Chapter 5
Walking out of the classroom, Harry thought hard about his time in the past. He needed to get rid of the horcruxes and actually get to Voldemort in order to kill him. How much could he really change. Hermione would blow her top if she ever found out. Then she'd go into a frenzy and insist she get the chance to study it all. He truly missed his friends and didn't realize how much he relied on them until they were gone.
A soft humming broke Harry out of his thoughts. He looked over to his left and stumbled out of shock. A beautiful girl with moon white hair and a serene smile on her face bounded toward where Harry was standing. When her face turned to meet him, Harry's mask dropped and he gasped.
"L-Luna?" Harry asked softly, not believing his eyes. The girl giggled and continued to skip toward him. "No you silly, I am Pandora. Luna is my daughter." When she stood right in front of Harry, he could see the difference between the two. While Luna had soft silver eyes, Pandora had piercing blue ones that seemed to penetrate his soul. Harry realized that he had been staring and quickly snapped out of it.
"My apologies Pandora, you just seemed like someone I knew." She gave him a small smile. "It's okay, I know you don't belong at this time. Don't give up hope, they are coming." Harry gaped at her and with that last omniscient saying, she skipped lightly down the corridor. Harry didn't even move until he realized she was already long gone.
Walking dazely to the Great Hall, he mutedly ate his dinner. Blinding light flashed in the Great Hall and the students screamed out of fear. Two people materialized in between the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff tables, wands out and covered in blood and dirt. Harry had a front row view of them and his wand was in his hand before the light had died off. The hall was completely silent with all the teacher's wands pointed at the intruders. Harry blinked the white spots out of his eyes and his jaw dropped.
"Bloody hell" a familiar voice called out in the silence. Harry came face to face with his brother and sister in everything but blood. When they turned to face Harry, their wands immediately shot to their hands, their faces in fear and shock. Harry dropped the glamour over his eyes because he knew they would recognize them and the three of them stared at one another in incredulity until Dumbledore's voice broke them from their stupor.
"Who are you?" he demanded fiercely, his magic flaring, piercing blue eyes boring holes into the two people who materialized in the Great Hall.
They could respect his power, showing why Albus Dumbledore was to be feared, but they still hated him with a passion. Hermione swiftly turned to face him and gave him an icy glare that Snape could only wish he could replicate.
"Chamber, now." Harry said before Hermione could get a word out. They met his eye before leaving through the side doors in the Great Hall, dismissing Dumbledore's loud protests for them to stop.
(flashback)
"Mate, what are we going to do, Dumbledore's gone." Ron said softly. Hermione could only shake her head in silence, tears threatening to fall. Walking back from Hagrid's when they finished their sixth year exams, the trio felt sick, pain rivaling the cruciatus burned through their bodies, their blood of fire. After almost blacking out from the amount of magic lifting from their minds, memories immediately started flashing before their eyes and they stared at one another in disbelief until Ron found his voice.
"Does this mean that I didn't actually turn my back on you in fourth year and Dumbledore spelled me to? Ron said growled, his anger simmering beneath his skin. Before he could continue, Hermione butt in.
"HE FUCKING MANIPULATED US! THE BASTARD!" Hermione screamed, scaring the birds in their vicinity. Ron gaped at her because they had never heard her swear before. They both turned towards Harry and they both took a step back because of what they saw.
An emerald glow was pulsating off of him, rippling through his hair, but the breathtaking part was his eyes, glaring murderously at the sky. Harry's mouth twisted into a chilling smirk and gave off a cackle, eerily similar to Bellatrix's.
"He knew exactly what my life was like at the Dursleys. He took my godfather from me. He took my friends and my life." Harry said in a monotonous voice, his face still in an unnerving smile. Ron and Hermione gave each other uncertain glances, not knowing what to do with this side of Harry. Harry continued on his smile fading into one filled with rage, "He paid them to beat me until I was bleeding raw, and even encouraged it. He made Sirius fall into the veil because he knew he was teaching me darker spells and voicing his distrust in Dumbledore. He obliviated us when he found us learning darker spells and that his "tool" was no longer under his control." He gave off a giggle and the two of them were starting to worry.
