Neko!Tetsuro Kuroo - Home Sweet Home
Kuroo was having a stand-off with a gang of trash pandas to see who would reap the spoils of the dumpster this week. The cat-eared male had already been stricken with a few scratches and was starting to get fed up, as was everyone living in the nearby apartment building. Eventually, an elderly man opened his window and fired shots (rubber bullets), at the chaos down below. The raccoons scattered, avoiding the projectiles, while Kuroo was struck in the back of the head.
"Ow!" he hollered, "What gives, gramps?"
"Get outta here, ya little menace!" the old man shouted back, "before I call the cops!" Not wanting a run in with the police, Kuroo turned tail and ran off, but not before hearing the man yell, "Freak!" and slamming his window shut.
The young man continued to wander until coming across a park. His ears twitched as the faint sound of sobbing flowed through them. He turned a corner to see you sitting on a bench and crying into your hands. Not being able to take the weeping of a distressed damsel, he quietly approached you.
"Hey there," he said, causing you to flinch and look up at him. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
"Oh no," you replied, wiping her tears, "not scared. Just a little startled." You then took notice of the scratches he'd accumulated from the raccoon fight. "What happened to you?"
"Well when you live life out on the streets you're bound to get roughed up a bit. Anyways, I feel like I should be asking you the same thing."
You became teary-eyed once again and explained that you had caught your boyfriend cheating on you...with another guy. Kuroo looked upon you with sympathetic eyes as you asked yourself what you did wrong.
"You're not the one who did wrong here," Kuroo insisted, "that loser just didn't know what he had. Which is I'm sure a nice girl with really pretty (y/h/c) hair."
You blushed a bit at his comment, the falling of tears ceasing. "I-I'm (y/n)," you introduced herself.
"Kuroo," he said in reply.
"It's nice to meet you, Kuroo."
"You too, (y/n)."
Kuroo saw a tiny smile pop up on the corner of your mouth before your face dropped back down to a somber state. Now what were you supposed to do? You had jolted out of the apartment you shared with your cheating boyfriend so swiftly that you left your phone and wallet, meaning you had no money and no means to call anyone up and ask to stay with them.
"Hey," Kuroo spoke up, "I got an idea. Come with me."
You took each other's hand and he guided you to an abandoned shipyard. He led you aboard an old boat that was stocked with a few basic means of survival.
"Here we are," he said, "home sweet home. It's not much but hey, a man's gotta sleep somewhere."
He struck a match to light the collection of candles he'd obtained. He grabbed a coarse yet warm blanket and partially wrapped it around himself, inviting you to sit down beside him. You obliged and took a seat next to the dark-haired male.
"I guess this is where I'll be staying tonight," you said, resting your head on Kuroo's shoulder.
He smiled at how comfortable you were with being around him. He'd spent so much time outcast and alone that he'd forgotten the feeling of being so close to another person, especially a girl. He couldn't help but purr.
"What was that?" you queried.
A soft pink suddenly dusted Kuroo's cheeks. "Oh nothing."
"Didn't sound like nothing," you chuckled. Your host kept silent. You sighed, looking up at the night sky. "It's so nice out here. You can see so many more stars."
"Yeah it's all fun and games until an airplane zooms by." You giggled at what he was implying before stretching your arms up and yawning. "I guess we better call it a night."
Kuroo bunched up some nearby cloth to make pillows for each of you. "Goodnight Kuroo," you said sleepily before closing your eyes and drifting off to sleep.
"Goodnight (y/n)," Kuroo said smiling. He blew out the candles and laid himself comfortably beside you.
You woke up the next morning to discover that you had snuggled into Kuroo's chest some time in the night. A faint blush appeared on your cheeks but you didn't mind. You looked up at him and smiled. He had his mouth open some and was drooling. You giggled, which seemed to be enough to wake the slumbering cat boy.
"Well good morning to you too," he said in a groggy tone. You both sat up and you saw Kuroo's ears twitch. "I think we better get going. I hear police sirens."
"Okay," you agreed. You rustled your hair and got up from the floor of the boat. Once you were both awake enough, Kuroo led you out of the shipyard and you soon came across the park where the two of you had met.
"(y/n)!" someone hollered. You turned to see a tall, blonde male exiting the driver's side of a car.
"Ryan?" you questioned.
Ryan had a relieved look on his face as he ran up and hugged you tightly. "I've been looking for you all night. I'm so glad you're safe."
After some struggling, you finally got out of grip and pushed him away saying, "seriously? You're gonna act all worried about me after lying in bed with someone else?" Kuroo quickly pieced together that this was the boyfriend you'd been crying about the previous night.
"I'm sorry, cuddlebug," Ryan apologized, "It was a mistake and regret every bit of it. So please, let's fix this."
"Fix this? Ryan this relationship is beyond repair. No second chances."
"But muffin bear-"
"But nothing!" Kuroo growled in delight at how aggressive you were being. "Now I want you to go back to the apartment, take what's yours, and get out!"
Without another word, Ryan turned around and returned to his vehicle, defeated. By the time you and Kuroo arrived at your apartment, the man had completely cleared out.
Since Kuroo had been kind enough to show you his residence, it only seemed fair that you do the same.
"Here we are," you said, parroting his words from last night, "home sweet home."
Kuroo chuckled and said, "a lot sweeter now that that douchebag is gone."
"Totally," you agreed.
"I gotta admit, when you were laying down the line back there, man that was hot."
"Goofball," you said, lightly punching his shoulder. Kuroo bashfully rubbed the back of my head. "Kuroo…"
"Yeah?"
"I know we've only known each other for one night and all...but I was thinking...would you like to move in with me?"
A wave of warmth came over Kuroo's heart. "For real? You want to live with me?"
"I really do." You blushed a bit, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear.
The only thing Kuroo could think of to do in that moment was rush up to you and pull you into his arms.
"Kuroo?"
"Thank you." The young man began pouring his heart out to you, saying that no one had ever treated him with such kindness, not even his parents. Tears of joy and gratitude gushed from his golden eyes. You smiled and asked if he was hungry. After the failed fight with the raccoons, Kuroo was definitely in need of some nourishment.
You heated up some instant ramen before going into your bathroom to retrieve some medical supplies so that you could start treating his wounds.
"Ahh!" he winced at the medicine on his skin.
"Sorry," you apologized.
"It's all good."
Once fed and fixed up, Kuroo went to lay down on your couch while you went into your room to get a change of clothes. When you came back, you were surprised to see the cat-eared lad sound asleep. You giggled some. He just looked so damn cute. You went up to him, leaned over, and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, causing him to sigh happily in his sleep.
"Welcome home, kitty cat."
