New Age of the Gods
Silent, cold, lifeless, those were the only words to describe the vast expanse of space. The only thing to truly provide light in this endless darkness were the near infinite amount of stars that managed to shine through no matter how small it is. Despite how cold and lifeless this place was that doesn't mean that it was inactive; something was moving through this infinite darkness, it at first glance looked like an asteroid except there something off about it: For one it was moving unnaturally… almost like a fish swimming through water, and the other was fact that it was on fire despite how it hadn't entered any atmosphere. It suddenly stopped completely, ignoring the laws of motion despite the impossibility; it suddenly made a turn to the left and was gaining speed, whatever it was, it had found what it was looking for…
Devour, cleanse, rebirth, those were the only things it knows. It has no idea why it does that, why Gaia keeps calling it… It doesn't care, all it knows that it must feed this hunger of its.
There, it can hear her calling it, it was time to start its job(?). Doesn't matter, all it cares now is to feed on it. It can sense the bountiful life, ripe for the picking.
Hmm, what's this? Another smaller world, one with less food, yet why can it not hear Gaia in it?
Doesn't matter; the food was far less bountiful, although perhaps it can make a short stop and have a bit of snack before the full course meal.
Moon
Chaos, pure absolute chaos. People were running around screaming and panicking.
These inhabitants of this small world were strange looking in that they were all pale to the point of almost being white, had pure white hair no matter the age, and all of them had white featureless eyes giving them the impression of blindness.
When they first saw the 'asteroid' many didn't give it much thought even when it was heading toward them; after all they were well protected. Imagine their shock & horror when the asteroid actually managed to break through the barrier, worst of all instead colliding and causing a great explosion it started… rampaging.
If they were paying attention, they would have notice pieces of the 'asteroid' coming off it, either clinging onto the ground & buildings or being launched straight into Earth along with the debris.
People were dying in every turn, either being crushed by the 'asteroid' or being burned to death by its flames. Plenty have actually made it to some shelters, all of them praying to the forefather of their clan that this invader's carnage will end soon…
Earth
Hi no Kuni, Konahagakure no sato
Everything was quiet, or as quiet as possible, with some people being up simply relaxing under the night.
Well there was one person that was out and not enjoying the night sky.
Minato Namikaze, a man with distinctive blond hair & blue eyes and recently appointed Yondaime Hokage, was at the Hokage's office doing paperwork. In truth he could have easily let some clones do the work for him, but he didn't want to. He was simply using this as a distraction.
His wife Kushina Uzumaki had went left the village temporarily in order to explore the ruins of her homeland Uzu no Kuni to see if there's anything salvageable. It will take a few months to get there and another few to come back. He's fully aware of just how capable his wife is except he still can't help but worry about her. He would have come with her if it weren't for the fact that he's Hokage now.
'Strange…'
He noticed that people were getting a bit loud outside.
'Wonder what's with all the commotion?'
He decided to look outside and was quite surprised at what he saw: an immeasurable amount of shooting stars filling the night sky.
People were looking at the sky in wonder, children were waking up from all the noise only to end up staring at the beautiful display.
"Hm, you don't see that every day."
Seeing the show actually managed to cheer him up a bit.
Meanwhile down at the streets was the Uchiha clan matriarch Mikoto Uchiha, a black haired beauty, who was using her bloodline to memorize the sight before her. At first she was enjoying the view but thanks to her Sharingan she noticed things that other people would have overlooked: All the birds were flying away seemingly in a panic, dogs were whimpering and hiding in whatever place they call home, and the cats were all hissing at the night sky.
She was curious on what was making the animals act this way.
She then noticed one of her acquaintances Tsume Inuzuka, a tom boyish beauty, was staring at the night sky with a serious expression on her face.
As Mikoto neared her, she had to duck her head as a bird flew by nearly hitting her.
"Tsume…"
Tsume sniffed the air.
"Something's wrong."
Mikoto began to feel nervous hearing that and quickly ran back to the compound.
As she got near she saw her husband there.
"Fugaku!"
He turned to look at her.
"Where's Itachi?"
"He's back at… the… compound…"
Fugaku trailed off as he looked back at the sky.
Mikoto, in a moment of confusion wandered if it was suddenly daylight, looked up and was left in shock and awe at what she was seeing.
A flaming meteor of large size was falling down the sky. Not just Konoha, but everyone in the Elemental Nations, could only stare at this foreign thing falling from the heavens.
