WARNING! This one shot is about a touchy subject. If you do not want to continue reading this, that's fine. I do not want to offend anyone, if I do, I sincerely apologize. I know I've been posting a lot today, but this should be it. I've had this one shot written for a long time and I finally am sharing it. This takes place between Descendants 1 and Descendants 2. The OC Becky and the mentioned character of Blinky are mine and everything else is Disney's. I hope you all enjoy this.

Healing an Old Wound

The VKs were enjoying their life now. Adam and Belle had become their legal guardians so, they lived at the castle now instead of the dorms at Auradon Prep. They were all enjoying time together in the living room. Mal was watching Becky and Evie play with dolls. It's been four months of them being in Auradon and they were all a family, but Mal always wondered something about the royal family. The two children were 16 year old Ben and 3 year old Becky, why was there such an age difference between them? Mal hadn't asked the question only because she figured that it was probably a very sensitive topic for the former rulers. The teen finally decided to ask Ben one day why he and his youngest sister were so far apart in age.

"I don't know why actually, I always thought that it was because my parents were busy running Auradon, that their want to have more kids was pushed to the side." Ben told Mal.

"Thanks anyway Ben," Mal said before walking away. Ben's response only made Mal try harder to find the answer. Even after she and her friends were taken in by Belle and Adam, Mal still looked through the internet, maybe Belle and Adam had said something about it in a past interview or something, but it was to no avail. The only person that seemed to have an answer was Fairy Godmother, but when Mal questioned her on the subject she hesitated and then said she didn't know anything.

Mal sat there watching the Evie and Becky then looked over to find Ben sitting at the coffee table looking over some papers, Carlos petting Dude, Jay going over some tourney plays, and Belle and Adam sitting together with all their kids, biological and not. Mal was thinking about her question, she definitely didn't want to ruin this moment, but her question just slipped out.

"Belle," Mal gained the older women's attention immediately. "Why is it that there is a thirteen year age difference between Ben and Becky?" Belle looked as if she wanted to say something, but didn't. Mal hadn't even fully acknowledge the fact that she had asked the question, before Belle's eyes started to fill with tears. The former Queen got up and left the room without a single word. Her husband followed her. Everyone looked on in shock and then turned their attention to Mal.

"Why would you ask a question like that?" Carlos inquired of Mal.

"I, I, it just slipped out." Mal answered.

"Why is Mommy sad?" Becky wondered.

"Nothing you need to worry about Becky," Ben replied.

MEANWHILE…

"Why'd it have to happen to us, Adam?" Belle cried. "It's all my fault."

"Belle what's happened could've happened to anyone. And it's not your fault, it's not my fault, it's not anyone's fault." Adam told his wife.

"Just think of the babies we have lost over the years," Belle said.

"Well, they had all gone so fast, but do you remember the one that lasted the longest?" Adam asked.

"It was a boy." Belle remembered.

"It was a boy and I named him. I gave him the name Blinky." Adam smiled.

"You named our unborn baby Blinky?" Belle laughed while wiping tears from her face.

"One hundred percent, after we lost him of course," Adam walked over to his bedside table. He picked up the framed picture of his family. He took off the back and took out a small piece of paper.

"Does he have a middle name too?" Belle asked.

"What? No, I couldn't come up with a name that went with Blinky." Adam responded. "I keep the only photo of him behind the family photo on my nightstand." He handed the photo to Belle.

"The ultrasound," Belle breathed. "I think we should tell the kids, well the older ones."

"I think so too," Adam agreed.

"Thanks Adam," Belle hugged him.

"Anytime Belle," Adam returned her hug.

Lumiere and Cogsworth walked through the halls of Beast's Castle to the living room. "The Master has requested that you all meet him and Belle in the library." Cogsworth informed the group.

"And it's time for your nap Princess Becky." Lumiere said. The French servant took the three year old's hand and they walked in the direction of the stairs to the bedrooms. The English servant led the teens to the library.

"They are here, Master," Cogsworth poked his head through the door.

"Let them in, thank you Cogsworth," Adam said.

"Mom, what do you want us for? Is anything wrong?" Ben questioned.

"All of you sit and we'll tell you," Belle instructed.

As they all sat down, Mal started to talk. "About what I asked earlier, I never meant to make you upset, forget I ever said anything at all."

"No, Mal, it's fine and a very good question, and to go along with a good question is always a good answer." Belle told the group.

"What do you mean Mom?" Ben inquired, moving closer to Belle.

"After Adam and I got married we were told that we would probably never have any children. Then four years later we had Ben, we were the happiest people on the planet." Belle started.

"We tried a few times after he was born to have another baby, but every time it didn't work out." Adam continued. "When Becky was born, it was a miracle. We decided then that we were very lucky to have the two kids we got and that was that."

"That's why there's such a big age gap, we hoped for a family with lots of kids, but it was not meant to be. We came close to having another baby when Ben was five. Adam kept the photo from the last ultrasound, even named the baby and never told me." Belle passed the photo to Ben and all the other teens crowded around him.

"You said he named it too?" Jay recalled.

"He named this baby boy Blinky," Belle said, trying not to laugh like the others.

Adam sighed. "It was a nickname that just stuck and before any of you ask, his middle name is not Winky, he never got one."

They all were looking at the photo not really listening to what Adam had just said. "How about Porter?" Evie suggested.

"What are you talking about?" Carlos asked.

"As a middle name," Evie answered. "It's the last name of the character in the book I'm reading for school, and it seems to go along with the name Blinky."

"Yeah, what do you say Dad?" Ben questioned.

"I chose the first name, I think your mom should choose the middle name." Adam replied.

"I like the name Porter, that's what the middle name is." Belle said.

"Than here it is, Prince Blinky Porter of Auradon." Ben announced. "I think that's the strangest thing I will ever say in my life." Everyone laughed.

"Thank you so much Mal, you, Evie, Jay, and Carlos have filled the place where all the children we lost would have been." Belle thanked.

"Your welcome Belle, and thank you for caring so much about all of us, you and Adam have made all our lives millions of times better." Mal smiled.
