Chapter 6
Walking up the stairs to the Headmaster's office, Harry quickly threw up his strongest silencing spell and turned toward the two. "Make up a fake name, now. I'm Harry Jameson. Ron, you look too much like a Weasley and if you send me what you want to look like, I can change it for you as a parsel spell so the old coot can't dispel or see through it. I'll introduce you two" Harry said as he turned toward Hermione, "and you say something that makes sense for you two to turn up in the Great Hall. And please, make it real." Harry quickly made Ron have brown hair with freckles. If no one was wiser, Hermione and he could pass as siblings.
"Come on in." Dumbledore's voice called out and the silencing charm went down. "Ah, our mysterious arrivals and you two might be?"
"Headmaster, these are my close friends from our old school, as I had already told you got destroyed by death eaters," Harry told him calmly. Hermione knew this was her cue and started talking. "H-headmaster, we don't know how we are here. We just wanted to go where Harry was because he was taken about a month ago. Please, we were caught between these men in black robes and white masks. It was so s-scary!" Hermione said, bursting into crocodile tears. Ron walked over to "comfort" her, his own shoulders shaking from barely restrained laughter.
"Please sir, let us have somewhere to stay, we have no family other than each other left," Ron said softly, and Dumbledore fell for their lies. He sent a probe at Ron's mind and if he was looking at his eyes, he would have seen the pure malice in them. Ron gave false memories and he was none the wiser. Harry mentally patted them on the back because it was impressive how realistic they made it.
"Of course, you may be students at Hogwarts with your friend here. May I ask for your names?" Dumbledore inquired.
"I'm Ronald Granger and this is my sister, Jean Granger," Ron said, and Dumbledore nodded. "Very well, I am guessing that the two of you don't have supplies so I will offer you some old Hogwarts clothes, but the next Hogsmead visit is coming up soon so I expect you will be buying your own clothes." They nodded, Hermione wiping her tears away.
"Now, to have you two sorted."
The three of them met each other's gazes and Hermione walked up first. The hat was placed over her head, covering her eyes. After a couple of seconds, RAVENCLAW rang out in the office. Ron went up next and the same process went again but the difference was that the hat called out GRYFFINDOR. He gave them nods and let them go.
As the three time-travelers left his office, Dumbledore watched them carefully, pondering their existence. Three appearances at Hogwarts in a place that can't be apparated into. Even though the green-eyed boy looked like one students that went wrong, they can't be bad people, can they?
He felt a shiver go down his spine when he finished his thoughts.
'Please don't let this be a dream', Harry thought as he woke up the next morning. He looked to his left and saw his two best friends sleeping peacefully in the early morning and he sighed in relief and happiness. Pandora's words replayed through his mind and a small smile came to his face. Mother like daughter.
He got up from the bedroom in the Chamber to get ready for the day.
"GET UP MY RAVEN AND GRIFFIN!" Harry yelled, waking them up traditionally with a douse of ice-cold water, which had him dodging stinging hexes. They all got dressed and met in the sitting room, also known as Salazar's office.
"I didn't tell you two everything yesterday because there just wasn't enough time, but no time like the present," Harry said and they listened. He told them about meeting his parents, Bellatrix, Snape getting bullied, getting sorted into Hufflepuff which they laughed at, and everything else that could have happened in the last month. Hermione had conjured a muggle notepad with a ballpoint pen to write down everything to keep their stories straight and had started a to-do list.
"Honestly Harry, I am not surprised you got into Hufflepuff, but I am surprised you didn't get into Slytherin," Hermione told him.
"Oh, the sorting hat gave me the chance to change the future-" he said but was swiftly cut off.
"NO, you know what happens with people that mess with time. You can't, there must be another reason." Hermione said frantically. She had used a time-turner her third-year of Hogwarts and Professor McGonagal had instilled the rule that and the consequences of a paradox.
"I swear to you Hermione, his exact words were, "You are given this chance in the past, do not waste it." I even talked to Sal and he reiterated the point that we are in the past for a reason." Harry told her. "Please, Mia, I can't watch my parents die again," he said, pleading, and even Hermione could not resist.
"Fine." she bit out a bit too harshly, as harry's eyes fell, "no, I don't mean it like that, I'm just scared that we will do something irreversible. If something happens to use what if we disappear or something?" She fretted.
"Relax Mia, Sal said that the timeline that we came from has ended so anything we do has already created a completely new timeline," Harry reassured her.
"What better time to cause chaos" Ron smirked and it was mirrored by the three of them.
At midnight, the trio met at the Room of Requirement. Their goal was to retrieve the Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw. Walking through the familiar mounds of forgotten items, they quickly made their way to the bust that held the lost tiara.
