Continuation of the first chapter, so it's now a two-shot!
"Your turn, Percy."
The four demigods were sprawled out on the living room floor, playing Monopoly. Percy and Annabeth had gotten a bit of a shock when Nico and Will showed up at the door, almost an hour late. They were huddled under a snow-covered black jacket, looking quite out of breath but still arguing. They'd explained what happened with the Chimera, which cleared up the confusion.
Percy rolled the dice and moved his game piece. "Aw, come on!"
"Pay up." Nico smirked.
"Ugh."
Percy counted out the Monopoly money and handed it over. "Annabeth, your turn."
He shoved a blue chocolate chip cookie in his mouth- Sally had baked a batch before she and Paul left for the next few days, visiting some old friends.
Annabeth rolled and moved safely. Percy scowled and took another bite of his cookie. A few blue crumbs fell on the carpet.
Annabeth grabbed the plate of cookies from him.
"Hey!" Percy complained.
"You've had five already, Seaweed Brain. Let us have some first."
Percy sneaked one more cookie as Annabeth passed the plate to Nico and Will. She took one for herself and nibbled it as she studied the game board.
So far Annabeth was winning, with Nico close behind. Will was doing rather badly, though not as badly as Percy, who was nearly broke by now and was currently trying to steal from Annabeth, who swatted his hand. "Stop that, we can all see you!"
She glanced at the board. "Percy, your turn again."
Percy rolled and had to pay Nico yet again. He pouted, waving his flimsy stack of colorful paper bills. "That's not fair!" he reached for another cookie.
Percy went bankrupt a couple moves later. He groaned and flopped on his back. "Why do I always lose at board games? The Fates are picking on me!"
Will was out as well in a few minutes. The two of them watched as Annabeth and Nico competed.
Nico won, and Percy grinned. "Finally, somebody beat Wise Girl!"
Annabeth smacked him.
"Ow."
"What now?" Will asked.
"Something else," Percy requested. "I suck at Monopoly. And most other board games. Annabeth always wins."
"Okay, what then?"
"Food. I'm hungry, we missed dinner."
Nico arched an eyebrow. "Didn't you just eat like ten cookies?"
"Nooooo."
"How many?"
"Uh… eight?"
"Really, Percy? Eight?" Annabeth asked.
"It's less than ten!"
"What time is it?"
Will glanced at the clock. "Oh, wow. It's ten p.m."
"Really?" Percy shrugged. "Eh, I'm getting a snack anyways." He headed to the kitchen. "Oh, bleh. There's nothing edible here." He came back to the living room. "I want real food."
Annabeth sighed. "What do you mean by 'real food'?"
"Hmm…" Percy grinned. "I've got an idea."
Half an hour later, they were watching a movie on the sofa and gobbling down the pizza Percy had ordered.
"I don't think this is what Sally meant by taking care of ourselves while she's gone."
Percy shrugged. "Whatever, close enough. It's not like we got waffles for dinner."
"Is that what you wanted to do?"
"Yeah, with whipped cream. Oooh, and some donuts."
