"So, which one of us is moving where?" Hermione asked, as she started the car and drove off. She figured she'd start off by making it known— that they weren't going to continue living apart with their new status as mates.
Remus thought for a moment, "You have a flat, don't you? It doesn't leave any options in regards to the full moon. Except to lock me up."
"You're right there. And I refuse to allow you to lock yourself up again on the full moons," Hermione stated matter of factly.
"And you already know that I live in the house I grew up in, which happens to have a forest behind it that hasn't been used on the full moons, not even since I reached adulthood." He sighed. "As terribly in disrepair as it is…"
"Which can be easily fixed up between the two of us." Hermione smiled softly, "And the forest just needs proper warding as a precaution I think."
"What about your flat?" He pointed out.
"I'll just give it to Ron. He can do whatever he wants with it," Her nose scrunched up in distaste at whatever thoughts she had about what Ron might do with the flat.
"How about this?" Remus started, "If you're up to it, we keep both. And we'll just go to my house around the full moon."
Hermione thought about it for a moment. "Okay. On two conditions."
"Which are?"
"First, no more pity parties for not having a job. We both know it's not your fault," Hermione started, "Second, you're going to start writing. There needs to be more books on werewolves that are actually truthful and educational. Who better to write them than you?" She glanced at him with a smile, "Deal?"
"Deal." Remus chuckled, "You drive a hard bargain, Hermione." He went quiet for a moment before bursting into laughter.
"What's so funny?" Hermione eyed him briefly.
"I just realized something," Remus chuckled. "You know the other Marauders were essentially my pack. And when Lily married James and had Harry, Lily and Harry automatically became part of the pack," He explained, "Until this weekend, all that I had left as packmates were Sirius and Harry. But now that we've mated…" he looked at her with a knowing smirk.
"That puts me at a higher level in the hierarchy than Sirius," Hermione picked up right away. Even she had to giggle at that.
"Exactly, which also means whether you want it or not, Padfoot will be forced to submit to you by the next full moon," Remus pointed out.
"Well, that'll be fun," She sighed. "Speaking of Sirius, how do you want to break this news? Not to mention there's telling Ron and Harry too."
"We tell all three of them together," Remus suggested. "I doubt you need to be reminded of how explosive Ron can be. And I won't promise that Moony won't make an appearance should he say the wrong thing."
"Good point." She nodded, "Shall we give it a couple of days before we tell them?"
"That would give us time to settle in too," He smirked. "I don't know about you but I have no intentions on sleeping away from you tonight," He leaned over and nipped playfully at her neck.
"I figured you'd want to grab some more things from your place," She let out a whimper and her grip tightened on the steering wheel even as she turned down the final street before his place.
Remus chuckled as he settled back in his seat, looking very smug with himself.
"No wonder the Marauders didn't get caught too much with you being the main source of brains for you all," Hermione muttered.
Remus smirked. "Between you and me, I'm the main reason Padfoot and Prongs did get caught most of the time at least by the time fifth year came around. Needed some study time in quiet and you know as well as I do that the library couldn't be open all of the time."
Hermione hurriedly put the car in park just as they pulled up in front of his place and looked at him, "Seriously? They never found out it was you?"
Remus shook his head, "Never. And I would love it if Padfoot continued to never know," He raised an eyebrow in question.
Hermione made a zipping motion across her lips, "He won't hear it from me, my Alpha," She winked before opening her door, "Come on, let's grab more of your stuff so we can get to my place." She got out of the car with a laugh.
Remus' eyes widened at first before he chuckled and got out of the car. He walked around to her and pulled her close. "You're mine later," He growled possessively in her ear before nipping it and walking to the front door.