Harry gave an insane smile, eyes lighting up with unadulterated glee. "I am going to destroy him, dead body or not." He finished, quickly turning around. Ron's quick thinking had Harry stunned him before he could obliterate half of Hogwarts while Hermione could only gape at the hidden side of Harry.
She knew he was not light as everyone saw him to be, but she didn't realize how close he was to losing himself. That thought led her back to the source which was Dumbledore and her eyes filled with so much fury that she was trembling with the need to obliterate something but Harry needed her right now. After the stunning spell hit the mark and Harry fell limp to the ground, Ron quickly scooped up his much too light body, his bones felt clearly through his robes.
"We need somewhere to go. Now." Ron said quickly, close to panicking, and Hermione thought for a moment before calling Dobby.
"Miss Grangy called again, how can Dobby help?" he asked, bouncing with excitement until his eyes landed on Harry. His face became sad, but it quickly turned serious. "Master Harry is strong." Dobby said strongly. "He is suffering, but he will be better." he said with such conviction that Ron and Hermione felt that they could believe it too. They both took note that he had called Harry, Master, but decided to discuss that later.
"Dobby, do you have a place we can go where we won't be disturbed and help Harry get better?" Ron asked anxiously as the sun set in the distance.
"Oh yes, Dobby knows the place to go, the Come and Go Room. We elves use that room, but many students don't know about it." he said, bouncing on his feet. "All you need to do is walk past the wall next to the statue of the trolls, thinking about the place you want it to be."
They breathed a sigh of relief and quickly made their way to the 7th floor of Hogwarts, using passageways to avoid teachers. When Hermione did what Dobby said, a door appeared and they tentatively stepped through only to be greeted by a complete infirmary stock of potions and 3 comfortable beds on one side and shelves filled with books on the other.
"No room is complete for you without books" Ron deadpanned, and Hermione huffed in his direction, but he could see the amusement in her eyes. Her face immediately turned serious as she levitated Harry toward a bed. "We should just let him sleep, knowing how bad our… revelations were. I can barely imagine what Harry is going through." Ron nodded sadly and headed to the two other beds, but neither could fall asleep. They talked quietly through the night, exchanging missing memories and what they would do now while also keeping an eye on their best friend.
After Harry woke up that morning, including a throbbing headache, Harry encountered every missing memory and what he found out to Ron and Hermione and at the end of it, they were all fuming. They became closer than they already were and started training. Dobby was a godsend, learning that Harry had actually become his new master after he freed him from the Malfoys. He practically became their keeper, bringing them food, helping them keep a schedule, and forcing them to get some rest.
Coming up with places to meet after they found out how much meddling Dumbeldore did was actually harder than they thought, but they came up with the Chamber of Secrets, along with the Room of Requirement. They spent a week cleaning out the chamber because of how long it had been out of use. Because of how cold the chamber was, the Basilisk was perfectly preserved so they ended up selling it and getting a nice price of 3 million galleons. They even saved some to make their very own armour. When discovering the Chamber, they discovered many other entrances around the school that didn't need parseltongue to open and those were much nicer than an abandoned girl's bathroom. Hermione fell into heaven when she found the library and had to be forced to eat lunch as she would forget their world around her with the ancient tomes surrounding her. Ron could be found spending hours in Salazar's training room and learning how to use his affinity with strategizing for the war. They used the time-turned there religiously and after learning everything Salazar's secret chamber had to offer, they became well-verse in all magic, light, dark, and grey. If anyone saw them, they would no longer be called the "Golden Trio" because they found out they all had Grey cores, coincidence, maybe, maybe not.
(end flashback)
Going separate ways into the chamber, Harry got there the quickest and met with a confused Basilisk. He told her the situation quickly and she gave a quick nod and left. Ron and Hermione burst through and they hugged like the world was ending. They ended up in a pile on the chamber floor, crying out of relief of seeing one another again.
