tucking her back in afterwards.
The next morning Mako woke up first to find Korra covered in sweat. He quickly reached over and check her temperature. When he pressed his hand against her forehead he smiled. Her fever seemed to have broke so she should finally be feeling better. He smiled and rolled back over, decided to let her get more sleep.
