A new story, I know I have others as well but I have been playin Brave Souls for a while and this wouldn't get out of my head so here it is. Hope you guys enjoy it.
CHAPTER 1
Death. One always hears many things about it. Like how it is just natural or how it shouldn't be feared but the one saying about death one hears simply too much in their lives is that you see your live flashing before your eyes. That is a lie. A dirty lie that is not even close to truth. What happens in the face of death is much simpler than that. You don't remember your whole life in a second, you don't mysteriously understand the truth of the universe, no, what happens is much simpler.
You freeze.
You freeze not unlike an antelope in headlights. It is rather embarrassing actually. You might ask "How do you know that?" In the most blunt way, it's because I did. I froze like a mother fucking antelope in headlights when that stupid car was about to hit me after I pushed the careless brat out of the way. And even as I froze I had only one stupid and meaningless question in my head. "Which is more stupid? The brat who wasn't watching the road to make sure no vehicles were coming? Or the old bastard who was looking at his phone instead of the road?"
So it was a rather surprising moment when I woke up in a bed.
"Huh, so I survived. I love it when I do that." I started looking around the room after that shameless Dr. Who reference. It didn't even took me two seconds before I realized that I was not in a hospital. How did I do that shocking discovery? Well all the magical girl action figures around the room was quite a big clue. So was the giant TV and the game.
Though having a hospital room like this would have been awesome.
"You are right it would but people don't trust me enough to model rooms anymore."
No matter who says what, I did not scream like a girl. I did make a very good impression of a grasshopper with my jump though. Behind me was an old man. Not Dumbledore or Gandalf old, but still looking old enough to to be somebody's grandfathers little brother. He had a rather stylish black tuxedo with white outlines, he also had a cane(with a fucking ruby on the top of it!). But his face definitely got more attention from me(not that kind perverts) his hair was a whitish gray just like his beard. And then there was his rather freaky eyes. They were red. Not reddish brown or something like that, his eye were actually blood red. And for some reason he looked rather familiar.
"How long are you planning on staring kid?" His blunt question brought me out my thoughts into embarrassing reality. Which did not last long with my questions.
"Who are you mister…?"
I could swear that there was some kind of spark in the old mans eye. One that you would see in the anime before the asshole side character would start causing mayhem.
"Yes my name, sorry for not introducing myself right away, is Zelretch. Zelretch Kischur Schweinorg."
Oh so his name was Zelretch… wait a second. Old man, check. Cane, check. Blood red eyes, check. Name, check. Mad glint in the eye, check. A perfect description of Old Man of the Jewels. Which meant…
"I'm still unconscious I guess. Though this is a rather weird dream." I muttered, not caring whether he heard me or not. This was a dream after all. Yes, this was a dream because let's be serious, what are the chances an old vampire with dimensional powers that could only be considered as miracles from a fictional world being in front of me.
"Probably same as waking up after dying, am I right kid?"
"Yeah, you are right old man." Truly this man understood me.
"So it is what is happening right now." Yeah it is what was happening right— wait a second!
"What?"
"I mean you died when you were hit by a car." Hey hey, this guy is saying some very outrageous things!
"Seriously did you really think that a car hit you and you got out completely unscratched? Are you some kind of idiot?" Yeah now that he mentioned it, it was pretty stupid so as I thought at first this must be a dream, righ—Ow! Did this old bastard really just hit me with his stick?! Dream or not that really… hurt. At that moment I really started to lose it. My breathing got erratic and my heart started to beat faster to the point where I was not sure if my heart would destroy my chest through beating it and get out or if it would explode before that with pressure. Yeah this was just like dying all over again!
"Calm down." And then I was calm. It was rather bizarre. All that panic vanishing in less than a second and your mind getting cleaner. It was like running a marathon then all the adrenaline disappearing without tiring you out. Not something one can easily explain, even my explanation wasn't probably right. And all of this had happened because of two words uttered by this man. Zelretch Kischur Schweinorg. A man that should have been fictional but was standing right in front of me. The true magician of the Second Magic, Kaleidoscope. Viewing and traveling between alternate realities. The magic that had power upon not only multiverse which held infinite realities but as I now see him front of me also the omniverse which was infinite number of infinite realities. This was a man that had fought against the Crimson Moon Brunestud and came out victorious. This man was one of the strongest beings of Nasuverse. A being that was weaker than only the likes of Beast and Grand class Servants. A man that was outside of the reach of humanity. A man that had claimed that I was dead. A man that was… eating chips while looking at me pretty amused.
"Are you finished with your inner monologue brat?" Yeah, this man was also an Asshole with a capital A.
"What happened?" Among many of my questions this was most likely to be the most important.
"Huh weren't you listening brat? You died?" Don't rub it in asshole. "Hit by a car while saving a careless brat, in other words you died trying to be a hero."
Coming from a guy who knew shit tons of wanna be heroes, this was really embarrassing. Though I had no intention of answering. The maniac would probably turn any kind of reply into a magical girl innuendo.
"Hah, should have figured. Well brat want to cause some chaos with power of a hero?" To offer something like this. This man was truly mad. And as far as I knew there was only way to do what he was offering in Nasu-verse.
"Are you talking about class cards?" The mystic codes that were created through the mysteries of Ainsworth family. It was created in a way that could house souls of old heroes without their ego for the purpose of allowing one to use the powers of a Servant. A being, whose deeds were so legendary that the world itself recorded them in a way that they could be summoned through rituals. Even the weakest of them holding more power than any human.