"HARRY JAMES POTTER!" Hermione screamed with tears running down her face. "NEVER EVER DO THAT AGAIN!" she screamed and burst into tears again. Ron continued off where she left off.
"Mate, why would you give yourself up." he asked emotionally, "the last thing we saw was Voldemort walking up to Hogwarts, your dead body in Hagrid's arms. He told us you were dead." Ron's voice hitched as he finished.
Harry let his gaze fall to the floor, "Hermione, you know how Voldemort wanted 7 parts of his soul and what not; the diary, the ring, the locket, the cup, the diadem, and Nagini?" They nodded and he continued. "He made eight parts of his soul." Hermione's head shot up.
"No, no, no, no, no" Hermione panicked, "not that, please tell me you're not saying what I think you're saying." When she finished, the blood drained from Ron's confused face. He shot up to his feet and grabbed Harry's head to get a closer look at his scar. "That bastard really did that." Ron growled, "Is it gone?" Harry nodded and they let go of the breath they didn't know they were holding.
Harry told them what was happening. "We are in the past, 1977 to be exact, and Dumbledore is just as infuriating as always, but I got to beat Moody in defense when he came in to spy on me." Their eyes wided, but then Ron gave a chuckle. "You're in the past with your parents" Ron's face lit up, "OH and the little greasy git," they all laughed because of how excited Ron looked, "and all you care about is beating Mad-eye in defense?" Harry wiggled his finger in Ron's face, "It is obviously the most important thing, shame that you thought differently." Hermione gave a light giggle. "I missed this." she sighed and they both nodded in agreement.
Hermione's face turned thoughtful. "There isn't a way to get back to our time?" she asked, and Harry immediately shot back, "you want to go back to that hell? Here, we start on a clean slate, no boy-who-lived or a freckled weasel blood-traitor or a know-it-all mudblood. We could get rid of Voldemort so much faster because he has no clue who we are."
"Oi'' Ron yelled and they all laughed, but they agreed with what Harry said. Hermione got up and started inspecting his body, making sure it was okay. "Harry, you're too skinny! Are you even sleeping? I swear i'm going to bring Dobby here just so he can get you to eat and sleep because I know you have a soft spot for hi-" she said at a rapid fire speed.
"Fineeeee, I'm going to." Harry moaned whimsically and they shared a laugh long overdue.
Harry heard the rustling of the Basilisk coming back from the forest and his eyes opened wide in panic.
"Um guys…" they all turned toward Harry with questioning expressions. Harry messed with his hair, he always did when he was nervous, "There might be a basilisk in here."
It was silent for two beats.
"WHAT?" they yelled simultaneously. Harry threw his hands up.
"I made good friends with her. She isn't dangerous." He quickly told them a short version of what Belleza had told him.
"Well now that we are all here, how about we make Dumblefuck's life living hell and get rid of the dark wanker?" Harry asked with a smirk and Hermione gave a disgusted face. "I'm gonna have to restrain myself from cursing him to an inch of his life because of how much he hurt you." she scowled and Harry immediately sobered. "We can take care of that after we kill Voldemort because he is still useful." He donned a scary smirk, "Dear Rita will be so useful for destroying his reputation because we know exactly where his skeletons lie." They snickered and left to face the headmaster.
They took their precious time walking toward Dumbledore's office not only because they knew it would piss him off, but they revered the beauty of Hogwarts. When they reached the door, they realized that they didn't know the password.
"Uh, lemon drops, laffy taffy, snicker, droobles, berti-'' Harry started, naming off sweets.
"Stop Harry, you're making a fool of yourself. If either of you would just read Hogwarts a History." Hermione said with a roll of the eye but they were dancing in laughter.
"Gargoyle, may we please see the headmaster." she asked kindly and it jumped to the side to let them past. Harry's mouth dropped and Ron laughed at him. They walked up the revolving stairs toward their least favorite place, the headmaster's office.
