Chapter 4

James and Sirius sprinted back to the Gryffindor common room as fast as their legs could take them. They didn't dare to look back.

"What's got you two looking like you peed your pants?" Remus's voice called out before they could reach the Fat Lady. He was full-blown laughing when they turned to face him, but immediately stopped when he saw how scared they were. The two boys had ashen faces and their hands were trembling badly.

"We-we were giving Snivellus what he deserved," James said with a trembling voice. "And then Harry Jameson, the new Hufflepuff, comes out of nowhere."

"You remember how he beat Bellatrix in Defense. Most of his pranks hit her and you could see the hate in his eyes when he cast the stunner. I could have sworn he hissed at her." Sirius managed to utter. "His magic was crazy. I've never seen anything like it, even when Grandfather Arcturus got mad."

Sirius came from a dark pureblood family so he had a fair share of threats to his life, but he had never felt so stripped down and absolutely terrified in his life. He and James had watched Jameson talk almost trance-like. The way he talked about magic was enticing, but you could clearly see how much he hated the Dark Lord. He also had a grudge against Dumbledore, okay maybe more than a grudge, but it made him question his beliefs.

Remus was shocked. He had seen him before, even walking lost Slytherins back to their common room, who knows how he knows where it is, and being nice to every single person he came across. He always answered questions the teachers asked and he had even seen him doing homework with Lily in the library.

Remus responded. "But he's like an angel, I've never seen him raise his voice at anyone. Even when Bellatrix was taunting him, he just talked calmly back to her."

"You know how we couldn't see Snivillus after he took our wands?" Sirius asked James. James nodded at him and he continued.

"I saw no wand in his hands when he did it which meant he was disillusioned wandlessly. He has powerful magic." Remus listened with his eyes wide.

"We are starting the dueling tournament next week." All the fifth, sixth and seventh years were at the edges of their seats. "It will be done in divisions per year. After one student is chosen per year, the fifth year will go against the sixth year. And the winner will go against the seventh year. The winner will try to duel a teacher, which will be a surprise." Professor Thornen told the class. "Now I will assign a schedule for when the classes will duel. You are dismissed."

The students all shuffled out of the Defense classroom, their minds busy with the upcoming tournament.

Harry was struggling to keep moving through his classes. He barely got any sleep at night, courtesy of his nightmares, and he was spending a lot of his time helping and tutoring little kids not only because he knew that they would be thankful for his help, but it took his mind off of the war. If anyone could see under his glamour, they would have seen his sunken eyes and dark purple eye bags. He lost even more weight because he wasn't eating very much. The stress and the memories were taking a toll on his body. Yesterday, he ran into his mum and was so shocked he paled and stumbled so hard she had to catch him.

"Ah, Harry my boy, how have you been?" Dumbledore's voice cut through his thoughts and Harry had to hide a grimace. He really didn't have time nor energy to talk to the old man. He looked up at his twinkling eyes and took perverse pleasure in watching his smile falter at his face.

"I've been well, Professor," Harry replied, with his mask in place and his occlumency shields on high preparing for Dumbledore's mind attacks. He immediately felt pressure at his forehead and kicked him out.

"It would be nice Professor, for someone to ask a question, not dig in someone's head for them." Harry sneered his eyes like green chips of ice. Dumbledore looked abashed and used his grandfatherly voice while his eyes betrayed his astonishment at Harry being able to take him out of his mind. "My apologies, my boy, I hope you have a nice day." Harry nodded back and Dumbledore quickly turned and walked away from him as fast as he could while preserving his dignity.

Dumbledore's mind was running at high speeds. This boy already knew Occlumency and he looked just like Tom other than his brilliant jade eyes. He was excelling in every single class and he seemed to just disappear from the wards from time to time. Who is he and what is he doing in Hogwarts? Dumbledore quickly made his way to his office to make a fire call.

"Ah, Alastar, I require your assistance. Would you come through the fire, please? This will only take a moment." Dumbledore stepped back from the fireplace and watched as the younger version of the Auror stepped through the flames.

"Wotcher Albus. What d'you need help with today. Right now is bleedin hectic for the Aurors 'cause You-Know-Who's waltzing through Britain and killing who he likes, acting like he owns it." he said with a growl.

Albus gave his understanding grandfatherly smile. "I have a… peculiar student in our midst. He showed up the day of the welcoming feast, looking dead, but they checked his pulse and found it barely there, but still there. After Poppy washed him up and he woke up, Alastor… his eyes. They were the sharpest, most deadly color of green you could think of, but they were hollow. He looked like he had gone through war." Albus's first look at him made his breath catch. He could see the pain and anguish in his eyes. He could remember victims from Grindelwald's reign, them breaking from the glossy unseeing eyes of their loved ones.

"Is he acting up or something? Have you pulled me here to listen to your woes?" Moody snarked. Dumbledore just ignored him.

"Alastar, if you are okay with it, can you take over for my Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, just for a week or two, and check him up with your eye? I know you are great at your job, but just keep this as Order work." Dumbledore asked. Moody seemed to think about it for a few seconds.

"Fine, fine, I'll watch this bloody kid for you, but you're going to have to ask Thornen. You owe me one Albus." Moody said before flooing out. In the now silent room, Dumbledore gave a sad sigh.

