You all are the sweetest. Your reviews fill my heart with joy! I'm going to try to update on a more consistent basis and I have a few more chapters already completed, so be on the lookout for that!

Here's a little diddy about what happens right after the drone strike in 4x22/5x01 (obviously Reade survives because duh). Tasha is taking care of him and is concerned about him.

Enjoy!

"Have I ever told you that you would have made a hell of a nurse?"

She rolls her eyes. "Just be happy I'm not sticking you with any needles. "

She doesn't know how he manages to joke at a time like this. He is battered and bloodied and bruised and he barely escaped that house. When the drone attack hit and the walls fell down, she thought the last thing she was ever going to see was him buried underneath that rubble. But, the team got him out just moments before the house came down and she clung to him tightly as they watched the rubble cave in.

The team knows they have to split up after the drone strike, but Reade is in bad shape and there was no way he could survive on his own. Zapata says she is going with him and does not take no for an answer. She justifies that she knows field medicine and that she knows how to hide from the FBI better than anyone else. The team does not bother arguing with her.

It takes her longer than she would have liked to get them somewhere safe. She knows of a few nonfunctional CIA black sites from her CIA days and while it is not a long term option, Reade needs medical attention so it will do for a day or two. They trudge there slowly, Reade wincing with each step.

He's cracked a few ribs and he's got a nasty gash on his leg and she is not even sure what else is wrong with him. She prays there is no internal bleeding and he is not suffering from any type of head injury because they can't risk taking him to a hospital right now.

"Tasha I'm fine." He tells her while she dotes on him. She wraps his wounds and tries to clean off the dried blood from his body and the worry radiates from her face.

"You almost died today." She does not look at his face, she rather keeps her focus on wrapping his leg. He is laying on a cloth blanket she found and she is kneeling over him.

'But I didn't"

She doesn't say anything. She is mad and scared and tired and she does not want to take it all out on him. She is angry he risked his life today. He could have died trying to get her out of there. He still might die.

"Tasha-"

"I almost lost you." She cuts him off, turning her attention from his wounds to his face. "You're not allowed to die."

"I'm not going to-"

"You say that," She starts to wrap his wound again, a little rougher than he would appreciate. "But then you do all these heroic things and you almost get yourself killed."

"Was I supposed to let you die in that house with me?"

She sighs. "I can't lose you."

He props his elbow up a little and groans from the pain. "You're not going to lose me. I'm tough. You and I are seeing this thing through to the end, you hear me?"

She wants to believe him, but images of him underneath the rubble and rock flood her mind and she is scared that if it's not today than it's next week or a month later. They are on the run and they are constantly putting their lives on the line and she does not know what she would do without him.

"It would be worthless for me to ask you to be safe, wouldn't it?" She says.

"Look at me." He says and she ignores his request, continuing to treat his leg. "Tasha." She places the gauze down and turns to face him.

Laying down flat, he tilts his head so he can see her better. "I've been in love with you since our first week on the job. It took me so many years but I finally got you. You think I'm going to go and get myself killed now that I finally have something to live for?"

Her cheeks burn red and she gives him a small smile at his declaration. They worked too hard for their happiness only for it to be taken away from them now. She does not know how long it would take to clear their names, but she knows they would both walk out of this alive and together.

"You have to promise to not do anything reckless or stupid otherwise I'll kill you myself." She tells him as she picks up the gauze to finish treating his wound.

"I wouldn't dream of it."

"Good." They fall into a silence for a few moments as she finishes wrapping his leg and starts to inspect other wounds. "And Reade?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you too."