Eventually the meteor collided somewhere at the far distance creating a large explosion. The explosion was so powerful that the shockwave was felt throughout the lands, knocking a few people off their feet. Some minor villages ended up panicking though most of the populace were just wary.
Mikoto couldn't help but let out a sigh in relief. She had honestly thought something much worse was about to happen. But still she couldn't help but worry that something awful had happened.
What no one realized at that time was that the meteor had landed on Uzu no Kuni…
Dying.
It was dying.
One of the lifeforms had managed to cut through its flesh before being killed. It would not have been a problem except that its core is gone; already its main body was evaporating, spreading.
In truth this was a just a setback, it has already spread its seeds around the world meaning that its children will fulfill its role anyway, plus one of them will be guaranteed to become the new Nova.
Though the problem was the length of time. A Singularity was more likely to be born first then a new Nova. A couple centuries will pass before a new Nova is born and perhaps another century before it could reunite with the Singularity and start the cleansing (though its children are more likely to wipe out all life before that happens).
If it had the sentience/mental capacity it would have sigh in tiredness.
There was nothing it could do but to just die and hope(?) a new Nova will be born.
Hm, what's this?
There was a lifeform there, judging by how close it was to her, she must have been at the center of its landing.
If it could, it would be impressed that the woman had managed to survive, but it could feel its flesh inside her eating away at her, it was only a matter of time before she was completely consumed.
Oh? The lifeform is pregnant, not only that but the embryo inside her somehow got converted into a core.
… Actually it can use this.
It looks like it won't have to wait for a new Nova after all.
But first it will need to save this lifeform.
Can't have the host dying on it before it can be reborn now can it?
'I'm such an idiot…'
Kushina Uzumaki, a red haired beauty who's known for fiery temper, was dying a painful death.
Though it should have taken months, unknown to everyone she actually knows a short cut that will allow her to arrive to her homeland in a few weeks rather than months. Since she was the only one who knows of this shortcut no one knows just how close to death she is.
'Hm, who knew paranoia will end up killing me in this type of world.'
She could feel the life fading from her, most of her blood dried up from the heat, and half her skin gone.
'Sorry Minato, looks like we won't have that family we dreamed of having.'
She would have cried if possible.
Before she could lament further she noticed something moving at the corner of her eye.
It came moving closer to her yet she still couldn't see it properly.
It then for some reason rested on her belly.
Before she could do anything she felt pain. Pain that kept growing in intensity, that she couldn't even utter out a simple squeak.
The pain eventually became too much for her to handle and she blacked out.
She would not realize for some time that her life was saved that day… or the fact she will give birth to humanity's demise…
4 months later
It was quite a while since that whole meteor shower. What was considered to be just a simple meteor shower turned out to be so much. From these meteors a new material was discovered.
Moonsteel, no one knows where the name came from but it ended up sticking. It was nearly indestructible but that wasn't what got people excited, it was its ability to produce its own chakra. Moonsteel can produce Kage levels of special chakra without EVER running out; not only that but people who had been exposed to this type of 'Moon' chakra during the time they were still embryos have shown the ability to form a dense chakra cloak (similar to a Tailed Beast cloak) that can be shaped into whatever they want and are able to use a brand new element that has never been seen before… Gravity release.
Minato looked out the window and sighed.
He couldn't help but wonder if the discovery of Moonsteel was a good or a bad thing.
Thanks to Moonsteel, the villages were too busy trying to obtain as much of the material as possible that wars and skirmishes have ceased completely, making this one of the most peaceful times the Elemental Nations have ever witnessed in history.
The negative side of this was that villages were using this to make new weapons and were kidnapping children with Moon chakra for the same reason as the creation of Jinchuuriki.
Although there was something odd that came out of this. Large earthen pillars had erupted a day after the meteor shower. It had given off large amounts of nature energy yet did nothing to affect the area around them. People had tried to harvest the material of whatever they were made of but nothing they had could even scratch them, not even moonsteel.
Minato went back to his desk.
He sincerely hoped that when the violence will reignite his child would have already die of old age.
Uzumaki/Namikaze compound
Kushina Uzumaki was humming a tune while knitting a teal and light blue stripped scarf… for her yet-to-be born child.
She had no idea how she was still alive, or even how she wasn't crippled. Though that doesn't mean she was going to enjoy this reprise.
Her smile turned into a frown.