"Not exactly. This is more like a full time bonding instead of the stupid Power Ranger thingie that Ainsworths have made. So how about it?"
"Which Heroic Spirit is it?" The question made Zelretch smile even wider, it was wider than any human mouth should be capable of, creepy.
"Not a one that you have ever seen. It is an incarnation of EMIYA. It is more or less a cross between his Archer and Alter selves. Though I myself added some rather amazing skills in it as well!" That was rather concerning. Knowing Zelretch he might have added some kind of magical girl skill in it.
"What are they?" An even wider smile, gross!
"Some extra class Skills like Riding, Territory Creation and Item Construction, also some useful personal Skills like Mana Burst and Bulletproof Treatment and last but not least, one EX rank Skill of my very own creation!" Now that scared me more than anything. EX. A rank that could be achieved through being outside of the calculations of the system. Either through pure power like Vasavi Shakti and Ea or through being truly outside of the norm like Minamoto Raikou's Madness Enchantment which was obsessive affection instead of insanity level of rage.
"What are they?" I asked, already fearing the answer. And being creeped out by an even wider smile!
"The skill is something I created in order to help your Tracing. 'Perfect Rewatch' is a way for you to look back any kind of anime or comics with eyes of EMIYA to trace many things!" This guy was seriously giving me quite a bit of power but there still wasn't anything that would make him amused yet, so why…
"Zelretch, why exactly are you sending me to this dimension?" I wasn't sure what had surprised him more, the question or the fact I had interrupted him before he could continue. Though he was also looking just a bit more nervous.
"Because it would be amusing of course! Why else would I send you to another much more dangerous world filled with—"
"Zelretch, if this was for your amusement, you would have added skills and powers you would have find funny. Every skill you spoke of and the power of EMIYA are not funny. They are more or less army destroyers, so please tell me. What is the real reason?" With that all humor vanished from his face.
"The world I am sending you is a dangerous place. It also is under the threat of destruction of everything. Even if its denizens are skilled enough to stop that destruction."
"Okay but what does that have to with sending someone—"
"Alaya is trying to get access to this world." And everything just stopped. Alaya. The collective unconsciousness of humanity and the most cruel being in Nasu-verse. Only a mind without any true emotions, all it cares is survival of human race through having her Counter Guardians commit massacres. In the most basic way of explaining, Alaya was the user of the path of Ashura. Kill one to save dozens. Kill dozens to save hundreds. And kill hundreds to save thousands. While it could be considered as a good way on paper, that was only if the minority was the threat itself and with minimal casualties. For Alaya there was no concept casualties, no concept of unnecessary damage. For Alaya it was acceptable to simply bomb the countries in order to kill one person who could become a threat. And if what Zelretch was saying was true, then Alaya would destroy the whole world to protect it.
"Through sending you with EMIYA's power, for a lack of better term, we are making Alaya believe that there already is a Counter Guardian there that will neutralize the threats. And since it does not have a real connection to that world, it won't even realize that no one is needlessly causing catastrophes to save humanity." All of this made sense, except for one thing…
"Why me then? I am a nobody." At those words Zelretch's face become even grimmer.
"Yeah, you are. Literally." It was nice that he agreed, but the hell did he mean by literally?
"Look at yourself kid." At myself? The hell was this geezer about. There was nothing wrong with me. It was clear by me pure white arm… wait!
My arms, hands, no my whole body was white! And not as pale white, but chalk white with nothing in it with black outlines! As I touched my head I realized that there was no hair or nose and eyes either! I was like some half asses painting! This was not who I was! I was, I was…
Who was I?
"You finally started to realize it. You have died brat. You can't just walk away from that like that. Death does not let you get away that easily. Even with true magic, death still takes something from you. That is absolute." His words weren't comforting but it did help me understand my position. Even if there were somethings that did not make sense.
"But I still remember things! Every legend I have ever learned! Every anime! Every show!"
"But not who you are. You probably remember outlines and events but not the faces. Death is complicated like that it took what makes you 'you'. And because of that you are not exactly same anymore." This was great. Even more nonsense!
"Most of your actions and your feelings are still the same, those things are engraved into your soul through experiences. But your memories of who you are is gone. You are more or less the same person as you were, except for maybe some of your morals. And even that is likely to help you."
"HOW!?" I didn't meant to shout but my emotions were getting control of my actions. That was not good or pleasant. Placing ones emotions before logic was the action of little children and animals. Reasoning and logic was what had earned humanity their supremacy against other life forms after all.
"Because you are god damn selfish but also driven by logic. You would have no problem with allowing people to die to save those who you consider yours. But you also wouldn't just destroy the whole world for it. Because you know that they need the world to live after all."
The old man was being scarily accurate. I wasn't some shonen protagonist that would put the world into danger for one friend and then save it anyway. No, I was the person who would make sure that world didn't end no matter what so that what was mine could continue to exist. Because if the world ended; my family, my friends and my existence would also end. I might sound like a greedy asshole but as Larfleeze would say 'What is mine is mine!" I don't want to lose what I consider mine. Period!
"Ok, what will happen now then?" And Zelretch gave an even wider grin! God help me!
I will strike down upon Zelretch with great vengeance and furious anger. That is all I can think right now as I am being fed baby food by my new mother, Kurosaki Masaki, while my new brother Ichigo is making adorable baby noises. And that was the first coherent thought of Kurosaki Keitaro.
This is the first chapter and I don't know when I will continue it. The only way one can motivate me for it is to review follow and favorite.
P.S Merry Christmas!