"The Diadem of Ravenclaw" Hermione breathed. The gems shimmered in the light, but it came off jagged rather than beautiful. The dark soul magic reeked off of the jewel, making their skin feel tainted around it.
"Damn him for ruining everything," Harry said sadly. He pulled out the basilisk venom from his pouch and had Ron and Hermione back up with shields ready. He took a slow, foreboding walk toward the diadem and poured the black poison over the ancient treasure. The second the acid touched it, a roaring shriek echoed around the room
"GET DOWN!" Ron yelled but it was too late as Harry was forcefully thrown away from the rising black mist. A cold chill ran through all of them and the dark magic surrounding them made it hard to breathe. After a couple of seconds, the wail died away and the three of them sat on the ground gasping for air.
"Well, that went well," Ron said in a soft chuckle, trying to diffuse the tension in the room.
"Yes, a pounding headache is definitely going well." Harry deadpanned and Hermione snorted before she passed him a vial of pain-reliever. Harry groaned in relief.
"Done and done. Let's hope that he has not made the locket and cup Horcrux. We will get there when we find out if Regulus Black has offered Kreacher and whenever he gives the damn thing to Bellabitch." Hermione snarled.
"Fingers crossed that it's just the diary left. Oh, two is so much better than seven Horcruxes." Harry said.
Over the next weeks, the trio caught much attention from students and teachers for excelling beyond standards in all the classes they took. As the first of October came, the event everyone was waiting for began: the dueling tournament.
"For our seventh year brackets, we have decided that all is fair game barring the three unforgivable, the imperius, the cruciatus, and the killing curse, and anything that will permanently incapacitate." Everyone looked worriedly around the room as the Slytherins gave smug smirks with the new rule.
"Our first bracket for the dueling tournament will be Marlene McKinnon against Alecto Carrow." The two girls scowled at each other.
"Next up, Sirius Black and Barty Crouch Jr." Harry glared at him, not wanting his godfather to go against the man who sent him to Voldemort's resurrection.
"Hey, if he does anything fishy, we are going to be right here," Ron reassured him. Harry gave him a nod of thanks.
"James Potter against Amelia Bones." Harry knew cow good Madam Bones was in the future and he could see the determination to beat his father in her eyes. A smirk formed on his face. That round would sure be an interesting one to watch.
"Next we have Ron Granger facing Antonin Dolohov" At hearing this, Ron gave him a dark smile in memory of his fifth year, Harry's description of him slicing his Hermione's chest open, the effects of Snape's special sectumsempra still made his blood boil to this day.
"Bellatrix Black and Jean Granger" Hermione went still in her seat. She turned slowly to see Bellatrix wearing a sinister grin. She mouthed "mudblood" at her when their eyes met. Hermione only raised an eyebrow at her.
"And for our final group will be Severus Snape versus Harry Jameson." Harry's eyes widened in surprise before he schooled his features and turned towards Snape only to see fear in his eyes even though his face didn't betray him. Harry reeled back in shock because he didn't know what caused Snape to fear him.
Ron and Hermione turned to look at Harry because he wasn't known to make sudden movements like that unless frightened.
"Snape, he's... scared of me," Harry said with a baffled look on his face. Hermione gave him a look that said try again but Harry gave her the I'm dead serious face. Her eyes widened and looked over at Snape. He saw her head turn and gave an ugly sneer.
"Well, he doesn't act like that towards me, did you do something to him?" Harry pondered on what she said and the memory of him confronting Potter and Black came to his mind.
"Ahhhh, maybe I did do something like that. I sort of let my magic get away with itself because I was tired and everything. I saw my dad and Sirius taunting and bullying Snape and I sort of intervened." he said with a sheepish expression.
"Oh, Harry's hero-complex strikes again," Ron said, his voice filled with mirth. Harry shot him a glare which he only got a snigger in return.
Flitwick called up the first bracket and the duels began. The first duel went by quickly, they were not great duellers, but they sure did hate one another. Mckinnon was defeated at the end, but she held her ground for most of it. The next, Sirius Black against Barty Crouch Jr. was much more dangerous. Whether it was because of the Slytherin-Gryffindor feud or not, the two men fought with everything. Sirius clearly showed his family roots even though he dissociated with the Black family name. Using black family spells that the trio recognized from their use of the library from their stay in number 12 Grimmauld place, Sirius crushed his opposition in a matter of minutes. Watching his father duel was eye-opening. Harry had not expected his father to be as good as he was currently displaying. The two, Potter and Bones, were equally matched, both firing lethal spells, but neither getting close. While Bones was good at dodging and Potter not, his aim was frighteningly accurate, each nearly grazing as she tried to dodge and stay on the offensive. As her opponent did not have the flair of avoiding most spells, James Potter went down with a stunner clipping his knee.