When she came back, Minato was obviously worried due to all those meteors falling from the sky. She greatly enjoyed how much time he had spent fretting over her, however that lasted for a surprisingly short time before he had gotten over his worrying state and went back to his Hokage duties.
As time went by she had started noticing how much Minato spent more time as a Hokage than as a husband. He could have at least sent some Kage Bunshins to keep her company.
Even though when they receive news about her being pregnant, and being perhaps the happiest man he could be, it made no difference.
Even still she tried to be the 'good wife' and even let Minato pick the name and godfather (which she regrets very much).
Kushina rubbed her round belly.
Honestly she was worried that her child would have to deal with not having a father figure in their life.
"Well…"
Kushina got rid of her negative thoughts and smiles down at her child.
"… even if your father isn't here we still have each other to keep us from our loneliness, don't we…?"
She felt a kick from her child as if it was reassuring her.
She smiled at that and continue on with her sewing.
She had no idea the day of her child's birth, will be the start of extinction.
Day of Birth
Kyuubi Attack
"Minato, don't!" Kushina's desperate cries for her child were not heeded. Minato had her child, her precious little baby, in hand and was planning to seal the Kyuubi into him.
'No!'
How could this have happened? It was a simple but painful thing, yet everything was ruined when that blasted Uchiha came and kidnapped her, unleashing the fox unto the village.
Try as she might, she was far too exhausted, her body too damaged by the forceful removal of the Kyuubi, she was effectively paralyzed from the waist down. She was powerless to stop this. She could do nothing but watch in mute horror, as Minato summoned the Shinigami. It's form hung over him, his soul in its grasp.
"SHIKI FUJIN!"
The Kyuubi was robbed of its Yin chakra, and it was made evident by its sudden decrease in size. The Sharingan, once dominating its eyes had vanished shortly after the Shinigami appeared. Fear was now evident in its crimson gaze.
"FUIN!"
The Shinigami's hand impaled Minato then, depositing the Yin chakra in his body. It then rushed towards the Kyuubi. Minato slumped forward, his soul ripped from his body. His face was skeletal, his skin morphing into a pallor, that one would find on a months old corpse. The soul was then consumed by the Shinigami, a noticeable blue light, shining through its throat.
The hand grasped the Kyuubi fully, then a seal coming into existence on Naruto's stomach, and the dark red Yang chakra of the Kyuubi was now being siphoned into it. But the fox would not go down without a fight. It raised a paw, and a claw was extended towards the newborn. It would not be sealed again! It would have its freedom!
Kushina would not stand for it. A burst of adrenaline surged through her veins, and she leaped into the path of the claw. Pain. Agony. A spray of crimson decorated the grass, as well as Naruto. His eyes opened then and Kushina saw an intelligence, a comprehension that was entirely unsuited for a newborn. He looked towards her.
'Sleep…'
She suddenly heard a voice in her head.
'I can't… Naruto… needs me…'
The eyes of her child soften and looked at her with affection.
'Sleep… you will wake up… and we will be together again… I promise…'
The Kyuubi was sealed into the boy removing the claw from her torso.
With the last of her strength she crawled towards her child cradling him in her arms.
Somehow she knew she wasn't dying, yet she also knows if she closed her eyes she will not see him for a long time.
Kushina so desperately wanted to say her last words to him. A mother's loving words. But it was not meant to be. She felt herself growing weaker and weaker, her vision dimming more and more.
Her last vision was of Naruto reaching out to her with his tiny arms.
Uzugakure
"You sure about this?"
"Yeah I'm sure!"
Some Kumo nin were currently invading the once homeland of the Uzumaki clan looking for something specific.
"But we don't have any proof that there's a large deposit of moonsteel here."
"What do you mean no proof?! Did you not see the large meteor all those years ago?! We can make a fortune out of the amount!"
His partner sighed and shook his head.
"And how do we know it was moonsteel in the first place? For all we know that could be just some random meteor. After all not every meteor had moonsteel in them."
He just sighed and rolled his eyes at the questions.
"You know you're just so fucking negative all the time. It's no wonder you're still single."
"Well excuse me for feeling that it's bad taste to invade a nation that our village helped destroyed once, over flimsy evidence of there being moonsteel on a mission that wasn't even sanctioned by the Raikage!"
The rest of the group could only stare at the arguing duo blankly Mentally they agree that everything about this mission is wrong but the possible reward was worth it… at least that's how their minds try to rationalize it as they were mostly guided by their greed.
