I'm back with another short little fluff filled chapter. This one is honestly just romance and mushiness and I loved every moment of writing it. There may or may not be a part two from Tasha's perspective coming soon.
Once again, thank you for all the reviews and encouragement! They have been so wonderful to read.
Enjoy!
He calls her Zapata while they are at work. They've worked together for years now, so he can drop the "Special Agent" when he refers to her, but Zapata is still professional enough.
"Zapata, what did you find?"
"Good work, Agent Zapata."
"Zapata, you ready?"
Many people would find it weird referring to your significant other by their last name, but for them, it was second nature. However, he rarely calls her Zapata at home. It is her work name and when they get home and the end of a long day, the last thing he wants to think about is work.
He calls her Tasha at home. She always says that she does not really like her name "Natasha" because it does not fit her, but he would have to disagree. He can't put his finger on it, but something about her is just a Tasha and he is happy that he is the one that gets to call her that.
He sometimes calls her Tasha at work, when it's just the two of them and they have the privilege to share a quick and quiet moment. Sometimes, before a mission, in the locker room, he can give her a quick kiss before whispering "Love you, Tasha" and moving out to save the world yet again.
But at home, he can call her Tasha all he wants.
"Tasha, have you seen my keys?"
"Tasha, I'm going out for a run. I'll be back later."
"Tasha, I swear if you don't learn to pick up after your damn self-."
Her name rolls right off his tongue at this point and he loves that it has become more normal in his vocabulary. Before they got together, he rarely thought about what he called her. Now, he can't wait for the moments in the day where it is just them and he can drop the professional FBI act and he can just be with his Tasha.
He calls her "Tash" when he's joking around with her. He never called her that before they were in a relationship and he thinks it is because if he did, she probably would have killed him. But, every now and then, "Tash" comes out his mouth when they are being cheesy and he just can't help himself.
"Tash, you are the worst bed hog I have ever met."
"You snore like an old man, Tash."
"Tash, I swear if you don't learn to pick up after your damn self I'm kicking you out."
He likes that he can tease her and she does not go all FBI on him. The small moments, where they are on the couch and laughing about something stupid and he gets to see that beautiful smile have become his absolute favorite and he would do anything to make them last forever.
He calls her "Babe" when he is in a rush. They are not big on pet names, but somehow "babe" gets tacked on to the end of sentences when he is in a hurry. He supposes he is so comfortable with her that his brain does not need to think when she is there.
"Babe, I'm home."
"You want Chinese tonight, babe?"
"Babe, we got to go."
In the months they have been together, they have become much more comfortable together. He never really called any of his previous girlfriends "babe" and he can't imagine that any of her previous boyfriends could call her that and live to see another day. It makes him think that what they have is special and unique.
He calls her love" on rare, but special occasions. He called her that when he asked her to move in and when he told her she was his future. It was the name that was reserved for when he needed her to understand the depths of his love for her.
" Love, I am with you until the end."
"I'd do anything for you, love."
"You, love, are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me."
"Love" is vulnerable and it is a name that is unlike any relationship either of them has been in. It shows that what they have is deep and it is real and it is rare. He cherishes those special moments with his love where he can use that term of endearment to show to her how much he truly cares for her.
Reade knows that, at the end of the day, it does not matter what he is calling her. Zapata, Tasha, Tash, Babe, love, or any other name he could come up with. No matter what he calls her, he loves her just the same.
