I have had this one shot written for a few months now, before Descendants 3 came out, so there are a few changes between the movies and this. For one, Descendants 3 didn't happen. Second, Uma went back to the Isle after Descendants 2. Besides that, the OCs Grace and Rayner are mine. Everything else is Disney's. I hope you all enjoy this.

Gil's Saving Grace

Gil walked the streets having been given orders by Uma to do the daily rounds of the Isle. He suddenly heard a loud wail, the good in Gil told him to go find the source. He turned the corner and found a baby swaddled in an old blanket, alone in the alleyway. Gil quickly picked the baby up and it stopped crying.

"Shhh, it's all right, I've got you. Gillys got you." Gil cooed. The baby looked up at the teen pirate. "What am I going to do with you? The Isle is not a place for a baby like you." The baby grabbed Gil's finger. "You want to stay with me?"

Gil thought about this for a moment. Staying with him would be better for the baby than anything else. "Fine, but I have to keep you a secret, I can't let Uma and Harry know about you."

Gil took the baby to his hideout, well it was more like a small hut, but it would always be better than at home with his father and brothers. Gil was surprised, worried, and pleased when he found out the baby was a girl. "Well, the first thing I should do is name you." Gil said. "How about Grace Danielle? If I ever had a daughter I've always wanted to name her Grace." The baby smiled, she seemed to like that name. "Grace it is then."

Gil had set up a small cot next to his bed for Grace. He would search all day for appropriate food for her. He was doing real well at being a father. One night Gil had been woken up to Grace's cries.

"Don't worry Baby Girl, I'm here, Dad's here." Gil stopped in his tracks for a moment. That was the first time he had referred to himself as her dad. He liked it though. He had grown to love her, and she him. He was truly happy.

Gil walked around a bit, singing a soft song to Grace. "Sleep well Gracie, Dad is here to protect you." Gil said, laying her down again. After a little while Gil fell asleep himself.

Gil had eventually left Umas gang, they sometimes bothered him about it, but he didnt care, it was all for Grace. Grace was happy she had a Dad who loved her, and who hoped she would never learn the truth.

A little over one year later the small family was as they were the day Gil found Grace. But this day was special. Gil had gotten a letter from King Ben inviting him to Auradon. Gil wasn't sure if he should go, he wasn't sure what would happen to Grace if he went, he knew if he did go he'd take Grace with him, there was no doubt about that, but he didn't know if Auradon could accommodate him and her.

But he knew that Grace would have her best chance in Auradon. He would go, for her sake, and his. When he arrived the VKs and Ben were shocked at first, but they were happy for Gil. Ben definitely understood how Gil felt, and how his life changed. Ben went through the same thing when he adopted Rayner.

Gil got close to the group and eventually considered them his friends. Rayner and Grace became close friends, best friends. Gil found his place in Auradon, he was surrounded by friends who supported him, and he was giving the best life he possibly could to his daughter.