The buzz of a stunner was projected at him from behind. From instinct, Harry threw up a wandless shield. He turned around and saw Mad-Eye and involuntarily gave a hard flinch. Remembering the imposter Moody, Barty Crouch Jr., now sitting on the other side of the classroom, he scratched his arm in phantom pain as he remembered the ritual that gave the dark wanker a body back. Following his lead, the rest of the class saw that it was not their teacher. Harry saw the respect in his eyes when he blocked his stunner, and relaxed the tiniest bit. Unknown to him, Moody immediately zoomed into his arm he scratched with his eye, thinking that he had the Dark Mark.

"Sit down. I am Alastor Moody. Professor Thornen asked me to take over for a couple of days because he had to take care of his personal business. Let's see, you have an upcoming duel, am I right?" the class nodded along. "Well what better way to prepare than to duel," he said with a grin and immediately called up a Slytherin to duel with him. "No unforgivables, no spells that cause irreversible damage or death. Once you are disarmed, you lose. If you little buggers can't stand a little pain and humiliation, you will never survive the world out there. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!" He roared at the class and everyone but Harry jumped because he was too busy trying not to laugh at how similar this Moody was to the one he knew.

He threw up a dueling ward and started the duel with the student. He clearly started easy, which caused the Slytherin to get cocky and started sending spell after spell in fast repetition, but Moody just dodged all of them. A well placed stunner and he was down. He alternated between the two houses, taking them down as quickly as the ones before. Harry watched him beat James Potter by freezing him at the feet and just as easily to Rudolphus Lestrange, ropes tightly coiled around his body, struggling to get loose before Moody disarmed him. The one student that gave him as good as they got was Lily Evans. The was creative as she was smart about it. However, she relied on her shields too much and moody took her out after blasting her shield into nothing.

"Harry Jameson." Moody's voice cut out from his daydreaming. Harry slowly walked up to the platform, watching Moody very carefully. "Hurry up kid, I don't have all day to watch you strut to the front of the class," he said, watching him just as calculating and the class snickered in the background. Harry gave him a slight nod in the head and gave a bow to start the duel. Moody did the same for him like everyone else, letting them become too confident, but Harry knew him better than anyone else in that room. Harry copied his movement, aimlessly sent pranks and badly aimed disarming spells to him, a small smile playing at his lips at how ridiculous it was. Without notice, Moody changed the tide of the duel, sending a blazing fast stunner. Harry forgot the classroom around, already feeling the adrenaline rush that accompanied him when he dueled. He couldn't really call it dueling because that wasn't how he won. Harry fought. Moody's eyes widened when Harry sent obscure spells he found in the Chamber that Salazar made to mess with Godric.

One of the biggest reasons Harry was so enraged about the hostility between Slytherins and Gryffindors was because they created it themselves. They all claim that Slytherins was evil and that he had a big fight with the founders all because he hated "mudbloods", but they were all like brothers and sisters. Mudblood has a completely different meaning because it meant born from the earth, as these were new witches and wizards that were the first of their family line to be gifted with magic. From his journals, Salazar himself was called "mudblood". The term had been changed over the years by witches and wizards down his line until the worst of them all, the Gaunts. The only reason Slytherin was hostile toward muggles was because of the witch hunts that were taking place. It wasn;t a big problem for matured wizards, but often these people hunted children, even his own daughter.

Augamenti Harry sent silently, drenching Moody in water. Moody almost slipped, but he kept going. He tried to send ropes at him, but Harry burned them before they could reach him. Moody had to stay on the offensive because of how powerful Harry's spells were. Harry sent a low powered lighting spell at the water which caused Moody to get shocked. Harry summoned Moody's wand away from him, giving a small victory smile.

The room was absolutely silent and the forgotten audience around him immediately started cheering and Harry realized he was the only one that beat Moody. He looked back over at him and saw the awe on his face, but still calculating look in his eyes. He gave him a bow, his wand back, and went to go sit back down.

"Now that was a good duel. Good luck to you little buggers because the world will kick your asses." The Slytherins grumbled at this, but they all had a newfound respect for the Auror. "Jameson, stay after. Class is over, leave."

Harry waited silently, though his hand was ready to flick his wand out if he needed it. "You are very good at defense. Where did you learn those spells?" Moody inquired.

"Oh just here and there," Harry replied with a shrug. Now's the chance to see if this glamour will stand up to his eye. Moody sent a Finite and his legilimency probe at the same time. Harry expected it so he hooked on to Moody's probe and skimmed his mind without him knowing while he tried to get past Harry's mind shields.

When Moody left his mind he saw Harry staring at him with a bored face. "Having fun trying to get inside my head?" he said with a degrading tone. "So, what does Dumbledore want to know?" Moody froze.

"How do you know?" he snarled. Moody's inner thoughts were raging in panic because the boy could not have know that Albus asked him to watch this kid. He bested him without even breaking a sweat and he had topped number one in the Auror class.

"I didn't but you just confirmed it." Harry said, pretending as though he hadn't just seen his conversation in Dumbledore's office.

Harry got up and walked to the door. "And be careful with your fire chicken party, I would hate for you to lose a leg, yeah?" Harry said and immediately left. He could hear Moody's cursing from outside the door that would make a pirate blush.
