Mummy man Strikes!

Shinji swiftly prepared breakfast. Despite the fact that there was no important day ahead of him he still woke up early. There was no ballistic red head to wake him up either. He almost missed the walking inferno. His body however, rejoiced when he learned that Asuka decided to go back to Germany instead of staying in Japan. He sure had less bruises. His hands skilfully manoeuvred around the kitchen, cooking another above average meal for Misato.

His hands actions were severed from his mind. His mind was replaying through the events of the entrance exam. He could have done so much better. He simply used his weapons. Barely any of it was him.

"Smells good, Shinji" Misato was finally awake. She stumbled her way to the spacious fridge. She fished around before selecting a can of beer. The can itself was a dull gold. Shinji smiled. Things sure do fall back into place quite quickly. She cracked open the beer and chugged the contents. After finishing she let out a great howl of joy and chucked the can into the bin. She quickly grabbed another and closed the door.

Taking a seat, she looked at a newspaper on the small coffee table. She picked it up and turned it around. It had another hero plastered across it, who was it? Shinji would not have known if it were not for the name emblazed in flashy lettering above. It was a rather muscular man named "All might". Shinji thought the name was quite pretentious. Surely there would be someone stronger than him. That's just the world. No one is at the top for long.

Shinji placed down the bowl of miso soup on the table. He looked down at the circular scar on his right hand before clenching his fist. Noticing Shinji's storm of discomfort, Misato decided to ease the mood the only way she knew how.

"Meet any cute girls?"

Embarrassing him.

"MISATO?!"

Misato's famous smirk of victory had appeared.

"You have!" Misato's eyes glinted with evil, "and you didn't even tell me!"

"Misato! Its not like that!" Shinji was really on the defensive, "There was only one!"

"So, you did,"

"WAIT" Shinji groaned.

"I met her during the practical exam. She toasted a three pointer in front of me." Shinji finally caved in. His back was hunched over and his head was hung low. Misato had completely dominated Shinji mentally. It was a tactic that only worked on Shinji. But it was super effective!

"So, she saved you!" Misato had jumped onto the sofa. "Tell me what happened after." She had shoved her face next to his. Where ever Shinji looked; Misato's face was the only thing he could see.

"I ran away" Shinji's voice was low.

"ARE YOU STUPID?"

"DID YOU LEARN NOTHING!"

Misato's screams were probably heard miles away.

"I was embarrassed, I needed points!" Shinji's rebuttal was weak as usual.

"Fine" Misato's eyes had narrowed. "I'll let you off just this once."

"So—"

"STOP SAYING SORRY!"

"So—"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Shinji walked down the calm streets. He passed by the bright and lively suburbs. The concrete was a bit softer than he was used to. He guessed that it was because they didn't have huge robots and monster stomping around once a month. He smiled at that. It was rather peaceful. It seemed that a city with heroes was a lot livelier and more peaceful. Lost in thought he accidently bumped into another boy. He was near his height and had burn mark around his right eye. His rather plain hair was split down the middle in colour. His left was red and his left was a snowy white.

As he looked the boy in the eye, he noticed that this boy had a heterochromia. Scratching the back of his neck he stated his apologies. The half and half boy tilted his head.

"I apologise." His voice was quiet and reserved yet filled with focus. His response cut to the point without any pleasantries or excuses like Shinji would have done a year ago. They both stood there awkwardly for a couple minutes before Shinji decided to spark some conversation with the colourful teenager in front of him.

"Where were you going?" Shinji's voice was timid. His feet tapped the ground nervously, as if scared from a possible negative response.

"I needed to clear my mind after training," his voice was monotonal and his face was completely blank. Shinji felt as if he was talking to Ayanami deux.

"What were you training for?" Shinji asked, "sorry for intruding." Shinji was even more awkward in his current state.

"I was training for my control over my quirk"

"That's really cool!" Shinji commented, he barely needed time to control his quirk, after all it was not him who dealt with the repercussions. "If you don't mind me asking… What's your quirk?" He scratched his thick mop of unkempt black hair. He really could not stop bad habits. It was as if he was cursed or something.

"Ice"

"I'm guessing it comes from your right side," Shinji noted with a mumble.

His heterochromia infused eyes narrowed. "What would you mean by that?"

"Well I may just be jumping to conclusions," Shinji noted "Misato said I do that often, I don't mean anything nasty about it. I promise. I just… I- I've gotten used to expecting the worst when it comes to people"

The young man in front of Shinji blinked. "My left is fire,"

"I must leave now"

The dual quirk user turned on his heel.

"See you round!"

I struck a nerve, damn it! Shinji sighed and checked on the small minimalist watch he always wore. The Ice-Fire guy was right, it was late and he probably should go back home. He resigned himself to plugging in head phones and walking down the suburbs. He really shouldn't indulge in such escapism. But he decided that the mood was set just right. That being an orange veil over the planet as the sun was hidden by the earth itself. A smile was presented on his face quite well.

He opened the plain looking door slowly. The carpet brushed against the underside of the wood. He felt a gust of cool air as he saw Misato hunching devilishly over a simple letter. Her eyes looked hollow and her eyes were veiled in shadow. Shinji almost took a step back.

Her dark brown eyes noticed his rather reserved figure. The shadows were repelled by the simple bright light being emitted from her broad and generous smile. Her eyes had a twinkle of pure happiness. One Shinji could not miss.

"Guess who got into the most prestigious academy for the heroic arts in the whole of Japan?" Her voice was loud and boisterous, she had made it out to be the most dramatic thing in the entire world. "Isn't this great!" Misato had started another lecture about the importance of standing out and not letting himself fade into the background.

He smiled and picked the letter up with his scarred hands. His hands were a reminder that it was in fact Real, he signed and carefully tore the wax before deftly opening the flap. A silver circular object was all that the letter contained. He took out said disc and placed the device on the table. He peered inside the letter hoping that a set of instructions came along with the mysterious device.

The device beeped blue and Misato looked to investigate the disc. A holographic projection appeared before him.

"Greetings, Mr Ikari" Shinji flinched "We noticed your rather impressive display at the entrance exams and have decided that you will be in class 1-A. Your quirk seems extremely versatile and powerful in certain circumstances. At U.A. we hope that you will reach the apex of your potential, perhaps even surpass it. I hope to see you during class, please be punctual to your first lesson." He looked to the side and motioned to cut the video.

Shinji sighed, he had gotten in.

"So, you did show off!" Misato started, "I just knew you couldn't resist the thrill of hunting the enemies!"

"I mean I only used the Magoroku." Shinji said, his foot twisting as he looked down at the wooden plated floor. "I wasn't really anything to gawk at"

"Righhhhhtttt. So… We jus gonna ignore the fact that it is literally a 60M LONG SWORD!" Misato was kind of furious. She had gotten more unstable Shinji realised. But it was a good side he supposed. She was happy.

"ARE YOU STUPID!"

"what part of '60M LONG SWORD', do you not understand as flashy."

"It's only a sword!" Another weak defense, like holding his arm out to protect himself from a soaring bullet.

"IT'S A SUPER BIG SWORD!"

"Bu – "

"IT'S AS BIG AS A BLOODY SKY SCRAPER!"

"No it isn't, sky scrapers are way taller." Shinji told her factually.

"YOU ARE HOPELESS"

"Really?"

"NO!"

"Huh?!"

"YOU NEED TRAINING"

"can you stop yelling now, my ears hurt"

"NOT UNTIL YOU LEARN!"

"ughhhhhhhh"