There was something watching the group and it growled lowly at them.
If the group had paid attention to their surroundings they would have noticed its presence.
They were now going to pay dearly for it.
One of the Kumo nin was suddenly snatched away with a scream followed by a roar and the sound of flesh and bone being torn apart.
"What the Hell?!"
"What was that?!"
The beast went for another rushed attack and snagged another victim.
"Everyone! Group together now!"
The remaining nin gathered together with their backs against each other checking their surroundings.
They heard growling as the beast ran circles around them, hidden by the foliage.
'Dammit we can't get a good look of it with all these trees in the way.'
The heard a growl before the beast rushed at them again. They managed to move out of the way causing the beast to roar in anger.
It hid in the trees once more waiting for another opportunity to strike.
'I think I'm getting a hang on its attack pattern.'
He subtly and slowly prepared hand signs for a jutsu.
He kept examining his surroundings until he noticed something: Golden eyes peering at him and his group with hate and hunger.
'There you are…'
He grinned.
The beast charged once more only this time he was ready.
His fist was now covered in lightning in the shape of fangs.
"Take this!"
His attack landed on the beast's eye and due to its momentum, his fist was dragged through across its body spilling blood everywhere.
The beast ran back to the forest.
"You did it!"
The rest of the nin gathered to congratulate him but noticed something wrong.
"Hey… you all right?"
He was silent for a moment until."
"A-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
He held up his hand to reveal it was completely mangled, spraying blood everywhere. It looked as if it was repeatedly squashed by something extremely heavy.
His screams were silenced when he was tackled by the beast who proceeded to rip him apart.
Instead of going back into hiding it stood in front of the remaining group.
It stood on two legs and had a resemblance to a silver dinosaur (not that the people of this world even know what a dinosaur is), it has no forearms, its tail resembled the face of an Ogre, its golden eyes stared at them as if they were the prey and its mouth is full of sharp fangs while its mouth was set in a way as if it was grinning at them.
The nin were too stunned as what really shocked them was that the beast looked COMPLETELY unharmed. The only sign that it was ever attacked was the thin stream of blood from its attacker.
The beast roared and charged at them.
If there were any Uzumaki spirits still lingering in these remnants of a nation they would cheer and rejoice at the slaughter that was taking place.
The beasts, the summon animals, and the sages from across the world can feel it directly in their bones… the planet is throbbing… it's beating like a heart.
Something was gathering deep within the earthen pillars.
The ground beneath each pillar were glowing; finally the ground cracked and what emerged were…
Monsters.
Monsters of different shapes and sizes, monsters that you would only find in myths, monsters that you would on find in horror tales, monsters… that not even the human mind can conjure up.
What they all have in common is the sheer amount of wrath and hunger they have engraved deep within themselves.
All at once they let out a loud monstrous roar and the entire world can hear them.
It is time for the slaughter to commence…
Author's Notes
Man this took longer than it should have. I had plans for this ever since I first heard of God Eater.
Why are there not a lot of God Eater fics?! I mean seriously the games are just amazing and the Aragami are awesome!
So yes there are a lot of theories on the origins of Oracle cells and the Aragami. One of the earliest being that they're aliens.
My theory is that they're some form of reset button. See the Oracle Cells apparently came out of nowhere, their purpose is to devour EVERYTHING from the planet (including energy) yet they can photosynthesized like plants and provide air, there is a special Aragami that's suppose to trigger an event that will wipe out EVERYTHING (and its completely unavoidable) where new life will then take place to replace the old (just look at what Shio did to the moon) and not only that but it seems even the planet itself supports what the Aragami do (Red Rain and the Ashlands).
So here I've combined my current theory with one of the earliest theories out there.
So you can see here due to being at the epicentre of the high concentration of Oracle Cells Naruto was turned into an Aragami... a special kind of Aragami. The only reason why Kushina wasn't eaten from the inside out was because she was still needed. However because of the high concentration of Oracle Cells she was unintentionally turned into a God Eater. And yes she's still alive just in a coma.
If anyone knows about God Eater than you should know this is going to be a one-sided slaughter... Worse because the Aragami are going to be much more powerful than their canon selves, wanna know why? Their devouring nature and Chakra.
So yes I hope everyone will try their hand in making more God Eater fics, god knows we need more than the pathetic amount we have right now.
So Happy Holidays everyone! :)