Ron went next against Dolohov. He went all out as he viciously batted away all of his spells and sent a cutter to his chest that ripped through his shield to match the one he gave to Hermione. The snarl on his face stayed even after the duel ended.
"I hate him so much and I wish I sent that cutter to his neck instead," he growled. Harry just patted him on the back because he knew it was pointless to argue. After all, he felt the same way.
"Ms. Bellatrix Black and Jean Granger." The two women walked up toward the dueling pad, one face twisted with a dark smirk and the other cold and calculating.
"Mudblood bitch" Bellatrix whispered harshly but Hermione just smiled. That insult was so old it barely bothered her anymore. Her reaction only seemed to cause Bellatrix more anger and she snarled in her face.
"At the ready" Professor Flitwick called out. "BEGIN!" he squeaked and the crowd was not ready for the magic thrown across the room by the two very powerful women.
They threw everything at each other, broth proficient at annihilating their opponents. Even Professor Flitwick was starting to look worried. Harry and Ron watched with pride as they saw Hermione gave her everything and more to crush her. They growled at each other as lethal magic narrowly grazed one another.
"INCENDIO" Bellatrix screamed. Flames erupted from the wand, lighting the entire platform up in flames. Ron gripped Harry's hand like a lifeline as Hermione had nowhere to go. What shocked everyone into silence was that Hermione just calmly walked through the fire, her hair blazing around her face like an inferno, golden magic lighting up her warm chocolate eyes to a smoldering amber. She greedily drank in the shock on Bellatrix's face as she sent a lightning-fast version of fiendfyre Harry and Ron recognized as her own invention that created the black fire that could only be put out by a certain counter-curse. The flames danced around the now surrounded girl, burning her hands and feet making her stumble. Hermione canceled the flames right before they would cause serious burns.
"If you play with fire, baby Bella," Hermione said in a sickly sweet voice, "you're going to get... burned." she finished with a malevolent smile. With no time to defend herself, Hermione shot spell after spell at Bellatrix that she learned from the Chamber of Secrets. Without knowing what these spells were, Flitwick could not judge whether they were too lethal. With curses to slowly peel her skin from the cuticles, Hermione got the upper hand as she ripped Bellatrix's wand from her hand and took a page out of Ginny's book and shot a mean bat-bogey hex at her and took vindictive pleasure in her howl of pain.
Hermione shot a body-bind curse at her and silenced the area around her, making sure that she could not repeat what she was about to say to her. She slowly walked towards her like a predator stalking its prey.
"That was for Neville and the Lupins." she snarled in her ear, " You ripped Nev's family apart. You killed Professor Lupin and Nym and they will never see Teddy grow up. I have waited for this day to make you pay." she canceled the silencing charm and walked confidently off the platform, content with the satisfaction of revenge to ignore the silence. Bellatrix had a running streak of never being beaten, especially never by a "mudblood".
The shock left the students and they went crazy in their seats, cheering for her as if she had won an Order of Merlin first class. Hermione's face flushed in her, but Harry and Ron's approving smiles were the best award she got. Harry got up and she gave him a wink for good luck. Harry's mouth twitched as he tried not to laugh and quickly got up to the platform. His expression closed up as he met Severus Snape's gaze.
"Duellers, take your marks." While Snape tensed in anticipation, Harry stood calmly in the middle of the platform, no wand drawn. Snape frowned at this, clearly expecting him to at least be prepared.
"BEGIN!" Professor Flitwick called out and Snape wasted no time in firing spells. Harry had to admit that Snape was good. He clearly had experience dueling and had quite a large spell repertoire, but Harry didn't play fair. He played to win. Harry silently waved his wand and a mist spread out from where Harry was standing. Snape stood alert, wand drawn, ready for an ambush. Harry decided to be vindictive and scare him shitless as revenge for the years of torment he had put him through at Hogwarts.
.:Ssseveruss:. Harry hissed out menacingly. Terror overtook the boy's face, his hands starting to shake in fear. Harry had to press his lips together to stop himself from laughing. He could clearly see Ron and Hermione on the side, eyes wide open, gawking as Harry put on the show.
He must have been heard because Snape yelled "Incarcerous!" though coming out higher-pitched than usual. Harry sidestepped the bindings and sent his own spells back. Harry conjured sand in front of Snape's feet and threw a blasting curse at it causing sand to fly into his eyes and mouth. He wasted no time and sent a jelly-legs jinx and a stunner, but Snape was able to throw up a shield. Harry threw blasting curses at the shield and as it fell, Harry threw a stunner at the boy. He walked over to enervate him.
"Good job," he said sincerely. Snape glowered at him but muttered out a thanks. Harry's lips twitched in amusement and went to go join Ron and Hermione.
"Did you really hiss at him?" Hermione asked. She had a disapproving look on her face but her eyes shone with laughter.
"He deserved it, the greasy git. Even though he loved my mother, he could at least not greet me every time by comparing me to James." Harry said with a roll of his eye.
Hermione had gotten away from Harry and Ron when they went out to play Quidditch and she was enjoying the library where she deemed her corner. Lost in the nostalgia and the musky smell of parchment around her, she was unaware of her assailant until she heard the incantation for the stunning spell and she fell into darkness.
Slowly waking up, she could feel herself chained to a cold stone wall, water dripping around her. The heavy breaths of those around her caused her to panic, but she threw up her Occlumency to kept her cool. Opening her eyes the tiniest bit, she found herself surrounded by Rosier, the Carrow twins, Dolohov, Mulciber, and her absolute favorite, Bellatrix Black.
Bellatrix threw the first curse which caused Hermione to gasp at the pain. "Wake up, you filthy little mudblood" her face twisted into pleasure as she inflicted wounds onto her body. The boys standing around her stripped Hermione of her clothes, hungry looks reflected on each of her faces. "Oh I can't wait to break this body," Dolohov breathed out in exhilaration.
'Please don't be real, I've been through so much, and this is the one that will break me.' She whispered fervently to herself as one of the members in the circle cast the cruciatus on her. She tried to hold in the scream but it was naught. It went on forever and when he let off the spell, she was left panting, her body spasming on the wall. With no warning, another threw a spell and she felt her chest rip open, pain overloading her senses.
"The mudblood thought she was so clever." Bellatrix cackled, "Pure blood will ALWAYS BE ELITE! Our Lord has said so and he will bring a new era to the wizarding world." she said with a dreamy expression.
"Crucio" the deranged woman spat out and piercing pain from the curse racked through her body. The pain finally left and Hermione spit out the blood at Bellatrix which had pooled in her mouth from biting her tongue to not cry out from the agony.
"Like a half-blood snake face bastard will never be more than a little child throwing a tantrum because mummy and daddy didn't love him." she rasped.
The unhinged expression returned to her face. She pulled out a cursed silver knife and walked slowly up to the shaking girl. "Hopefully this should leave a… mark. Now you will know that muddy blood like yours will never be more than vermin in this world." Bellatrix said as she teased the silver knife on her skin, pulling beads of blood onto her pale, clammy skin. She started carving into her arm.
Hermione couldn't figure out what the awful sounds were coming from and prayed for it to stop. With terror-strickening certainty, she realized that it was herself, her screams echoing around the stone walls.
All of a sudden, the necklace on her neck, a gift from her brothers, started warming up, giving her a sense of warmth and love. Hermione started to cry. "Harry," she whispered through the tears.
"Let's move, there are people here. Bellatrix whispered sharply. Hermione didn't know how long she hung there for. The only thing on her mind was the soothing magic running over her from the pendant.
"Shit, Harry, this is not good." Ron's panicked voice cut through her hazy thoughts.
Ron, she tried to say but her throat wouldn't work. The chains disappeared from her wrists and she fell forward into a blissful unconsciousness.
"Oh I've missed flying, the feeling of being free" Harry said to Ron, a nostalgic look on his face. He shot towards the sky and then straight to the ground, but right before he pulled up, he felt the pendant on his neck heat up. He looked over at Ron just to see him do the same thing.
"Hermione" they mouthed and they shot towards the school still on their brooms. Harry felt as if he had never ridden a broom as fast as he did in his life. Using the tracking spell imbued in the pendant, they swerved down to the dungeons, ignoring the shrieks of students below them. They found the door that separated him from their sister, as he could hear her screams through the brick entrance.
"Fuck they're torturing her" Ron yelled. Harry took no time to respond as they threw the strongest blasting curses they could manage at the door only to see it not budge an inch. A scream of rage tore through Harry's throat as he heard the attackers inside start to flee. A torrent of raw magic erupted from him, blasting everything out this vicinity, paintings rained down from the walls and cracks appeared on the floor beneath him. The door shattered before him, and he ran into the room to see Hermione hanging limply from the wall, chained, tears falling freely down her face, the word "mudblood" etched into her arm. Arms shaking, Harry quickly got rid of the chains and Ron caught her as she fell forward.
"Harry…" Ron started but cut off as Harry slowed turned toward him. His eyes were rimmed red around the green, blazing with unrestrained madness.
"Take her to the hospital wing," Harry said calmly, his magic lashing out around the room.
"I have some snakes to teach."
A/N
So I kind of shifted the mudblood scar thing from Malfoy Manor to here. If it's too dark tell me cause idk what I'm doing. Also I kind of feel like that's the kind of revenge Bellatrix would pull. And then Harry losing himself and getting red-rimmed eyes kind of emphasis the darker part of him.
AH chapter six and I'm already at like 17k words kinda crazy huh!
